Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Uncle Sam wants openly gay presidential appointees...

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 18:00:00 PM EST

Sort of. A release from The Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute (GLLI) came in my inbox yesterday. The organization, in conjunction with the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Stonewall Democrats is launching a recruiting effort to deliver to the next president a pool of qualified openly LGBT candidates for consideration, as many positions will open up in a new administration.
"Our goal is to make sure all Americans have an equal voice in their government.  Through public service, our community demonstrates a commitment to making our country a better place for all its citizens and for every kind of family.  In 1996, we worked closely with the second Clinton administration to identify gays and lesbians who were qualified to serve the president.  We stand ready to help whoever is elected this November," said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of GLLI.

Ambassador James C. Hormel, who became the first openly gay U.S. ambassador when he was appointed by President Bill Clinton, said the project will make it easier for the next president to identify and consider talented individuals to serve his or her administration. "We also need to say to the next president, 'We're ready to serve and we're ready to lead,'" Hormel said.  "The next administration must know that we are concerned about being included, determined to contribute our talents, skills and insights, and eager to participate in the hard work of governing our country."

The GLLI project will identify, recruit and vet openly LGBT applicants. If you have what it takes, this is a great opportunity to play a key role in the executive branch and make a difference in our government. A big caveat, of course, is whether you want to work for change from the inside. More below the fold.

GLLI's web site is frank about what you need to consider:
These are just some of the factors you should consider before applying to the Presidential Appointments Project:

   * The hours are long and the pace intense.
   * There is much public/press scrutiny.
   * Most applicants under serious consideration for an appointment will go through a full FBI background check in which their employment, professional, personal, travel, medical, financial, legal, military and educational histories will be reviewed and scrutinized.
   * The financial holdings and sources of income for most applicants under serious consideration must be disclosed for review for possible conflicts of interest.
   * Most appointees' dealings with the Federal government during and for a period of time after their service will be significantly restricted to prevent possible conflicts of interest.

Of course I asked myself when I read this release -- would I want to apply? Reading that above list of factors, there's not much that's intolerable as I already work long hours between my day job and my blogging "job," so that's not a factor. My life is pretty much an open book on the web. For me the lack of freedom, and the obvious need to relocate to DC would be the big problem. I like my life here out in the real, sane world.

I'm sure with regime change in the wind, a lot of "professional LGBTs" are waiting to get back into "the system" are salivating at the potential opportunities.

The FAQ doc is here.

major omission
They forgot "star" no. 6:

* Of course the federal government will never recognize your relationship to your partner in any significant (benefits and rights) way.

Gay or Lesbian President
Bunch of hype.  None qualify.  Don't we have to get our federal and state equal rights in marriage first ?  Hello...

The two comments thus far,
prove that GLLI is ahead of the curve in venturing into new, less comfortable territory. Good for them.

And,
no one said anything about a "gay or lesbian president". It's about apointees of the president. You know, someone better than Holsinger, or the other assholes in hearings.

Work for No Benefits
I agree with the other two commenters that a major point was omitted from the GLLI's information: openly gay appointees would have to be okay with the fact that their respective partners would never receive the recognition or benefits that their colleagues' spouses receive. Sure, we all have to deal with that inequality on a daily basis, anyway, but when it's the federal government, and when you're giving up so much of yourself to work for the federal government, that lack of recognition is more significant.
