Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Chelsea Clinton partying at Portland's Red Dress Night

by: RadicalRuss

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 08:05:52 AM EDT

Bill & Hillary's daughter Chelsea Clinton visited Portland and stopped by at one of our LGBT community fundraisers, Red Dress Night.
Snark, anyone?  I can't muster any because I'm just too thrilled to see someone so high up in the campaign stratosphere gettin' down in a gay bar with dudes in red dresses.  All she needs now is a shot of Crown Royal.

(Well, I guess I can muster a little snark.)

Party with gays--
--and have best friends who are gay, but don't support equal rights for gays.

It's so closeted 1950s.

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

But does she?
We already know her mother doesn't support full inclusion for gays, but can the same be said about Chelsea?  Do we even know?

[ Parent ]
Assuming she is there campaigning, Chelsea is her mother's surrogate
That means that, officially, her positions are the same as her mother's.

If she is actually "off the clock" and is not in Portland on campaign business, then her positions are her own. The thing is that she has not been public on her own views, making it difficult to tell where she personally stands on equal rights and other issues.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.

[ Parent ]
Surrogates
But look at the trouble both campaigns have had with surrogates who have had to be silenced or chastised or apologized for or smacked down or put into witness protection programs!

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

[ Parent ]
and yet,
she did show with what the fundies will cal OUTRAGEOUSLY dressed and confused men, lol.  the only time i've seen obama with an out gay person was when he was on the hrc-logo debates, where it couldn't be avoided.

i don't put a lot of stock in such appearances either, but you must admit that someone and her staff has no fear being seen with lgbts, whereas someone else seems to have a history of avoiding being seen with us.  i see that chelsea even donned something red herself.  good for her!  chelsea clinton knows how to have fun while on the job!

Optics
It's all for show.

And the show must go on.

I actually prefer Chelsea to either of her parents at this point.

Think of it--she's dodged sniper fire--at the age of eight!  Now that's foreign policy experience.

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

[ Parent ]
if it is all for show
then you must agree that there is reason that obama is never seen with out lgbt people:  he needs to show bigots that he does not stand with us.

Lurleen on Twitter

[ Parent ]
No, I mustn't agree
I'm saying that showing up or not showing up is immaterial to policy.

Clinton is just better at playing the game through surrogates and by herself.

Sorry to spoil your "Gotcha!"

:-)

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

[ Parent ]
it wasn't a gotcha,
it was an attempt to get you to debate rather than try to change the subject.

i agree that showing up or not showing up may be immaterial to policy per se, but it does send a very loud message to the electorate.  we've talked a lot on this blog about government giving a lot of tacit approval for anti-lgbt violence, etc.  it is nice to see that at least clinton isn't playing into that.  on the contrary, clinton's message is "i'm as happy to campaign openly for queer votes as for votes of boilermaker drinkers, even before a major vote in a homophobic state." obama's message is "i am really uncomfortable with you people".  neither message may reflect their policy goals, but the vibe is picked up upon by people in general and can have local consequences.  in that way i think it is important.

Lurleen on Twitter

[ Parent ]
So disagreeing with you is changing the subject?
Well, that seems pretty clear, then.  It's an interesting rhetorical strategy you have.

I still don't agree that Clinton is any better on lgbt issues than Obama is; I don't see that in her record.

But I wouldn't vote for either of them based on lgbt issues first and foremost, anyway.  if that's changing the subject, so be it.

Most every one...

of those are the flap I avoid on those "special occasions", where and when some men, and probably, mostly gay men, can don a female costume to make a mockery of femininity. Oh yea, they can't help dressing that way. What an aberration and a detriment to the course that would take us to an inclusive ENDA, these "goodwill" games. It seems that way, since to HRC, a majority of gay men and Congress think that's what we're all about, games, thanks to the "Drag Queens" for instilling such respect for our race in the gay sector with their "tomfoolery".

i don't put a lot of stock in such appearances either

This is really educating Congress about Gender identity isn't it. I can't see the positive light for the glare.

someone else seems to have a history of avoiding being seen with us

Yes, I don't see any transexuals in that picture and other than rare occasions, besides your regular song and dance routines, it looks the same way in this photo that it does in most gay bars, no transsexual women.

I'd rather be a lion for one day, than a sheep for my entire life.

[ Parent ]
And...
Does she actually support equal rights for men who have been photographed wearing red dresses?

You know...

men covered by 'gender identity' but not 'sexual orientation'?

I'm just askin'.

Kat

>^..^<

oh KatRose
You can't expect Chelsea to understand that nuance...there hasn't been enough educating done to make those claims. She is only there to get votes.  She shouldn't have to think about things like that.

This is the appearances only zone.  No fair looking beneath the surface.  You will give America a headache.

lsughing out loud, as they say.  not.

[ Parent ]
But what does.........
John Aravosis have in common with them?

[ Parent ]
it depends..
Each of those men should be asked how much they value their weiners.  If they are very much attached to their dingers and all the power that is implied in the hunk of flesh, then they can pass as men.

If they don't use their pee-pee to the fullest extent possible and in ways that Assaholis deems acceptable, then those men should not be considered equal, gay or covered by ENDA.

If assaholis isn't comfortable then none of us are.

[ Parent ]
Just because
a candidate or a candidate's surrogate shows up at your event doesn't mean that candidate supports you. Hillary Clinton has a long history of campaigning to the GLBTI community and taking our money without delivering on any promises made. Yet many in our community refuse to see that and fawn over the Clintons whenever they appear and treat them like rock stars anyway.

Never try to train a pig. It's a waste of time and it annoys the pig.

Crown
All she needs now is a shot of Crown Royal.

Don't we all.  :-)

I'll stick with Scottish single malts, thank you

I'll third that.
Slainte!

Crown Royal
Wow!  Talk about a blast from the past.  It's been a long   since I had a high-end Royal Crown "whiskey sour", as long as ... well it's been long. ;-)
I need one now.

Waaaaay OT, but cool
If anyone here likes RPG's, you'd like Kingdom of Loathing.  It's a goofy fantasy MMORPG where you gain adventure points by eating junk food and drinking booze. I'm a 7th level Sauceror.  If you don't like puns beware KOL!

Electricity's for light bulbs!

[ Parent ]
An Adventurer is You!
I haven't played KOL in ages! I got a Pastamancer up to about 12th level, and then I started having network connectivity issues and I dropped it. You're tempting me to check back, though...

[ Parent ]
The Deep Fat Friars
are the group I'm assisting in my current quest.  My clan is The Gay and Lesbian Village. They seem like a nice group of people, very cordial. Right now, I'm "falling down drunk" for the evening. Gotta love rollover :)

Where's Rudi?
This sounds like a perfect venue for Giuliani.  Though maybe red isn't his color...

BTW
The Hebrew under the tattoo'd Star of David on that guy's arm is

Dodi li va'ani lo

I am my beloved's and he is mine

Sounds suspiciously like a marriage-related sentiment!  I wonder if Chelsea will be disavowed for associating with such a tattoo.

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

Ok, I'll bite
It's really a shame that one of those big girls didn't have the balls to show up in a blue dress.

And btw Jenna and Barbara used to hang out at a gay bar a block from the Governor's mansion in Austin back when they were in HIGH SCHOOL. They had several gays back then. I wouldn't read anything into the child of a politician showing up at a gay bar.

Snark? Why?
This thread is quite disturbing.

....a thousan words?
In this case its worth at least 100,000!  Love the pic.

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,

...oops there it goes again.

Ok ... I will preview, I will preview, I will preview... this time.

Anyway just wanted to add Chelsea has never looked happier or more relaxed in any picture I have seen of her, just plain open and having a kick or two.

Imagine what Sally Kern would look like here?

priceless
Imagine what Sally Kern would look like here?

Now that is a photo I would pay to see! :)

Snark by proxy
How about a joke John McCain gave at a 1998 Senate fundraiser:

Q: Why is Chelesa Clinton so ugly?

A: Because Janet Reno is her father.

http://www.salon.com/news/1998...

I couldn't have made that up even if I had wanted - which I don't.    :(
