The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Fundie reaction to the out-of-wedlock pregnancy of Sarah Palin's teen daughter

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Sep 01, 2008 at 17:58:15 PM EDT

First, the statement from the Palins:
Today, Sarah and Todd Palin issued the following statement regarding today's Reuters story: "We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support. "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."
And here's what some of the professional Christian, womb-controlling, abstinence-only set has to say. Basically, they are forgiving, since the Palins are otherwise upstanding Christians in their eyes. Note that the Palin's specifically said their daughter decided to have the baby -- that it was a choice. It's a choice Sarah Palin and John McCain want to take away from women.

Daddy D:

"In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.

"The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans."

FRC President Tony Perkins:
"Unfortunately, teenage pregnancy has become all too common in today's society regardless of a family's economic or social status. It is problem that we remain committed to reducing through encouraging young people to practice abstinence," Perkins said.

"Fortunately, Bristol is following her mother and father's example of choosing life in the midst of a difficult situation. We are committed to praying for Bristol and her husband-to-be and the entire Palin family as they walk through a very private matter in the eyes of the public," Perkins added.

Gary Bauer:
"Bristol Palin and her family understand that a new life has been created. The commitment to bring that life into the world is a testament to their pro- life philosophy. I commend them for the example they are setting for other women in crisis pregnancies."

Just called the folks
It is what is being said at the kitchen table that matters.

"Sarah Palin is a terrible mother."

"How could she let that happen to her daughter?"

"How can she show her face in public?"

"Loose morals are the result of bad parenting."

And, I notice from your post that the father's name is Levi. That's a Hebrew name. Is he Jewish? God help Palin if that is the case.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

Levi
He's an Alaskan - he was probably named after the jeans.

Mom was too BUSY
to give Daughter a talk about the "Birds & Bees"

What IF Levi backs out on Marrying the Daughter?

Can't wait for Public Opinion Polls to come out about Palin in the next few days. Seems these Dominionists are on the hook, line and sinker with their acceptance of Palin.

The poor kids couldn't back out of getting married if they tried.
It would just turn into a shotgun wedding--and apparently, mama Palin is a good shot. ;)

Seriously, does anyone know how old the boy is? Since Bristol is 17, depending on how old she was when they started having sex, if he tried to back out of marrying her he could end up getting charged with statutory rape--that is one hell of a threat to hold over his head and we already know from Troopergate that Palin fights dirty.

We have all been assuming that the young man is roughly Bristol's age, but I have not actually seen that verified anywhere.

I really feel sorry for these two kids.

Levi Johnston is 18
He and Bristol have been dating for about a year. On his my space page (before it went private) he claims to be a redneck, likes hunting fishing, snowboarding, claims to be in a relationship and doesn't want to have kids. He also knows how to liberally use and spell words that begin with F and end with K. I'm sure the fundie moms are just swooning with joy over this fine young man and future father.

Talk about the birds & bees?!
Palin is on record as being opposed to sex education in public schools.  Which is to say that she opposes programs that might have given Bristol (oh, those names!) the knowledge to avoid getting pregnant.

It's time for Palin and her ilk to realize and admit that keeping kids ignorant doesn't produce anything but ignorant kids.

Of course, the right wing thrives on ignorance, but that's another discussion...

Ahh...
What happened to all that good Christian love and forgiveness and honoring the family's "private issues" when they were roasting Bill at the stake for his "being human" (their words not mine) mistake.

I could care less about her kid being pregnant.  It just reinforces two things for me...

1.  Abstinence only education is a failure and the Repubs are to blame for that.

2.  The Repubs still don't think that we can "handle the truth" because they still mislead or lie about things they think will be uncomfortable for the public to deal with.  Why didn't they just say she was pregnant when they introduced the family.  They made a big deal about her son having Down's, why not her daughter being pregnant.

Hypocrisy at its finest
Ah, those FAKE CHRISTIANS don't know anything about forgiveness or private issues.

I bet EVERY person now protecting Palin and her daughter's slutty behavior was so gun ho on giving Clinton the riot act.  Remember, "it's not the crime, it's the LYING".

Oh please!

That's all that republiCONs do.  They LIE.  They have gotten away with their LIES, but this time, the republiCONS will pay.  Big time.

Staring with electing President Obam in 2008!

Thank you McSame for being such a train wreck!

[ Parent ]
aww they know A LOT about forgiveness and private issues
"real" Christians are forgiven by default and should be given their privacy.  The rest of us are shit outta luck

[ Parent ]
Well, I'm no expert, but isn't this girl considered legally a minor?
And isn't it the same dominionists like Sarah Palin who don't believe a minor can make such decisions? What decision did Bristol really have to make anyway? Palin doesn't strike me as the kind of "parent" who would relinquish power over a child, especially when that child broke her mom's "abstinence-only" policy and is still considered a dependent. Aren't these same dominionists dead-set against allowing minors to make any decisions about what to do with a pregnancy. . .well, and adults too?

Something smells a bit rotten here. . .

I said the same thing
only not as politely as you did, over on another blog.

Age of Consent in Alaska is 16
But she's still a "sinner"!

Thanks, Lefty
That clarifies it a bit for me.

Do the Fundies Realize Teen Pregnancy Rates Were Dropping?
Tony Perkins statement sounds like he's unaware of facts.

Teen pregnancy rates were dropping into the early 2000's.

Then, they're starting to edge up again, coincidental to the installation of abstinence only education. Perhaps it's more causal than coincidental, though.

Families and politics
"Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics." - Barack Obama

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." - John McCain

...

Grandpa Hothead just hired Tucker Eskew, one of the smear consultants Bush used against him in South Carolina in 2000.  Eskew's project in that primary was to rumour-monger about John and Cindy's adopted Bangladeshi daughter--to spread the lie that she was really an illegitimate child that John had fathered with an African American woman.

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

Of course Christians aren't perfect.
They are people after all.  This variety of them though, is bossy, judgmental, opinionated, blustery, and fairly dumb.  They are the idiots behind the idiotic talking points in a lot of cases.
For an example, how 'bout The Peter.  He uses the same argument about not being perfect.  It's sounding like one of those script things that these people love to do.  Original thoughts may get you kicked out of the gang.

My America includes LGBT families.

Babydaddy says he doesn't want kids. ruh roh.
On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, "I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.

"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."

"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.

He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

Hey dude, guess what?

If Sarah Palin were a liberal African American . . .
. . .well, you can write for yourself the cluck-clucking, the exasperated sighs,  the lamentations about the pathology of the Black family culture, disintegration of traditional moral values, a shocking affront to our  Judeo-Christian heritage, yada yada yada--

all from the same Republican Christianists now falling all over themselves trying to get the rest of the country to ignore this suddenly inconvenient truth.

By the way, has anyone seen Senator Vitter during coverage of Hurricane Gustav? Just asking.

Bristol's Future Hubby...
HuffPo has a blog up with a pic of Bristol's future husband. His MySpace pages show an immature redneck who loves to party, raise hell, and drink. He claims he's in a "relationship", but DOESN'T WANT CHILDREN!

Wonder how this squares with the Palin statement that Bristol and future hubby are going to get married and keep the child?

Republican hypocrisy knows NO BOUNDARIES...imagine the screams of outrage coming from the fundie right if Obama had a daughter who was 16 or 17 and was pregnant out of wedlock!!!!

Less of me
Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.

Wish I knew what that was like...

The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human

Mine still isn't, apparently.

Unfortunately, teenage pregnancy has become all too common in today's society regardless of a family's economic or social status.

Wasn't the FRC saying it was the gayz and absent fathers that was causing it?

It is problem that we remain committed to reducing through encouraging young people to practice abstinence,

My boss' favorite quote is "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

And finally back to Palin:

We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.

And I ask the Republican party to respect my family. When they start treating my family with respect then I will respect their privacy.

watashi no yomeiri wa doko desu ka

well, according to McCain
Mine still isn't, apparently.

It's not a matter that your family isn't human, it's that what you think is a family just plain isn't one

[ Parent ]
EXCUSE ME?
This woman, a career politician, can honestly say that she's glad that her daughter was having sex at the age of sixteen, without a condom, with a hockey player at school. As a mother and a principled conservative, she would seem to have failed most spectacularly in transmitting her values to the people closest to her and most completely under her control. Would the right wing be as enraptured with the daughter's teen sex if she had Chamydia? Do they endorse the failure of Palin's sex-ed views? What about the boy? Is he being FORCED to marry a girl who he cares little for and who may not care for him much? Are we watching the beginning of a miserable political shotgun marriage?

I have absolutely no problem with any moral aspect of this situation; sin is for the fundies. But this girl's life has been seriously compromised at a very early age. I don't envy her, or her miserable boyfriend. And I don't see the situations as reflecting well on Palin. Frankly, it's a trailer park story of sexual ignorance and failure.

I do think that the focus should be on Sarah and not her children
after all, they didn't do anything to deserve being Exhibit A.

I don't think much of her mothering skills if she didn't hear from her child sooner rather than later - though many kids hide their pregnancy from shame. That daughter has got to feel like her life in Alaska (and US) is ruined (melodramatic teenspeak)by mama's outing her (inevitable) and presenting her as marrying the dad, making it hard to back out. And it occurred to me who's going to be doing the babysitting for Mom's youngest, the 4 mo old with Downs' syndrome. (though it isn't a bad thing to have a same-age nephew).

My wet dream
It would be too fitting if Levi was actually gay, making a last ditch effort to convince himself that he's not. ( Kinda like me 30+ years ago.)  That would make for a great marriage.
