The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."
He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior."
(CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)
Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego)."Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008
Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:
A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist." (Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)
"A nutty lesbian blogger." (MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)
Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

| A CWA piece up today alerted me to the fact that there was a string of comments in a subthread of a particular post from a while back, that not only published private information about Peter LaBarbera, but contained threats. Whether they were real or not is irrelevant; it's reprehensible -- and it's not what this community is about.
Given the amount of traffic and limited time I have, I don't get to comment on or read every exchange in every post; there are community standards that were clearly violated by the exchanges, and I have rightfully deleted the comments.
I have never advocated threatening physical harm toward anyone, as I have been on the receiving end of the same treatment -- and it doesn't feel good, let me tell you.
We may be on the opposite sides of the fence on most matters from the people we discuss and comment about here on the Blend, but on this we can agree -- our families (whether LaBarbera regards mine as such) have a right to be safe.

| [UPDATE: 2/8, for those without full background on the matter.]
For the record --
I contacted Peter LaBarbera directly when the CWA release came to my attention on 2/7 (unfortunately, I wasn't given the courtesy of being contacted to address the matter before the release went out). He later updated his blog to say that the comments were removed -- the commenter violated my blog's community policy regarding threats and harassment:
*** Spaulding Takes Down Violent 'Sniper' Comments against LaBarbera from her Blog
February 7th, 2007
[Editor's note: in our e-mail version of this story, I mistakenly reported that there were a "series of [pro-violence] posts" on Pam Spaulding's, when I meant to say "comments." I confess that I am still learning all the blogging lingo. There was only one controversial POST in question (which we saw) advocating violence; that post contained several violence-endorsing COMMENTS (by Barry Wick) in the overall thread. I apologize for the error-PL]
Lesbian activist Pam Spaulding, creator of the "Pam's House Blend" blog, sent me the following e-mail note at 11:36 CST stating that she did not know that the violence-justifying posts against me were on her blog. She has removed those posts, for which we are grateful. At Americans For Truth, we believe that although our disagreements with pro-homosexual activists are great, we can and should debate the issue of homosexuality with civility, and without resorting to name-calling.-Peter LaBarbera ***
I also clearly stated above the fold of this diary what occurred and where I stand on community standards of conduct here on the Blend.
The commenter in question, Barry Wick, was banned, and he has also apologized to LaBarbera via fax to CWA. CWA, incidentally, felt the need to contact my employer, resulting in calls to my office (Mr. LaBarbera listed it in his blog post). My employer is not affiliated with the blog in any form or fashion.
NOTE: I also contacted Mr. LaBarbera late yesterday to let him know that it would be productive -- and ethically consistent -- for his correction to be circulated as freely as the original press release and web site post, and to condemn those who are now attempting to harass me even though the record shows that the matter was resolved appropriately. |
