The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

What The LDS Prophet Told The Mormons About The "Protect Marriage"/Yes On Prop 8 Campaign

by: Autumn Sandeen

Sat Nov 15, 2008 at 09:00:00 AM EST

This is very much related to Pam's How the well-oiled Mormon machine helped pass Prop 8. Her's was the "how" Mormons helped the Yes On Prop 8 Campaign -- this post, in part, is part of the "what" of what the Mormon leadership told their members.
~~Autumn~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We all should keep in mind exactly what the LDS First Presidency (The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints Prophet Thomas S. Monson and two counselors) said regarding LDS membership participation in the Yes On Prop 8 Campaign. Remember the deceitful ads linking a No On Prop 8 vote to harming California's Children? ...
The LDS First Presidency said to support that campaign. Looking at what the LDS First Presidency said in their press release should be mandatory for LGBT Californians; The LDS Church told all their members that they should "do all [they] can" to support Prop 8. From the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints August 8, 2008 press release:
The California Supreme Court recently ruled that same-sex marriage was legal in California. Recognizing the importance of marriage to society, the Church accepted an invitation to participate in ProtectMarriage, a coalition of churches, organizations, and individuals sponsoring a November ballot measure, Proposition 8, that would amend the California state constitution to ensure that only a marriage between a man and a woman would be legally recognized. (Information about the coalition can be found at http://www.protectmarriage.com/).
On June 20, 2008, the First Presidency of the Church distributed a letter about "Preserving Traditional Marriage and Strengthening Families," announcing the Church's participation with the coalition. The letter, which was read in Latter-day Saints' church services in California, asked that Church members "do all [they] can to support the proposed constitutional amendment."
And in their October 8, 2008 press release, the LDS Church encouraged their Californian members to make phone calls on behalf of the Yes On Prop 8 Campaign:
This was not an uninvolved Church that deserves to have it's politics left unquestioned. The LDS Prophet -- their Prophet -- heavily promoted the deceitful campaign that had a "win at all costs" attitude. The LDS Church itself -- at the aboslute highest level of their Prophet -- emersed themselves into the campaign. They don't have clean hands. They should have been prepared for the backlash of having supported such a deceitful campaign that removed a segment of the California populace of fundamental civil rights.
What must always keep in mind, Pam --
is that the LDS doesn't simply consider us to be "sinners" the way ordinary, everyday Fundies do. According to Mormon theology we are LITERAL MANIFESTATIONS OF SATAN.
No, I am not making this up. This is what they believe and this is why they poured a fortune into Prop 8.
The upside is how great gay ex-Mormons are. Duncan Lance Black, screenwriter of the Beyond fabulous Milk is a "recovered Mormon." And so is a buddiung young gay filmmaker named Taylor Greeson, whose new feature Meadowlark is a must-see.
I'm a recovering Mormon too.
I was an active Mormon for about a year and a half in the early eighties.
Sent in my request to be removed from the church roles about 2 years ago, telling them my name was Autumn now, and I'm trans. They consitantly called my male name during corespondence regarding my removal from the roles, and consistantly used male pronouns. I remember those letters with a lot of bitter feelings as not respecting me as a person...as a human.
Wow, Autumn
I bet the priesthood holders couldn't understand why you'd give up your priesthood privilege and become a woman. There would have been a time when I wouldn't have understood either, because I was envious of the men for having the priesthood. But times change and people do too. Now I see nothing of value in the priesthood. People do not need a special laying on of hands to do good to others. All we have to do is just get up and DO IT.
[ Parent ]
Not respecting you as a person or as a human... it is what the LDS does best
I have had my own dealings with the Mormon Church. Dehumanizing others seems to be a cornerstone of their doctrine.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.
[ Parent ]
To be fair, not all Mormon individuals believe this
The LDS hierarchy does not speak for all Mormons. Rank and file Mormons who may know and respect LGBTs at work or school or in the neighborhood rarely talk about this in the LDS community, though.
[ Parent ]
Yes, individuals differ. But...
Silence = complicity.
When the rank-and-file does not speak out, they are no different from the leadership. If retaining membership is more important than standing for basic human rights, then they are just as much the enemy as the First Presidency and the Quorum of Twelve, regardless of what they might privately believe.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.
one thing we have to consider (and they will keep bringing this up)
is that churches are allowed to preach on issues and encourage their congregations to vote a certain way on these issues.  What they're not allowed to do is endorse candidates or funnel church money into political campaigns - even on the issues they're permitted to speak about.  This is where the LDS (and possibly some other churches) may have crossed the line legally, especially if they allowed contributions to a political cause to count in any way towards a church tithe.
This is not a 30-day, short attention span issue.
Six months from now, a year from now, five years from now, we need to be fighting the LDS "church". Their "living prophet" surprised us, this time, and we can never be surprised again!. We lost a battle in California. California! Okay, so the war goes on, but, jeez, California...(I accept my share of the blame, I spent all my time and energy this election cycle in Reno, NV. I counted too much on folks in The City having my back.)
Prop 8 will fall in court, or at worst, lose seriously in 2010, but that's not my point. My point is that the "living prophet" decided he could make money and shore up support by politicizing his "flock". We must make sure he, and every other "my-invisible-friend-in-the-sky" snake oil peddler knows that this is a financial loser, not just immediately, but in the long term. Five years from now, I want the LDS "church" to be trying to recover financially from their actions today.
Remember what FDR said, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." Have you written/called a congress-critter today? 8.25, 6.21
Prop 8
Remember that nailing someone to the cross was the penalty for a crime. Nail the LDS to it.
Keep this in mind
When you make statements like "nail the LDS to it" meaning the cross, what you are doing is enabling them to play the victim role.  They will then say "look these gay people are the enemies and they are persecuting us."  Also it is not the general membership that is the problem.  It is their perception of us that is the problem.  When you set healthy boundaries with any religious bigots by being firm but by also not being mean spirited you will accomplish a lot more than by confirming to them that you hate them and are their enemies.  Speak the truth about who we are and about what they are doing.  Just be firm about it that's all.
Regarding what the General Authorities told the congregations to do
This video is extremely disturbing to me.  I have been LDS for many years and know who all three of these men are who are giving these directives to the LDS people in California.  I have not been active in the LDS church for over 2 years because I am gay, out and I cannot stand what my church is doing in the name of the God of love.  After viewing this video I can openly say I am sickened by the Church meddling in the political affairs of California in order to take away the civil rights of a minority.  I am extremely angry and upset by this.  This is the last straw.
They obviously feel a need to outright lie in order to instill fear in the California electorate and in the hearts of LDS Californians and others.  If I hear "Same Sex Attraction" used yet again like it is some kind of damned disease I'm going to scream my head off.  The General Authorities of the Church are obviously incredibly misguided on these issues and feel a need to lie in order to instill fear in order to pass prop 8.  This is extremely scary as it should be to any level headed person.  The Idea that the state would force the Mormons or any other religion to marry or "condone" a practice they don't agree with or believe in is absolute bullshit.  They knew that unless they stretched the truth and also out and out lie that they could not convince Californians (especially those who don't understand the issues) to vote yes on prop 8.  I hope and I pray with every fiber of my being that the California Supreme Court takes the influence of the Church and the lies that were peddled by these leaders into full consideration when they make their decision to hopefully overturn prop 8.  I hope that they make a clear and concise statement in their deliberation and that they expose these lies for what they are - bold faced lies that were used in order to manipulate the California electorate to vote to take away the civil rights of a genuine minority in California.  It's obvious that the LDS Church and other "Christian" Churches who hate marriage equality will take these things as persecution and play the victim role which they do very well.  It's time that we not enable these bigots anymore.  Enough is enough and this is the last straw.
A Passive/Agressive Dysfunctional Church in Denial
I want to add yet something else.  When I lived in Utah for about 4 years during the late 1990's I noticed that many of the other Church members I knew were very passive/agressive.  They were taught to be nice, sweet and kind but were never shown how to resolve conflicts in a healthy way that included setting healthy boundaries, etc.  The "don't question your leaders" kind of attitude just spilled over into secular life in Utah.  When people judged or said things that were underhanded about me or others like me because I am gay it would never be direct.  It was often indirect and often coded as not to appear mean spirited.  When I would confront any of these people who treated me this way I was met with denial "oh I never said that, or that's not what I meant."  Denial was the response.  It often left me feeling confused and not trusting myself.  When I stepped away and really looked closely at what was happening it started to make more sense.  This pattern wasn't just among many active Mormons it has been interwoven into the very fabric of the culture.  Until more recently I didn't know exactly where this kind of attitude (self-righteous, pious, condescending and patronizing) was coming from.  After viewing the video "what the LDS Prophet Told the Mormons about the "Protect Marriage"/Yes On Prop 8 Campaign" I now know as never before just exactly where this kind of attitude comes from.  It is taught from the highest leaders of the Church down to the general member.  What a deeply disillusioning reality.  This is a deeply disheartening and upsetting thing for me.
The GLBT community needs to take these religious directives very seriously and find out what these Church leaders (including other anti-gay Churches) are saying to their membership and what they are doing long before the political choices such as prop 8 are made.  We cannot EVER be naive or caught off guard with them nor underestimate their political power.  They will do all they can to take our rights away.  It's time we learned from this and use the Obama plan to be 3 steps ahead of them before they can do the kind of damage like they did in California with prop 8.  Let this be a lesson learned and not ever have to be learned again.
We need a media matters for america type project
Have people paid to watch religious broadcasts from the leading faiths and read their dogma and make our strategies from there.
"contention is of the devil"
I'm sure you heard that a lot, no? I know I did. That kind of talk leads to the passive-aggressive behavior you noticed.
Irony Alert!
O yeah, the Mormons on the march for the Sanctity of Traditional Marriage!
That would be the Traditional Mormon Polygamous Harem Run By Big Daddy, would it not?
Regarding the LDS leadership teaching their California membership to promote prop 8
Take a look at this video and the 2nd Elder who is speaking and slow it down to just a snapshot.  This man is very angry.  Look at his expressions.  They definitely show that he is an angry man in talking about these issues.  They really get upset when they can't control their environment.
