I do suspect that she, and people like her, really do think that muslim=arab.  Wouldn't she be surprised if she ever visits Southeast Asia?  There's no way that even her limited mind can think that those people are arabs.  Feh, what am I saying.  Her mind can rationalize anything that reinforces her prejudices.

I am not

a fan of McCain but if that is what he had to do so be it. Life as a POW comes down to daily survival for yourself and your fellow detainees. You do what you have to do to survive. There is no dishonor in that. Who among us knows what they would do under those conditions and who can say they have the right to judge?

but in truth, mccain has an adopted daughter from bangladesh.  i think it is only fair that he be held up to the same standards as obama:

mccain adopted 1 brown baby, but killed uncounted others and their families.  further, we may never know if all his well-documented and rampant adultering resulted in any abortions by his sex partners, but it seems plausible.

obama is father to 2 brown babies and has never killed anyone.

As I've mentioned

I am no fan of McCain's but I have to say that considering everything his service doesn't deserve to be swiftboated.

When he was shot down both of his legs and one arm were fractured while trying to help another pilot escape. When he regained consciousness he was attacked and his shoulder crushed.

Only after discovering that his father was an admiral did he receive marginal medical care. When put in a cell with other Americans they did not expect him to live a week. He had lost fifty pounds, was in a chest cast and his hair had turned white.

McCain turned downed an offer of reparation on the grounds that every prisoner captured before him must be released as well. He was sent to the "Hanoi Hilton" were he was kept in solitary confinement for two years. After repeated beatings and rope bindings while experiencing dysentary he signed a propaganda confession.

McCain always felt his statement was dishonorable. He later wrote, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine." Despite continued beatings two to three times a week he refused to sign any additional statements.

The "killing babies" meme

As long as groups like Concerned Women of America can successfully blur the distinction between a developing fetus and a full term baby Obama will continue to fight the "killing babies" charge.  

Science and fact do not phase people who have bought into this meme.  Fetus equals baby, abortion equals murder, therefore Obama supports baby killers.

I often wonder how they fit stillbirths and miscarriages into this worldview.  I suppose they call it "God's will" and studiously avoid the fact that under their logic that makes God a baby killer.

Well I heard the Republicans want to take away

  Ms. Atwoods right to vote.  And mine and everyother woman.
I believe I heard this on Rush Limbaugh's radio show when Welter Williams was filling in for Rush.

 But I also heard the Republicans want to make slavery legal again by making the bible the law of the land.  We all know the bible doesn't allow shellfish and mixed fiber clothing so this looks bad for business that sell shellfish and clothing.  I heard this from Mike Huckabee.

 And I know there is more in the bible that would take the USA back to the dark ages.

 All makes for a great arguement that religion should have no place in politics and making laws.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

is all too typical of the target audience and membership base of CWA and similar Christianist wingnut organizations.  These people have no clue as to the real world and certainly are not well traveled, hence their ignorance about Islam and what many of its adherents look like.  They do not watch the news, often don't read the paper and therefore have no ability to grasp that Obama attended ROMAN CATHOLIC school in Indonesia.  They are like mindless sheep that follow crooked shepherds who fleece them for donations by playing upon their ignorance and fear.

Actually, it was a public school...

in Jakarta in Indonesia, and most of the students and staff were Muslim. However, it was essentially a secular, public elementary school, which included Muslim, Buddhist, Christian and Confucian students. A link to a CNN investigation of the school:

My dad's a diplomat. I grew up in a Muslim country (Turkey), from the time I was 5 until I was 11. That experience didn't make me Muslim, but it did make me highly resistant to the notion which some fundamentalist Christians tried to press upon me in my teens; that the friends I'd made as a kid were doomed to burn eternally because they followed the religion they were born into.

Obama joined a UCC church, an extremely liberal form of Christianity, which leads me to believe that his early experiences with Muslims makes him resist the impulse to demonize them, to make them a threatening, enigmatic "other."

At least, I hope so.

Morons

My family are those morons you speak of. You know, the simple folk- farmers and ranchers. Both the maternal and fraternal sides of the family so I guess I am doubly damned.

Interestingly enough, they are staunch democrats and many have some form of secondary education. Also, I have never seen them treat anyone different from themselves whether it be color, religion, etc., with less than respect.

Blanket statements regarding any group of people are unfair and a form of prejudice and sterotyping.

Plus, these hard working morons help feed the world. Unless you are completely self sufficient and grow you own food maybe you could even be thankful for these simpletons the next time to sit down for a meal.

Anyone who gives any credibility to Concerned Women for America is going to be a whack job.  It doesn't matter if they're rural or urban, midwestern, coastal, or southern.  Folks who believe anything from the CWA will believe everything from CWA and will not listen to anyone else.

The only good thing about folks like Joy is that they are so clearly "out there" that they help motivate middle-of-the-road folks to migrate towards our side.

Don't Waste Your Time

It's sad that there are sheeple like this, however, we all know they exist. It's interesting that she has no trouble believing anything a stranger from Concerned Women for America says, yet she is not the least bit interested in meeting the candidate to ask whatever questions she has. I would love to know what an "Arab tendency" is. I think trying to even discuss relevant issues with someone like this is a monumental waste of time; time that could be better spent speaking to independent voters and undecided voters.

I am glad that he regrets it, but expect no kindness from the mother of a serving soldier in the "Hudred Year's War" who is expected to give his life or take his own rather than provide assistance to the enemy, a soldier who will receive, thanks partly to votes cast by McCain, far fewer benefits outside of the service when his hitch is up or should he become disabled.
