The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Obama's Grandmother Has Died on the Eve of the Election

by: Julien Sharp

Mon Nov 03, 2008 at 16:50:57 PM EST

Madelyn Dunham (r).

Our sympathy to Barack Obama and his family. She must have been so proud of him.

We will post more information here as it becomes available.

PAM: Here's a statement from Obama and his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng:

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer.  She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility.  She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances.  She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring.  Our debt to her is beyond measure.

"Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time.  It brought our grandmother and us great comfort.  Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer."

You may recall what Barack Obama said about the influence of his grandmother at the Dem Convention:

And when I hear a woman talk about the difficulties of starting her own business, I think about my grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle-management, despite years of being passed over for promotions because she was a woman.  She's the one who taught me about hard work.  She's the one who put off buying a new car or a new dress for herself so that I could have a better life.  She poured everything she had into me.  And although she can no longer travel, I know that she's watching tonight, and that tonight is her night as well.

I don't know what kind of lives John McCain thinks that celebrities lead, but this has been mine.  These are my heroes.  Theirs are the stories that shaped me.  And it is on their behalf that I intend to win this election and keep our promise alive as President of the United States.Related:

Very sad.
My condolences to his family.

Very, very sad
Freeper comments, of course, are vile even by their standards.

Fortunately, it was pulled, I'll give them credit for that...

Sorry, I'd thought they had pulled the trend.
Nevermind.

Revolting
I wish there were a hell for the freepers to visit later on.

Classy Rethugs Still Running Hate Ads
Featuring Reverend Wright - lying, slandering, acting like the psuedo-Christians that they are. The ads simply smack of desperation and that would be pathetic at any time, but when the guy's grandmother just died? Please.

The first thing I thought of when I heard the news was "he's an orphan now." Parents, stepfather, and grandparents who raised him are all gone. I have not had that experience yet myself, thank God, but I remember my mother talking about how devastating it was. No matter how old or frail our parental figures get, they somehow seem there to protect us. To lose that, and on the eve of what should be the biggest night in his life, is just so sad.

The Key Comment
Perhaps the most telling comment on the Freepers site was this one:
What does it say about Obama that many many of us didn't believe for a moment that the woman was really at death's door.
That tells you everything you really need to know about the Freepers.

[ Parent ]
AP updated the story just a moment ago.
Madelyn Payne Dunham passed away late Sunday.

My sympathy to Barack. Maya, and Obama's family
It's so tragic to  come so close to seeing her grandson become president tomorrow.

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

~Heather Small

Sad to hear of any death
And the loss of a mother figure is specially tragic.  I lost my mother shortly after high school graduation when she was still in her late thirties and from what I've read Barrack was very close to her.  Perhaps he will be lifted in spirits by knowing that it was clearly her helping hand and excellent guidance that helped make his run for the Presidency a successful one.

I know I have an investment in the outcome.  Here's a couple pics I've been promising the liberal blogosphere for awhile now.  I definitely need to cross post over at Oliver Willis because he was quite pleased with the IMPEACH tag that predated the one you see on my Mazda below.

Pictures of my two vehicle custom car tags. These are not bumper stickers, easily removed after the election, should America shock and shame me by continuing a tortuous path through history by electing Grumpy Grampa and Bible Spice. I cannot abandon them in shame as easily as the old Kerry bumper stickers.

Unlike the purple stamp they brand you with at local bars (to show you've paid cover or have been carded), my license plates won't fade in a few days like that ephemeral tattoo and the fuzzy memories possibly associated with the abundant intake of liquors of various colors and delight.

Don't let me down here people!!! I don't want to drive around for the next year with what amounts to LOSER on the bumpers of both my vehicles. Even if you don't like Obama, you would still probably like me, and for that reason if no other, let's straight ticket vote PROGRESSIVE.

Enjoy.

Mom always told me I was special and I believed her.

Sorry timtimes...
Need the full link to see pic... from my Mac anyway. Will check back.

I'm Very Sorry to Hear This
I've been in the same position he's in many times in the past.  I can only imagine how hard it's going to be for Barack to "put on a happy face" when probably all he feels like doing is mourning.

I wonder if McCain and Company will finally issue condolences now?

Our condolences to the family
from my husband and me. I can't imagine how hard it is for Obama and his family to keep the campaigning going at this time of great sadness. I'm glad he took the time to see her one last time before her passing.

Again, our best wishes in this time of great sadness.

Barack Obama
and his family are in our thoughts and prayers. It's so sad that she passed away especially at this time.

Like Obama
My twin brother and I were raised by our grandmother for several years.

Her final wish was to see her twins together again one last time. That didn't happen. My brother didn't make it to her bedside in time (no fault of his own).

It is wonderful that Obama took the time to say goodbye to his grandmother. I was horrified when a member of the McCain campaign criticized him for it.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

how sad
just on the eve of the big day.  no matter the outcome she was very proud of him, i could tell through his talks about her.

i'm sure that when HE WINS the election a piece of her will be with him, and through the rest of his life.

hugs 4 obama!

Charley sez ---- Bat sh*t crazies amuse me!

i can't imagine such a loss
at this time.  the loss of a grand/parent is hard enough.  all the best to barack and family.

Lurleen on Twitter

Our best wishes as well
Not only did he go see her one last time, but he took his entire family this past year. That was no doubt very special for her and for the girls.

A very sad time for the family and all who care for them...

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

very sad
It's really sad losing someone like that.  I hope that after the election the family has a chance to grieve fully and privately.

Electricity's for light bulbs!

BTW, what time
does the live chat start tomorrow evening?

(As I write this, I just got a pop-up on Gmail from the Obama campaign... my goodness, how these folks have revolutionized the campaign processs and utilized technology to maximum efffect!)

don't cry....vote
We'll cry after

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

This is really unfortunate
So close to seeing something this momentous in her immediate family.

Cause any fool knows, a dog needs a home; a shelter from pigs on the wing

FOR BELIEVERS...
I am sure she is already perched on a bright fluffy cloud with balmy Hawaiian breezes watching every minute of the next days...and years. Thats how I always picture my mom up there rooting me on.  .... SO glad he got to see and spend the time with her that he recently did...that was in itself an acceptance and closure and allowed him to continue on to tomorrow..and through tomorrow.

Senator Obama,
I look forward to calling you President-elect Obama tomorrow night. I'm sad that your grandmother didn't have that opportunity. I can only imagine how proud she was of you and all you've achieved.

My condolences to you and your family on your loss.

Life's bittersweet moments...
I too am an "orphan" after losing my father two years ago.  He was my best friend, my confidant, and a beautiful man - both his spirit and physically.   I couldn't ever imagine not hearing his voice, but as he faded from dementia I knew the end was near.

As our plane neared the Las Vegas airport, to meet the connecting flight to Tucson, I felt him leave us.  The surrealism of sitting amongst the din of slot machines only served to increase my angst when unable to reach family.

The coroner's van pulled out prior to my arrival.  I was tired, hungry, and felt as if the "glue" holding my cells together had disappeared.  Even though dad had cheated death a few times, he rebounded in ways that confused his doctors.

I cannot imagine campaigning under these circumstances.  But, Obama's obtainable goal of the presidency has been his focus.  And I imagine that as with dad and I, goodbyes had been said.  That small amount of pragmatism and aversion to artifice was anathema to the effusiveness we shared.  Relationships devoid of bullsh*t make those goodbyes a little less devastating.

Bittersweet
If Hawaii has advance voting, I hope she was able to vote for her grandson.
