Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Daddy D: who will replace elder professional homophobes when we kick off?

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 17:30:00 PM EDT

Oh, my...bring out the tiny violin please...
With a generation of Christian right leaders dead or aging, the founder of the conservative evangelical group Focus on the Family says he's concerned about the movement's future leadership.

James Dobson told a group of Christian broadcasters Tuesday night that the passing of Jerry Falwell, the Rev. D. James Kennedy and Ruth Bell Graham represent the end of an era. The radio talk show host noted that others like Billy Graham, Chuck Colson, Pat Robertson and Chuck Swindoll will also soon pass from the scene, and questioned the impact on the conservative Christian church.

"It causes me to wonder who will be left to carry the banner when this generation of leaders is gone," Dobson told an audience of nearly 1,400 at the National Religious Broadcasters conference. "The question is, will the younger generation heed the call? Who will defend the unborn child in the years to come? Who will plead for the Terri Schiavos of the world? Who's going to fight for the institution of marriage, which is on the ropes today."

..."Who in the next generation will be willing to take the heat, when it's so much safer and more comfortable to avoid controversial subjects," Dobson said. "What will be the impact on the conservative Christian church when the patriarchs have passed?"

Dobson, 71, said many of his comments on Tuesday were the same he made at Kennedy's funeral last fall, when he told those in attendance he's praying that the next generation of Christians will answer God's call to take up the mantle of leadership.

Sally Kern looks like she'd like to step up to the plate, but she seems a bit long in the tooth to be considered the "next generation" of fundie leadership.

Standing in line
Oh I'm sure there are more than enough hateful, miserable people standing in line to inherit the sweet deal that Dobson enjoys. I mean think about it: He doesn't have to do any actual work, he's influential and wealthy and has access to lawmakers and world leaders and all he has to do is exploit the fears and superstitions of the weak minded and desperate. Unfortunately, finding people to carry on the hatred and ignorance has never been a problem.

Few things would please me more
Wouldn't it be great if they couldn't find anyone fundy enough to take his place?

Alas...
All his potential successors keep getting caught cruising for dick.

Is cruising for dick ...
... a requirement for this job?  http://youtube.com/watch?v=RTr... ;-)

I'm truly hoping...
...the rapture comes soon and takes these wackos up to the sky. Life on Earth would improve in the peace area significantly.

Uh.... Satan?
Might as well cut out the middle-men.

the LATIMES
recently had an article on government haters becoming irrelevant. The most deadly and rabid, such as Tim McVeigh or Eric Rudolf are respectively dead and in jail. The point of the article is that most of these groups so to speak, don't have the money, energy or leadership committed enough to bother.

Focus on the Family has lost revenue. And there is a point to be made that the money spent on the war on gay folks is pretty wasteful given the stats on actual marriages, STD infections among teenagers and people losing their jobs looms larger.
Piling on myth and conjecture should only go so far as the big, bad, gay agenda as a reality begins to dawn on folks.
They can't 'blame the gays' for the Iraq mess, jobs fleeing this country or disappearing and the casual violence that plagues this country.

Hating and teaching others to takes a lot of energy. And most people's experience doesn't square with the fantasies that FOTF keeps trying to manufacture.

I have to say, I am nervous about this signature gathering crusade going on here in CA to put marriage discrimination in the state constitution.
Even in liberal Toluca Lake, the gatherers are getting the signatures.
This is the more subtle type of hate and ignorance. At least Dobson is out where we can see him.
But by signing such things, people let their real feelings show.
Hopefully this campaign will fail as it has in the past. Hopefully the CASC will rule in our favor and the legislature already got the job done.

la times article
did it really imply that mcvey types are no longer to be worried about?  we should all remember that it was a very small group of people that planned that explosion, and that it didn't take much money and almost no tech skills to make happen.  how can the la times say that such people are no longer relevant?  when you have a nation of over 300 million people, a few mcvey types are bound to pop up on occasion and do something very deadly.  or try to.  it's great that those particular people are in prison or dead now, but um, new people are being born daily!  to discount that reality is unbelievable if not irresponsible, if you ask me (which, of course, you didn't ;)

how is the signature blocking going there in CA?

Regan, are the signature gatherers using deception?
That's been the case in at least a couple other states where they present a petition for some other cause (children's cancer research, save the trees, etc.) but get the actual signatures on the anti-marriage page.  It's something to watch out for.

Also, there should be a "Know thy Neighbor" Web effort...
...there in CA to expose who the haters are. A lot of these people sign these things, thinking they can do it anonymously. Shine a light on the roaches, I say!

Gluttony is a sin
Well hopefully those who inherit the "calling" will also inherit the gut and depart us swiftly.

The banner needs a tombstone!!!
Well at least buried.  Maybe a nice eulogy could be given by HRC.  Than again it could be placed at the bottom of a toilet bowl where it would get a proper urinalogy like it deserves.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Daddy D should be concerned
because the next generation is a different breed.  Thanks to the millions of us who live out & proud lives, most younger folks recognize that the wingnut rhetoric does not represent the gay people they know.  I think the old-school haters will be hard pressed to find anyone from my generation (besides The Peter) who sees "confronting the homosexual activist agenda" as a viable career opportunity.  These dingbats need to wake up and realize they're a dying breed who've devoted their lives to a horribly misguided & failed cause.

Behind Closed Doors
Call it the Hern strategy.  Speak plainly only behind closed doors to the already converted. Organize. Enact legislation which promotes concepts like God and family values in order to marginalize and stigmatize the LGBTQ community. Talk as if you care, lie if you're caught out and continue to support and spread homophobic culture wherever you can.

There's a bright future for tomorrow's homophobe in religion and politics. At least that will not change.

Kennedy, Falwell, Robertson, Dobson, and their ilk
are among the last of a dying breed and there are fewer and fewer of them over time. While some of them have progeny who have taken up the family business, they are usually only shadows of their fathers and their "ministries" end up running out of steam. There are others who try to follow in their footsteps but they tend not to get very far, all thanks to the millions of out LGBT people who show their acquaintances, friends, family, and co-workers we are just as human as everyone else and therefore deserving of the same rights. It's been a slow process some 30 years after the founding of the "(im)moral majority," but we've been steadily gaining, which is exactly what we need to be doing in what has become a war of attrition.

I got curious and googled the mother of the anti-gay movement, Anita Bryant to see what she's up to these days. Apparently she's had multiple attempts at restarting what was once a very promising career after losing it all in her anti-gay crusade back in the 70's only to end up in bankruptcy (twice - scroll down to see the story) owing hundreds of thousands of dollars to former employees and in taxes. It's deeply ironic the one person who got the anti-gay ball rolling is reaping none of the benefit others have managed to create in her wake. It looks like she's back in Oklahoma and trying to get a ministry off of the ground, but it's apparently not getting very far. Her (second) husband seems to be the one earning anything, mostly banking on his military career as a former NASA test pilot and as a lobbyist. They seem to be doing quite well though, as they have an almost $900k house and he apparently drives a late model sports car (mid-life crisis anyone?). I doubt seriously they've paid any of their old debts or their former employees. How Christian of her.

Imagine how different her life would have been if she hadn't gone anti-gay. Chances are she would still be performing to sold out houses, on Broadway, etc., and likely be an icon for gay men. Instead she will likely live the rest of her life in relative obscurity.

Never try to train a pig. It's a waste of time and it annoys the pig.
