The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

BREAKING NEWS: Tests reveal Sen. Ted Kennedy has malignant brain tumor

by: Autumn Sandeen

Tue May 20, 2008 at 13:23:53 PM EDT

Updates below the fold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From the Associated Press:
Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat say tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. Preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma, they said.
His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.
More at the link.
Autumn Sandeen :: BREAKING NEWS: Tests reveal Sen. Ted Kennedy has malignant brain tumor
Update 1. (11:06 PDT):
* Boston Globe: What kind of brain tumor does Kennedy have?
Sen. Edward Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant glioma. Here's the National Cancer Institute's explanation of the tumor:
Malignant gliomas are the most common primary brain tumor, accounting for more than half of the more than 18,000 primary malignant brain tumors diagnosed each year in the United States. These tumors are the second-most common cause of cancer death in the 15 to 44 age group.
The outlook for patients with malignant gliomas is poor. Median survival for patients with moderately severe (grade III) malignant gliomas is three to five years. For patients with the most severe, aggressive form of malignant glioma (grade IV glioma or glioblastoma multiforme), median survival is less than a year.
Surgery is recommended for all operable brain tumors and is usually followed by radiation therapy. Several studies have shown that adding chemotherapy to radiation can improve patients' survival. In June 2004, after the completion of the current study, researchers announced that adding the drug temozolomide (Temodar®) to radiation therapy increased median survival in patients with glioblastoma multiforme by about two months (see related story). This approach is now considered the standard of care for the initial treatment of these tumors.
* Boston Globe: Mass. General statement on Kennedy's brain tumor:
Over the course of the last several days, we've done a series of tests on Senator Kennedy to determine the cause of his seizure. He has had no further seizures, remains in good overall condition, and is up and walking around the hospital. Some of the tests we had performed were inconclusive, particularly in light of the fact that the Senator had severe narrowing of the left carotid artery and underwent surgery just 6 months ago. However, preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma in the left parietal lobe. The usual course of treatment includes combinations of various forms of radiation and chemotherapy. Decisions regarding the best course of treatment for Senator Kennedy will be determined after further testing and analysis. Senator Kennedy will remain at Massachusetts General Hospital for the next couple of days according to routine protocol. He remains in good spirits and full of energy.
UPDATE 2 FROM PAM: Yes, the god-fearing denizens of the Freepi swamps were so vile after hearing the news about Ted Kennedy that the moderator posted this message upon shutting down the thread:
Some of you are a disgrace to this forum, and life is too short to waste cleaning up your messes.
Statements on Kennedy:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid:
"The Senate is a family.  We are all concerned about the health of Senator Kennedy.  He is a friend, the model of public service and an American icon.
"And anyone who knows Ted Kennedy also knows that he is a fighter.  He has a work ethic like no other and has risen to every challenge he's faced - and we are confident he will rise to this one as well.  It's no surprise to me that when I talked with his wife today, she told me he is in good spirits and full of energy.
"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Senate family are with Ted and the Kennedy family.  We are not sure when he will return to the Senate, but we all look forward to his recovery.  Millions of Americans have benefited from the work of Ted Kennedy, and I know he's not done yet."
Representative Edward J. Markey:
"Ted Kennedy is the greatest Senator in American history and a tireless fighter for America's families. I know that he will take on this latest challenge with the same fighting spirit, strength and courage he has always shown. My thoughts and prayers are with him, his wife, Vicki, and his family. I look forward to seeing him fully recover and working with him for many, many more years to come."
Rep. Barney Frank:
"The news about Senator Kennedy's health is disappointing to most Americans, and it is particularly sad news for those of us who've had the privilege of working under his leadership for Massachusetts, and for the goals he has championed.  I hope that the great fighting spirit that has helped him win so many tough battles will continue to serve him well, and I hope the knowledge that hundreds of millions - if not more - people around the world are pulling for him will prove a source of strength at this difficult time."
Senator Dick Durbin:
"Mr. President, we've heard the sad news about our friend Ted Kennedy.  Those of us who've stood by his side know that there is no better ally and no more determined fighter.  Now, as Ted Kennedy faces another great fight, we know that he will bring the same courage to the battle.  We also know that Ted has spent his entire life caring for those in need.  It's time for those of us who love Ted and his family to care for them and join in prayer to give them strength."
Was most likely answer.
Dependng on the actually pathology report, these can be treated fairly easily and well. I possibly will even go to Mass again, just for him.
It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters
...All over this Land.
..and would be smallish.
As the first report from CT scan was 'negative'. CT's don't pick up lesions smaller than 1 cm,(a dime) if no dye is used. Also brain tumors of any size push on the rest and that can be fairly easily seen on CT scan.
Small is good. Treatable is even better. If they are not saying surgery at all that means this particular type should respond very well (and that translates usually to over 90%+ cure) with the chemo/readiation they are planning.
Thanks for the explanation
Best of luck to Senator Kennedy.
What are the expected
outcomes (roughly) for someone his age with a <1cm lesion?
Thanks for offering up the info!
Electricity's for light bulbs!
Freepers bubbling with suppressed glee.
Their posts are filled with snide comments about 'immediate retirement' from the Senate, combined with sanctimonious asides about God 'sending Ted a message'. Thank goodness their prayers are ineffectual; otherwise we'd probably all be dead. Assholes.
A shock to my system from the freeper managment...
I just wandered over there, and I was shocked to see that apparently their moderators have actually been at least somewhat actively purging threads that have gotten too hate-filled.  Either that, or the crazies that post there are putting up a really good illusion of being in fear of having topics deleted...
But even that shows their true colors, I think...
On my own level, here's hoping for the best for Senator Kennedy.
[ Parent ]
Scared that Bill O Reilly will find another 'kill all the fa**ot ni**ers' posts
...and make them look bad. but I forgot; liberals write those posts to make Freepers look like sick-minded, intolerant trash.
[ Parent ]
It's called "Mobying"
And is hardly ever practiced these days.
I'll quote Moby himself, on how to get people to vote against GWB:
"For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion. Then you go to an anti-immigration website chat room and ask, 'What's all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?'"
It happens. But at Free Republic, there's no need for it. They  do a far better job of looking like "sick-minded, intolerant trash" than the fakes ever could.
There is no situation so complex it can't get even worse
[ Parent ]
Yes,
I just read about on the AOL boards and the raving lunatics are frothing with their hatred. I bet most of these A**holes probably consider themselves Christian too.
Senator Kennedy
will be in my prayers.
Prognosis unknown...
Having been through this with my Mom...
>1cm good
any size with the wrong type of malignancy = less than 12 months
Right (such as it is) kind of malig i.e. slow growing and responsive = 5 years or more.
Right now there is no way to know.
He is in the absolute best wing (Philips House - had an uncle there at Mass General...it is like staying at the Ritz Carleton in a private suite for $30,000 a day...really - 30 Large, 30 Boxes of Ziti, One Years starting pay for most of us every day.) In the best Hospital in Boston.
If he does have the worst case we can count on Oil Joe Kennedy (Bobby's son, Ted's nephew) to get the nod - worse things could happen.  I personally find him to be among the best the clan ever produced.
I have known the Kennedy's personally all of my life - with lots of personal history...
Once had to help the senior senator up off the floor at Bud's Country Lounge in Hyannis Mass at 1:30 am after he had a gastrointestinal event prompted by bad scotch.
Went to High School with Caroline and John, Jr at Middlesex and Concord Academy.  Sad about John. He was NOT a bad guy.
Had a dear friend severely injured on the vinyard by a K Cousin in a jeep rollover. Wheelchair bound for life.
Chappaquiddic was on my sister's wedding eve and about a dozen siren blaring State Police cars arrived during the reception to gather politicos for the shitstorm.
(And I knew the lead Chappaq. Investigator for the Mass State Police Sgt. Bernie Flynn...ate lunch with him probably a hundred times- if you google the picture of Ted in the neck brace, thats Bernie standing behind him with the map of Ireland on his face...ask me what the real true story of Chapaquiddic was some other time...)
So...
Eventually the seat is inherited by his nephew...but not before the election in November.
Damn shame about Ted.  Hard life...deserves a better end.
Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?
Answer: Get a CAT scan.
Surprised at the difference in PHB response
as compared to when Tony Snow was diagnosed with cancer.  That prompted a long expression of sympathy - http://www.pamshouseblend.com/...
May he and his family know that they are in the best of our thoughts and prayers as they deal with the uncertainties they face in the coming months and possibly years.
Unlike Snow, Kennedy has a career of trying to help people, not facilitate policies that have caused untold suffering and death.  I would expect at least the same level of concern for Kennedy and his family.
