Too many Americans like their Big Macs! And then...oh my, they would have to explain to their children why they can't have a happy meal! Talk? To their kids?? About gays? I thought their entire point was to keep the kids in the dunno? Now you have to explain your bigotry! Hate don't hold water against a happy meal to a kid!

After all keeping it Xtian related. This one really got hot at G-A-Y...usually only 3-5 comments per...this one got  24!.  Just for a late week share ... quite a few about veggie burger.
But these BEST.

I'm Lovin' it! LOL?AFA has got to be the biggest laugh around these parts. First Ford and now Mac's.?Conservatives sure know how to liven up the holidays with their silliness.

I lost 63 pounds, and counting because I am staying away from fast food but after reading this I think it is time to run down to the nearest one and pig out before going to work.

So AFA gets their panties in a twist over a $20,000 donation to NGLCC? That's chump change to McD's. I don't eat at McD's but I'd gladly go buy something off the dollar menu and give it to a homeless person just to show my support!

I would love to see the faces of the kids when soccer mommy tells them they can't eat McDonald's ever again because of the gays. haha Maybe this will be a catalyst for parents to find healthy alternatives for their kids.

Good, Maybe Jesus will also get these idiots to a gym...Oh no, homos there too!

Is it just me, or is the AFA's greater agenda (and its articles of faith) somehow rooted in warped delusions of "traditional White Christian Honour and Privilege" as epitomised apartheid South Africa?

I've been boycotting McD's and all fast food chains as part of losing 60 more lbs.

So am I no longer consider LGBT supportive if I continue healthy eating and exercise???

Tell ya what, AFA. How about I boycott- oh, I dunno... fundie churches? GOP conventions? Is that okay instead?

Let's make a deal

Since no gays will accept a used toaster, we should compromise. You could go door to door explaining that Jesus loved Ronald McDonald....like the Jehovah's McWitnesses. Keep in mind that a fancy toy will compel children to choose our agenda over their faith, and will possibly convince the adults, if it is pretty and shiny enough, and the words 'Jesus approved', is stamped on each toy. This is an essential part of moving our agenda forward.  Toys vs Faith..which will be airing on 60 minutes next fall.

1. Ronald McDonald morphs into Jesus holding a burger.

2. The Hamburgler into Charlton Heston's Moses, but holding 2 extra-large fries instead of the tablets.

3. Same Moses, but parting not the Red Sea, but green Shamrock Shakes.

4. The Last Supper Image, but they all have "Joyful Meals" and are in a McD's with a few tables slung together. Judas looks pissed because his toy is broken and spilled his soda.

On the right track? Puh-leeze can I keep the toaster now?

Not a fan, sorry. Actually I still like Egg McMuffins ... and FISHmich. ...but we only really go out of the way for IN and OUT!  (Even like the name) .....

Then since it is the FOURTH, I know McD's doesn't have them but JH last shot of the day is about a play called FIFTH of July... This is the party line though

Speaking of BEST FOOD .... got it in Maine!

Best meal we ever had was on a round the Eastern US trip. New Orleans, to Michigan to Maine, etc. Boothbay Harbor I'm pretty sure it was. We had camped out over night..campers us..drive 500 miles pitch camp. Put away in AM..didn't think anything of it... YOUNGer too.  Anyway pitched camp in evening with low lying fog. AM woke up and we had the most gorgeous view of the bay right in front of us!  Into town to a neat coffeeshop I can still picture, where they were talking...when we could decipher the dialect, about the big town feed that day.

They had these huge tanks they were going to boil lobster and corn in. with coleslaw and rolls or cornbread plus drink all for $5...can you tell I'm getting hungry? Yes we surely stayed!  I bought Xmas tree ornaments that I still have!  Loved Booth Bay.

Make it AFTER Labor Day- leaves are turning, rugrats are back in school, most stuff is marked down as tourist season is ending, and traffic is down. Fall in NE is fabulous!

Generally I don't do fast food, but...

I don't eat a lot of fast food (not counting Subway in there), but last night after reading about this, I decided to, for the first time in over four years, go get a Big Mac.

And you know what, it was tasty!  Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, all on a F--- YOU AFA!

AFA has balls

AFA says on their website: "It is about McDonald's, as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars."

On what basis should McDonald's be neutral while AFA is perpetually on a carpet bombing mission against gays?

Lets suppose that McDonald's were firing all their known gay employees and actively supporting anti-gay organizations with large donations. What would AFA have to say about McDonald's lack of neutrality then?

Internally Incongruent

These statements:

What the boycott of McDonald's IS NOT about

   * This boycott is not about hiring homosexuals.
   * It is not about homosexuals eating at McDonald's.
   * It is not about how homosexual employees are treated.

and

It is about McDonald's, as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars.

Are complete at odds to one another. Because how does McDonald's prove its support for the "homosexual agenda"? Why, by refusing to discriminate against gays and lesbians in hiring, in serving customers and in treating employees equally. To people like the AFA, merely treating gays and lesbians as you would anyone else is tantamount to support for that damn "agenda."

And I love how the AFA conveniently decides to launch this "boycott" right at the time of an economic downturn. They are already claiming credit for Ford's woes (they seem to have missed the American car industry's reliance on gas-guzzling, and poorly-selling, SUVs) and I am sure they will claim victory if McDonald's sales decline, even though eating out at all restaurants is sure to decline as families find ways to pay for the price of gas and food.

On the other hand, the AFA is doing their members a favor, and hurting the gay community with this boycott. After all, the fundies who boycott are sure to be healthier not eating crap fast food (if they all switch to the "Christian" Chik-fil-a, a store I personally bypass, this may not be the case). Healthier means longer lives, meaning fundies with us for far longer.

Hmm, maybe we should tell McDonald's to capitulate so we can drive them all into an early grave through heart disease? Nah, that would be mean.

Weakest? I would say Most Laughable.

  The extra bucks going to fill up the family car took the Outback, Red Lobster, and the finer resturants of the going out to eat schedule.

 Guess where the going out to eat because you are to damn tired to cook?  McDonalds.  And now the lines might be shorter and the lines will move faster because you wont have some dumb ass fundie in front of you trying to make up his mind, Big Mac or the Chicken Sandwich.

Kids and Mickey D's

My kids think the idea of boycotting parents trying to tell their kids that they can't eat at the place that sponsors Ronald MacDonald Houses because it is "un-Christian" struck them as being so blatantly hypocritical that it is really, really funny.  The way they figure, if they thought of the Ronald MacDonald House argument, so will every fundie kid.

As my daughter put it, "I would LOVE to hear that argument!"

The math on this when all is said and done should be interesting

When the AFA did their little boycott against the evil Ford Motor Company, subsequently claiming victory, I took a few minutes and did the math to see how ridiculous their claim really was.

Based on approximately 200 million licensed drivers in the United States, and using a 16 million U.S. auto industry sales number for 2007 (the final figures hadn't come in at that point), and the 775,000ish people that had signed the boycott...

Figuring that all 775,000 wouldn't be buying a car at the same time, I calculated how many of that number would have bought a car in 2007, then generously gave that all would have bought Ford products if not for the boycott.

Of course, there was more to it than I have above, but the final result of the AFA boycott on Ford that was so "successful?"

1.8 percent of 2007 sales, based on a generous better case scenario.
