The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Bigot eruption: GOP House member refers to Obama as 'boy'

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 18:45:00 PM EDT

(UPDATE: The Freepers cannot contain themselves. They yearn to use "boy" and "monkey" when referring to Obama. Read after the jump.)

I have the urge to say something about "crackers," but I'll let it rest...let's just say that it's healthy for the political process to have Republicans show their true colors in such beautifully raw fashion. Two snaps to this utterance by Rep. Geoff Davis (R-KY) as he paid tribute to the  good old days of the Old South.

U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, a Hebron Republican, compared Obama and his message for change similar to a "snake oil salesman." He said in his remarks at the GOP dinner that he also recently participated in a "highly classified, national security simulation" with Obama.

"I'm going to tell you something: That boy's finger does not need to be on the button," Davis said. "He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country."

Davis was evidently nudged by someone who realized this was a bigot eruption of incredible proportions -- after all, the public use of "boy" to refer to black men has fallen out of public favor among the well-heeled race-baiting set in the GOP. He personally delivered a letter to Obama's office offering a CYA apology, saying it was a "poor choice of words."  Yes, indeed. Oliver Willis:
If you want to know why this sort of thing is going to be an ongoing problem for McCain and the GOP as Obama moves up to officially become the nominee look no further than the comments on conservative blogs QandO and Rick Moran. Both McQ and Moran know that this is really really stupid but at least of their commenters simply cannot see the problem with calling a grown ass black professional man, let alone one as accomplished as Sen. Obama, a "boy". They simply chalk it up to "political correctness".

What's next? Some con calls Obama a n****r and they shrug their soldiers and say "What's the big deal?" I wouldn't bet against it.

See the incredible Freepi comments...

Pam Spaulding :: Bigot eruption: GOP House member refers to Obama as 'boy'
Note that the founder of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson says this about his site:
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

At least they are consistent about "homosexualism." Apparently none of the below qualifies as racist.

Actual Freeper Quotes

Obama gets to "explain" his stupid comments, and GOPers can't grovel fast enough. Reminds me of Goerge "I'm sorry about Macaca" Allen.

Nice job, Davis. Put the spotlight on yourself. IDIOT! When your enemy is destroying himself, get the hell out of the way.

Its TRUE though! That BOY'S finger does NOT need to be on the button.

what happened to the non-apology apology: "I regret if anyone was offended?" or "I regret if my remarks offended anyone." This is an actual apology.

Well, I am a bitter small town, gun owning, Catholic that lives in PA and I must agree that this CLOWN shouldn't be the next President.

Geoff "Bwooaaah!" Davis has a ring to it. We'll just call him "Bwoah" (southern talk for "boy") instead of Congressman.

"boy"
Republican
Southerner

He'll be lucky to keep his job after the MSM gets done with him

My country has gone insane.

What is wrong with what he said? The boy IS a snake oil salesman. Age gives one a different definition of "boy and girl". The word "boy" is not in and of itself a racist slur.

The candidate whose middle name shall never be mentioned, may also not be referred to as "boy." Add that to the list of special political no-no's in this race.

Words not to be used when describing Obama or anyone associated with Obama:

Boy
Monkey
"his" middle name
white or black
inexperienced
junior senator
racist
typical black folk

I am sick to death of the perpetually offended and the wimps who can't wait to apologize to them. Sheesh!!!

For Gods sake someone tell the Republican members of Congress to keep their mouths shut...and for Gods sake please don't anyone call him uppity

Davis is my representative. I guess I'll have to call the old man and tell him his comments didn't bother me.

Its TRUE though! That BOY'S finger does NOT need to be on the button.

You can't say the word monkey any more even in talking about one. You can say boy even though in an older man's eyes Obama is a boy. You can use the word chocolate even if you are asking for a candy bar. People are getting CRAZY. Life is too short for all this insanity.

Good grief - I know the term "boy" can be taken as offensive when referring to a black male, but in my lexicon it's also just a plain term for any other man (usually but not necessarily youthful) - such as an athlete, a regular joe, a celebrity or politican, etc. It is sad to see the lexicon shrink out of PC fears. The congressman should have said, "I was referring to his youthful immaturity, not his race. His overreaction is simply evidence of the immaturity I was referring to, and the type of intimidation that substitutes for discussion on the Left."

Words used to have actual meanings. "Boy" means an immature male during the years from birth to adulthood, e.g., "separate the men from the boys." As far as real-life experience goes, Obama is really and truly immature. And "snake oil salesman" - yes, he actually is one of those.

BOY? You don't say that about an AA person. I learned that when I was young. Slavery and all that.

There are certain words right wingers just can't say regarding minorities. It's okay if you're a wacko liberal, but not if you're on the right.

You can't call a black man a boy, but you can call a cracker a boy.

You can't say a black man likes chicken or watermelon.

You can't say "those people" when the people happen to be minority, but you can say "typical white person" all day long.

As if that wasn't enough
From TPM ElectionCentral:

"NRCC-Backed Candidates In Mississippi And Louisiana Have Both Flirted With White Supremacist Groups"

http://tpmelectioncentral.talk...

The Mississippi case is fairly straightforward -- the GOP candidate is a mayor who had once agreed to accept a gift to his city from a white supremacist group, then backed off. The Louisiana example is a lot more complicated, involving attempts to cover up payments connected to the infamous Klansman/Neo-Nazi David Duke."

The GOP...the gift that keeps on giving (when it isn't taking everything that isn't nailed down...).

His unconscious speaking
He said boy because he meant boy.

But what the hell kind of possible highly classified, national security simulation" with Obama did he have, when he's in the House and Obama-Wan Kenobi is in the Senate?

Methinks his unconscious is speaking and he's imagining his own finger on Obama's nuke. After all, he's a Republican, and we know what they're like:

MOUNT HOLLY SPRINGS, Pa. -  A Cumberland County commissioner who
resigned last week admitted hiring prostitutes and using hidden cameras
to record at least 100 sexual encounters in his house, police said.

Police said Bruce Barclay told them he recorded as many as 500 sexual
encounters and that subjects were not aware they were being taped.
Cameras were secreted inside radios, motion detectors and intercom
speakers, according to a search warrant affidavit.

The warrant, citing an investigation into possible privacy invasion and
prostitution, allows police to search computers, DVDs and other items
seized from Barclay's home.

Barclay is being investigated in relation to a rape allegation, according to court records, but he has not been charged with a crime. His lawyer, Matt Gover, has said Barclay did not rape anyone and resigned because the investigation would make it difficult to perform his official duties.

Investigators said Barclay admitted hiring prostitutes on a weekly basis. A 19-year-old man said Barclay paid a male prostitute $1,500 for a March trip to Barclay's home in West Palm Beach, Fla., the warrant affidavit states.

Gover said Wednesday that Barclay admits "errors in judgment" in his private life but performed his public service beyond reproach. He said Barclay disputes some of the claims made by police in the search warrant
affidavit.

Barclay, 48, a Republican, had been elected to a second term in November.

The Good Rep
Geoff Davis???   Honey, one can spell it any way any way one wants...  Classic, just classic.

If you won't, Pam,
I will! :)

I hereby dub thee, Rep Geoff "Sits on a Ritz" Davis...

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

This wouldn't fly
if it were the other way around (reference every other post on racial reconciliation @ Pandagon or PHB, all of which I agree with):

"I have the urge to say something about "crackers," but I'll let it rest..."

Really necessary?

the two slurs are not equivalent
Cracker is indeed a slur (a cultural one). It wouldn't carry the same connotation as "boy" by any stretch of the imagination "cracker" plays into northern assumptions of southerners being uncouth, backward, and ignorant.

What it doesn't do is imply emasculation, or a child-like, subordinate, and an inferior, deferential social position to whites -- that's what "boy" is accomplishing here - demeaning Obama's qualifications in a quick and dirty way. Davis, a child of the South, knows exactly what he said and what it means.

The fact that Mitch McConnell, also from Kentucky, said zero about Davis's comments speaks volumes about the GOP.

The problem here is that Davis is an elected official. Is Davis speaking for his constituents here?  A white Dem Southern man running for president  -- would he call that man a "cracker" if he didn't agree with his position?

[ Parent ]
McConnell couldn't say anything about Davis' comments
He was too busy trashing Hillary Clinton with a Hooters "joke", for which I'm sure he'll be apologizing -- as well as distancing himself from Rep. Davis' racist idiocy -- any minute now.  NOT.

"If the apocalypse comes... beep me." -- Buffy Summers

Congrats
on engaging in "false equivalence", a favorite ploy of right-wingers.   It's like saying Micheal Moore is the liberal version of Limbaugh.  Not equivalent, whatever you think of him.  You could become an effective Republican with that start.

[ Parent ]
Woops
I think I should have prefaced my statement with: I do not condone ANYTHING said by the nut about Obama, and fully agree with calling him out on his batshittery.  I just didn't understand the need to reciprocate.  Sorry if it appears that I was hijacking the moral ground.  Not my intention.  Also, I'm so not a Rethuglican :(

[ Parent ]
Sorry for the misunderstanding
I've been feeling "bitter" the last few days, and went off on a hair trigger.  :)

[ Parent ]
Use of labeling words...
..is something taught.  A person who uses such words and acts like it is the first time is not fooling anyone.

It takes the change of heart to stop using words that are labeling of others.  I am willing to bet that Geoff Davis uses more than just boy with in his circle of close friends.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

That's why he keeps

   using the analogy,

I am willing to bet that Geoff Davis uses more than just boy with in his circle of close friends.

because it is a habit. If he had stopped using such insensitive terminology years ago, it wouldn't have been a slip of the tongue.
And birds of a feather flock together:

Dear Ms. Austin,

Thank you for contacting me in opposition to the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me on this issue.

Judge Southwick is a highly respected attorney with an extensive record of public service as a judge and military officer. He received his law degree from the University Of Texas School Of Law and served as a law clerk for Judge Charles Clark of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Judge John F. Onion , Presiding Judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. He later served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Departme nt of Justice's Civil Division. Among h is duties was supervision of the Federal Programs Branch, which represents the United States in lawsuits, and the Office of Consumer Litigation, which enforces the country's consumer protection laws. In 2005, Judge Southwick served in Iraq as a member of the Mississippi National Guard's 155th Brigade Combat Team.

As you may know, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved him for a district court judgeship. Despite Judge Southwick's fine record, some have attempted to derail his nomination with claims of bad jurisprudence and unfairness. I feel Judge Leslie Southwick is a dedicated public servant and highly qualified jurist who deserves a fair confirmation proceeding .

While we disagree on this issue, I thank you for sharing your views on this important matter . Please feel free to contact me in the future about other issues important to you.

Sincerely,

Senator David Vitter

Off topic here, but here's an article that

I would also like to recommend a new book. American Fascists, its a look inside the Christian right and how toxic they are to the ideal of American Democracy. So far what I've read either makes me mad or really scared.

When Neocons become "Bitter"
"...they tend to cling to things which are familiar - racism, their early Klan roots, lynching parties - you know...all those old familiar things which give them a feeling of continuity"

(with apologies to Sen. Obama)

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

Obama's remark not tragic
New polling shows that among Democrats and Independents, Obama's "bitter" remarks have not hurt him:

How this plays out in PA is anyone's guess, and I shouldn't even say PA because it induces the stuttering response, right Louise?  ;-)

Wow...
Jesus, Mary and Joseph!*  How could this assbag not have known that his comment would be recognized for the racist crap it is?  Or is he so prejudiced that he simply doesn't give a damn how he's perceived?

Oh well.  At least he's proving what is perhaps the greatest example of Shakespearean wisdom: "let the fools identify themselves."
