The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Your Guide to the Coming Republican Civil War

by: JulieWaters

Tue Nov 11, 2008 at 15:35:54 PM EST

Many of you have heard reports about the coming Republican Civil War, which I will henceforth be referred to as THE WAR TO END ALL REPUBLICANS ("WEAR," for short)

But most of this has been discussed merely as a split between the camps of John Sidney McCain and Sarah Louise Heath Palin, specifically focusing on matters of the approach to the campaign.

But, in reality, there are several factions competing for the "soul" of the Republican Party, or at least the closest thing to a soul the party could dig out of a deep, dark, recess that's best not described in polite company.

So I've written up this handy little guide to help us all better understand who the various factions in the Republican party are, and what sides we can expect them to be taking in the upcoming WEAR.

JulieWaters :: Your Guide to the Coming Republican Civil War
First, let's start with the obvious broad categories:

BIG BUSINESS

Their likes are deregulation, tax breaks for the wealthy, making a lot of money no matter who or what it hurts, complete lack of accountability and offshore accounts to hide certain kinds of profits from the IRS.

Their dislikes are corporate responsibility, people who write them letters and anyone who attempts to regulate any aspect of their business.

They favor Republicans because Republicans are eager and willing to take large donations and, in turn, just sort of look the other way when they, I dunno, don't bother paying taxes on public property for forty years.

RELIGIOUS/"FAMILY VALUES" NUTCASES

Their likes are smug superiority, people like them, amendments banning same-sex marriage, the death penalty, gays who attack other gays and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Their dislikes are gays, Muslims, people who look like Muslims, people who aren't like them, people who dare to criticize them, elitists, vegetarians, Wiccans, abortion, people who are sane Christians, people who act too Jewish, gay or catholic.

They favor Republicans because they think Republicans will eventually overturn Roe v Wade and because Republicans pretend to like them in exchange for their support.

WARMONGERS/NEOCONS

Their likes are war, violence, and anything which makes them think America is superior.

Their dislikes are France, Europe, France, any country that's not the United States, France, Canada, and peacenicks.

Their likes are anyone who likes war as much as they do, especially if they're dark-skinned enough and crazy-sounding enough to justify us going to war with them.  This means you, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

They like Republicans because Republicans are consistently thrilled to talk up war and violence, even when it's not in their best interest to do so.

LIBERTARIANS/ANTI-TAX NUTCASES

Libertarians like very small government and freedom.  They hate excessive spending, big government and waste.

It is often unclear as to why they like Republicans.

RACISTS

Their likes are people who look like them and anyone who helps them justify their bigotry.  Their dislikes are everyone else.

They like republicans because Republicans make them think they're not really racist.

USEFUL IDIOTS

Their likes are people who say the right kind of thing, regardless of their actions.  Their dislikes are anyone who tries to correct their understanding of the world.

They like Republicans because they use catchy buzzwords and because they are idiots.

There are, of course, other categories we could discuss, but these will serve as basic categories for the discussion.  There are plenty of people who overlap in this group.  John McCain, for example, would fall into the Warmonger category, but he'd also fit directly in with Big Business.  Many of his supporters fall into those categories as well as the Useful Idiot category because he can talk a good game about veterans issues, but actually does very poorly with them.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, fits in easily with Religious Nutcases, Racists and Useful Idiots.  In fact, assume that everyone I mention here includes that last group in some capacity from this point on.  I'll focus instead on the other two: she's loved by religious nutcases because she is one and she's loved by racists because she gave them so much great rhetoric during the campaign so as to make them think that their racism and xenophobia was, on some level, acceptable.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, is all Big Business and Family Values.  My suspicion about Romney is that he is less someone with convictions then someone who was so sure that he needed to say certain things to get elected that he's actually convinced himself that he believes them.  But he's got a strong base of support, just not strong enough that he didn't need to fund his own campaign with a whole lot of his own money.

But how about Mike Huckabee?  He's clearly loved by the Religious Nutcases but seems to be anti-racism, at least in his rhetoric.  He's hated by big business but somewhat in the libertarian category, except he believes in universal education.  In other words, one of the popular Republican candidates has some campaign issues more in favor with Democrats than Republicans.

Which brings us to Ron Paul, who represents an entirely different aspect of the Republican party, with the vast majority of his support coming from Libertarians and Racists, and definitely not the religious nutcases nor the warmongers.

With the exception of John McCain, there is a good possibility that all these individuals will be running for President in 2012 and this is where the WEAR comes in.

There are lots of rumors spreading about what happened behind the scenes in the McCain/Palin campaign, which helps set the stage for the upcoming battle.  I.e., Romney camp spreading Palin stories?, Palin aide strikes back at McCain camp, etc.  Most of you have seen much of this, so I won't bother reiterating.

But this is the basic dynamic: people from the Romney, McCain and Palin factions seem to really have it in for one another.  Romney's appeal to the Family Values nutcases is damaged by the fact that he's a Mormon and most Family Values nutcases don't like anyone who's not a Christian (or, at the very least, an acceptably conservative Jew) and most assuredly do not think of Mormonism as "Christian."  McCain's people pretty much hate Romney and now they seem to really hate Palin.  They blame her for having hurt McCain's chances and being an all around crappy candidate and for "going rogue" from time to time.  And then there's the whole Palin/underwear thing (which has nothing to do with Romney).

But the real gold here is that this scatters those categories I listed above.  Libertarians are already finding problems with the Republican party, which has largely increased spending during their tenure and made government a lot bigger (and a lot more anti-freedom).  Big Business will support anyone who helps them out, and turning the economy into a great big sinkhole really doesn't help big business all that much.

The religious nutcases are now split, with some going to Obama and most still preferring Republicans but willing to sit the election out if someone who's not sufficiently evangelical gets nominated.  Granted, there are still plenty of racists, and they probably (if possible) like the Republicans a little more than they used to, but probably think of them as weak little sissies if they cooperate on Obama with anything.

So most of what's left for Republicans are useful idiots.  And the great thing about useful idiots is that they're stupid enough to start chasing each other around with baseball bats rather than us.  So when big business starts blaming religious nutcases and religious nutcases start blaming warmongers and warmongers start blaming libertarians who, in turn, blame everybody, well, hijinx ensue.

To me, this is going to be sort of like "Glengarry Glen Ross" crossed with a Keystone Cops movie.

Grab your popcorn, folks.  This is going to be fun.

I can simplify it for you
Starting with the Southern Strategy the party has become the the party of Straight White Men, and this was a winning tactic for a generation - straight while men having run the country from its beginning.

The problem occurs because it's "base" absolutely hates blacks, gays, hispanics, muslims, feminists.... hell - everybody else.

So the Democrats have become the default party for "everyone else" who feel unwanted by the Repubs.

Now the demographics of the US are changing and Straight White Men are no longer the majority and their proportion of the population will continue to decline.

And although the very few remaining "wise heads" in the party realize that their days are numbered unless they diversify and try to bring others into the party "coalition", the "base" simply won't allow it.

Who can they bring in ?

Gays ?
Hispanics ?
Blacks ?
Muslims ?
Atheists ?
Feminists ?

They are stuck with their dwindling hard core 30 % that hate everyone else, and any attempt they make to broaden their base causes that hard core to revolt.

Thus McCain picking Palin, against his wishes.

They have totally screwed themselves demographically, and it couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of assholes.

Don't sleep on straight white men
Straight white men have never, ever, in the history of any society, been the majority.  Human biology determines that 51 percent of any population is going to be female, yet men almost universally accede to power.  Always, always watch out for the straight white man, he is a crafty bastard.

where do the gay republicans go in?
Libertarians or Useful idiots?

They're also pro-plutocrat
and some are warmongers and/or racists, if you're talking about the Log Cabin Republicans.

The closet cases are Religious Right.

[ Parent ]
What makes you a Republican?
I mean this in all seriousness.  I have some consevative beliefs, but most of mine are more progressive.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

[ Parent ]
Why am I still there in the party?
I find their foreign policy more proper than the typical democratic party foreign policy.

Pro-Israel

Pro-Emerging democratic nation like Georgia and the eastern bloc nations

But the Bush administration basically made me disgusted to be a Republican, aka, marriage amendment hype in 2004, the botched Iraq war, the lack of fiscal accountability during the mortgage crisis.

I basically could say I am a Joe Lieberman if I was a Democratic party member.

[ Parent ]
Pro-Israel,
That is the only thing I have.  Although President Elect Obama has said he would Support Israel as well.  Foreign Policy, the right have me scared to death.  I agreed with going after Bin Ladin and supported that effort and still do.  The religous right, Bush included, tried to make the wars a Holy War between the Christians and the Muslims.  That scares me big time.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

[ Parent ]
And now the Religious Reich has learned from that...
and carried on that great warmonger tradition - with US!

How is the Democratic part anti-Israel?

And if the GOP position on Israel were the stronger one, why do American Jews consistently vote over and over in large majorities for the Democratic presidents?  Are you saying we're all stupid deceived Israel-haters?

What's the Republican CW?
I didn't post a comment over at Big Orange, because I felt it would be lost in the mob, but I'll ask here.

I'd say the Left Bloglandia conventional wisdom is that Big Business (the people for whose benefit the GOP is run) and the Religious Right (the footsoldiers) are the most important factions in WEAR. I don't spend much time in Right Bloglandia (the neurons! they don't grow back!), but I don't get the impression that they acknowledge Big Business as such: everyone on the Right claims to be 4-square for Capitalism Uber Alles, so I'm not sure they notice where the real capitalists are.

I don't know to what extent there's a fundamental difference between Big Business and the anti-Tax/Libertarian faction, because the latter always seem to want to be Big Business when they grow up. I also don't know to what extent they're even conscious that the flip side of "small government" is "big business".

The biggest lie Republicans tell
is that they are "capitalists".  Republicans aren't any more free market these days than Stalinists, the only difference being state control of production versus megalithic corporations.  The current incarnation of the Republican party believes in consolodation of wealth, which is antithetical to free market capitalism.

Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes

It depends IMHO on what they're conserving
The important thing about conservatives is that they want to maintain the status quo, they want to conserve something. The trouble with the modern world for them is that they can't conserve everything: change is inevitable (and to them frightening), so they have to pick their axis of no-change.

Since we're talking about politics, it's about conserving power, and each of these groups is trying to conserve a particular hierarchy of power.

Big Business: the supremacy of big business, of money in general.

Religious Right: has become mostly about preserving a gender hierarchy (male over female, straight over gay), but also Christian over non-.

Warmongers: physical/military might makes right.

Libertarians: the most complex set of motivations, in a way. They're less interested in a hierarchy, more interested in not having to help anyone else. They're people (usually white & male) toward the top of the heap who hate to even acknowledge that there's a heap.

Racists: conservee the hierarchy of race, duh.

Useful idiots: bootlickers who like hierarchy and authority in general.

Secret Ninja Powers.
Dobsonites believe that gays have secret ninja powers which they will use to take over the world.  Don't hop in the same boat and think that just because the leaders of the Republican party are evil (and they are) that their followers are evil ON PURPOSE.  No conservative I know wakes up in the morning and thinks, "Man, I can't wait to surrender our natural resources to be raped, our children to be indoctrinated by fools, and promote multinational mega-corporations!"

The rank and file:
They support big business because they believe that is the key to prosperity.
They support so called "family values" because they really want their kids to turn out OK.
They support war because they believe it makes us safer.
They support libertarian ideals (when they do) because they think it makes the word a better place.
They support racists because they think it really is better if every race and nationality keeps to it self

The Senior leaders us these universal drives to manipulate people into supporting really stupid ideas.

But, honestly, conservatives don't believe these things because they are evil, they believe evil things because they are horribly misguided.

The Republican party is falling apart because it has no really unique values. The Democrats and Republicans both support enormous redistributions of wealth.  The Democrats want to tax companies and give it to the poor and middle class.  The Republicans want to tax the poor and give it to the middle class and companies.  But neither can really say that it supports people paying there own way, they just want the hand out to go different places.

Realistically, we have single party system with the Democrats and Republicans as the left and right.  A review of actual policy (rather than rhetoric) will reveal that there is almost no difference between what the Dems and the Repubs actually DO.  Abortion is about it.  The Dem are as divided on the issues of gun control and so called "gay rights"  (I say so called 'cuz there is no such things as gay rights. Only, human rights and some humans are gay.)

Republican's bitch about welfare spending, but keep giving tax breaks to the rich.  I mean obviously, if the government needs more money (ie too much on welfare) then making the rich pay the taxes they are supposed to would be a good start.

Democrats complain the Repubs spend to much on the military, but don't step back military involvement proportionally to their cuts.  The slice stays the same size and pie gets smaller.

Neither party has any interest in solutions.  Or even in the transparency that makes solutions easier.

We have a horrible poverty problem in the richest country on earth!  Yes the Reps try to cut social spending every time. But the Dems don't bother to make the spending cost effective (25% of the cost of social security, for instance, is fraud.)

The great thing about all this is when the Repubs ether die or reinvent, the new party will push the complacent Dems to reform as well.  Maybe we'll end up with something really great this time around.

The religious base is divided, this is going to kill the Republican Party,
The Hard Core religious right have grabbed the Republican Party by the Balls, and they are not letting go.

 Autumn Posted this,
Catholic bishops plan to forcefully confront Obama

America's Roman Catholic bishops, long one of the leading political forces against abortion, vowed on Tuesday to accept no compromise for the sake of unity until there is legal protection for the unborn.
About 300 prelates gathered here for their national meeting adopted a formal blessing for a child in the womb and advised Chicago's Cardinal Francis George as he drafted a post-election letter to America's Catholics. The moves were meant to tell the incoming Obama administration, which supports keeping abortion legal, that the nation's Catholic bishops are stepping up their opposition to abortion.

"This is not a matter of political compromise or a matter of finding some way of common ground," said Bishop Daniel Conlon of Steubenville, Ohio. "It's a matter of absolutes. Either you didn't have slavery or you did have slavery. So it is with abortion."

This alone will keep voters from hopping over to the republican party.  Christians are becoming more divided over LGBT rights and Abortion.  The Republican party has become the party of the Right Wing Christians and the Hate Mongers of the KKK types.  That is there base and there is no compromise, none.

It is going to be fun to watch.  And the Fun is going to be watching what few republican senators and represtatives will stand in the way of President Obama to keep the vote of the right wingers.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Sign me up as a Warmonger
I'm as bad in that regard as another Warmonger, Winston Churchill. And FDR for that matter.

There is no situation so complex it can't get even worse

FDR and Churchill
Having read many histories of the war and biographies of both men, and currently reading Chester Wolmot's classic The Struggle for Europe, I beg to differ.  Neither FDR nor Churchill was a war monger.  Both clearly saw the terrible costs of war but also saw the growing threat of Nazi Germany (and Japan) and worked to educate and alert their countries.  They were war leaders, not war mongers.

Quote In Point:
One day President Roosevelt told me that he was asking publicly for suggestions about what the war should be called. I said at once 'The Unnecessary War'.

One quote doesn't mean squat, especially out of context
I've read many dozens of books about WW II, FDR and Churchill. Try Troublesome Young Men for a recent choice.  Churchill wasn't a war-mongers, he was keenly alert to the growing threat of Germany that his countrymen and fellow politicians were eager to ignore.

Split
I've been saying this for the longest time - the current republican party will eventually split.

Either the oldschool republicans will move over to the democrats (as they have been doing), or there will be a reformed republican party which basically tells the "christian" kooks to buzz off and build their own clubhouse.

I know some true oldschool republicans, and they're horrified at their party being hijacked by dick-crazed bible thumpers with such a low IQ, they can't stop getting caught doing the same sexual things they're condemning.  If those guys aren't yapping at homosex, they're busy doing what they're obsessed about.  And the "John Wayne" type republicans are sick of that BS.

One question remains to be answered then:
Are they sick enough of that BS?

Three parties
- Democratic

- Republican

- Christian Conservative

When the Christian conservatives have their own party, many right-leaning Democrats who don't share their religious views will move over to the GOP. The Democrats will have a majority for a few years until the GOP divorces itself from social conservatism and returns to their core values.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

- Abraham Lincoln.

[ Parent ]
I believe you are 100% correct,
The democrats will get the energy problems on the road to being greener, get the country on its way to being out of debt.  The Crazy Christians will get tossed, and the GOP just might make a difference, if they get the hate the gays and womb control freaks out.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Did you get the names right?
I thought the 3 Parties are;

Democratic,

Republican,

Talibangelist .
