   a demon on earth. But these idiot haters look forward for these kinds of accusations. It reinforces their sick beliefs of persecution and it reinforces their belief that if they are being persecuted they are doing good and they are serving god. They live by delusions.

Actually, I believe the Phelps clan is more a business than a church

Fred's a disbarred lawyer and his daughter is a practicing attorney. They discovered years ago that if they could offend rightminded people enough, various levels of government might violate their rights somehow. Having a practicing lawyer and another trained in litigation in the family makes it very easy for them to file bogus lawsuits against anyone they believe they can bleed money from.

I think in their demented little world, they hide behind religion and use it to try to offend the greatest number of people possible.

Michael Petrelis has the right idea

Phelps' hateful messages targeting gay people and American soldiers are repulsive and I believe many voters who are on the fence about the fall initiative can't emotionally associate with his rhetoric, and he can push voters to do the right thing at the ballot box for us.

It would be great if at least some of the papers would follow everything that hate machine says, then put those quotes next to everything Dobson and ilk says about same-sex marriage. Let people see just how alike those messages are. Then put up stories like this one that I saw from Box Turtle Bulletin. That just might bring the non-bigots (those that aren't hateful about it, but aren't quite full allies) to the ballot box.

Aside from the fact that there is no invisible bully in the sky and Freddy is an insane Taliban Nazi Christer....

Among others smoted recently have been Boy Scouts who will not let gays or atheists into their little brown shirt army and the state of Iowa.

Iowa is solidly Middle America and has probably passed one of those heterosexist bigot laws and is under water.

Remove the tax exemption from religions and their properties.  They are just another business.  Further treat the ministers just like the fortune tellers ie like the scam artists they are.

Iowa

Iowa has a marriage equality case pending. It also voted for Clinton twice and Gore, although it got back in line and went for Bush in 1996, not Kerry. Still, it probably deserves what it's getting, same as New Orleans, in the eyes of Phelps et al. (Which doesn't explain how Mississippi was also damaged, or how red Florida counties are often hit hard by hurricanes, but they never explain that beyond "God Hates America.")

was thinking back to Clinton's second term instead of Bush's, where even though he might have thrown us under the bus with DADT and DOMA, it was still better than trying to enshrine discrimination into the Constitution with the FMA. If we can keep a 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court, DOMA will probably be thrown out as violating the full faith and credit clause, but we're stuck with a constitutional amendment until its repeal. And DADT will be thrown out by a future commander in chief as ridiculous and hurting military readiness, not promoting morale. It's just a matter of when.

Please do not slam sex workers

First, it is my understanding that over half of trnssexuals have, at some time, worked as sex workers.

Secondly, I know a number of non-trans women who, to work their way through grad school, did work as sex workers as the money ws quick and they could not stop studying the amount of time that it would have taken to make up expenses for living in school.

Some do not approve of sex work, and a huge split developed in Second Wave Feminism over the issue of sex in general back in the day. Still, I dislike sex workers being daemonized.

Now, if you want to slam him for being a self denying irritant, that is fine....

There should be a group of women in black, silently standing with black mantillas, off the side with protest sicns, portraying mothers and wives of slain servicemen, but absolutely NO gay presence at his events...

I KNOW that Fred Phelps is one of the greatest assets the LGBT community has ever had, and I for one am hoping that a) he shows up, b) the local media covers him with excruciating detail, and c) that for as inflammatory as he is, that everyone will give them a wide berth and not do anything to provoke a lawsuit.  The Phelps clan makes their money on lawsuits, so if you see them, steer clear.

I agree-Fred's schtick is more a business than a religion. I also believe that he thinks he is God. He wasn't much of a father and appears to have hate as his primary motivating factor. If ever someone was motivated by hatred and wrath, it's Fred Phelps.

Penny pinching hate mongers, they probably are barely able to fill up their van's gas tanks. Before the glare of the media is on the Phelp's inbred klan, might be the better confrontation point. The biker vets might check out these accomadations.
