Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Anti-gay U.K. Anglicans' subtle marketing for new tome

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 11:00:00 AM EST

This one definitely belongs in the "I'm not sh*tting you" hall of fame. Daniel Gonzales and Jim Burroway of Box Turtle Bulletin point to this cover of a new anti-gay book published by conservative Anglicans,  God, Gays and the Church: Human Sexuality and Experience in Christian Thinking, published by the Latimer Trust.

According to Anglican Mainstream, this tome includes testimonies of "ex-gays" and "essays in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, genetics, biblical and pastoral theology, social ethics and cultural analysis" to counter that veritable tsunami of homosexualist propaganda out there and "analyse the impact of the gay agenda on our culture."

The book, edited by Dr Lisa Nolland, Sarah Finch and Dr Chris Sugden, seeks to correct the imbalance in the 'Listening Process' called for by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The editors argue that, so far, the whole listening process has been in "one direction and with one ultimate end" - the full inclusion of practising gay Anglicans at the very heart of the church's establishment.
The selection of the cover image at left clearly indicates a sly marketing approach for the tome...

The chapter list gives you an idea of what's in store, and the contributors are from the ex-gay stable of propagandists.

* Pastoral Considerations for Homosexuality
* Post-Gay: The Transforming Power of God
* Post-Lesbian: My Testimony
* Same Sex Attraction. Is it innate and immutable?
* A Faithful Church: The Bible and Same-Sex Sex
* Civil Partnerships: Advice to UK Parishes and Clergy
* Unexpected Consequences: The Sexualisation of Youth

Expert contributions include chapters by Professor Joseph Nicolosi, former President of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, and Professor Robert A. J. Gagnon, author of The Bible and Homosexual Practice (2001).

Vvery weak attempt to legitimise homophobia
I find it fscinating that religious opponents of gay rights can only use discredited scientists and clinicians to support their contentions. Nicolsi, for goodness sake? Why not Cameron, whose date Nicolsi relies upon.

Psychiatry and psychology are by and large the only sciences that the church(S) in the 21st century feel free to disregard. Certainly , no other medical disciplines are treated the same. The reason is because both fields debunk the bases of the Church's favourite form of discrimination.

The cover is insulting, the authors cited are disgraced in the world of academe, and the book is likely to be the target of a Parliamentary investigation because of it's intent.

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Here, here...
I'm insulted that my representation as a gay-man-in-distress is some mussed-hair sad sack in hobo rags. I'd never be seen going down on a man of the cloth dressed like that, and certainly not while one of his buddies is watching. Asshats.

Curses! My million dollar ideas foiled again: "God Bless Your Brand!" http://www.christvertising.com/

Parliamentary Investigation
Why on earth would there be an investigation into this?

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." -- Thomas Jefferson

Investigated because...
Hate speech and hate writing is illegal.
The matter gets higher profile as this is associated with Anglican scholars.

God, Gays and Rembrandt?
What dolts!  They chose Rembrandt's "The Return of the Prodigal Son" for the cover?

The Cover
Unfortunate though it is, I don't think the choice for the cover of this book is sly marketing, or insulting, just a hilariously misconceived marketing ploy, as is Burroway's point.  The painting is Rembrandt's The Return of the Prodigal Son, and is meant to represent the return of sinners, in this instance gays, to the Christian fold.  That to me is more insulting than the rags on the supplicant, or his position in front of his father, but what do you expect from such a source?  Obviously they're clueless.

If it's any consolation, most Anglicans in the U.K. are highly embarressed at the public spectacle the American and African branches of the Communion are making of what is to most a very private matter, their faith and relationship to the Church.  That being said, there are debates that need to be had, and I would only wish Rowan Williams were as brave on the subject of homosexuality and faith as he has been recently on the subject of Sharia in Britain.  But that's the perennial problem when you get people of his intellectual prowess in positions of authority, they become political.

I will buy this book, then decide where it fits in the debate.

apparently british anglicans are also embarressed
of rowan atkinson.  he really put his foot in it recently when he made a statement that the country should entertain sharia law.  i believe what he really meant was where sharia law doesn't conflict with british law, then why not let people follow it.  but he ham-handed the proposition so badly that people though he was condoning a 2-tier legal system: sharia for those who follow it, british codified and common law for those who don't.  gee, did he think in this day and age that people would listen calmly and carefully to his whole discussion, rather than rush to rash conclusions about what he meant?  what a dolt!

Dolt?
Not really.  Naive, perhaps.  He seems to be under the delusion that there are still people out there who can think for themselves without the tabloids doing it for them.  He comes from a different era and mindset when people actually read round the whole subject before making an intelligent and well-informed judgement.  Anybody who read what he actually said would see that you are right, Lurleen, and that he only suggested what already exists, that is Sharia councils arbitrating domestic disputes without resorting to the courts of the land, much as Jewish councils presently do.  But sheeple read Sharia and saw a threat.  Williams just didn't count on the stupidity of the general public.

Rowan Atkinson is a comedian.  Rowan Williams is the Archbishop of Canterbury.

arg, i'm always mixing up the names.
sorry!

i think that rowan williams has been around a long time, and seen a lot.  if he is still naive, i would be shocked.  maybe the better term is out of touch?  but again, if that is the case given his age, experience and recent events involving the church and world religious movements, it is something between a pathetic and frightening to conclude.

Rowan Williams
has "archbishop-itis", a more aggravated form of the common inability to communicate clearly that seems to involve a significant percentage of bishops.

[ Parent ]
Interesting
What did you find unclear about his speech?

[ Parent ]
As the tittle shows...
Gayness is next to Godliness, and the church comes in last place.  Not a very well-thought-out title.

If these "religious" put one tenth the effort into helping humanity as they do demonizing GLBT people, we would be living in a paradise that would make Eden look like a slum.

"Unexpected consequences: the Sexualisation of Youth"
... unless 'youth' means 'children' (where it usually means 'teens')... since when is sexualization UNEXPECTED in that age group???

Alternate title for that cover:

I Like to Watch

Advice for Clergy. Philip Pullman was right.
* Pastoral Considerations for Homosexuality: We're not all your flock; stop treating everyone like livestock.
* Post-Gay: The Transforming Power of God: Prove it (you will have a hard embarrassing job and see a LOT of self-hatred).
* Post-Lesbian: My Testimony. Sorry, women flip back and forth more than men; try 'post-sexual'.
* Same Sex Attraction. Is it innate and immutable? Maybe not but sexuality is and since there's not correct sexual expression, the idea of removing or exchanging it is pointless.
* A Faithful Church: The Bible and Same-Sex Sex. Try the Bible on shellfish, slavery or polygamy. Then shut up.
* Civil Partnerships: Advice to UK Parishes and Clergy. Not your business and never should be. Back to your beads.
* Unexpected Consequences: The Sexualisation of Youth. or 'When I was 12, I could get horny pumping up the tyres on my bike." Could someone get these weirdos away from my healthy libido.
