The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Log Cabin President Patrick Sammon Announces Departure

National Board Conducting Search for Replacement

(Washington, DC)—Log Cabin President Patrick Sammon will be leaving his position early next year.  "After five years at this organization and more than two years leading Log Cabin, I am ready to tackle new challenges.  I'll be doing documentary filmmaking, which is what I did before joining Log Cabin's staff," said Sammon.  "I told Log Cabin's national board earlier this year I would be moving on after the election.  I'm proud of the progress we've made and I know Log Cabin is well positioned to impact the GOP's future direction."

"We thank Patrick for the excellent job he has done as President," said Log Cabin National Board Chairman Pete Kingma.  "His communication ability and political skills served the organization very well."

Log Cabin's Board of Directors has started a national search process.  "After Patrick's strong leadership, we are confident we'll find an excellent candidate to lead Log Cabin Republicans and the Liberty Education Forum," said Kingma.

Sammon will stay in his position until the end of January.  "With the election behind us, it's a good time to make a transition," said Sammon.  "I have put my heart and soul into this organization and I am proud of our achievements."

More below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: Sammon steps down from Log Cabin Republicans

  • In a tough election year, 75% of Log Cabin's endorsed House and Senate candidates won re-election as the organization provided more financial support than ever before to our congressional allies.
  • Under Sammon's leadership, Log Cabin built close ties with Sen. John McCain's campaign and had a strong presence at the 2008 GOP Convention.  "Sen. McCain's inclusive campaign was an important step forward as we educate GOP voters about the importance of fairness and freedom for gay and lesbian people," said Sammon.
  • During the GOP presidential primaries, Log Cabin stood up to Gov. Mitt Romney's use of gay and lesbian families as a wedge issue.  Our television and radio ad campaigns in Iowa and New Hampshire educated Republican voters about Gov. Romney's real record.  "We're glad our Party nominated a candidate Log Cabin could proudly support," said Sammon.
  • Log Cabin helped secure 35 Republican House votes on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.  Their votes provided the margin of victory.
  • Sammon expanded Log Cabin's work on HIV/AIDS issues with the addition of Dr. David Reznik as a health policy advisor.
  • Log Cabin built strong ties to New York GOP state lawmakers.  In the Assembly, the organization helped gain unprecedented bi-partisan support on a marriage equality bill.  Log Cabin also built close ties with inclusive GOP State Senators, whose votes will be needed to bring marriage equality to the Empire State.
  • Log Cabin's "Republicans Against 8" campaign helped secure GOP opposition to California's marriage amendment.  Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his opposition to Proposition 8 at Log Cabin's national convention in April.  "It is deeply saddening that Proposition 8 passed, but I'm proud of our work in gaining GOP allies to oppose the measure," said Sammon.

"I thank all Log Cabin members who provided generous support for our work.  I'm grateful for your commitment to this organization," said Sammon. "I will continue assisting in any way I can to advance Log Cabin's mission."

"Log Cabin has a huge opportunity to influence the Republican Party's renewal in the months and years ahead," said Kingma.  "The GOP's brand is severely damaged.  Log Cabin will be an important part of the effort to revive our Party with a unifying philosophy that brings people together around inclusive GOP values instead of wedge issue politics," said Kingma.

I'll bet his leaving won't make them any more sane
They'll just go right on screwing the community by continuing to vote against their own interests and advocate for those who would oppress us all.

Okay, sure, whatever.

Yeah. I can't wait to see who does replace Sammon -- It's going to be taking a job where no doubt three out of four LGBT people are going to think you're an idiot for taking the job.

Stepping Down
Oh BS - Patrick is stepping down because he allowed LCR to stoop to the level of "Gay Patriot" (with LCR calling GLBT non-McCain voters "the gay left" - which is supposed to be an insult).

The mission of log cabin should be like their New York chapter
The goal is to recruit gay friendly candidates to run for the state legislatures and start small that way. I would like to see their California chapter to recruit candidates in centrist friendly districts and get allies in the Republican Party. How LCR ran their efforts in 2008 was abysmal.

From Washington Blade
Same story: http://washblade.com/bladewire...

But I'd like to point out this bit from the Blade's story:

Sammon's departure comes following two national elections that battered Republicans, ousting many of the party's more moderate members from Congress. The few new GOP members of Congress have not supported gay issues.

All 14 freshmen House Republicans ranked in this year's Human Rights Campaign Congressional Scorecard received zero scores. Three freshmen Senate Republicans also received zero scores; freshmen Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee scored 20 of 100.

Is it okay to say, "Way To Go There, Sammy!"

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

For some reason
"...I'll be doing documentary filmmaking, which is what I did before joining Log Cabin's staff," said Sammon.

I can't help but be morbidly curious what the outcome of that will be.

BREAKING: Hillary possible Sec of State
Per Andrea Mitchell on NBC Nightly News, one minute ago.

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

The Obama administration is shaping up
to look more and more like the Clinton administration.  For us gay folks, that ain't good.

No idea.
That was more directed at the LCR than anyone else.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about where he goes or who he works with.

[ Parent ]
This is a serious comment
I had to preface this with that title - and I mean it.

If LCR really wants to have an impact, do something symbolic, yet substantive: shut down.

Seriously.

Now, personally, I wouldn't care if it ever came back but I'm guessing that the Log Cabin-oids do.  But, for - say - one election cycle (at least through the mid-term election), just shut down.

Of course, part of the plan would be to make it clear why this is being done: that what's left of the Republican Party has become the party not of Lincoln, and not even of big business, but of christianist neo-McCarthyites.

And Log Cabin-oids have never been good at acknowledging reality.  If they were, they'd have implemented this shut down in 2000.

>^..^<

Agreed
Log Cabin has failed to help influence the national party. Log Cabin needs to stop helping federal offices such as president or congress.

Log Cabin needs to focus on state and local efforts. Build an inclusive farm team to get quality congress members in the next five to ten years.

Save all that money they burn up for congress races to state races.

Well, if I were single and would meet good-looking guys there, I would :0)

I will take the job, I swear I will. If they let me.
What a better organization to be in control of, They have Money and not a lot of brains.  Talk them in to supporting the other candidate as a ploy.  The entire republican would follow the lead of the LCR.  I would even get the Peter Donating to Tammy baldwin's re-election campaign.

I mean after all, the LCRs are know to vote for their civil rights.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

New Job For Pam?
I have it on good information that blog-master Scott has also left the employ of the LC, apparently out of disgust.  A great opportunity to work in D.C.

New Texas Repulican Party Platform
Marriage Licenses - We support legislation that would make it a felony to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple and for any civil official to
perform a marriage ceremony for such.

Homosexuality - We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and
leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been
ordained by God, recognized by our country's founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an
acceptable "alternative" lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should "family" be redefined to include homosexual "couples." We are
opposed to any granting of special legal entitlements, refuse to recognize, or grant special privileges including, but not limited to: marriage between
persons of the same sex (regardless of state of origin), custody of children by homosexuals, homosexual partner insurance or retirement benefits.
We oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values

Texas Sodomy Statutes - We oppose the legalization of sodomy. We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution
to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.

Nuff Said

He was leaving anyway
I work with a friend of Patrick's here in DC, and the scoop I heard, before the election, was that he was planning to leave anyway - and in private, told his friends that leading the LCR is, just as Pam noted, a thankless job with little reward.

I like what was noted by "mmunson" that the LCR would be entirely more effective if it championed gay-friendly Republicans and ignored the rest.  That way, when and if the LCR endorsed a Presidential candidate, it would actually be NEWS, and would not induce the kind of eye-rolling that the McCain endorsement elicited.

Hopefully, their next leader will be smart enough to realize that.
