No, I'm not joking.  Germany kicked Earnest Angley out of their fine country after charging him with the same crime for performing faith "healings".  Progressive countries recognize these actions for what they are - crimes against the gullible.

the US is a progressive country?  In this benighted society, you can get away with anything--anything--as long as you claim you're doing it for Jesus.  And the media almost always goes along with it (unless you happen to be Obama's pastor, that is).  I'm guessing the hard-core Catholics and fundies will love Jindal for this.  That may even be why he's being given serious consideration for a spot on the ticket.

Exorcist

Hmmm.... 1994.... seems to me that was 14 years ago????? In 1994 I was married, living in San Diego and proudly fighting against the San Diego Mennonite church becoming an open and inclusive congregation.   Today... 14 years later... I am an openly out gay man with three children and I no longer believe that God has condemned me to hell. In 1994 I would have believed in exorcisms.... today... nope.   A lot of change is possible in that time.... the question is does he still believe this stuff?  

We can do better than this... especially since a lot of our community probably was doing bizarre things at one point or another in their lives.  (or maybe still doing bizarre things? : )

But even if he still believes in exorcism, I am not sure it will hurt him.  Heck, a running mate with an experience with exorcism might solidify evangelical support for McCain.

But I think Jindal, who just turned 37 (HB Bobby!), is too young for McCain.  It would only make John look so much older, and McCain doesn't need that.

Jindal still belongs to the same conservative branch of Roman

Catholic Church. This suggests that he hasn't changed. Believe me, some of these more-Catholic-than-the-Pope types are very very superstitious. We had one at work who shook holy water at her colleagues who didn't back her up (she was under investigation for poor quality work affecting patient care and later was fired). These are NOT normal Catholics.

Perfect choice for McCain

You're all missing the obvious--he can help cast out the Spirit of Contention whenever it takes root in his running mate.  Oh, and the Spirit of Sarcasm, and the Spirit of Rage, and the Spirit of Fuck You-ism, and the Spirit of Condescension, and other assorted demons plaguing McCain. Some people have live-in massage therapists, others exorcists.

Yes, such skills might come in handy...

No kidding though, it may read as weird, but there's a big chunk of Catholics and non-denominational evangelicals that would be pleased as punch about this kind of religious background.  

The question for McCain seems to be becoming, who is he willing to lop off from his support base - the religious right or the more traditional conservatives who would find this piece of information frightening?

You may not realize that what Jindal did is strictly forbidden to Catholic laity.

The Catholic Church takes the possibility of demonic possession very seriously, albeit very rare, and because of centuries-long experience that dabbling by the inexperienced (whoever [sic] well intentioned they may be)  in this area is rather disastrous, decrees the following in Canon 1172 of the Code of Canon Law (1983):
Can. 1172: §1  No one may lawfully exorcise the possessed without the special and express permission of the local Ordinary.
§2  This permission is to be granted by the local Ordinary only to a priest who is endowed with piety, knowledge, prudence and integrity of life.

The whole state is in an uproar...

   that Jindal ran on a platform of Ethics Reform and now the legislature is voting themselves a pay raise, which has everyone furious here and the Governor says the raise "is over the top", too much,, but he says he won't veto it. Radio talk shows were a buzz tonight. He's up agains the wall down here with these old croonies and crooks.

   A three term Governor is in prison, with, I think, there's so many to remember, two commissioners of insurance. A state Senator is under a 14 count indictment along with this brother and others of his family ( stealing from phoney charity organizations they set up and took the money, alledgedly) another state Senator, Clea Fields was photograhped taking a bribe and stuffing money in a bag years ago. The brother of the former Mayor of New Orleans is under indictment or he just went to prison recently,(somebody did anyway) oh I can't recall them all, it's just an ongoing fiasco of theives here with our government. It never stops. Lets see the DA had to resign recently and in the past and the present Mayor of New Orleans has been found, yesterday it was discovered, to have charged 6,500.00 on restaurant bills and even charged a wedding reception or an anniversity party for somebody on the City's credit card.. 

   You can't keep up with it. It's ridiculous.   

   So now everybody is saying it's "business as usual with the politicians".

It's that Nawlins' VooDoo magic and I think somebody may need to perform an exorcism on Jindal soon.

I'd rather be a lion for one day, than a sheep for my entire life.

Br'er Bear's mad scramble to beat the Republican bushes to find a non melanin challenged representative. I love to see the shoe on the other foot.

Democrats were busy in the Nineties responding to the Repubs claim to family values and faith with "Me Too". Now, Republicans are desperate to Kodachrome their party's negatives since the Republican Black Caucus stopped meeting after it's sole member J.C. Watts retired.

But for Gawd's sake, Bobby Jindal? What does it say, when you are seriously considering a politician from a state with the highest percentage per capita of presently and former elected officials under investigation, under indictment and incarcerated in Federal prison?

But seriously, can you see those two on the campaign trail? Both casually dressed at an outdoor event, McCain would look like a retired pro golfer with his caddy at an Scotsdale golf course.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. Hunter S.
