The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Anti-Equality States Jonesin' for Marriage Tourism Cash

by: Lurleen

Thu Jul 31, 2008 at 13:19:43 PM EDT

( - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

Nothing like watching the bouquet of cold hard cash getting tossed to someone else to make voters regret passing their nasty "not in our neighborhood" anti-marriage amendment.

Nevada, wedding capitol of the world, is starting to see the light. (Emphasis added)

A recent study  by academics at [UCLA's School of Law's Williams Institute] estimates [that California] could see nearly $700 million pour in over the next three years as a result of having legalized gay unions...That could mean $63 million in revenue for local governments, through taxes and fees...

"Obviously," said Brad Sears, co-author of the study and the institute's director, "the big windfall comes for the first states to do it."

All that luscious cash! Oh, but none of it or you, NV, by your own rules.
So if you're gay [visiting or living in NV] and you want to get legally married, you go to California. Or Massachusetts. Or Canada.
So what is this costing NV?  UCLA researcher Sears "crunched a few numbers".  His conclusions are below the fold.
Lurleen :: Anti-Equality States Jonesin' for Marriage Tourism Cash
According to his U.S. Census data, there are about 6,300 gay couples in Nevada. Based on what's happened in Massachusetts since it legalized gay marriage, he estimated about half of those couples would get married here if they could.

If each couple spent just one-quarter of what a traditional couple does on a wedding, that could mean $23.3 million spent here that otherwise wouldn't be. That would probably mean a couple of a million dollars in tax revenue too.

And that's just locals. He said there was no way to calculate quickly how many out-of-state gay couples would come to Las Vegas to get married if they could do so legally.

After all, more than 100,000 straight couples already are doing it every year.

In Massachusetts, state legislators made it clear that they repealed the "1913 law" that prevented non-resident s-s couples from marrying there because it was a simple matter of justice and fairness.  But they acknowledged, and local business is panting at the fact, that s-s marriage tourism is expected to be a real economic windfall.

Consider these numbers: An estimated 32,200 same-sex couples from elsewhere would travel to the state to get married over the next three years. That would pump $111 million into the economy and yield another $5 million in marriage license fees and sales and occupancy taxes.

Bottom line, people who persist in preventing marriage equality are anti-business and are against the economic development of their state.  Marriage equality isn't just in the best interest of same-sex couples, it is in the best economic interests of their state.  Voters in California, Florida and Arizona need to think long and hard about how much cash they're willing to lose to Massachusetts and beyond.

I've been seeing couples marry in CA
and then go on their honeymoon to Vegas.

Great way to reward the states that support your equality.

We have some economic leverage here, but we need to be smart if we want it to be effective.

It doesn't take a lot of brains - just don't advertise South Carolina as a gay holiday spot, don't hold your LGBT conventions in Texas, etc.

Spend your dollars in states and countries that deserve them.

Las Vegas is
the second highest gay tourist destination in the U.S., behind New York City but ahead of San Francisco.

It's time for states and cities with marriage equality to go on an advertising blitz to convince GLBT tourists to spend their money where they are valued and respected.

We have casinos! We have s-s marriage! We have
really, really good food! Come to California! Get married! Watch the sunset from the Golden Gate bridge. Come sign the big "Thank You" Card to Mayor Gavin. Vegas doesn't love you like we love you! Hell, a lot of us are you.

Remember what FDR said, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." Have you written/called a congress-critter today? 8.25, 6.21

Nothing says "equality" quite like seeing others make gobs of money
We've seen it in the business world, where large companies are having to provide a gay-friendly workplace and same-sex partner benefits in order to attract and keep good employees.

Now we are starting to see it with regards to marriage, where states are feeling pressured to legalize same-sex marriage in order to shore up faltering revenue streams.

Some states may legalize same-sex marriage solely for economic reasons. You know what? I'm perfectly happy with that.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.

CA....15 BILLION IN DEBT
Laying off State workers today...think you'd like some extra LGBT tourism dollars...ya think?

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

No, they don't want gay money
Randy and his friends want a pure, impoverished state full of religiously fanatical peasants...and no immigrants...

you might be on to something....
there is a correlation between poverty and religious adherence.  keep 'em poor, keep 'em uneducated, and reap the benefits.

The gays stole my lunch money

[ Parent ]
are you kidding?
...poverty and religiosity skip hand in hand around the world, leaving a trail of unwanted children, beaten, murdered and oppressed women and uptight, vulgar men behind them.

NTTATWWT
It's been my experience that greed is usually a good motivator for tolerance....

the tolerance issue is OVER, nothing will now change residents of every state marrying
All that remains is greed, so let the bidding wars begin for our disposable incomes, NYC, Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, South Beach....we're waiting

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

The 1st state that could repeal it's marriage amendment
would be Nevada. It's a place with a really unique vibe. I love the state north and south. They're all about making a buck and especially if it sticks it to California. But they also have this live and let alone attitude. I remember the Nevada Economic Development billboards all over Southern California trying to steal businesses. I thought, damn that's ballsy. So, I could see them repealing the ban and putting billboards up and down the 10 frwy with a smiling gay couple leaving the alter manned by a sequined Elvis and boldy pronoucing,

It happened in LA, they stayed in Vegas

Want a wedding fit for a king? Vegas Baby

have you ever considered sending a copy of the final tally you spend outside of NV to your tourist board, legislators and governor?  the need to know in concrete terms what they're missing out on.

As my grandfather always said,
"Money talks, and bullshit walks."

Heh.  I wonder if the anti-gay states have sat down and added up how much money they've lost due to businesses relocating thanks to their homophobic statutes?  If your benefits plan includes provisions for same-sex couples, and the state you're in prohibits them, what are you going to do?  Strip your employees of their benefits, and watch them take their talents to another company?  Or go somewhere else where the legislators and voting public are civilized?

I hate the fact that it boils down to money, but my Inner Cynic just shrugs and says, "Be thankful it's just money."

Well, I say that work is hell--o, boss!

Add It Up?
Along with poverty and religiosity, ignorance completes the trinity. Most citizens in the anti-gay red states can't even count change back.

Change
Does that mean they won't understand "Change You Can Believe In"?

who says "believing in" had anything to do with understanding? ;)

Then they won the culture war around 1995
Because the remaining 75% of the country's voters mean shit to any candidate. I have voted in every election, except for two locals both due to flu, and (excuse me for not editing this)I am fucking fed up making my choice as the lesser of two assholes. I refuse to live my life like a mushroom, happy being fed full of shit and kept in dark.

All these wingnuts that are sitting around waiting for the rapture are intentionally destroying this country to speed up the process. The tax system, education, personal liberties, the list is endless. I think we should offer these people a deal, we will eliminate your estate tax, if you decide to meet your maker early. We will even give a tax incentive for large groups.

Yep money talks bullshit walks
A friend of mine was a member of a Dallas mega Methodist church until a few years ago. For the fifth Sunday in a row, the pastor got up and spewed hate speech about homa-sech-shuls complete with slide show of Pride parades, etc. The main Sunday service is usually about 1,000 people in attendance. Well she stood up, with her husband, and yelled "Pastor, this is the FIFTH week you've ranted against my gay friends. Are you in the closet or something? Whatever happened to Jesus Christ and the Gospels? We are leaving this church today and taking our $5,000 per year pledge with us. Anyone wanna join us?" And about 100 people stood up and walked out. There was a lot of applause and she never knew whether it was FOR her or AGAINST her. About a month after this incident, the pastor was fired. Apparently the 100 walkers were all high pledgers. Money talks and bullshit walks. Or in this case the money walked cuz the bullshit talked!

Give that woman a Klondike bar!
That's what I'm talking about. Give your friend a big ole sloppy kiss for me. I have said it before and I'll say it again:
The definition of courage, charging into the direct line of fire while yelling over your shoulder, "C'mon, they can't kill us all!" and the definition of guts, following them.

While Massachusets waited
four couples in the group that I belonged to got married..in Canada.

The economy of Niagara-on-the-Lake, a sort of low key Canadian Provincetown and the home of the George Bernard Shaw festival probably made out to the tune of at least 200,000 dollars, given hotels, restaurants, gowns that were purchased there, tux's rented, etc...

The money went into the economy of a town that was famously LGBT friendly and a country that counted us as equal.

I know that we will not pry people out of FLorida or South Carolina, but they honestly ought to think about the hateful State Governments that they are supporting when they spend monies in anti-gay states...
