Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Wanda Sykes comes out during Prop 8 protest

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Nov 16, 2008 at 06:47:07 AM EST

Via Queerty:
Having never (so?) publicly discussed her sexual orientation - but having made light of it on stage and on The New Adventures of Old Christine, where her character remains married to Julia Louis-Dreyfus - comedian Wanda Sykes surprised Las Vegas Prop 8 protesters by announcing she is gay and married her wife on Oct. 25. Why speak up now? Because of Prop 8's passage. "I felt like I was being attacked, personally attacked - our community was attacked. ... Now, I gotta get in their face. ... I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay. ... Instead of having gay marriage in California - no - we're going to get it across the country."

Patrick also has a diary on this. Photo/audio by The Strip Podcast.Wa

Wanda's loud, abrasive...
and so right on. Let's go get our damn equal rights, indeed!

everyone who read that edition of Out knew she was a lesbian :0)
But it's very good that she spoke up! I am proud of Wanda! If she asks who I am, I am the drink man!

GO Wanda!!!
What she said was what many of us believe, this should be over and non-issue so we don't have to LABEL people.

I hate when I see articles like "lesbian comedian", "gay blogger", etc.  We are all just people - damnit!

And this is our new watershed, our new Stonewall - we must overcome this - and yesterday it was awesome to see support from the whole community in my town WITHOUT LABELS.

KEEP THE FIGHT GOING UNTIL WE WIN THE WHOLE COUNTRY!!!

More than one thing in common
I've been often told that I look like Wanda Sykes (strangers on the streets) and that I act like Wanda Sykes (by a couple close friends). Now it seems I have another thing in common with her, except the wife. :-)

Hope Queen Latifah
heard that

Am I the only one thinking...

..."You couldn't have said this before the election, Wanda?"

Seriously, I'm getting tired of what I perceive some as "day-late-dollar-short" statements by LGBT celebs, as well as LGBT ally celebs. (Such as, Oprah had a show about the farm animal related initiative in California before the election, but didn't have a show about Prop 8 until after the election -- as an example of an ally celeb being a day late and a dollar short.) Some of us non-celebs were already were out and talking same-gender marriage from our personal experiences before November. We didn't hide our participation in same-gender weddings before the Prop 8 vote, and announce our participation after the Prop 8 vote like Wanda did.

It's great that Wanda's out now and thea t will no doubt help us in the future -- but she could have had a possibility for more impact regarding the rights of her LGBT peers if she'd been honest about her sexuality and marriage sooner.

I share your sentiment to a degree
She was actually outed by Out Magazine in their famous edition with Anderson Cooper's face on the cover in the spring of 2007. And she pulled the same "person I love" open-door-closet act during at least one interview.

Wanda is AMAZING!
Thanks for showing your courage.

We love Wanda
We saw Wanda when she came to Atlanta about 3 or so years ago to the Tabernacle.  We had a blast and I am so happy and proud that she's made this very public statement.

I do however, acknowledge the day late and a dollar short mindset, but am trying to see this and so many other things as the good that comes out of something bad.   It generally takes something very bad to happen, before a true turnaround begins to take place.

Yay, drama queen media
We all know the only reason that bullshit was pushed so hard is because the corporate media masters 1) will be paid better by Jesus-humpers if they keep us divided and 2) They do love a shitstorm. Bill O'Reilly was laughing his gross, scabby ass off about it all week.

The real blame lies in the "christian" hatemongers' corner, and we all know that, too.

God save ornery old queens! - kevinchi

First place I read the 70% figure was on Daily Dish of Andrew Sullivan
he might have some 'splaignin' to do if he ran bogus numbers.

Basically OT
Hadn't heard of this show and was wondering how the "married to Julia Louis-Dreyfuss" thing worked. Checked wikipedia and:

In the season premiere, Barb discovered that due to her divorce, she would have to be temporarily deported until her paperwork would sort out due to her foreign status. Christine offered to marry her to keep her in the country and Barb reluctantly accepted, even though it was apparent that Christine was much more into the marriage concept than she was.

...hm, that's interesting. But I can't help but wonder:

- Where is this show set?

- How do they get around the fact that, last I checked, UAFA has not passed and the INS does not recognize gay marriages for purpose of immigration law?

one word: fiction.
you are watching a fictional fantasy, not a documentary.  so you are correct - uafa hasn't passed.  in fact, our friend obama helped criticize it into oblivion last session.

Wanda is out!
As a huge fan of Ms. Sykes I am thrilled she is finally speaking up. Congratulations to her!

running gags
Will this be the end of the recurring appearances of "Drink Man" in her stand-up?  A gag that consistently points out the arrogance and misogyny of men who believe they are owed sex just for buying a drink (or any small favor or act of courtesy)?

I bet " Drink Man" will live on
there will probably be 10 times more Drink Men in her future.. you know how some straight guys are- they think lesbianism is a challenge to overcome!

Touche
You got a point there, Miranda. Indeed.
