Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Bolthouse Fruit Drinks donates cash to bolt 'fruits' out of House

by: Daimeon

Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 20:00:00 PM EDT

Blender Storm alerted us in the comments to this story; William Bolthouse, the carrot farmer best known for Bolthouse Farms, the makers of various dressings, fruit and vegetable drinks, and other carrot products has donated $100,000 to fight for the anti-gay marriage amendment in California.

Seems like a rather bad move since many gays and lesbians consume their products, myself included.  However, it's clear that they have a quite a history of being controversial.  And even though Mr. Bolthouse is not the current "owner" the family still holds a 43% stake in the company.

Hit Bolthouse where it hurts
I guess we were writing at the same time!

I propose that we ask stores that carry Bolthouse products and that have their own non-discrimination policies to stop carrying the products.  How we might go about doing that is laid out here

Went there. Did that.... WALGREENS.

In my area Walgreens sells them and they have a 100 CEI index with 45 Fortune 500 ranking and brag about employment diversity.  In order to lodge an online complaints however they require too much info sorry.

Maybe someone who is really 'out' complaining will send to Walgreens for me, thanks. I may go into store 'anonymously' but that may not be possible in my small town. If I get to PRIDE Celebration SAT, I may just tell the folks there.

Wallmart (Surprise, surprise) is their biggest distributor...
Using their store locater, it would seem that the vast majority of all retail establishments which carry their products are Wallmart stores.

Convince Wallmart to drop their products (I've all written snail mail) and the company will go bankrupt.

[ Parent ]
Interesting will look. NOPE

No Walmart's in my area listed, but WALGREENS and COSTCO are.

Just figured it out. I can contact a PFLAG group here so will let them know.

other such companies
We always hear about gay supportive companies.  I wonder if there is a list somewhere that details companies that target money toward such hateful bigoted causes?  Or perhaps I don't want to know...I know, for example, that Chik-Fil-A is owned by a very religious family, but I'm terrified of giving up my delicious waffle fries!

Melaleuca
They gave a lot of money in Idaho towards our hyper-restrictive anti-gay re-amendment. They were even taking out full page ads on a weekly basis to peddle the standard right-wing lies about LGBT people.

They also used a local case of a Boy Scout leader molesting children to go on a public smear campaign against gay men.

[ Parent ]
C'mon,
you can do it, Christopher!  Give up those waffle fries!!!

I was addicted to Oberweis Ice Cream (a local dairy in IL run by Jim Oberweis, perennial Repuglican candidate and acclaimed homobigot) until he held a press conference announcing his financial gift to The Peter's former employer, Illinois Family Institute. That's where I draw the mint chocolate chip line, dammit.

[ Parent ]
Curse these fundamentalist bigtos and their delicious food!
Oh my god. Oberweis makes the BEST chocolate milk, ever, and it comes in those awesome glass bottles. And Chik-Fil-A... sob, sniffle. I loved it so. Please tell me Mrs. Fields is a progressive. Please. I got nuthin' left here.

Mrs. Fields
Actually, Debbie Fields is a mormon.  Not that that means she HAS to be a bigot, but it does increase the odds...

Well, That Saves Me Some Money
Their Strawberry-Banana Smoothie was never that good anyway...and it was ridiculously overpriced.

It might also save your life...
In September 2006, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency ordered a voluntarily recall on the Bolthouse Farms "100 per cent Carrot Juice" and other Bolthouse Farms products due to several cases of botulism resulting from consumption of the products. On September 29, 2006 the United States Food and Drug Administration recommended that Georgia residents not purchase Bolthouse Farms carrot juice and, the same day, warned consumers not to purchase Bolthouse Farms products dated November 11, 2006 or earlier.[8]

The warning and recalls were due to reported cases of consumption of the beverages resulting in six cases of botulism in the United States and Canada. Two cases in Toronto, Canada resulted in paralysis; three cases recorded in Georgia, United States resulted in respiratory failure, with the patients requiring ventilators; one case recorded in Florida resulted in hospitalization. The patient in Florida has remained unresponsive since mid-September of 2006.[9]

In response, Bolthouse Farms claimed that the illness was the fault of the consumers who had failed to properly refrigerate the products[8]. The US Food and Drug Administration cited that this may not be the case and an investigation continues.[10] Bolthouse Farms has subsequently released an FAQ regarding the event.[11]

Bolthouse has been OFF my buying radar for years
due to past history of the Bolthouse clan.

Thx for the link to inform others Pam.

I might have to drop a line to Costco regarding their carrying several Bolthouse products though...

hmmm...does Target carry Bolthouse products too?

no more Bolthouse for me...
i already emailed them and told them that they lost my business; i also posted in my my livejournal and sent an email to like-minded friends...

Try a better alternative.
You should stick to either Naked Juice, Evolution, or Odwalla.  I don't think there is bigotry behind that.

Never heard of them
before today. Not that I'm that big of a juice drinker, but when I get a jones for really good OJ, I go with Odwalla. In my younger days I worked in an OJ plant in Florida and Odwalla is the closest I've found to the 100% fresh squeezed valencia orange juice I used to draw right out of the gigantic tank in gallon jugs to take home.

BTW, back then pure 100% not from concentrate valencia juice cost about $8/lb. There's no way that you could buy a half gallon of it for $4.00 - $6.00 so don't believe it when juice is advertised as 100% valencia. It's at best 30% and the rest is what we called "trash oranges."

Never try to train a pig. It's a waste of time and it annoys the pig.

I never buy their products either.
I'm bkmn - I avoid buying any of their products.  I had read about their right-wing foundation a couple years ago.

Here in the NE, the Wegman's chain is growing and they prominently carry Bolthouse.  I'll be asking them to stop carrying it, too.

I missed
the Orange juice boycott of Bryant. At least I can help with this one.

Bolthouse
Boycott Bolthouse.  Given the current economic situation, it is impossible for many folks to boycott Costco, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, or Target.  Boycotting Bolthouse and writing to those who carry their products would help.

Kern County, home to Bolthouse, will not perform marriages.
Well just to be safe, they County Clerk will stop performing all weddings starting June 13th.  Turns out Tulare Cty just north of Bakersfield in Kern County won't be doing weddings ceremonies either, but then they claim they never have.
County Clerk will no longer perform marriage ceremonies

The Kern County Clerk's Office will stop performing marriage ceremonies, under a decision announced by County Clerk Ann K. Barnett.

Barnett said expenses and increased security prompted the change of policy. She made the announcement in a news release saying she would follow the State Supreme Court guidelines and issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

That decision goes into effect June 17; the no-more-weddings decision goes into effect June 13, meaning no gay weddings will be performed by the clerk's office.

Kern County's Clerk will no longer officiate at weddings as of June 13.

Barnett has not returned more than a dozen phone calls in the two weeks since the Supreme Court issued its decision effectively legalizing homosexual marriage in California.

Here is the text of Wednesday's news release:

The County Clerk's Office will issue the new marriage licenses as of June 17 in accordance with California law.

The County Clerk's office will not solemnize weddings after June 13, 2008.

We will not have the staff or space to deal with an increase in both licenses and ceremonies. Because of long-term administrative plans, budgetary reasons, and the need to increase security for elections, the Clerk's office will cease solemnizing weddings, which is discretionary on the part of the County Clerk.

As done in other counties, information necessary to solemnize marriages will be made available to those acquiring licenses.

County Clerk asked for legal assistance from ADF
before making announcement about not performing weddings in Bakersfield/Kern County.

btw, Kern County was the seat of State Rep Knight as in author of Prop 22.
Red red California.
