Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Breaking: Congress limits constituents' emails!

by: jonpincus

Tue Sep 30, 2008 at 20:50:12 PM EDT

(We can put a man on the moon, but the government cannot afford enough server power and bandwidth to handle constituent email. Perhaps Congress can shave off a sliver of that $780 billion of Wall Street bailout to upgrade the system. - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

Jordy Yager reports in The Hill:
The House is limiting e-mails from the public to prevent its websites from crashing due to the enormous amount of mail being submitted on the financial bailout bill.

As a result, some constituents may get a 'try back at a later time' response if they use the House website to e-mail their lawmakers about the bill defeated in the House on Monday in a 205-228 vote.

A question I hope people are asking: why did they underinvest so badly in machine capacity?  And while we're on the subject, am I the only person who notices that voice mail boxes get filled up by 8 p.m. in the evening?

It's almost like they don't want to hear from us or something ...

Fortunately, a lot of politicians have Facebook pages.  For example, here's a thread I set up on Nancy Pelosi's discussion board a couple of days ago.  Facebook is pretty scalable; I bet they could easily handle a few thousand messages per politician per day.  Maybe more.

List-in-progress of politicians' Facebook pages here.  If you know other links (on Facebook or MySpace), please add them!

Ted Stevens invented the Congressional email system
it's literally a series of tubes

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

No surprise that...
they are having trouble with this. A lot of groups have sent out alerts and with the news harping on it 24/7 there this has been spreading to the masses.

When deploying a system you deploy what you think is a bit more than what you will handle on an average day. When things spike then limits have to be placed. You do not want to invest heavily into a huge system unless the strain on the servers is so constant that it demands to be done.

THE best way to let the politicians know how you feel is to call, fax, and snail mail (I would say the Post Office would appreciate the business but there have been a ton of mail carriers busted recently for not delivering the mail). If they vote your way be sure to call and say thank you.

They need to plan for peak load, not just average
It's just like monster.com when they ran their SuperBowl ad, Amazon for the holiday season or the Post Office when they think about April 15.  A system needs to have the capacity to be able to deal with peak load.  From Congress' standpoint, these are the times when it's most important for citizens to be able to contact their legislators.

Agreed about phoning and faxing.  The same problems happen there, though: with FISA phone lines were jammed and voice mailboxes overflowing, and fifteen months ago during anti-REAL ID activism overloaded the DHS's fax machines were overloaded with just a few thousand faxes a day.

To me, it looks like a pattern of underinvestment in giving citizens a voice.

So in response to howls of outrage from their constituents...
Congress disconnects the constituents to our Congresscritters don't have to listen to the pissing and moaning.

Wow, what a brilliant and enlightened thing to do!

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.

The Bill of Rights guarantees us
the right to petition the government.  Looks like that is going the way of our other constitutional rights.

Not hear from us?
It's almost like they don't want to hear from us or something ...

Of course they want to hear from us! At least until Nov. 5
