The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Elaine Donnelly honored on The Daily Show

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 11:30:00 AM EDT

[Update: I had to correct my serious typo substituting the New Republic for the National Review. It's corrected in the reference below.]

The Jon Stewart gives Elaine Donnelly The Daily Show treatment by simply replaying some of her deranged testimony last week at the House hearings on DADT and providing commentary...

The video, and a defense of her testimony by Elaine's flunkie published at The National Review  are below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: Elaine Donnelly honored on The Daily Show

Meanwhile, if you can believe this, here comes a defense of the Center for Military Readiness doyenne by Tommy Sears of The Tank at NRO.
***

This is not satire; this is a wingnut's POV.

On Wednesday, July 23, Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, and retired Army Sgt. Maj. Brian Jones testified before the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel on the issue of gays in the military. They were opposed by three veterans who told personal stories that, they claimed, made the case for repealing the 1993 law, frequently mislabeled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Chairwoman Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.) promised in her opening statement that the forum would be an open and civil discussion, but it quickly deteriorated into a show hearing that would have made Stalin proud.

...The object of the hearing was to demonize as morally repugnant (bigoted, homophobic, or worse) anyone who dared disagree with the Democrats' and homosexual activists' point of view.  It was a replay of the treatment received by the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Gen. Peter Pace.  Sadly, Republicans were unprepared to respond in their statements or questions.  The lack of apparent support for our position made it possible for the Democrats to be brutal, and matters were made worse by AWOL Republicans.

Committee members, some of whom Elaine and I had met with over many months to prepare for the hearing, just did not show up.  Among those who did, some didn't even ask questions or at least yield time to respond to the personal attacks.

The Republicans were MIA because they probably knew Donnelly would make an ass out of herself on national TV and they wanted no part of it. Notice that no one has surfaced to identify themselves as the members who signed off on her appearance.

For those of you who watched or read her testimony -- what personal attacks did you all see against Donnelly? Sears really goes off the deep end.

Our deployed servicemen and servicewomen are, by job description, in high-risk situations.  So now we're going to introduce a population (homosexuals) to the force whose risk of being non-deployable due to HIV infection is far greater than that of any other group?  What kind of sense does that make?  Like other Democrat members during the hearing, Snyder allowed Elaine no time to complete a response.  The Democrats just refused to talk about the consequences of repealing the law.

...If the law is repealed, when people are subjected to passive/aggressive behavior that sexualizes the intimate no-privacy atmosphere, especially in close combat units and submarines, their motives will be questioned.  Unlike women complaining of harassment, the presumption will be bigotry, homophobia, or worse (again, the defamation of General Pace last year shows the pattern of serial demagoguery here).  So no one will complain.  They will just leave - or avoid the military in the first place.  As a result, the military will lose thousands of good people.

As opposed to the thousands of trained and ready openly gay and lesbian service members who were discharged from the military while the standards were lowered to admit straight felons, straight gang members and straight under-educated people as recruits.

Stewart for President
Seriously, can we have Jon Stewart as president?  He's a hell of a lot better than the old white guy and Obama...

Also, I think it's worth noting that The Daily Show hits a sizable audience, and Donnelly's idiotic tirades were aired for all to see.  Then again, given her speech, I'm sure there was practically zero writing on Stewart's part for this one.

Sears is on Donnelly's payroll
He was brought onboard last year as her executive director, and is her primary (in fact, perhaps only) point-person here in Washington, D.C.

So I wouldn't even quite say that TNR defended Elaine.  Her hired hand did it on TNR's website.

Stewart and Colbert for the Cabinet!
Jon Stewart is priceless!  That anyone would spin Donnelly as having been attacked or people being rude to her...well, she presents herself as an expert. And if she proves herself unqualified...then it's on HER.

This is a VERY serious matter. Our troops have been stop lossed, over worked and under served and there are not enough to have the luxury of booting ANYONE who is skilled and willing.

Center for Military Readiness...what an oxymoron. Donnelly was the moron who wasn't ready!

Specifically, Stewart for Press Secretary
Can you imagine White House Press Conferences? They would actually make the news!

A sphincter says what?
the defamation of General Pace last year shows the pattern of serial demagoguery here

Unlike the defamation of many gay people who are called predators and terrorists, and who are said to be the major (if not only) cause of HIV infection, or who are are said to have such loose morals that they can't control their sexual urges long enough to get through the work day?

As a very wise man once said, "Shut the hell up!" -Keith Olbermann

That is NOT The New Republic
I'm a New Republic subscriber and I was startled to hear of TNR's defense of Donnelly's wingnuttery. I know TNR to a be a fair-minded and intelligent publication with a bullsh!t meter tuned to subatomic precision. No WAY would they get behind Ms Uncontrollable-Lesbian-Rape there.

Well... what a relief to see that the link points to the National Review. --> "tank.nationalreview.com"

Please correct this -- TNR does not deserve to be associated with the partisan nutjobs over at National Review.

Are you baiting me????
Love Jon... this was FAB!

Really great huh!

My stupid OS only plays Comedy Central clips in 10 second sound bites.... Which actually in this case made it hilarious because of where the cuts came.

I was hoping any number of congressional aides added that to their bosses AM watch list.

Straights don't get HIV
My straight brother, now a retired Marine, was diagnosed with HIV 3 years before he retired. Having a wife and 5 kids (according to this idiot) you wouldn't think that possible.....unless you knew he frequented prostitutes.
I find it ironic that his gay brother (me) is HIV negative and has been in a monogomous relationship for 11 years now!!
My brother was in a support group for Marines with HIV (a group of over thirty on his base). He also said that most of the Marines really didn't care one way or the other if somone is gay, as long as they did their job.

BEST reason for having gays in the military
Their fluency in FARCI makes it handy to direct their straight comrades to the nearest STD clinic.

I find it difficult to believe many straight men catch HIV from female prostitutes. I think IV use and anal sex with TOP hustler is much more likely.
Marines aren't ALL bottoms, but enough are.

unless a man has sores already on his penis
I don't believe much female to male transmission occurs.
If it was this easy for a woman to infect men, we'd have MUCH HIGHER straight incidences of AIDS.

that sounds like false reassurance to me
According to the CDC's HIV in America factsheet (http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/us.htm), 16% of adult men newly diagnosed with HIV in the year 2006 in the US acquired the infection from "high risk heterosexual contact".  That's roughly 1 in 6 cases.

In other words, female to male transmission does occur, and is known to have happened more than 4,000 times in the year 2006 alone.

That may not seem like a very large number compared to the US population as a whole, but one imagines it is quite significant to those whose lives were changed as a result.  So it's a little disturbing to hear the possibility downplayed.

[ Parent ]
I didn't say it couldn't happen, but it's much less likely mode of transmission
The cases where it does occur, could have sores on the penis, where transmission to blood is easier.

That's only because most US men are circumcised
The foreskin is a mucous membrane and it's much easier for uncircumcised men to get HIV from women.

two other good reasons why...
Having gay people in the military is a good idea :

bui doi

Is it good foreign policy to leave behind the babies of servicemen? It certainly was a death sentence in Vietnam for those children.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother Thom. Of course, to hear the opposition tell it, you'd think heterosexuality gives one immunity from HIV.

Wasn't TNR also the employer of disgraced fabricator Steven Glass?

Right
which is why we lab workers were so careless about needles, blood and contaminated items... being straight meant you were immune from HIV.

HIV?
Homosexuals are more likely to contract HIV then the convicted felons and drug abusers that are being scooped up by desperate recruiters?

Seriously?

I wonder how many of these wingnuts, like Sears, have actually signed up and/or encouraged their readers to enlist?  Fracken few, I bet.  We have brave men and women who are soldiers, and who gives a flying fig who they prefer to sleep with.  Frankly, when I was in, I couldn't care less who was with me, so long as they were competent.  From reports on soldiers, they are becoming more accepting and more in agreement with removing DADT.

The day that was signed was a shameful day.
