Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Fundies wail over Hallmark's line of same-sex couple cards

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Oct 08, 2008 at 10:30:00 AM EDT

California bible-beaters are signing a petition to boycott Hallmark for its same-sex couple greeting cards. The petition is at the Family Policy Network:
To: Hallmark Cards CEO Donald J. Hall

In Isaiah 5:20, God warns against exchanging good for evil by saying, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (NKJV)

In Mark 10:6-8, God's design for marriage is expressed clearly by Jesus Christ, when He declares, "But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.' For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh." (NKJV)

I urge you to withdraw any and all products sold by your company that celebrate, condone or otherwise encourage homosexual conduct and/or relationships. Unless and until you do, you have my pledge that I will refrain from doing business with your company.

You have to read some of the letters sent to Hallmark. A sampling is after the jump.
Pam Spaulding :: Fundies wail over Hallmark's line of same-sex couple cards
These people are so tiring. The haugthy bleatings are probably laughed at in the Hallmark offices.
* Madonna in Shasta Lake, CA writes, "We're supposed to love the sinner and hate the sin...loving them isn't condoning their sinful choice."

* Lucretia in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA writes, "I will no longer, ever, buy another Hallmark product, under any name, unless you pull these cards."

* Brenda in Olivehurst, CA writes, "Not only I, but my entire family no longer buy cards and gift from your company, and we will not as long as you promote homosexuality."

* Dave in Roseville, CA writes, "My family and friends will no longer buy any Halllmark products unless and until you stop celebrating homosexual conduct."

* Dixie in Watsonville, CA writes, "God created Adam and Eve to marry not Joseph and Steve or Mary and Eve!"

* Kathy in Mission Viejo, CA writes, "You are putting the dollar over principle. How many cards will you sell to homosexuals vs. non homosexuals? Do the math!"

* Sherrie in Carmichael, CA writes, "I have been collecting Precious Moments figurines for many years now. I won't be buying them from your stores anymore."

* James in Cobb Mountain, CA writes, "Please remove all cards & greetings that support the homosexual lifestye; as it is SIN; and against The Word Of God; Our Families; and Nation."

* Cathleen in Costa Mesa, CA writes, "I will not scandalize family members with cards mocking tradtional marriage . [It] is unnatural and not healthy for those individuals. That is not love."

* Richard in Sacramento, CA writes, "Some men will choose to maintain the peace at any price, even make a truce with the enemy. Peace is not the absence of war, peace is victory over the enemy."

* Gary in San Diego, CA writes, "Marriage is a sacred union instituted by God, and re-defining it to include homosexuals makes it profane! Cloaking it in "love" does not make it legitimate!"

* Jeanette in San Diego, CA writes, "Traditional marriage is a God given gift. It saddens me to see the abnormal celebrated just to make a buck."

* Glen in Torrance, CA writes, "God designed sex between a husband and wife. ...Sex outside of marriage is wrong. Stop edorsing sexual immorality by recognizing homosexual immorality."

* M.E. in LOS ANGELES, CA writes, "We have been purchasing Hallmark cards for over 60 years. We are outraged that you would sell cards that celebrate such immoral & unnatural activity."

Well, we can always thank Hallmark for recognizing our relationships:

From a Foreign Perspective
American Fundie Christians are some of the most hilarious comedians ever. Little Britain eat your heart out!

of all the small tedious things for the Reich Wing to get their knickers in a twist about
Hallmark probably tries out hundreds of new lines of cards EVERY SEASON, of those maybe 5 show signs of good sales.
and nobody who isn't on the board of Hallmark cares.

I'm grateful Hallmark included our celebrations, but it's not like the LGBT community hasn't been creating OUR OWN cards for decades.

Our own cards
Great point petey. I started my own line of ethnic lgbt cards a few years ago because the Hallmarks of the world didn't have us on their raydar. While I prefer cards 'for us made by us', I'll be sending Hallmark a thanks for supporting the community.

Lavenderpop Greeting Cards

Have they ever really been inclusive?
Around 1999 or 2000 a friend of mine's grandmother died.  I went to Hallmark looking for a fairly religious condolence card because they are a very devout family and I really thought that that would be what they would be turning to at that time.  Guess what-no Muslim cards at all.  There were a ton of Christian cards, being mouth breathing Wheaton and all (where religion is a competitive sport and you always seem to see a Jesus fish on the back bumper of the asshole driver who keeps cutting people off and ignores yellow lights, not even after they turn red), and a few token Jewish cards but nothing else.  It's not like they wouldn't have a market for that sort of thing, there's a mosque only a mile or two away.

My America includes LGBT families.

[ Parent ]
SO LETS SEE.....

They now have to boycott Hallmark, Levi's, PG & E, AT & T, Pepsico (who just gave $500,000 to PFLAG for more Staight for Equality training at US companies.),

...and then a few other PFLAG Sponsors,CocoCola,Citicorps,  IBM, MetLife,Dow, Ford, Motorola, BestBuy, Wells Fargo, Comcast, WalMart, FM, Aetna...etc.etc. Plus all the companies on HRC's lists that fully support gay rights.

We need to focus on food companies
If we can just get every food company to support same sex marriage, they'll have to boycott food.

If we get DADT ended
Maybe they will boycott America.
Alaska would have them and wants to split away anyways; Governor Palin supports independence.

all that hot air, that close to the Artic Circle? Global warming in 3,2,1...but at least the wolves and polar bears would have lots of food.

I thought they'd all been shot by guns wielded from helicopters.

They don't send Hallmark anyway
Everyone knows that "conservatives" don't sent out Hallmark cards anyway.

They send Fantus.

Not that there's anything wrong with Fantus.  Just don't tell everyone you send Hallmark, when you send Wal-Mart.

So where do the Fundie shop now?
Seems to me that the list of places they are boycotting because of teh gays is getting pretty long.  A quick search of past Blend pages shows the following are being boycotted:

Disney Land
Ford
Oprah
McDonalds
PG&E
Wrigley gum
Starbucks
Microsoft

I'm sure I must have missed some...

Oops
I see that Orion45 put together an even better list while I was typing mine.  Good job.

[ Parent ]
Don 't forget Pacific Gas & Electric
Of course, most of them probably wouldn't miss electricity.  They seem to spend their lives in the dark already.

Yea, verily, The Book of Greetings saith that cards congratulating sodomites and lesbianites are an abomination before the Lord and those who readeth, buyeth or sendeth them or condone their design, printing, stocking or purchase shall be condemned to the everlasting fires of a 24/7 amateur production of Riverdance.

there they go again
they make it sound like they will now be forced to not only gay marry and adopt a gay baby but then send a gay greeting card to mark the occasion.

i promise not to gay adopt james dobson or any of his flock if they promise to stop annoying me.

Poor, little minded fundies...
...they got their little feelings hurt over someone else's happiness.

(Somebody drag out the tiny violin, again).

They're miserable
and expect everyone else to be miserable as well. Misery is their penance for the Original Sin. They believe that they must sacrifice the joy of life in order to be able to enjoy the after-life.

There you go again

Except for Shasta City
I notice these are all extreme So Cal located cities....those fundies in San Diego County and the Inland Empire are working overtime.

eta
Remember it was San Diego County organization and churches which spearheaded the Anti gay marriage amendment.

Don't forget the southern half of the OC.
There's one from Mission Viejo, one from Costa Mesa, and one from Rancho Santa Margarita.  This is from the same county that gave us Richard Nixon, Lou Sheldon and his daughter, and the Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Dear Hallmark;
The Goddess tells us that "all acts of love and pleasure" are Her rituals. The wedding cards for gay and Lesbian couples help to enhance their joy; they are definitely pleasing in Her eyes.

Do these nitwits
seriously believe that a few gay-themed greeting cards constitute a serious threat to heterosexual privilege in this country?  Every time you think they can't get any dipper, they do.  Real overachievers, these folks.

Sent thank you e-mail to Hallmark
Hi...new to the Blend...well not really, but today was the first time I've signed up for a log in.  Been reading it for about 2 years now though.

After seeing this entry this morning I sent a thank you e-mail to Hallmark, and received a reply from them fairly quickly.  You can view the reply at:
http://blog.myspace.com/index....

Please, take it personally, because that's how I meant it.

K

That's really nice!
Of both Hallmark and also of you for sharing the reply for all to read (which I went over and did).

Thanks, K! :)

Let them boycott
until their world shrinks to a little island of pious hate. Then they can turn and eat each other.

"Putting the dollar over principle"
"* Kathy in Mission Viejo, CA writes, "You are putting the dollar over principle. How many cards will you sell to homosexuals vs. non homosexuals? Do the math!"

So if they bow to the boycott, which is designed to hurt their bottom line, are they putting the dollar over principle there?

I really wish logic classes would return to the core curriculum.

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly

go easy on her
recitation can be difficult.  remember that most lines that the fundies spout are not original thoughts, but a recycled belch that they heard on fox news or their local mega-church.  many of them were probably even busy slapping their kids or upholding the sanctity of their marriages in the neighbor's bed at the time, so you can imagine the difficulty in trying to remember verbatim what you're supposed to be outraged about, and why.

The gays stole my lunch money

[ Parent ]
Is this irony?
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil

Woe unto them that call hatred the love of christ...

Oh what fun these people are!

* Lucretia in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA writes, "I will no longer, ever, buy another Hallmark product, under any name, unless you pull these cards."

Under any name? How many aliases do you have Lucretia?

* Cathleen in Costa Mesa, CA writes, "I will not scandalize family members with cards mocking tradtional marriage . [It] is unnatural and not healthy for those individuals. That is not love."

Soooo, you won't be buying the "Congratulations on Marrying you Husband" card for little Mary's 5th birthday?

watashi no yomeiri wa doko desu ka

Added
I guess I'll have to go get little Mary's Happy 5th Birthday card from Night Secrets. Do you think she'd rather have the one with joke about elderly people and sex on their birthday, or the one with the naked man holding the cake saying "Make a wish?"

watashi no yomeiri wa doko desu ka

[ Parent ]
Superb.
I'm glad to know they've finally stopped murder, cured every disease, brokered world peace, fixed the economy, generated renewable energy, fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless, and generally made the world a better place.

Wait? They haven't? Well, seems like they might want to get their priorities, er, straight.

How would fundies function if they didn't have gay people to beat up on at every opportunity?

They would find someone else to beat up on
Who's next up on the totem pole...legal (note: not illegal) immigrants for invading a country founded on immigration? After all they bring many of the cultural traditions of their homeland with them and [sarcasm] we all know that's "anti-American".[/sarcasm]

[ Parent ]
Dear wingnuts:
Do you see us boycotting Hallmark over their MANY Christian-themed cards?  GET A FRICKIN' LIFE!!!

bwahahahahahahahahaha!
Sherrie in Carmichael, CA writes, "I have been collecting Precious Moments figurines for many years now. I won't be buying them from your stores anymore."

So where will she be buying them?
And aren't Hallmark stores franchises? So she'd be hurting the small business owner who is her neighbor, thereby eliminating a family's (and possibly multiple families) livelihood and decreasing local tax revenue when the store is forced out of business...all for 4 cards no one is forcing them to purchase or even really look at. Their logic totally escapes me.

[ Parent ]
Every time I think they can't get any more looney - they pull something like
this or the TV broadcasts a Palin speech.

I wonder if Barack would give her a position somewhere, simply to keep Tina Fey working.

Here's a thought...
She could be the Secretary of Nowhere.

[ Parent ]
Or how about
assigning her to Russia Watch? She can sit outside her house with a pair of binoculars and tell us when Putin rears his head into US airspace.

I wonder how that left comments against Hallmark

the audacity
This mentality always puzzles me:

* Kathy in Mission Viejo, CA writes, "You are putting the dollar over principle. How many cards will you sell to homosexuals vs. non homosexuals? Do the math!"

They always seem to think they speak for the entirety of heterosexuality.  As if all straight people agree with them.  Clearly Brad Pitt and Stephen Spielberg don't agree with them.  I doubt they are the only straight folks who support equality.
We gain support every day.  They're going to turn around and suddenly realize the entire country has moved on without them.  And they'll be so mad that they won't know what to do with themselves.
