The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Latest Prop 8 fundie freakathon: call for prayer and fasting until it passes

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Sep 25, 2008 at 11:00:00 AM EDT

You can laugh at how the opposition is this completely batsh*t, but these are Sarah Palin's kind of peeps, and she would be one heartbeat away from the presidency.
Hundreds of pastors have called on their congregations to fast and pray for passage of a ballot measure in November that would put an end to gay marriage in California.

The collective act of piety, starting Wednesday and culminating three days before the election in a revival for as many as 100,000 people at the San Diego Chargers' stadium, comes as church leaders across California put people, money and powerful words behind Proposition 8.

Some pastors around the state and nation are encouraging their flocks to forgo solid food for up to 40 days in the biblical tradition.

Jim Garlow, the pastor of the evangelical Skyline Church in San Diego County, said he expects up to 100 young adults to spend five-plus weeks on his campus, subsisting on soup, juice and the promise of societal salvation.

"This is not political to us. We see it as very spiritual," said Garlow, a leader of an interfaith coalition that has held monthly teleconferences, shared sermons and solicited donations for the ballot measure.

This sort of thinking is right up Sarah's alley. After all, she had the Kenyan witchhunter Thomas Muthee lay his hands on her to ensure gubernatorial victory and to protect her from witchcraft.

Pam Spaulding :: Latest Prop 8 fundie freakathon: call for prayer and fasting until it passes
Keep your jaw from dropping onto the table. Can you imagine what our allies abroad (the ones we still have) think of this?
In a moment I'll be asking you to pray for Sarah... I tell you something, if all we do is get people to the church and get them saved... I don't think much will happen in our society. There are people who are wired to politics, because God wants to take the political, you know, dimension of our societies. Those people should be prayed for, and that's why I was so glad to see Sarah here. We should pray for her. We should buck her up. And come the day of voting we should not just pray for her, we should be there. ... If the believers had not done something in this country, your president would not be in office today.

We need believers who are educationists. If we hired them today, we would not be talking about the ten commandments being kicked... out of the schools. They would still be there. We need god taking over our education system. If we have God in our schools, we will not have our kids being taught how to worship Buddha, how to worship Muhammad. We will not have in the curriculum witchcraft and sorcery. ...

We need believers [in government]. We need men and women of integrity... people that are born-again, spirit-filled people who know God and people who are serious with God. So in a moment... I'll ask Sarah to come up. Please let's stand up, and let's hold hands all over this house. ...

[Palin walks up to the front of the chapel; two men flank her and lay hands on her, as does Muthee.]

Give her the personnel. Give her men and women that will buck her up. In the name of Jesus, we want righteousness in this state, we want righteousness in this nation... so that the curse that has been on them can be broken. ... In the name of Jesus, every form of witchcraft is what we rebuke.

H/t, JMG.

Soup? Juice?
What kind of 'fasting' is that?  Rookies.

Yeah,
They ought to go without food and water all together until all gay marriage is outlawed. (Including in other countries)

That should solve the problem after about a week.

What these people call a fast...
... the ancient Jews and early Christians would have called a feast, or at least a time of plenty.

These fundies are looking more and more like a bunch of overgrown grade schoolers.

Tax the Christian Taliban!

Soup
"subsisting on soup, juice and..."

Gives the expression "soup to nuts" a whole new meaning, doesn't it?

LOL!!!
Go Bill!

This prayer fast has been in the works
for a long time.
There's a planned group fast in San Diego (the origin and heart of anti gay Prop 8) at Qualcom Stadium (Chargers).  It's not just yes on 8, it's to pray for the government in general....
A culmination of this 40 day period will be THE CALL (www.thecall.com).  THE CALL CALIFORNIA will be held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Saturday, November 1, from 10 AM to 10 PM - involving men and women of God from every denomination - all united to create a climate of ongoing prayer and fasting in our state and across the nation.  We will cover many details regarding prayer and fasting in the June 25 statewide conference call.  In our hearts, we know that what is really needed is more than a voting victory in November.  What is needed is revival and an avalanche of Holy Spirit-given evangelism.  That is why we pray.

...anyone discussing COUNTER demonstrations?

....e.g. How about a nice BUFFET feast outside the stadium ...with lots of wafting BBQ smells!  Sort of a tailgate party to celebrate EVERYONES RIGHT TO MARRY!

Could even have some CEREMONIES...and that could be the RECEPTION!

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters

You just made coffee go up my nose.

That's a great visual and an awesome idea.

That's brilliant.  Seriously brilliant.

Or better yet...
...call Dominoes (since it's run by a fundie) and have them deliver to the hunger strike site.

Any bets on how long their "hunger strike for Jeebus" would last?

oh good lord
Jim Garlow, the pastor of the evangelical Skyline Church in San Diego County, said he expects up to 100 young adults to spend five-plus weeks on his campus, subsisting on soup, juice and the promise of societal salvation.

If this idea gains any traction
it'll be only a matter of time before Garlow tries to package and market it as The Jesus Diet.  Weight-loss books always sell well, so the paperback rights alone should be worth a fortune.  Not that these pastors are looking to make money off their flocks, of course...

I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights.  -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

[ Parent ]
Why does it always seem
it's someone else that does the hard work (in this case these 100 young people).

You never hear the leaders of these things fasting their overfed carcasses.

Cisgender. Because "Genetic" is so 2006.

[ Parent ]
I think this is a great idea
Remember when they prayed for it to rain on Obama and instead hurricane after hurricane pounded red states and disrupted the Repugnant's Convention.

Well, all this fasting could help defeat Proposition HATE in a landslide.

This is starting to make me believe in God and he's telling them he is very displeased with their hatred and bigotry.

Besser ein ende mit Schrecken als ein Schrecken ohne ende

To quote that great American...
..rabbit, Bugs Bunny....

"What a maroon"!!!

let's surround Qualcomm
with pagans, Buddhists, Moslems, and Queer Christians joined in prayer for those inside to be relieved of their hardness of heart and piety.  And don't blow BBQ smells, use hot buttered popcorn, far more wired in the human mind!

No, No!
We need to encourage as many Talibangelists as possible - especially those in California - to join in the fast.  Then when it comes time to actually get out and vote, they'll be too weak to go!

Sent to Oakland tribune today
Dear Editor:

I don't find it surprising that the majority of the money and effort behind Prop. 8 comes from a coalition of Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox Jewish, and Mormon groups (Tribune 9/25/08). They've always made their disapproval crystal clear. Although they disagree on the very nature of God and his message to the world-- and history is writ large in the blood and suffering caused by those disagreements-- the one thing they can agree on is that surely, gay people deserve neither the freedom to marry their life partners nor the equality before the law promised by our Constitution.

Should they lose the election, I wonder if that means that God does not share either their disapproval of gay people and same-sex marriage, or their political and social agendas?

Many religious groups-- Episcopalians, Reformed Jews, United Church of Christ, and MCC, to name just a few-- and many individuals, both gay and straight, religious and not, oppose Prop. 8, supporting full civil and religious marriage equality for gay people. They don't want a few conservative denominations restricting their beliefs and telling them what to do.

A vote for Prop. 8 is a vote against their freedom of religion.

Meh
Until these cats start lighting themselves on fire or nailing each other to 2x4's, I'm not going to be paying much mind to their 'fasting'.

I mean, if they were to fill up the Chargers stadium and then slit each others throats, then people might take notice.

Keep Fasting
Maybe if they really fast for 40 days, we won't have to worry about their votes - they will all have starved to death.

[ Parent ]
This is impolitic, I know...
...but I can't help myself.  It's called "Thinning the herd."

There are five weeks & four days until November 4
Fasting [water only] can be survived in that time, but:
Medically speaking, most doctors agree that healthy humans can go up to eight weeks without food as long as they have water. People have gone longer and been fine, and people have starved to death in less time. Being strong and in good physical shape can help you survive longer, but so does having extra body fat.

"Living Without Food" article: http://health.howstuffworks.co...

OK... maybe there'd be some fewer voters who are too weak to make it to the polls or have starved to death.  Nevertheless, at the risk of sounding traitorous, that's what I would call a deeply-held belief.  Their Truth is, obviously, not ours so all we can do is VOTE.

And the Wicked Shall Tempt the Righteous
I say we all go to McDonalds and Ralphs, meetup across the street from the Skyline Church for a tailgate party. We can eat our Happy Meals and drink some ice cold Miller Lite, and or Pepsi for minors and teetotalers.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. Hunter S.
