Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Check out Richardson

(Also check out Deb Price's column this week, Gay retirees need protection from discrimination, which discusses the impact of Bill Richardson's successful effort as governor to exend benefits to state employees in New Mexico. - promoted by pam)

I lived in New Mexico for 10 years.  During that time there was a Republican governor and then Bill Richardson, a Democrat.  The difference was night and day for lgbt people.

When Bill was getting to run for Governor he invited various constituency groups to meet with him and tell him what our priorities were.  For lgbt people, we said we had two primary priorities: hate crimes and non-discrimination legislation, transgender inclusive, that he would sign.  He said he had no problem with those priorities.  During the discussions, we asked for him to appoint lgbt people to state commissions and boards, including the university boards.  In a second meeting we asked for domestic partnership benefits for state employees.

Well Bill ran over the opposition in his first election for Governor.  During the first legislative session both of our bills were passed with some help from the Governor's office.  These were brawls and involved lots of name calling and stall tactics, not to mention attempts by the stupid security people on the planet trying to kick some of us out of the building.  That's another story for another day.

Anyway, there were signing ceremonies for both bills on the same day.  So it was a day of jubilance in the Land of Enchantment, at least for a large swath of the state.  At the evening ceremony, not only did the Governor sign the non-discrimination bill but he announced and signed an Executive Order giving domestic partnerships to state employees.

This was the culmination of many years of hard work by many people in New Mexico.  Not all of them lived to see this day but all of it remains as a legacy.

Governor Bill Richardson gave his word and he kept his word.  Please remember this when you look at the people running for President.

Good to know!
Thanks for sharing that good inside information on Richardson.  I'll definitely give him stronger consideration.  At least not ALL Dems suck! ;)

walk the talk
Thanks for the "I was there" info...very heartening.

Of All The Democrats Currently Running
Bill Richardson is the most highly qualified - and not just because of his gay-friendliness. His diverse career has given him insider's expertise that is invaluable to a President - expertise that neither Hillary, Barak or Johnny Boy has. In fact, the only Democrats that approach him in qualifications are currently not running (Al Gore and Wesley Clark).

Baggage
And it doesn't sound like he's carrying a lot of baggage coming into the game and the others.

Unfortunately
There is some baggage for Richardson.  There are rumors - rumors, now - that he has a running "joke" that involves female staffers, his crotch and various gestures.  Steve Clemons blogged about it, and I

That's not quite accurate...
he has a lot of baggage. However, it's the type of baggage that Bill Clinton, once elected, had no trouble finding someone to carry around for him.

We're all hoping that Big Bill can find somewhere to stash his baggage for 8 years in the White House that is a bit more discreet...but then, he has the example of the blowjob impeachment to motivate him and he's always been highly skilled at anything he wanted to accomplish.

But wait, there's more!

excellent quals
He also served as Ambassador to the UN and Secretary of Energy under Clinton, and recently negotiated a cease-fire in Darfur.

Crud
So my comment won't show up.

I'm a native New Mexican, and I also think Richardson is great.  My Republican relatives think Richardson is pretty good too, mainly because of his diplomacy skills.

But there's rumors going around about Richardson's behavior toward female staffers - that he will "joke" by pointing to and grabbing his crotch in front of him.  There's no credible assertion of an affair or any type of actual involvement on his part with other women, but this behavior, while unverified, is mentioned by some fairly credible people.

I've been having a conversation with Steve Clemons at the Washington Note about it, and I'm trying to get info from some of my relatives in Santa Fe.

Richardson would be a helluva President, but such behavior toward anybody is unacceptable, no matter what he brings to the table.

Here's hoping Richardson develops into the full package.

Sounds like he thinks
he's already got the full package. LOL.

Foreign Policy
Richardson would seem to be the strongest candidate on foreign policy.  I'm sure he's a contender for Secretary of State in any Democratic administration, having served previously as UN ambassador.  And I certainly don't rule him out for a higher position than that.

At this point, he's looking like my top choice for president.  I'm certainly interested in hearing more, anyway.  I hope he gets good and fair coverage and isn't cheated by the 'inevitability factor' of the superstar candidates.

tritium
Thank you MWT for that.  Sigh, Richardson sounds like perhaps the most authentic equality dem supporter this side of Kucinich.  Sadly, I have other qualms about him.

Richardson was energy sec'y under Clinton.  While at that post, he pushed for the production of tritium (heavy water, the stuff that makes the h-bomb so potent) in civilian nuclear reactors.  This was 1) in clear violation of int'l non-proliferation protocol; 2) flew in the face of what the US demands every other country do, or not do; 3) completely unnecessary, since there was plenty of tritium being slavaged from decommissioned warheads; 4) highly dangerous, since the civilian reactors were/are not designed or properly secured for this.

So, I question his judgement on this extremely imporatant matter of nuclear proliferation.

didn't just push for it
i neglected to say that he didn;t just push for this tritium production, he helped make sure that it did in fact happen.

He opposes our right to marry
I heard him on NPR today.

I refuse to get behind any candidate that refuses to get behind me.

If you want to get into truly fine differentiations of bigotry, then Wes Clark is the least bigoted candidate, Richardson might come in second, Obama is odds on the most bigoted followed by Edwards with sHillary in the middel of the pack.
