Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Hagee Weakly Apologies to Catholic Folk; Should We Hold Our Collective Breath For Other Apologies?

by: Autumn Sandeen

Tue May 13, 2008 at 19:30:00 PM EDT

Well, Catholic League President Bill Donohue is satisfied about Rev. John Hagee's apology to the Catholic Church.

"The tone of Hagee's letter is sincere. He wants reconciliation and he has achieved it. Indeed, the Catholic League welcomes his apology. What Hagee has done takes courage and quite frankly I never expected him to demonstrate such sensitivity to our concerns. But he has done just that. Now Catholics, along with Jews, can work with Pastor Hagee in making interfaith relations stronger than ever. Whatever problems we had before are now history. This case is closed."

I had no idea that Bill Donohue spoke for all Catholics, but apparently he believes his pronouncement is good enough close the case for all Catholics.

The apology sent via Bill Donahue came with a kind of caveat. Rev. Hagee's apparent calling of the Catholic Church "the apostate church" and the "great whore" weren't specific to the Catholic Church -- the Catholic Church and all other Christian Churches apparently will become "the apostate church" and the "great whore" after the rapture, during the tribulation  ...

Catholic And Protestant Church - Great Whores In Tribulation

And, this explanation came with a weakly worded, if I have offended you kind of apology...

Weak Hagee Apology

Apparently, it doesn't take much of an apology to satisfy Catholics, if one is to judge by Mr. Donohue's acceptance of Rev. Hagee's apology.

John McCain wooed Rev. Hagee for his endorsement for a year -- should Sen. John McCain breath easier now that Rev. Hagee has sort of apologized to Catholics?

Well, Rev. Hagee has some other issues. His quote on NPR regarding Hurricane Katrina should still be problematic:

All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.

(For the record, Rev. Hagee retracted his comments on what caused Hurricane Katrina, then un-retracted his retraction.)

A quote of his regarding Islam could also be considered problematic:

[Rev. Hagee comments on Islam and Jewish people after the fold]

Autumn Sandeen :: Hagee Weakly Apologies to Catholic Folk; Should We Hold Our Collective Breath For Other Apologies?
Terry Gross: If you use the Bible as the basis for policy, is there any room for compromise? And if you use the bible as the basis for policy, should Muslims use the Koran as the basis for their policy, and then again, what possible basis is there for compromise at that point?

John Hagee: There is really no room for compromise between radical Islam --

TG: I'm not talking about radical Islam. I'm just talking about Islam in general.

JH: Well Islam in general -- those who live by the Koran have a scriptural mandate to kill Christians and Jews.

And, he's also claimed that Jews, as a people, are Christ-killers:

Where that leaves them is that during the tribulation, the book of Revelation says in the 14th chapter that God is going to send angels who will preach the everlasting gospel across the face of the earth so that everyone will have the opportunity of knowing who Jesus Christ is. Now, when it comes to the Jewish people, Zechariah very clearly says that they are not going to believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah until they see him. Zechariah says in the 14th chapter 'and when they, the Jewish people, see him whom they have pierced'--and the word pierced there actually refers to his rib and side--'when they see him whom they have pierced, they will weep as one weeps for his only son for a period of one week. They're simply not going to believe he is the Messiah until they actually see him, and that's at the Second Coming. Then, at that point in time, there is the judgment of the nations in which all nations are judged for the way in which they have treated the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, and the Jewish people are front and center in the kingdom of God that will be an eternal kingdom.

As to whether John McCain is still comfortable with Rev. Hagee's endorsement, McCain has stated "I've accepted his endorsement." And, just so we're clear that we know Rev. Hagee isn't McCain's pastor, but that Rev. Hagee's endorsement is more than just a random endorsement we should treat as the fodder of a guilt by association attack on Sen. McCain:

McCain didn't just "accept" Hagee's endorsement; he actively sought it. In fact, he "personally wooed Hagee for more than a year." Hagee recently told the New York Times Magazine that "it's true that McCain's campaign sought my endorsement."

I know my personal belief is that if you seek an endorsement, you take on the baggage that comes with that endorsement.

Thank you, Bill Donohue!
I am so glad that you took it upon yourself to accept an un-offered apology from Pastor Hagee for his Jew-hating remarks.  It's always wonderful when we benighted Hebrews have some wiser, more godly Christian take over for us because we are so deeply ignorant and helpless.

Pox vobiscum.

Weather was great for Pride Day!
Mr Hagee, can you explain that?

Well, if one good thing...

could come out of this, it will be that his flock will see his hypocracy and his lunacy and the roll will dwindly to a few friends and family. Then the foundation could donate the church to charitable uses, which is what should have been taking place all along in that building, not a lot of words that amount to hot air that profit no one. We already have Jesus, for what do we need these that have grandious ambitions of being some sort of apostle and spew venom out of their mouths or take occasion to abuse their position for a little romp in the hay? The human flocks have such an inferiority complex they'll allow themselves to be lead around by anyone and stand there week after week putting money into an offering plate to pay the electric bill and all that go along with maintaining a building of this sort and to fund his book club and cassette business.

I will never understand it and have never, since the PTL club of Jim Baker in the 70's. Lordy me!

James Bakker — Bakker left his PTL Ministries empire in 1987 after admitting an extramarital affair with Jessica Hahn, a former church secretary. He served five years in federal prison on fraud and conspiracy charges for illegally soliciting millions of dollars from followers.

Jimmy Swaggart — Resigned from the Assemblies of God in 1988 after a fellow preacher released photos of Swaggart with a prostitute. In 1991, he was stopped for a traffic violation while driving in a red-light district in California with a woman who said she was a prostitute.

The Rev. Henry J. Lyons — Lyons was forced out as leader of the National Baptist Convention USA after his then-wife set fire to a waterfront mansion he secretly owned with his mistress. He was convicted in 1999 of swindling millions of dollars from companies that wanted to do business with members of the denomination and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Archbishop Eugene Marino — The Roman Catholic prelate from Atlanta resigned in 1990 after a two-year affair with a woman half his age. The woman claimed Marino performed a marriage ceremony for them in which the two exchanged rings.

The Rev. Terry Hornbuckle — The founder of the Agape Christian Fellowship in Arlington, Texas, was sentenced in August to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting two women churchgoers and a third woman. Two of the victims said the minister had drugged them.

The Rev. Ted Haggard — The founder of New Life Church in Colorado resigned as pastor and as president of the National Association of Evangelicals after a gay prostitute claimed the two had drug-fueled sex regularly over three years. Haggard admitted he bought methamphetamine from the man and received a massage from him but denied that he used the drug and that the two had sex.

well, to be fair...
The Catholic is like...one guy with a computer...and his name is Bill Donohue.

He represents, like, such a small percentage of Catholics it's laughable he gets his name in print.

And they claim gay people are mentally disordered!
I watch a lot of Christian TV.  It's harmless fun and provides richer comedy than anything on the networks.  (My addiction to it started years ago when I heard Billy Graham say, "I raised my children with the Bible in my right hand and a hickory switch in my left."  I wanted to learn a lot more about these two forms of punishment.)  And of all the nutjobs, I'd say Hagee is the most obviously mentally disturbed.  Watching him always leaves me with a totally creeped-out feeling, of the kind I used to get from my more seriously disturbed clients, back when I worked with the mentally ill.  The only one who ever came close to him, in this department, was the late D. James Kennedy--who reportedly actually did have several mental breakdowns and was in and out of mental hospitals for the last three decades of his life.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
-Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

I live in ft. lauderdale
and to this day I shoot the bird at that loathsome "church" of the late (thank God ) James Kennedy, everytime I drive pass. That sick man was pure evil, and I'm sure his legacy lives on in that hotbed of bigots.
