Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Death in Suffolk County

by: Governor David A Paterson

Thu Nov 13, 2008 at 13:46:28 PM EST

( - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

Today, I ask New Yorkers and all Americans to join me in mourning the death of Marcello Lucero, a Hispanic man of Ecuadorian descent who was the fatal victim of a vicious hate crime over the weekend in Suffolk County. This disgraceful act should serve as a source of outrage for all of us.

Suffolk Police tell us that Mr. Lucero and a friend were attacked late Saturday night by seven teenagers who were driving around looking for a Hispanic to beat up. The companion walking with Mr. Lucero escaped, but Mr. Lucero was stabbed to death. This senseless and cowardly attack by these teenagers cannot stand. I am directing State law enforcement agencies to assist Suffolk County officials in any way possible to ensure swift and certain justice for this heinous crime. Our State has zero tolerance for such bigotry and I urge authorities to move quickly to prosecute the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law.

Today, I ask that you offer your prayers to Mr. Lucero's family. I would like to extend my deepest condolences as they come to the terms with the enormous pain of this loss. Mr. Lucero's death is a jarring reminder that we must remain vigilant and continue our fight to eradicate prejudice in our words and in our actions.

NOTE FROM PAM (left, Marcello Lucero): Again we are graced with another post from the governor of New York. Many thanks for taking the time to stop by the Blend, Governor Paterson. Here are some background stories on the case from Long Island's Newsday.

* Speakers denounce attack on immigrant, urge tolerance
* Mother mourns Patchogue stabbing victim
* Lawyers for teenagers charged in bias attack speak out
* Hate-crime death highlights racial tensions in Suffolk

So Sad
I am from NYC and for the last 100 years everyone from my sister to great-grandfather have been NYPD.  My Dad, after 20 years in NYPD, became a Suffolk County Detective Investigator where he stayed for another 20+ years.

When he first moved out there it was like going to Middle-America.  Nothing but the occasional strip mall to interrupt farmland.

I mention this because he moved out there and put his life on the line everyday to defend it because it WASN'T NYC.  He had had enough of the intense violence (he was an NYPD Homicide Detective).  To hear news like this makes me sad.

What is happening in the world?  I am the big 'ol dyke child and that concerned my Dad because he feared for my safety from a Cop and Father perspective.  Yet, today, we are seeing senseless violence against so many people.  Gay, Non-White, etc.

IT REALLY MUST END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I HAVE HAD E-F**CKING-NOUGH!

Besser ein ende mit Schrecken als ein Schrecken ohne ende

Absolute insanity.
Why can't we raise people not to hate people who are different?

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly
# Shared, is -- Honor #

A fair question.
I cannot imagine what part of a person's humanity must be damaged or flawed to commit acts like this.

Gee, anyone think...
There might be a link to the violence on television??  That has been proven so many times it is not worth studying anymore.... and of course those perfelct "FAMILY VALUES" we need to protect.

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters
...All over this Land.

Americans
have been hating and actively persecuting "the other" since the time of the Puritans.  It's a long standing tradition here (a traditional value?) like apple pie or dancing with your mother.

I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights.  -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

[ Parent ]
It isn't just Americans
All civilizations have had those who put down "the other." Sometimes it's with the support of the state, sometimes not.

[ Parent ]
But you have to admit...
Maybe it's just short term vision, or the fact that history is written by the victors, but American version of the other seems to have a certain... flair for the macabre, and we JUSTIFY "othering" with pseudoscience and pseudophilosophy that tends to stick, even among people who are not actively participating.

It's the institutional othering that is a nasty American legacy.

too much
I donated to SPLC some time back in support of prosecution in the Jordan Gruver case, which is in trial now.  This Long Island story is every bit as much an indication that the media and many communities are on the wrong road with regard to immigrants.   The Christian community most of all should be reaching out in reasonable compassion and seeking ways to integrate our Hemisphere.  Hate rhetoric leads to hate crimes against Hispanics, just  as it does with the Gay community.

hurt my heart
My prayers go out to his loved ones

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

~Heather Small

Ditto that
I hope whoever is found responsible get's exactly what's coming to them...times 10!

Heartbreaking
And outrageous.  Though many members of our community find themselves the target of ignorance and hatred, we have to remember that other communities suffer bias-based violence as well.

Education is a step along the way - and progress has been made.  Thank heavens that today's youth don't see gender, sexual orientation or race the way our parents or grandparents did.

But beyond that, hate crime legislation needs to be comprehensive and enforceable.  At their very basest level, all attacks one to another are reprehensible.  But when innocent people are targeted merely for the color of their skin, nation of origin, religion or sexual identity - an additional element of premeditation or bias is added.  We must establish and enforce anti-hate laws and make examples of those who perpetrate them to say "this is no longer acceptable in America."

Governor, I thank you for your attention to this issue and for bringing it to our forum.  My thoughts and prayers are with this poor young man and his family and friends.

I appreciate your vigilance and willingness to punish such crimes as appropriate.

Thanks for your continued presence here on Pam's site.  You rock. :)

Yes, let's continue to be ineffectual
Prayers?  Persecution?  Why don't we just make chicken sacrifices or sprinkle holy water on the highway?  It wouldn't be any less effective than the solutions proposed.

The east end of Long Island, in spite of its close-to-NYC cachet, is not much different from any other area with third-rate education and backward choices for kids trying to figure out who they are and that they want to be.  It's like Manhattan 40 years ago or other major cities 20 years ago.

While it will make everyone feel real good to throw the book at the kids who committed this despicable act, it does absolutely nothing to prevent future atrocities.  No one is making the connection between the failures of our society and our economic policies.

In this context, we should ask our governor why he has proposed massive cuts in education and social programs this week.  Hundreds of billions of welfare for the obscenely wealthy; regular folks are just disposable.  People who feel disposable do a lot of fucked up things.  I guess vicious hate crimes are just too complicated to understand.
