Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

House Rep. Jane Cunningham, Missouri's Sally Kern wannabe

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Mar 30, 2008 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

AJ Bockelman, the Executive Director of PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBT organization, sent me information on another elected bigot who unfortunately has contempt for students who are non-conforming in appearance.

Ironically, House Rep. Jane Cunningham (R-86) is chair of the Elementary And Secondary Education Committee. The legislature is considering Missouri Safe School Legislation (HB 1751), a bill that would strengthen current state anti-bullying law by prohibiting bullying motivated by "actual or perceived race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, intellectual ability, physical appearance, or mental, physical, or sensory disability or disorder."

During LGBT Equality Day in Jefferson City on Wednesday, she emitted a helluva bigoted screed. From PROMO's press release:

Two youth attempted to speak with Representative Jane Cunningham (R-86) regarding Safe Schools Legislation because of her position as chair of the House Education Committee. Upon entering Rep. Cunningham told the youth to leave, as she "couldn't look at [them] anymore," because their appearance "offended" her. Both youth have facial piercings as many students do. The youth thanked Rep. Cunningham for her time and left the office.
It gets worse below the fold.
Pam Spaulding :: House Rep. Jane Cunningham, Missouri's Sally Kern wannabe
Directly following the youths' dismissal by Rep. Cunningham, another group of Volunteer Lobbyists met with the Representative and in asking why the last group of students were asked to leave the office, Rep. Cunningham stated:
"I don't see how any human being could look at them for any prolonged period of time without getting physically ill... I thought I would throw-up if I looked at them any longer."
Representative Jane Cunningham is chair of the Elementary and Secondary Education Committee of the Missouri House of Representatives. Her comments are out of line with someone in a position to protect and support a productive learning environment for students.
PROMO has an action petition, "Say NO to Bullies in Missouri Government" here.

ignorance never ceases to amaze me
I only wish the second group of volunteers had the integrity to dismiss her as useless and just walk out

poor MO children
It's frightening that she's in a position of power. Does she think she was elected to serve only those she enjoys looking at?

If that's how she was behaving on an LGBT Equality day, I'm guessing that she's against this anti-bullying legislation.

Electricity's for light bulbs!

Yes, Jane's a 100% For-Bullying proponent
and is generally against liberal or libertarian principles.

Poor Jane better not ever come to Austin
If a few facial piercings make her want to vomit. Jeeze, how do you get to be that age and have so little personal experience of the world that a facial piercing or two provokes such a response? Get. A. Grip.

It makes me wonder...
About how she feels about people who are a different color...a different race...disabled...etc.

What she's decribing is a serious mental disorder
A deliberately cultivated phobic response to strangeness. It takes years to produce this effect:

"I don't see how any human being could look at them for any prolonged period of time without getting physically ill... I thought I would throw-up if I looked at them any longer."

It's like people who vomit when they see men kissing or if they think they've eaten an 'unclean' meat like pork.

Like most pathological disorders; this problem does not strengthen her; it saps and weakens her in every way. She is a sick, sick woman.

....signed and sent

All 3 PROMO petitions.  More organizations should make it so easy.  Keep up the pressure. Lets get all bigots out of office.

What A Bully

As the proud wearer of a septum (nose ring) piercing, of course I signed the PROMO petition.  What darn bully she is!  Makes me mad!

The fight for full LGBT Equality is NOT over.  Be strong and be ready to really fight!  And read my blog in your spare time! http://ravenhurst-ravenhurst.b...

a person could say the same thing about jane's appearance
her unnaturally stiff and glossed hair, that unflattering and outdated blouse, and not to mention the holes poked in her own ears.  ugh....i can't look at her any more.  i think i'm gonna yak....

but before i do, let me say that she has no business being on that committee.  her remarks should be considered grounds for her removal.  i can't believe she is qualified, given the goal of their efforts.  is she trying to undermine it?

....just going to coment on her own self-mutilations and masochism
Look at that dyed, permed, hot iron curled hair. Ears may be pierced but clip-ons hurt like heck. Eyebrows are plucked, waxed or tattooed. Collars all so tight they are like nooses. And I'll bet she shaves underarms and legs, or waxes. Probably not bikini line though. Who is she to talk???

....oops addendum
That is not a blouse buttoned tight, it is a scarf tied round her neck.... so she is into breath play too... that is too kinky for most of us I think.

This sounds like an ACLU lawsuit
just waiting to happen.

rude as hell
she should at least be reprimanded for treating potential constituents that way. There is no excuse for such rudeness

Jane
The good news is that the leading homophobe in the Missouri House (i.e., Jane) has reached the end of her term limit.  The bad news is that she is running for Senate.  You can learn more about here on her on her campaign site: http://jane-cunningham.com/ind...

Her husband is a political partronage job, appointed by Bush.  With any luck, they will be both be looking for new things to do next year.

Clones
Boy, those Sally Kern clones sure do get around don't they?!

Re: Secret Agenda
Good one Fritz!  LMAO!!

What the ????
I suppose then that she's swept her school system clean of any burn victims lest their appearance offend her.

But at the same time...
...am I the only one who thinks that, just maybe, if you're going to address a Member of Congress and stand in for an oppressed group, you might just MAYBE want to think a little bit about "first impressions" and how you're going to come across? It's not that different from wearing a tie or a suit to a job interview; no matter how "oppressive" you might find the clothes, you want to make a good impression and you want the CONTENT of your interview to matter, as opposed to distracting them with your dress.

Maybe I don't know much about facial piercings, but assuming they can be removed temporarily, I do believe that someone wishing to drive home a point to a U.S. Congresswoman who is already likely to have a closed mind should at least try to "win her over" and make her more likely to listen to them by dressing, if not "conservatively", at least "in a way unlikely to detract from your message" if possible. While I admire these students and of course saying "I wanted to vomit" is a HORRIBLY rude way to speak of ones own constituents, an office in the United States Congess is not the mosh pit at Lollapalooza. I completely support these students' right to dress as they want to in their everyday lives, but when they are purporting to speak for GLBT students everywhere, it bothers me that they were unwilling to dress in a dlightly more professional matter.

Maybe for Congress
But this is silly little representative in the Missouri House.  Jefferson City is not a professional place.  There are dogs walking the corridors of the capitol, for instance.

[ Parent ]
Dogs?
Really? Strays?  People's dogs accustomed to being let out into the halls?  is this real?

[ Parent ]
I agree, mostly
As one would for an interview, I'd imagine one would do better seeking a Representative or Senator dressed conservatively.  However, if the contact was unexpected, then I don't see how they could have erased all vestige of their piercings presto chango.

This was likely the first lobbying effort for these teens
It's a learning process. When you have a broad citizens' lobby day, you get newbies who don't go to the orientation the week before, and who show up for the bus in clothes they would wear to school. We are talking about high school and college kids here, not mature adults. If you want to grow a movement, you need to let young people and other newbies in, and accept that some will not be completely trained by lobby day.

Jane Speaks
Sure she found their appearance "painful" but Jane was only rude because they were from Kansas City...

I WAS THERE, THIS ARTICLE IS A LIE

I am a Lobbyist in Jefferson City and I remember talking to the group of "volunteer Lobbyists"  who's recollection of this event was very different. In fact the response to why the boys were turned away was not because of looks at all but because of the lack of respect shown towards the Representative and that the representative had an important meeting with Representative Low. So my memory is something that I know for fact, this article is noting but false rumors and lies. I hope you will look for the truth and not settle on a set of lies.

Lobbyist for whom? Rep.'s staffer, more likely!
Can't you people spell, or capitalize appropriately or at least consistently?

[ Parent ]
Truth
Did anyone confirm the incident?  If what this person says is truth, then Rep. Cunningham deserves an apology from the community. While not an ally or even close, it hurts us more than someone like her if we fall into this sort of game.

[ Parent ]
Bigoted?
Pam, what about this woman's over-the-top response is bigotry?  Are you saying that people with facial piercings are a class of people as clearly defined as African-Americans, Hispanics, Jews, Gays and Lesbian?  That's a real stretch.  She was rude, intemperate, vulgar and unprofessional--but she wasn't being bigoted. The woman's response was beneath contempt because she should uphold the dignity of her office and treat all her constituents with respect.  But given her age, I'm not surprised she finds facial piercings repellent.  Many people do, even younger ones.

Here's one more reason to hope that Jane Cunningham loses her bid for the state senate.

Some young people take the time to go to Jefferson City and carry out their civic duty by lobbying their legislators and Queen Jane kicks them out because she doesn't like how they look.  Painfully stupid.
