The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Breaking: Michelle Obama attends LGBT luncheon

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Aug 26, 2008 at 15:36:36 PM EDT

UPDATE (Wed, 6:30 AM): more video added below the fold.

"Radical" Russ, Autumn and I are attending the HRC/Victory Fund LGBT Delegate luncheon today.  This is hosted by Barney Frank and sponsored by HRC and The Victory Fund.

When Russ and I dropped by the venue to pick up our media credentials, it was announced that Michelle Obama would be making an appearance at this event. This very public support and acknowledgment of the LGBT community during the convention is a clear sign that political change is in the wind. One of the other noticeable things about this luncheon is that it's the only one so far that is overbooked -- there are so many elected officials, activists and supporters of the LGBT  community who turned out for this event.

Frank in his opening remarks, noted that no Democrat who voted against the federal marriage amendment was defeated, however several who voted for it and ran for re-election were defeated. (It begs the question -- why, for goodness sake, is it so difficult for some of these spineless elected officials to get their act together to aggressively support the repeal of DADT, hate crimes legislation, and ENDA. The fear expressed, even as support for all of these pieces of legislation has significant public support, is increasingly tiring.)

Tammy Baldwin
and the likely next openly gay elected member of Congress, Jared Polis of Colorado, spoke about the promise and the work that we have ahead to achieve equality, and remarked that this country, because of the historic nature of this primary season, has shown the country is capable of electing the first woman president, given the success of Hillary Clinton.

Video of Michelle Obama is below the fold.

UPDATE: Here's the first video as she's introduced to a roaring, enthusiastic crowd. Sorry for the shaky, unedited video - it was crowded on the media riser.

UPDATE 2 (8/27 6AM): The full video I shot.

THANKS Michelle

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

Hurrah for Michelle!

If you want allies, you have to be an ally.

I always have mixed feelings
about the spouses "sending the message" rather than the candidate actually addressing it head on.  I'm delighted that Michelle is going to be at this luncheon, and I know Barack isn't going to push any more bubba buttons than he feels he must.  Yet my first reaction was "Great, another Elizabeth Edwards-type surrogate.  She's not the one we'll be voting for."

The signs are covert, but they're still signs
This is very positive, especially with what Obama said at the Saddleback Fiasco.

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly
# Shared, is -- Honor #

[ Parent ]
You mean to say "god is in the mix" so I don't believe in ss marriage
is positive?????
I agree with Lurleen, Mrs Obama is not running for any elected office.  She won't be introducing the promised repeal of DOMA or DADT nor sponsoring an inclusive ENDA or hate crimes.

[ Parent ]
Barack is not in Denver yet, right?
So he couldn't be at this event.

Wasn't he in Kansas City last night?

He's making his way across the country campaigning.  He's missing many events at the convention, not just this LGBT one.

I might agree that non-attendance matters in a different circumstance, but not in this particular case.

[ Parent ]
I said nothing about him.
I was talking about the near-empty meaning of candidates using wives as surrogates.  It's nothing more than dangling candy in front of the bassinet unless Daddy Barack brings home the civil rights bacon in his speech later this week.

it's VERY common that the candidate doesn't appear until the final night

who's arguing about that?
am i not making myself clear?  sending in the wife is nice, but ultimately is an empty gesture.

Brava!
This is almost as good as her wonderful speech last night!

Seriously, after oh-so-many-heartbreaking-years of politicians who run farther away from out community the closer it gets to election time, 2008 is wonderful.

We -- as members of the LGBT community and as Americans -- owe our fullest and best efforts to electing Obama and electing more Democratic legislators to support him.

is there yet a link
to video or audio of the lgbt luncheon speeches?

first Michelle Obama video is up
Getting a hard/fast connection is a bit of a challenge, so bear with me. The video of her coming up after the introduction is on the post now. Russ also took additional video of her complete speech.

Good
Now if we can just get Hillary to say...

"You are no friend of mine, of this party, or of this country if you vote for John McCain"

tonight during her speach, I will call it a good day.

It's a stretch, Hillary's a triangulator, but I like
your phrasing. It would make a fine second to last line, just before the obligatory "G-d bless...."

Remember what FDR said, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." Have you written/called a congress-critter today? 8.25, 6.21

[ Parent ]
yay
please do post any and all pictures and videos!

thanks, Pam

Pam,

Thanks for all the work you put into the blog and, especially right in this moment, for posting the video of Michelle O's talk today. Kinda cool to see her call out my own Congresswoman, T Baldwin, and just to hear what she has to say to us.

One of the things I've liked about Barack O from day one was the fact that he talks about LGBT issues to all kinds of audiences, not just to us.  But then again, I appreciate the opportunity to hear what the Obamas have to say directly to us as well.

The Obamas
The problem is, of course, that The Obamas will not be president.  Only one Obama will, and he isn't talking directly to us.  In fact, although he mentions us from time to time in various places (which I agree is a good thing), he is careful not to even be seen with us.  I just can't get star struck with this guy.  He's too creeped out by Teh Gayz.

Won't be photographed with SF Mayor Newsom either.
God must not be in the mix then.

[ Parent ]
do you suppose he might
allow himself to be photographed with lgbt clergy? ;D

So sick
"You mean to say "god is in the mix" so I don't believe in ss marriage is positive????? "

The whole Rick Warren townhall meeting was really disappointing. Rick mentioned that their other issues we should care about but didn't allow discussion on any but he made sure he addressed abortion/marriage. How many kids/babies have died in Darfur(and other places that get zero media coverage, can u name any other than Darfur?) these past 5 yrs?!? I also hate this whole liberals are just as intolerant counter reasoning? Yes I am intolerant of your abusive sick need to regulate and demonize my life and existence while ignoring real world problems and the sick deeds commited on your own side!

separate but equal
I know, I know - we get so happy when folks talk nice about and quite honestly - talk TO the gays.

But really - when are we going to put our foot down and demand that support for only civil unions is NOT OK?

I know he's a tiny vegan and says he's seen a UFO - but Kucinich will always be for us.  Over and over again - I have to see him fail.  G-d, I love that man.  And as much as I want to see a DEM in excecutive office, THIS IS NOT OK!
