Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Reality bites for Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Heath

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri May 16, 2008 at 09:30:00 AM EDT

Autumn and I have been passing on right-wing reaction yesterday's historic Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality in California, but I wanted to reserve a post for this unique reaction from fundie Mike Heath of the Christian Civic League of Maine.

He's basically cried uncle in terms of protecting the word "marriage," and wants to get back to basics, which sounds a lot like extermination, if you ask me. Homos have been compared to all sorts of things, but I don't think I've been referred to as a weed polluting a lawn. Via email from Blender Herb, who's on the CCLM mailing list:

Some people are suggesting that California's ridiculous Supreme Court decision on "marriage" yesterday is reason to renew Maine's push for a constitutional amendment. Those people are dead wrong.

While I support any real efforts to amend the Federal Constitution to protect marriage, I don't support a Maine constitutional amendment at this time. Anyone who has been paying attention to this issue in Maine for the past two decades knows that the entire Maine political establishment is in "love" with "gay" special interests.

The fight is over if we are going to protect the word marriage only. Most recommendations I hear for constitutional amendments will protect only the word marriage, and allow for civil unions and domestic partnerships. A cursory reading of the Massachusetts and California court decisions will reveal the folly of this approach.

We must attack this problem at its root. If you want to get rid of a weed you don't pull off the leaves. You destroy the root. The root idea of so-called same sex marriage is special rights for citizens on the basis of sexual wrongdoing. That is where the fight must be engaged.

Our only hope in the short term is the people. If everyone will get behind the League's referendum we can begin the process of righting the ship of state more quickly.

I call on all people of good will to support our referendum today. It is the loving thing to do. Let's support marriage and equality. We can't afford to wait.

And Mike's apparently found yet another version of The Homosexual Agenda. See his discovery below the fold.

Where are they getting our classified information?
1. What is the gay rights movement?

The gay rights movement is a highly-organized and disciplined effort to radically transform law, politics, culture, and society in general. Although there are many aspects to the gay rights movement, the most important aspect to consider at the present time is the effort to gain legal status for societal relationships based on homosexuality, in particular, same-sex marriage and so-called 'gay adoption.'

2.  What is the origin of the gay rights movement?

The gay rights movement, contrary to common belief, is not a new phenomenon. The first gay rights movement of which we have a record was the social upheaval in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Bible scholars have pointed out that the events in Sodom and Gomorrah have many parallels in modern times, and these include the tumultuous gatherings of vocal advocates of homosexuality and an insistence on imposing one's views on others. Recent demonstrations in major American cities, with Christians barricaded behind doors, while crowds of unruly "gay" activists protested in the streets, are very reminiscent of the Biblical account of the events in Sodom and Gomorrah.

And dammit, who is the mole turning over info about our action plan to Heath?
The problem we face today:
- Several states are considering the sanction of homosexual marriages.
- Gay couples are granted the privileges of married partners when it comes to insurance
 coverage.
- There are laws prohibiting the "discrimination" of homosexuals.
- The military has a "Don't ask ... don't tell" policy.
- Christians are being labeled as "homophobics", and criticized when they exercise their free speech rights in opposition to homosexuality, as being uncaring, unloving, judgmental, and hateful.
- Gay-Rights parades are being promoted on city streets.
- There is a "Gay Day" at Disney World.
- It is politically incorrect to be against homosexuality, and doing so can jeopardize a political career.
- The Boy Scouts of America were criticized, and lost funding, because they refused to accept an openly gay Scoutmaster.
- Television programs are rampant with gay issues - new programs regularly emerge with openly gay characters, gay makeovers, etc. They are being portrayed as NORMAL.
- The American Psychological Association has threatened to revoke the license of any psychologist or psychiatrist who counsels a homosexual to change his lifestyle.
- Sex change therapies on children are being offered.
Whoever is the leak, return your toaster pronto!

A reminder that the Blend has also received endorsements from the CCLM. Heath's colleague Mike Hein was enthusiastic:

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior."

So, what does he mean by:
The root idea of so-called same sex marriage is special rights for citizens on the basis of sexual wrongdoing. That is where the fight must be engaged.

I see - no marriage rights for people who are guilty of 'sexual wrongdoing'.   I would assume that adultery would be in the catalogue of 'sexual wrongdoing'?  Consequently that would mean annulling all marriages, where one cheated on the other?  I guess he already called Haggart, Craig, everyone else here, and about 20-30% of the American population?  Sounds like the right move!

To be fair...
...their view would be that no one should get a "special" adultery marriage.

The amazing thing is how twisted their underwear gets over people doing something that does not affect them. They have to come up with tortured meta logic to argue there is some deleterious effect.

In the end, these folks are nothing but overblown tattletales. Moooooooooooooom!!!!!!! Bobby ate TWO cookies instead of ONE!   Moooooooooooooom!!!!!!! Debbie is brushing her teeth the wrong way! Moooooooooooooom!!!!!!! Adam was kissing Steve!

Grow up and take care of your own family, people.

...I realize you are a sweet
(even if transplanted) Southern lady now, but Jeremy would have called them on the 'promotion of homosexual behavior'. He often reminds them that he doesn't just promote it  nor doe he need to practice it.. he just does it, does it well  and loves it.

Clothing.
If we're such a disciplined movement, I can't wait to get my fabulous uniform. Then I can wear it to Gay Day at Disney World and chant "Today Disney World, Tomorrow the Whole World! Bwahahahaha!!!!"

Not to mention...
...after we destroy heterosexual marriage, we'll ban heterosexual marriage, and then REQUIRE EVERYONE TO MARRY SOMEONE OF THE SAME SEX, DESTROYING SOCIETY FOREVER!!!!!

and then we'll break for lunch.

Note to humor-challenged fundies: the above is sarcasm. please see http://www.merriam-webster.com...

Well, the Dominionist Civic League should certain know a lot about being
a weed in the lawn of a democratic country. After all, their special arrogance and self-assigned claim to be the official spokesmodel for "Christians" is about the height of deception.
Their professed "religious" choices include an absolute dedication to a patriarchy based on a class system that supports dictatorship from the pulpit and punishment for not being of their "religious" persuasion. They ain't called representatives of the American Taliban for nothin'.

Whenever these clowns feel discriminated against, they rush to their cabal of con-artist con-servative "legal" organizations  created by the televangelista empire to "protect their constitutional rights" - which, in their mind, includes the right to persecute others for choosing their own religious beliefs in this so-called free country. Just imagine their indignation if there were constitutional amendments being circulated for signatures banning members of THEIR organization from marriage - after all, their "religious" choices aren't innate and can be changed, can't they?

If the gays were such nasty weeds in the lawn of civilization, we would have long ago established our own little "ex-dominionist" organizations, bullying parents through deception and false promises for their suspect fundie children and sending them through reform and reeducation programs. It sure seems to me that the only people advocating special rights are the dominionists, who contend their right to choose a religious belief that demands they persecute other constitutionally-protected American citizens rises above the rights of all other citizens. Ya can't get any more arrogant than that, sisters and brothers.

All of this has happened before...
It has been done before , Kevin

A secular state, tolerant of gays and lesbians, noted for its' learning and enlightened leadership that encouraged new ideas in the arts, sciences and literature was seduced by mediaval concepts and led into a nightmare by a religious fundamentalist who burned gays at the stake, burned the last known copy of Sappho's poetry, destroyed books, art and anything that smacked of secularism, ruling with an iron hand.

The state: Florence, centre of the Renaissance
The Fundamentalist:Girolamo Savonarola
The target: The Medici's secular state and their support of the Renaissance
His Allies: The Catholic Church til Savonarola demanded reforms in the Church
The years:1494-98
The Symbols: The Bonfires of the Vanities
The End: He died where, through fire, he had attempted to burn away the sin of sodomy by executing gays and attempted to extinguish the Renaissance by burning art, books and jewelry...

There is a movement to canonize him now...

"Florence was looking for heaven and instead became a vision of hell"
(Comment on Savonarola's rule)

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Badly as he wants to..
I wouldn't let him touch my root for a million bucks. Pam, you need a shot of "Mr. Playtown Hair" to go with your visualizations of Hartline and LaBarbera. There used to be one on the site but I can't find it now. I'll keep looking.

Check this out:

The pastors on Mike's crew attend a "Watchmen On The Walls" meeting, the violent hate-group reported on at BTB.

From the CCL Public Policy page:

We believe in the principle of equal protection of the law.  We, therefore oppose all discrimination on the basis of race, creed, nationality, gender or religion.  We support all reasonable and effective anti-discrimination laws necessary to insure equality of rights for every citizen.  We condemn every form of racism, bigotry, or hatred directed against any person or group.

Ah yes, the Christian viewpoint
Where "attacking", "destroying", and "fighting" are the loving things to do.

Scoops

I especially enjoyed the part about "with Christians barricaded behind doors."

Makes a good visual, sort of like Soylant Green's "The scoops are coming!  The scoops are coming!"

yeah, really.
Every Gay Rights Rally I have been to have been very reminiscent of Sodom and Gomorrah. Freakin' Gays have been DEMANDING that the crinkies behind the doors throw out someone to rape.  Yup, ever single one of them.

riiiiiiight.

What planet are these guys from?

BTW, Clue to Mr. Heath-bar:  The S & G crowd were HETEROSEXUALS!!!!!!!

Just goes to show what happens when someone tries to think without using the brain.

On way back to school
she and I spoke about some pretty yarn I bought; I told her I was going to make a baby blanket. When she asked who, I explained that this was a new friend I had met via blogs and that my friend and her partner were going to try to have a baby. She picked right up on the phrasing- we discussed the "how", about the California ruling yesterday, and how happy I am for my friend and many others. Then my 13 year old surprised me and I surprised her back.

She asked me how I would feel if she were to find herself attracted and wanting to date a woman someday.

So I pulled over, shut off the car, and we had a very long talk. As I told her, she is a smart girl and I know that whomever she chooses to care about and love will be a friend first and a kind, nice person with a good heart like her own- someone who values her and who will deserve and want the same treatment. And that I would be completely supportive of them and the relationship, as long as they were fair and good to each other.

That surprised her- she really didn't know I felt that way. But as I told her, I love her father very, very much- if she had that kind of strong and loving relationship with another person, why on Earth would I object? And what right would I have to object?

But I went on to talk about the current but hopefully changing atmosphere of hostility they potentially could face, including within her state (like Heath et al) and within her family- some of her own relatives would not be okay with it. But that would be their problem- not hers.

It was an eye-opening conversation for both of us. I asked her if this was a hypothetical or if she was currently attracted to a friend; she says hypothetical. But she now knows exactly how Dad and Mom feel, and that she has our unconditional love and support.

That's the way it's done.
The anti-gay belief of course, is that your child's sexuality is so fragile and mutable, that the mere suggestion is all it takes to turn her into a lesbian.
The reality is that you have provided her with a shining proof of your love for her, in the face of whatever other influences are coloring her opinion of the subject. That is what she will remember and take away from it, no matter what her truth turns out to be. Beautifully done.

Dammit
you made me cry. How the hell am I ever going to be a toughie at this rate?

Here's the thing and I'll be honest here. Before our kids were born, I don't know that I would have been able to say about our future kids that "it's okay if they're gay". So I don't know if it's a measure of gained knowledge/life, a deep love for our kids, or a combination of the two.

But somewhere along the line, something in me rejected not just the bigotry I was raised with and rejected on a surface level as a teen, but rejected bigotry within my family and myself.

One order of Calamine for Mikey!
"We must attack this problem at its root. If you want to get rid of a weed you don't pull off the leaves. You destroy the root. The root idea of so-called same sex marriage is special rights for citizens on the basis of sexual wrongdoing. That is where the fight must be engaged."

So if "special rights" are eliminated for LGBT's, all of us will just go away.  Or, in Mikey's thinking, will die off because our "root" has been destroyed.

**Newsflash Mike**

A groups rights are in place because of the group's existence.  Their existence isn't contingent on whether the rights exist or not.

Even if not a single right existed for LGBT's and we were forced "underground" (which I'm sure Mike and Co. would like nothing better), we'd still exist.

The hard truth is Mikey that we're not going anywhere and we'll just keep on giving your type "weed poisoning" complete with an itchy rash and making your life an absolute Hell!

"Uncaring, unloving, judgmental, and hateful"
What exactly should we call a person whose political vision includes preventing gay couples access to the "privilege" of insurance?

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

Christians routinely call for our execution
Comment like this one (uprated by other readers) aren't difficult to find at sites like ChristianPost.com:
It is fine for non Christians to believe in the seperation of Church and state, but any Christian who has read the Bible will see the stories of Kings who called Israel to repentance, and saw to it that the wicked, idolators fornicators and temple prostitutes (homosexuals) were iether executed or exiled.

At other times the priest hood would call the king of Israel to order, which brought about a reformation in Israel. The two have their distict responsibilities, the Church has excommunication as a means of discipline, and the state has the right to exercise capital punishment. And while the people worship the one true GOD as scripture requires the nation knows GOD's blessing.

...uncaring, unloving, judgmental, and hateful...

Mike, you left out superstitious, ignorant, and brutal.

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

origins of gay movement
I had no idea that the origins of the gay movement went all the way back to sodom and gomorrah!!! Hmmmmm, that page must be missing from my old testament.... Oy vey!

From WCSH/ NBC in Maine
Election officials say they expect to give the Christian Civic League of Maine the go-ahead next week to start a petition drive aimed at sending the proposal to the Legislature no sooner than November 2009.

The repeal effort would then likely be decided by Maine voters.

The civic league's proposal would repeal Maine's law protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination. It would reaffirm Maine's prohibition of same-sex marriage. It also would bar clerks from issuing marriage licenses to persons of the same sex, and bar municipalities from licensing civil unions.

To be continued...

"The Homosexual Agenda" is a fabricated book by the Right.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

The Gay Rights Movement had originated in the mid-20th century.  The act of making different kinds of people uncomfortable (like what the "Christian" Civic League is doing) originated in Sodom and Gomorrah.  Like the two mentioned cities, the CCL is going down.

The problem we face today:
-We are an ignorant elistist group who are trying to prevent nonconformists from being equal to us.
-We actually don't know the meaning of "politically incorrect".  We just play that card so it won't make us look stupid and ignorant.
-The government isn't bowing down to us only.
-We are afraid that Wayne Besen and Pam Spaulding will expose us.  That's why we retaliate by calling them "bigots".
