Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Silverton, Oregon, elects nation's first openly-transgender mayor

by: RadicalRuss

Fri Nov 07, 2008 at 14:24:01 PM EST

It's Friday and this hasn't been posted yet?  I held off because I was sure someone else (Autumn?) would've blogged this by now:
This election marked the first African-American President. The first time in 40 years an Oregon Senate candidate beat an incumbent Senator. And in tiny Silverton, Oregon, residents have elected the man who's believed to be the first ever openly transgender mayor in the United States.

Stu Rasmussen served two terms as the Mayor of Silverton in the 1990s. But he hadn't admitted to being transgender. He's not the same man now that he was then. Today he wears a skirt and high heels. He has breast implants, and long red hair. He looks like a woman - but he's not.

"I identify mostly as a heterosexual male," Rasmussen said. "But I just like to look like a female."

Rasmussen is a man. He even has a girlfriend. He says he's always been transgender, but he only "came out" a few years ago.

Now things get tricky, because Rasmussen was born male but looks female but identifies male, while other transgendered people I know were born male but look female but identify as female.  I'm all for everybody being themselves, but it sure makes communications with gender-specific pronouns a little difficult.  I sure don't want to offer an "excuse me, ma'am" or a "pardon me, sir" and have a 50/50 chance of offending.  I guess it's just the less-stuffy "excuse me" and "pardon me" from now on.

Ah, what would a story like this be without the wailing and gnashing of the Freepi...

Does anyone still honestly think that this country is salvageable?

I'll just say that I am so glad that I'm not in the Army anymore, because I just couldn't bring myself to put my life on the line for a populace that has become as sick, twisted, and ignorant as what we have today

I saw a news report on this-the "guy/girl" whatever the heck it is-
absolutely hideous! If a town elects this as Mayor then there is no doubt that it is over in this country--over.

A severe country whuppin' from the Almighty is what we REALLY need!

I see I'm not the first one to look at that pic and see Eric Idle in drag...but I am the first one apparently to bring up his line from "Nuns on the Run":  "You call this goin' straight?"

My husband just said Stu looks like Issac Newton.

The important question is...
...will the new mayor make sure that the streets are plowed in winter?

I beat you by about 30 seconds : -)
You must have been finishing up your story while I was posting a quick note about this on Terence's last post.

This is such a wonderful story.  MSNBC has a great interview with Mayor Rasmussen at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30...

It will make you laugh along and maybe get a little teary at the same time.

Welcome news!
Thanks for posting this.  We didn't get wind of it up here in WA yet either.

What I don't understand
Is there are all these people outraged about
Does anyone still honestly think that this country is salvageable?

and an email I got about how the wrath of god is going to befall this country because we have Obama as our president-elect.

If they are so angry about the way this country is heading (equality, fairness, and respect) then why don't they just pack up and leave? Or as I responded to the email, "Flee God's wrath and not look back lest you turn to a pillar of salt."

Congratulations, Mayor Rasmussen.

To answer the idiot's question
Yes, this country is salvageable.  The real question is, how much more fucking it up will Bush do while he has 73 days left to fuck it up more?

And that also reminds me, didn't the religious right say that if Obama is elected, than god is weaker than alah and the other gods.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

God bless the Freepi
They're always good for the amusement factor.

At what point does that site become a caricature of itself?

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly
# Shared, is -- Honor #

And he's even fiscally conservative
But since he is transgendered, the freepers throw out all the good qualities of Stu out the window.

If he identifies as male...
...then use the male pronoun. No trick about it.

The pronoun problem
When in doubt...ask.  A wild concept, I know, actually speaking to another human being, but give it a shot.

Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes

Of course, asking is proper
"Excuse me, would you prefer I address you as a man or a woman?"

Sure, that's not awkward.  ;-)

It was just a joke.  I'm not that uptight.

I've come a long way
after 2 1/2 years of blogging.  I never fully understood about the T in LGBTQ until I met a few trans people via blogging.  But this is the first time I've run across this scenario.

I just look at the photo though, and tell myself, no big deal.  It's a guy.  He has some pretty wild hair.  So do I.
And he's got boobs.  Well, I've seen plenty of guys who have some rather large ones, unintentionally, so why does it matter if this guy has some intentionally, and maybe they are a bit larger than the unintentional ones.  So what?

He has different taste in clothes than I do.  So do a lot of people.  When I break it down like this, it's really no big deal.

But what really fascinates me are the relationships which I never seem to read much about...and that's probably because their private, but I'd love to get a perspective from his girlfriend, just to round out the picture.

My first thought was, I wonder if she considers herself a leasbian, and then I caught myself about a second later thinking, that's stupid... she's with a guy who is male and identifies as male.

I don't think the freepi like to think very much.  They just like to react harshly to anything that doesn't fit their mold.

That's clearly not natural
I've never seen a 60-year-old person with that much red hair without a hint of grey.

ummmm
Is the new mayor a Victoria Secret model as well?

I'm a little turned off by a mayor releasing headshots of herself in undergarments - but it does make me want to know about the town that elected her (is it an Oregon nudest colony?).

Duh!
Sheesh, haven't you ever done drag?  That's a black evening gown with spaghetti shoulder straps, sweetie.  Not underwear.

Interesting....
I have only known a FTM...fully changed, full beard. He was able to marry his prior female partner..and they adopted two children.  Now divorced, primarily due to his reduced earnings potential.  Good luck to all..sounds like a good place.

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

Um...er...could we have a little perspective?
A severe country whuppin' from the Almighty is what we REALLY need!

I think that's what we've been getting for the past eight years.  The election of one trans mayor, even if you're benighted enough to think of it as evil, hardly counterbalances the apocalyptic evil we've all been living with.
