The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Amanda steps aside

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Feb 12, 2007 at 21:00:00 PM EST

[UPDATE: Melissa steps down, more after the flip.]

She tells everyone why she decided to resign from the Edwards campaign over at Pandagon. I don't have any inside scoop, btw, or any news about whether Shakes is still on board. More when I know it.

Tuesday, 6AM: There are plenty of folks talking about the developments; I'm in the unfortunate position of not having time to post my thoughts this AM (my other posts written overnight are slated go up on their own), but I'll get something up on this topic when I can.

Pam Spaulding :: Amanda steps aside
I've been offline for quite some time, so I just found out that Melissa McEwan (Shakes Sis) has resigned from the position of netroots coordinator for John Edwards campaign. A snippet:
I would like to make very clear that the campaign did not push me out, nor was my resignation the back-end of some arrangement made last week.  This was a decision I made, with the campaign's reluctant support, because my remaining the focus of sustained ideological attacks was inevitably making me a liability to the campaign, and making me increasingly uncomfortable with my and my family's level of exposure.

I understand that there will be progressive bloggers who feel I am making the wrong decision, and I offer my sincerest apologies to them.  One of the hardest parts of this decision was feeling as though I'm letting down my peers, who have been so supportive.
No, you haven't let anyone down. Far from it, and you don't have to be the martyr for the blogosphere.. The Malkin and the LGF set decided to pile on two junior staffers of a Democratic candidate, partying while burning the house down, incinerating not only the left blogosphere, but the right as well. It's certainly time for Patrick Hynes, the blogger hired by John McCain as a consultant (see Glenn's post on his classy handiwork), to be held accountable for his past written shenanigans if that is the measure of makes one employable by a campaign.

On the matter of bloggers and vetting them for mainstream political employment by judging past opining (and that's what it is, not straight reporting), thoughts from Michael Bérubé are wise:

OK, because we're in new political territory here, let's treat this as a legitimate question.  Clearly, blogging involves a very different kind of rhetorical compact with one's readers than campaigning does.  But not until last week, so far as I know, has there ever been a demand in this country that ordinary campaign staffers account to the candidate - and to the general public - for everything they've written prior to becoming campaign staffers.  If you sincerely think that the fault lies with Amanda for not alerting the Edwards camp to the full metal Pandagon archives, well, I think you're being played.

"Our humble apologies, but the site is down"
"Whenever the site is up, we're flooded by asshat spammers. We'll just have to wait out the attack; rest assured we'll be back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks! "

Anybody know what's going on?

Social outrage is power protecting itself; it is not morality. -- Andrea Dworkin

Well
Half the trolls on the internet probably suddenly came out of the woodwork to gloat or whatever. That would be my guess.
Pity I wanted to read what she had said too, but I guess that can wait until tomorrow morning.

I posted some background on Donahue
http://lloydletta.bl...

In my opinion his worst moment was defending Deal Hudson about his history of sexually assaulting a student at Fordham.

This has also been discussed at a bit of length over at BlueMassGroup...
...a generally liberal Massachusetts blog

Disappointing....
I'm not going to spread conspiracy theory here, but it would seem plausible, possible, and likely that she may have been asked to fall on her sword. Edwards couldn't very well fire her without alienating the netroots types and he couldn't keep her without having serious political liability.

I'm not buying this.

I'm not buying it, either...
...but I do have to question her sanity for going with a "candidate candidate" who isn't going anywhere.

Edwards will never be the Dem candidate.

Bad employment decision
Anyone can make a bad employment decision and walk into a hornet's nest unknowingly.

IF...IF she was asked to fall on her sword, I think I'd be walking like her too.  I'd have too much pride and self-respect to stay in an environment like that.  Honestly, Edwards should have been smart enough not to take someone on the team that has such strong political opinions.  To play in that game, you really have to hold in your own beliefs and feelings, and some of us just aren't capable of that.

As usual Callie is right
but another thing we have to factor in is that, for the most part, blogers have the basic personal anonymity the world wide web offers. By making the move out into the greater, unprotected world she lost that anonymity and you don't realize the greatness of that loss until it happens.

The average blog is read by one reader. When a blogger and their blog suddenly become so high profile the readership becomes relatively enormous. I would not be surprised that included among the spam were death threats - threats that could be carried out given her newborn lack of anonymity.

[ Parent ]
Melissa has gone out of her way to say she herself decided to resign.
She was not asked to go by anyone.

The threats to her life may have had something to do with it.........

[ Parent ]
Threats?
Bah.  Scared to silence doesn't seem quite like her style.  Besides.  Tejas has a C+C law.

[ Parent ]
It's not over yet
Donohue is DEMANDING that Edwards fire ShakesSis TODAY.

Jesus Christ don't they have anything better to do with their time?
I mean, geez. They're not even trying to hide the fact that they're issuing threats anymore.

[ Parent ]
That's just wrong...
Melissa needs the job (not that Amanda doesn't).  Those people are disgusting...

Amanda is apparently getting spammed...
...so bad they've suspended the site.

I really am blown away by by just how juvenile, stupid, and insane the wingnut reaction to her is.  There are a real bunch of incredibly dumb Rightwing Authoritarian Cultists out there who have more in common with certain Germans from the middle of the last century than with Americans.

Why those people choose to live here, while despising everything this country stands for is a huge mystery to me.

I would also bet that the crossover from hating Amanda to hating LGBT people and non-white people is probably 100%.

Another indication we are living in the last days of the American Republic...

????
I have absolutely no idea how I double posted!  Please feel free to remove one & this comment, too!

[ Parent ]
Double standard
If you're "religious" you can say anything about anyone, as nastily as you want to say it.  It's "free speech", and "free exercise", and everyone is supposed to admire your conviction--even if they don't agree with you.

If you're not religious you're expected to keep your mouth shut.  If you dare open it, you had better be nice and polite and never, ever question the whole basis for someone's ideas about gods and holy scripture and such.  Because that would be 'offensive'.

Sorry, but real live human beings are deserving of more respect than so-called "sacred" literary characters.  The rights of women in our society is something important.  Being "respectful" of Virgin Mary is not, and it's ridiculous to cliam that it is.

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

To get respect, you have to earn it
But these nuts haven't earned it, so I don't have to give it.  However, "religion" is supposed to make the most horrible person "respectable" and that's why they hide their hate (those these aren't hiding it anymore) behind it.

On board now to read Amanda regularly
Thanks to the off-key caterwaulings of willfully ignorant media whores like Donohue and Malkin, I'm going to be a regular reader of Amanda's when her site's up again, and link to it from my own little-read, inadequately updated blog

And her posting today showed one thing more than any other

If people thought her rhetoric was harsh and scorching before, just wait, I have a feeling Donohue in particular is in for some real rude, profane broadsides aimed at his worthless ass

I think that Amanda hammering on This Post from the frameshop blog would REALLY hit back at that pompous, unChristian, self-aggrandizing jerkoff Donohue

You keep hitting 'em hard Amanda, you've got more support now than you did before Malkin and Donohue-AKA Tweedledum and Tweedledumber-decided to pull this stunt
