The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Presidential Town Hall open thread

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Oct 07, 2008 at 20:30:00 PM EDT

(UPDATE: A full transcript is now up, as well as reactions from Malkin and the Freepi.)

10:55 PM ET. You can review the commentary in the Blend CoveItLive Chat Room that we held during the town hall between Barack Obama and John McCain at Belmont University, Nashville, TN. It was moderated by Tom Brokaw.

Click on the CIL icon at left to join in the fun, but feel free to "keep score" and do virtual shouting at the TV in the comments.

***

WTF was this comment by McCain - what a rude SOB.

"MCCAIN: I know you grow a little weary with this back-and-forth. It was an energy bill on the floor of the Senate loaded down with goodies, billions for the oil companies, and it was sponsored by Bush and Cheney.

You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one. (points to Obama) You know who voted against it? Me. I have fought time after time against these pork barrel -- these bills that come to the floor... ."

This was the slam-dunk moment of the night, where Barack Obama smoothly points out McCain's lack of judgment. McCain looked like a fool (and you know he was seething).

Now, Senator McCain suggests that somehow, you know, I'm green behind the ears and, you know, I'm just spouting off, and he's somber and responsible.

MCCAIN: Thank you very much.

OBAMA: Senator McCain, this is the guy who sang, "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran," who called for the annihilation of North Korea. That I don't think is an example of "speaking softly."

This is the person who, after we had -- we hadn't even finished Afghanistan, where he said, "Next up, Baghdad."

So I agree that we have to speak responsibly and we have to act responsibly. And the reason Pakistan -- the popular opinion of America had diminished in Pakistan was because we were supporting a dictator, Musharraf, had given him $10 billion over seven years, and he had suspended civil liberties. We were not promoting democracy.

This is the kind of policies that ultimately end up undermining our ability to fight the war on terrorism, and it will change when I'm president.

The right wing is losing its cookies over McCain's new bailout proposal. It's below the fold.
Pam Spaulding :: Presidential Town Hall open thread
McCain's proposal to buy up (more?) mortgages has the wingers apoplectic. The base is crumbling. Michelle Malkin:
I can't underscore enough what a rotten idea John McCain's ACORN-like government mortgage buy-up is. I said it during my liveblog. And I'll say it again: "HE WANTS TO EXPAND THE BAILOUT. He wants to do what ACORN wants to do. We're Screwed '08."

This was his supposed "game-changer." This was the very first thing out of his mouth during the debate tonight - his big pitch right off the bat. The McCain campaign immediately sent out this fact sheet on the proposal, which will cost at least $300 billion. The proposal involves directing the Treasury Secretary to "purchase mortgages directly from homeowners and mortgage servicers." That's on top of the trillion-dollar crap sandwich, the $85 billion to AIG, the $25 billion to automakers, the $200 billion in capital and credit lines to Fannie and Freddie, and who knows what else we'll be forking over to California, Massachusetts, etc., etc., etc.

He spent the entire debate assailing massive government spending - while his featured proposal of the night was to heap on more massive government spending to pursue home ownership/retention at all costs. If Obama had proposed this, the Right would be screaming bloody murder about this socialist grab.

The Freepi heads are exploding!

Actual Freeper Quotes

I'm so incredibly angry about this that I can't see straight.

Get over it! I don't care what McCain says. He can say whatever he wants, just so long as we keep NOBAMA out of the WH!

Why don't you wait and here what the plan is first? McCain said he will have freezes, cuts, and his budgets with be revenue neutral. Give the man a chance.

Is it just me or do we have to chose between two very bad candidates?

I forget, which one is the socialist?

Yawn. I would vote for Satan rather than The Empty Maxist Suit.

I love you koolaiders. You amuse me. SOCIALISM IS GOOD BECAUSE MCCAIN SAYS SO! RAH RAH RAH!

Memo to Michelle Malkin: try attacking the other side. I have become so tired of this woman.

This is going to backfire because most Americans have to pay their mortgages and their taxes and only a small percentage of homeowners are in trouble. If it looks like welfare, and it smells like welfare, it's welfare. This will cost him a couple of points in the polls.

That made me apoplectic. Talk about frigging socialism and right after this bailout monstrosity that he suspended his campaign to help push through. How in the world did this guy become the standard bearer of our nominally "conservative" party? He is a BIG GOVERNMENT LIBERAL. Is he as bad as Obama? Of course not but he is the ultimate proof that we are left with two liberal parties in the US. We have no national conservative party. We have the democrat party and the democrat-light party.

It just depends on what the guidelines for the buy are, but right now..I have to go the same way our COMRADES on the other side. Whatever it takes to defeat Obama..we can deal with the details with McCain the White House, and Palin swinging the gavel in the SEnate..sorry Harry, but she is the President.

Well, here's the thing. They bring in Sarah Palin to shore up the conservative base and the theory is that that frees up McCain to work on winning over the independents. We just had a fantastically unpopular bailout of ... how many billions are we up to? ... and McCain essentially said he's going to ADD to that. Is this going to win over the independents? I'm thinking it's not. But yes, in theory, it's all about keeping Obama and his thugs out of power.

Carla Fiorina is on Fox right now supporting this Socialism and is proud of the idea that Gov't should be doing this.

I am sick to my stomach over it. Carly Fiorina is on Fox now saying we have to stop falling house prices! Government can now set the value of houses? What happened to the free market? It's called a bubble for a reason!!!!!!! Somebody pinch me.

NOBAMA can spend all night flatulating out of his mount and the RATS won't give a RATSASS, just as long as he wins. WELL, WE'D BETTER WAKE THE HELL UP TOO, AND STOP THE INTERNAL WHINING FOR KRIPES SAKES!

No, he's only proposed trillions in spending/economic cuts via global warming. No need to get worked up over that, of course. Because McCain's socialism is good, right?

Yeah, she stands up for conservatism and following the law. The guy you idolize stands for socialism and breaking the law. I can see where you tire. We may have to vote for this tired old hump named McCain just to keep the Marxist out, but if Mc gets in, it isn't exactly a victory.

I understand how you feel, but these morons like Malkin need to stand back and take a careful look at the man they are helping to get into office, Barack Obama. McCain's desire to spend $300 billion pales in comparison to any of a number of Obama's proposals, such as the $775 billion World Poverty Relief bill. Add to that all the lost freedom, which is nearly impossible to get back, that Obama wants to see legislated, and people like Michelle Malkin need to just shut the hell up and quit preening in front of their blogging mirrors. No offense to anyone other than Michelle intended.

"WELL, WE'D BETTER WAKE THE HELL UP TOO, AND STOP THE INTERNAL WHINING FOR KRIPES SAKES!"

Hard not to when our candidate just poked us in the eye like that.

Can't - the socialists have taken over this thread. I've said it before, FR needs a socialist enema.

so who is going to bankroll the island where FReepers can live? I couldn't be more mad at McCain right now even if I tried.

"How in the world did this guy become the standard bearer of our nominally 'conservative' party?"

Tired of the blame game
Wall Street did not precipitate this crisis; it began on the Singapore markets.

The final, ultimate reason for the crisis is NOT being addressed:
The exhaustion of credit and a currency faminine, both caused by unending printing of currency issues without adequate backing and deficit spending beyond the capacity to collatoralise or to generate revenuse to pay the debt.

"Wall Street Greed" is both a whipping boy and a red herring.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RACIST!!!!  (As a privileged white gay male, I hate to throw the race card, but I found that comment to be unbelievably offensive.  If I'm wrong, please help me to understand why, b/c I was just blown away by that.  McCain is, please forgive my French, a completely racist FUCK.  Palin is even worse.  Fucking fascist BITCH.)

Keith O is also pointing out that when McCain...
..was asked a question by a young black gentleman, McCain was very condesending towards him and forgot his name after saying it the first time.

 McCain is a RACIST PIG!!!!!

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

[ Parent ]
The kids we watched with caught that, too.
When he forgot the young man's name--one kid actually shouted "His name is OLIVER, dumb ass".

Several people also brought up the fact the he seemed to be talking down to the audience, in general. Like he thinks he is better than they are.

He is not just racist, but classist.

susanferman.wordpress.com

[ Parent ]
Oh, and speaking of condescending
I was just watching the re-broadcast and remembered that I had wanted to comment on this:

In his reply to that same African American young man, McCain said, "Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac--you may not have even heard of them before this crisis," speaking directly to Oliver (Yeah, McLame, that is the guy's name).

Love the assumption that this gentleman may not have even heard of Fannie and Freddy pre-meltdown. Because you know, rich elitist white guys like McCain just assume that a young African American man would know nothing about buying a house.

"That one"
Is the exact phrase I have heard older people (HIS age) use when discussing a misbehaving/delinquent child or petty criminal.

The college kids I was with were really offended when they heard that. They were actually shocked to hear that come out of McCain's mouth--we could hear people behind us gasping.

debate was a mauling....Andrew Sullivan
"10.33 pm. This was, I think, a mauling: a devastating and possibly electorally fatal debate for McCain. Even on Russia, he sounded a little out of it. I've watched a lot of debates and participated in many. I love debate and was trained as a boy in the British system to be a debater. I debated dozens of times at Oxofrd. All I can say is that, simply on terms of substance, clarity, empathy, style and authority, this has not just been an Obama victory. It has been a wipe-out.It has been about as big a wipe-out as I can remember in a presidential debate. It reminds me of the 1992 Clinton-Perot-Bush debate. I don't really see how the McCain campaign survives this. "

"race, taste. and History finally overcome....and you ain't there"

The Second Presidential Debate
from HuffPo
Tonight's debate wasn't even close. Sen. Barack Obama ran away with it -- particularly when speaking about the economy and health care. Talking about his mother's death from cancer was very powerful. On nearly every issue, Obama was more substantive, showed more compassion and was more presidential.

In contrast, Sen. John McCain was extremely erratic. Sometimes he was too aggressive (referring to Obama as "that one.") Other times, he just couldn't answer the question (on how he would ask Americans to sacrifice.) And his random attempts at jokes (hair transplants?) were just bad.

Tom Brokaw was terrible as moderator. His fixation with the rules -- particularly when the candidates were not complaining -- was distracting and a disservice to everyone. The format didn't work very well, but Brokaw made it worse.

Excellent Job Barack!
Poise of Barack Obama was simply uncanny and his message was crystal clear.  I don't think he missed a single opportunity tonight, to eloquently delineate the fundamental differences between his calm and tempered leadership ability in contrast to McKneejerk.

McSame continues to struggle with looking as sincere which was (at least to me) evident in his decohesive posturing and discordant facial and hand movements.  Also, he only spoke to the Republican base, which is cool by me.

Barack and Michelle stayed behind to talk with the folks after the debate.  John and Cindy left almost immediately after the debate.  Perhaps, they were late for a klan rally and did not want to miss Palin's opening remarks.

We do not have a choice but to elect Senator Barack Obama as our next president because:

1) We cannot afford another fascist justice in our top court.
2) We cannot continue to afford unjust wealth distribution egregiously skewed toward rich corporations and the wealthy.
3) We cannot in good conscience accept not providing equal access for all Americans to quality healthcare and education.
4) We cannot afford not to pursue energy independence with innovative/new technologies and new job skills.
5) We cannot afford not building/strengthening our alliances and taking the lead on human rights around the world.

If you love America,
Improve your karma
And vote for Obama.

Peace.

And as McCain said, at least twice,
"We need a steady hand..."

I found that ironic to be coming from a guy with serious anger issues.

"That one"
Wow! I don't think McCain meant it that way it sounded.

But, do we want a president who doesn't choose his words wisely? We've had eight years of that.

If you're a rich, white guy, the last thing you want to do is refer to a person of color as an object.

Objectification is often racist in nature. It robs a person of his or her individuality.

Being referred to as a thing rather than as a person was one of the ways slaves were dehumanized.

McCain could have said, "That man." He didn't. To many it will be the same as "that black" or "that uppity n-word."

A 'Terrible' Debate Performance By Brokaw and Organizers
"We've come to lower our expectations for real debates in the "debate" process, but this one was terrible.

Who picked the questions from the, we were told, six million sent in online plus the dozens from the people in the hall? The first half was fine but then why go into the same foreign policy questions raised two weeks ago -- knowing they were certain to draw the very same, almost word for word responses? After kicking off the debate by saying we were in the worst economic crisis in 80 years?

The transcript for the last half hour could have been typed up in advance.

Remember, this was supposed to be the "domestic policy" debate. Yet there we were once again talking about raids on Pakistan and defending Israel. Brokaw and the organizers let down the American public.

Brokaw kept complaining that the candidates were not staying within their time limits--and then did nothing to stop them beyond pleading with them to, maybe, keep an eye on the flashing lights, pretty please, huh?

And his "follow up" questions were weak.

I thought I'd never say this but -- maybe they should let the blogosphere handle the next one."

When McCain won the republican primary, he became the republican nominee. A vote for someone like Bob Barr or a write-in vote for Hannah Montana by a conservative to protest McCain has the same effect, helping Obama because a vote is not cast for the republican in a two man race.

DO you understand this concept?
,,,,,
Huck would have at least made this debate bearable. His "spending money like John Edwards at a beauty parlor" was a highlight of the primary season.
......
huck would have been unbearable! his populist pap makes me want to puke.
.....
Krauthammer hammering McCain on nationalizing the mortgage industry.
.....
Maybe McCain could just be sick and Sarah Palin could show up instead next debate.

The Town Hall Debate: Old John
"But it's  not simply a question of empathy. Obama is winning because his economic narrative is better than McCain's. He speaks to and for the people who have been left behind in the late boom -- and what the Republicans still don't realize is that the vast majority of Americans were left out of the Wall Street boom of the past half-decade. Obama's long-term solutions are more directed to their needs than McCain's are. And even when McCain comes up with a progressive idea, such as directing the public purchase of distressed mortgages, the idea sits alone, an island of progressivism in a laissez-faire sea. It's too late for McCain, and for Republicans generally, to change their economic narrative. As recently as this winter, when the Republican candidates debated during the primaries, all of them were seeking to claim Ronald Reagan's mantle. McCain is still wearing it, but it's threadbare now; it's not what the country either needs or wants.

Obama is using the debates to reassure the nation as to his own steadiness and, just as important, to make himself the candidate of the future and to link McCain to the policies of a failed past. Tonight, largely unwittingly, McCain abetted him in that task."

Focus On The Flip-Flop: Dobson Decides To Endorse McCain After All
"Employing some creative verbal judo, Dobson attempted to argue that he's not really endorsing the Arizona senator.

"While I will not endorse either candidate this year...I can say I'm now supportive of Sen. John McCain in his bid for the presidency," he said.

Dobson then went on to list four reasons why listeners should vote for McCain (McCain opposes abortion, the GOP 2008 platform is extremely conservative, McCain selected evangelical Christian Sarah Plain as his running mate and Democratic nominee U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is too liberal). He harshly criticized Obama for his views and attacked his running mate, U.S. Sen. Joe Biden. His arguments were a rehash of various GOP talking points against the Obama-Biden ticket.

Dobson can split all of the hairs he wants. His broadcast is obviously an endorsement of McCain. It shows once again how top leaders of the Religious Right, who claim to be a leading a movement that puts principle above party, long ago became a collection of partisan operatives who make the necessary political compromises to try to keep their hold on power.

More than a year ago, as I sat in the ballroom during the Values Voter Summit listening to McCain and the other GOP hopefuls, I felt reasonably confident that if McCain got the nod, Dobson would end up falling in line.

He didn't disappoint me. Listening to his message yesterday, it seemed to me the only thing missing was an audio clip from McCain at the end: "I'm John McCain, and I approve this message."

It's never really over until the fat perv who showers  with the boy to show sonny, Daddy's bigger tool....SINGS!

Racism on a subliminal level...
Since the McCain campaign went all negative, all the time I have been looking for signs of oblique racism in some of the words and deeds of he and Palin.  One that you might have missed last night is when he referred to "gold plated Cadillac" health insurance plans.  Another big one is the fact that Palin is now playing the "Rocky" theme at the close of all her speeches.  I think it was Spike Lee, speaking in an interview as much as ten years ago, who made the point that the most frightened he had ever been in his life as a black man in America was in a movie theater in 1976 watching Rocky.  I have a feeling we are all going to need a long, hot shower when the dust finally settles.

Here's one for Obama then...
Last of an Ancient Breed by Desmond Child.

It is the last track on the soundtrack album from a 1979 movie called The Warriors.

The Warriors was pulled from many theaters when it resulted in several cases of race-motivated violence including a couple of murders.

A high school classmate of mine was stabbed to death in the lobby of a theater in Oxnard, California after seeing the movie. He was targeted by a group of black kids simply because of his long blond hair.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

Contempt Once Again
The GOP is the normative party, the party of rigid and inhuman rules vs. humanistic concern for individuality (cf. the work of Silvan Tomkins), and ridden with contempt for anyone who seems lesser in their eyes.

McCain drips with contempt--as in his Uriah Heapish "my friends"--and it was on full display with "that one."  See, he could have said: "Him!" or even "Senator Obama!"  But when you say "That one," you're distancing yourself from someone you feel superior to and that's the core of contempt.

They're trying to do that on a larger scale via Palin, and that's where it gets scary.  Contempt out of control becomes mob violence, lynching, crime, and even genocide.  Is it any wonder we're hearing cries of "Kill him!" and "terrorist!" in McCain or Palin audiences?

That one!" explained
from radaronline, the possible reaons why McStumble said "That one!"

• He forgot Obama's name.
• He didn't want to say Obama's name out of fear that he might make the "Osama" slip-up.
• He did want to say Obama's name so that he could explicitly make the "Osama" slip-up, but forgot Obama's name.
• He didn't want to say Obama's name because he has no respect for Obama and doesn't believe they belong on the same stage.
• He didn't want to say Obama's name because he's infuriated with Obama for not bending over and taking it like previous Democratic nominees.
• He was so busy channeling Ross Perot that he decided he might as well do an homage to the diminutive Texan's "you people" moment.
• "That one" focus tested better than "the colored boy over there."
• Old people have a harder time identifying discrete shapes and forms; McCain wanted to make clear that he was talking about Obama and not the bunting in the background.
• McCain has come to realize that his incredibly dishonest campaign, with its desperate use of fearmongering and racial animus, will go down in history as one of the ugliest attempts to win the presidency at the expense of honesty, comity, and basic human decency, and, worst of all, it won't even be successful. This man, who spent five years under the most brutal conditions imaginable, has forever tarnished his legacy and when people one hundred years from now look back at the election of 2008 all they'll remember him for is failed gimmicks, coded bigotry, and the disturbing way in which he doddered about the stage. His guilt-not only at destroying his own reputation, but at the low and poisonous way in which he's tried to destroy Obama's-is so overwhelming that McCain can barely shake Obama's hand, meet his eye, or say his name.
• They all look alike.
