Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Hate in early 2008 - something to think about

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 11:00:00 AM EST

Fight OUT Loud has put a video that makes it clear why the LGBT community is a group still under siege, the victims of hate crimes. Look at just a sample of crimes that made the news so far this year:

In more positive news, Fight OUT Loud can report that the protests regarding the taxpayer-funded community newsletter containing a bigoted column by the unhinged mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Jim Naugle, have paid off. Read about it after the jump.

Pam Spaulding :: Hate in early 2008 - something to think about
[T]he City of Fort Lauderdale has removed the "Focus on Fort Lauderdale" newsletter with Mayor Jim Naugle's bigoted message against the LGBT community from the city's website.  The city also decided that the mayor's column in Fort Lauderdale's bi-monthly publication will be permanently removed, giving Naugle one less platform from which to spew hate.  A special thanks to Commissioners Hutchinson and Moore for standing up for the respect and equality of all residents.

This shows the power and influence of a united LGBT community. Fight OUT Loud thanks its over 20,000 members, many who have written in to express their outrage over this.  Within 1 day, the offensive language was removed from the city website and Naugle's message was removed from future publications.

Thank you to everyone who wrote, called, and stood up against the spread of anti-gay rhetoric at the expense of Fort Lauderdale tax-payers.  Your voice was heard.  Never again will our community sit by and let dangerous, violence inducing language go unanswered.

As I noted when I first heard the good news, these newsletters don't go to press without a lot of eyes on it, and it managed to get approved and sent out to Fort Lauderdale homes.

I'm glad that there was a quick response, but someone needs to be held accountable for not using editorial care with this particular mayor's "messages" to the people, given his long history of anti-gay comments and homophobia media whoring.

Only slightly
off-topic. An Empire State Pride Agenda poll released yesterday shows that 78% of NY voters support fully inclusive (LGB AND T) protections:
We released a poll today (conducted by Global Strategy Group) that finds that 78 percent of registered New York voters support passing a bill that protects transgender people from discrimination in employment, housing, education and other areas of everyday life.

That's a wonderfully overwhelming stat!  So much for the people not being ready (at least in NY).

Electricity's for light bulbs!

good but....
But the newsletter was distributed. So everybody in Fort Lauderdale gets to see hate speech written and endorsed by their Mayor. Which is why, I guess, they voted for him in the first place. Nice people.

How many will know it was even protested ? How many will care ? After all, removing it from the website after everybody gets a copy is only symbolic.

All it does is show that GLBT people ain't wanted 'round there and no after-the-fact whitewash by two guys of conscience will change that.

We haven't stopped fighting...
I agree with sentiments that the damage was done already as soon as this mailer went out.  Have no doubt that we are pushing for answers and investigations into how this made it into the newsletter in the first place.  There are many hands and eyes that it had to go past to get to print, and we need to know every one of them.  We will keep the Blenders posted...

It is something to note, however, that he has been completely stripped of the chance to do this again.  Having the "Mayor's Message" removed was a small, positive step.

While we have an uphill battle here in South Florida, we are more galvanized than ever.  We have a record number of LGBT candidates running at all levels of office (including Lauderdale city commission) to ensure that we always have a voice and that a huge mistake like Naugle never happens again.

Again, thanks to Pam for helping spread the word and for posting our video!

-Waymon Hudson
President of Fight OUT Loud

What would be a major victory,
though a difficult one to achieve, would be a replacement article condemning the recent increase in phobic murders.

That would get the message to the same people the first one reached.

Parsley calls out to "Lock and Load"...
...and when he and those like him do so, we die.
How many dead is enough?
When will one of the Democratic candidates have enough courage to look at McCain and say that his supporters are killing us?
When will our own leadership have the same courage?
When will we have the courage to say it to the LRC's or those factions in the community who would deny protections to any of us using the blood stained fallacy of "incrementalism?"

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Would that have constituted a threat?
I don't know the details of USA law but isn't incitment to violence and making threats a crime?

Would it be possible for civil action to be brought against him?

armed gays don't get bashed

That's there biggest, unspoken objection to not wanting us in the military
the idea of training GLBT to shoot back scares the piss out of them

Cyndi's song

For the curious, the song backgrounding the FIGHT OUT Loud ad is Cyndi Lauper singing her song "Fearless."

Stand together and be fearless, be out, be proud.
