Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Mike Huckabee channels Man-On-Dog Santorum

by: RadicalRuss

Comment away...
In an interview with Beliefnet.com, a religion Web site, Huck has just clarified his view that the Constitution should be amended to be brought in line with God's will -- and he directly equated homosexuality with bestiality.

Huck, in elaborating on his views that the Constitution should be subjected to Biblical standards, had just wrapped up a discussion of the fact that marriage has meant "a man and a woman in a relationship for life." With this context firmly established, this exchange followed:

QUESTIONER: Is it your goal to bring the Constitution into strict conformity with the Bible? Some people would consider that a kind of dangerous undertaking, particularly given the variety of biblical interpretations.

HUCKABEE: Well, I don't think that's a radical view to say we're going to affirm marriage. I think the radical view is to say that we're going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal. Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again. I think the radical position is to make a change in what's been historic.

Will the gay bashing pay for Huckabee the same dividends it paid for Bush, that is, bringing out the homophobic fun-duh-mental-less evan-genital hypoChristians to vote in droves?  I think that ship has sailed, especially as more older (homophobic) voters die off and younger (grew up watching numerous positive gay characters on TV and movies and music videos) voters take their place.

(More on this issue after the jump...)

RadicalRuss :: Mike Huckabee channels Man-On-Dog Santorum
It almost goes without saying -- Rick Santorum's Huckabee's premise that same-sex marriage equality leads to polygamy, incest, pedophilia, and bestiality is ridiculous on its face.  We are asking that the nation federally recognize the rights of two unmarried unrelated adult individuals to enter in to a lifelong familial and legal bond.  Last I checked, animals and children can't sign contracts and marriage contracts are for only two people unrelated by blood.

His theory is that "the door is open to change it again"; unless these definitions are set in stone, the worst possible definitions will come to bear.  It's interesting, since the definition of marriage has hardly been set in stone throughout its history.  Huckabee's favorite book tells many stories of men marrying many wives, men marrying underaged girls, and men marrying women they are related to.

Does Huckabee know that somebody went and changed God's definition of marriage from polygamy to monogamy, and why, pray tell, did that not leave the door "open to change it again"?  (Hmm... perhaps it did... perhaps going from "one man many women" to "one man one woman" is what opened the door for all of this talk of "one man one man" and "one woman one woman".  Better become a vocal supporter of the original, Biblically-sanctified "one man many women"... but then people might confuse him for Romney.)

And even the definition of "one man one woman" has changed over relatively recent times.  Marriage used to be "one man one woman picked for you by your parents", "one man one woman paid for in dowry by her parents", "one man one woman the same religion as you", and even up until one year before my birth (1967) "one man one woman the same race as you".

I've made this argument before, but since Huckabee brought up bringing the Constitution into agreement with God's law, I wonder when he will be proposing these constitutional amendments:

  • Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women. (Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5.)
  • Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition to his wife or wives. (II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron 11:21)
  • A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed. (Deut 22:13-21)
  • Marriage between a believer and a nonbeliever shall be forbidden. (Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)
  • Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce. (Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)
  • If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law. (Gen. 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

I wonder what other Biblical laws Huckabee would endorse?  An end to usury (interest) fees?  No more Red Lobster restaurants?  A return to slavery?  Mandatory circumcision?  (The list goes on and on and you can check it out yourself at Skeptic's Annotated Bible.)

He doesn't know much history…
...Including his own Bible. Historically in the middle east it was one man and however many women he could afford.

The 'slippery slope' argument has been used to try and block every bit of social and civil rights progress for the last two century's or so at least. Why does it seem that conservatives have such a hard time understand the concept of consent?

Huckabee is just jaw dropingly stupid.

Why indeed.
That is one fine question, Natasha. The very concept of consent does seem to have eluded some people - I'm not sure I would use the broad term 'conservative' - but the ones who have that tortured view of humans as 'fallen.' I'm thinking of those who feel that without the authoritarian security blanket of biblical inerrancy, we are just 'animals' in that dangerous heart of darkness sense; none of us are qualified to give consent. They equate us to animals because they feel like animals themselves, animals who Just. Can't. Help it. No, consent is not part of this picture.

affirm marriage
as the union between two consenting adults.  how radical of a concept is that?

The gays stole my lunch money

Slippery slopes never lead back to reality
I always thought that Jacob, his wives Leah and Rachel, and his concubines Bilhah and Zilpah would have found it interesting to learn that marriage in the Bible was always  between one man and one woman. Then again, look at all the evidence Huckabee can point to of what has happened in our own time in those places where gay people have been granted marriage equality. Why at least 0 people have married their pets in Massachusetts alone! Not the mention the debauchery caused by those 0 people marrying their pets in Canada!!

we're hucked!
Yeah, but he's so nice and genuine when he says it.

He needs to specify the animal....
Santorum = dog
Cornyn = turtle
Huckabee = ?

I nominate the squirrel, because Huck is, well, squirrelly.

Bottom Line
The bottom line is that there is supposed to be a separation of church and state. Our constitution is supposed to support freedom of religion, and the Bible does not represent the religious views of all our melting pot ingredients (people).

His ignorance doesnt surprise me any longer. I have grown to expect this type of short-sighted, bigoted and uneducated retoric from any right wing republican.
Honestly, the definition of marriage can mean different things to different countries as well as religions and our country should support any positive relationship that contributes to any persons pursuit of happiness. To go out on a limb and compare this to bestiality and polyamorous relationships is beyond ridiculous (as well as insulting).

I read stuff like this and cant get my hands around GLBT folks who still identify with and support the republican party. Are you all daft!?

Eh?
To go out on a limb and compare this to bestiality and polyamorous relationships is beyond ridiculous (as well as insulting).

So, you're saying that equating both man-on-possum sex and various forms of polygamy with gay relationships is equally ridiculous and insulting?

'tis war upon poor gays and Lesbeens he's declared....
Our love, our committments, our relationships have been compared to bestiality and paedophilia. He has a national podium and unlimited media access. This is, in effect, war upon us, daemonizing us, portraying us in such a loathsome fashion as to make the probability of discrimination and violence against us increase. The blood of any gay or Lesbian hurt or killed by any individual inflamed or inspired by his words is upon his hands....and every time that the Christian right campaigns against us, be it about gay parents adopting, gay couples getting married, or simply employment rights or freedom from violence, the violence against us increases markedly. Gays and Lesbians pay in blood or pay with their lives every time that the Christian Right uses us as a political tool or bogeyman.

So, it is indeed war upon us.

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Electability?
Do you all think rhetoric like this will come back to haunt him in the general election if we wins the Repub's nomination? Even Dear Leader didn't use such dauntingly cruel language ... even if he didn't say not to say such things which is just as bad. I just hold out hope the majority of Americans - while still biased in many ways - don't see their gay and trans neigbors residing in such darkness.
