Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

George Carlin passed away

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jun 23, 2008 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

What do you say?
Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT/0100 GMT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

Known for his edgy, provocative material developed over 50 years, the bald, bearded Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine called "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television." A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of the routine ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

Here's the original "Seven Words" (that got him in trouble with the FCC). Below is a later routine based on it.

As controversial as that routine might have been, I think his more recent stand-up on religion  is probably just as inflammatory in some quarters.

That is sad.
I have loved every routine I ever saw of him and thought his social commentary was pretty much on the mark.

It's been years
since I watched a George Carlin clip. Thanks for posting those, Pam.

I liked him. Growing up working class Irish Catholic (which I believed was a more strict version of that Roman Catholic stuff I heard about) his stuff rings true.

I am sure there are lots of people out there, particularly in the tight-ass religious zealot club, who find his material outrageous and blasphemous. I cannot fathom it. The best comedy comes from poking fun at the powerful, from skewering the sacred cow, from announcing that the emperor has no clothes.

I suppose if you're the emperor that's not so much fun, but then that's what makes it so great. And if your position of authority is so tenuous that it can be shaken by the harpooning of a stand-up comedian, I'd say something needs some work.

George will be missed. He was a critic of our culture and our own self-importance when we most needed it.

A good laugh
that cheered me up to start off the week.

I Will Remember Him, Always
I grew up listening him on television and even owned some of his vinal albumns.  I even saw him on stage a couple of time.  I always laughed so much my side hurt.  Now, there is a lump in my stomach because he is gone.  I'm sure his next gig will be with Rodney Dangerfield entertaining the angels in heaven.  God did a good job in making George.

The Hippy Dippy Weatherman
was just one of his great routines.

My Favorite
The Seven Words routine, most of which Pam posted as a link, had a lot to it.  He went into words that can be used one way, but not another.  The all time favorite of mine is the word "prick."  He said, "You can prick your finger, but you can't finger your prick."

That's good too
But I preferred his use of Roberto Clemente and Curt Gowdy.

OK: "Roberto Clemente has two balls on him"

Not OK: "I think that hit him the balls."

Classic.

GAWD!
I had forgotten that was his! Thanks, Louise, for the reminder!

A classic!
Always loved that "Fucking MEOW!" line. Told it to my partner recently when our cat fell behind the computer desk, got tangled in the cables and had to be set free. Only a cat could come through that with her dignity in tact.

Teaching my daughter to drive, I told her how he said anyone driving slower than you is an a**hole, and anyone driving slower than you is a maniac! I think of that one a lot. It was hilarious and insightful. Reminds me to be a bit more humble on the road too, which has saved lives! (I'm a pretty impatient driver!)

George was a master of comedy. He will be missed.

Who else could leave us with such profound wisdom as:

"Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things."

What do you say?
Aw fuck.

He was one of the best comedians ever.
George Carlin will be definitely be missed, especially the younger generations of comedians who see him as an inspiration.

It would be cool if his tombstone would say the "Seven Words".

I am in mourning today.
Carlin was by far my favorite comedian of all time.  I've been disappointed with him in the last few years, as his rants have been much more angry than funny, but his classics still stand.

Football Versus Baseball
Found this classic one just now (text) and wanted to share- I can hear his voice change and just love this one!

Many of the generation of comics who came after Carlin, will be mourning him
Carlin broke barriers of censorship, and biting social and political commentary. He will be missed.
