Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Owner of Cinemark gives $9,999 to Prop 8, and now stands to profit from 'Milk'

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Nov 16, 2008 at 16:35:41 PM EST

How many ways of wrong is this? CEO of Cinemark, Alan Stock, who gave $9999 to Yes on 8, be allowed to earn one dime on the back of Harvey Milk's legacy by runningGus Van Sant's "Milk" in his theaters (it opens wide on Nov. 26)?
If 1,000 of us commit to see MILK at a competitor's theater instead of Cinemark, at an average cost of $10 per ticket, that's $10,000 of lost revenue.

Boycotts work. A boycott of a Sacramento theatre company resulted not only in the resignation of a Yes on 8 contributor, but a public apology and donation to Human Rights Campaign! We can do this again.

You can find an alterative theater using the links on the left, and join our facebook group below to spread the word! Help us reach 1000 members so we can send a message to Mr. Stock: YOU WILL NOT PROFIT FROM HATE.

The movie houses to avoid are "Century", "CinéArts", and "Tinseltown" theater chains.

You can join the "No "Milk" for Cinemark!" Facebook group here.

All Reno Theaters are "Century"
Yes we have a monopoly....
I will wait for it to come out on DVD then.

Do you think...
...that we could get Sean Penn to picket his own film at Cinemark theaters?

Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Anyone know how to contact him?

Do you think
Contact Ellen Degeneres I'm sure she can just call Sean.

Both multiplexes in town are Cinemark
as is the new one being built to replace the cheap one.

So it's videos or a trip out of town.

I will not feed the mouth that bites me.

looks like there's a theater in NC too
Cinemark Tinseltown U S A
305 Faith Rd, Salisbury, NC
Tel: (704) 639-1342

Here is a list...
Of all their theaters sorted by city.  http://www.cinemark.com/theate...

I would make copies of all my ticket stubs I purchased at other theaters (in addition to the "Milk" movie) and send them to their PR department (or equivalent) until some action has been taken on their part to right this wrong.

Viva La Resistance!

Question
Do you know if there are any of the Cinemark theaters in Ontario/ Canada? We have a Cineplex Theater in my town and I was wondering if it is connected to the Cinemark? The page you have listed doesn't seem to recognize Ontario except as Ontario, Ohio. just wondering, because if it is, I won't be going there again.

Vancouver
I scanned through the list and it seems that the only theatre they have in Canada is in Vancouver. I don't think the Cineplex-Odeon chain has any corporate relationship to Cinemark. "Cine" is a just a popular prefix for companies that run cinemas.

[ Parent ]
Thanks
I'm glad Cineplex is not part of the bigot's chain. I like going to that theater. Thanks again.

[ Parent ]
Wow, great idea!
Or maybe we could get a nationwide action going asking everyone to send their non-Cinemark ticket stubs from Milk to one central location, then someone sends all the stubs together in a box to the Cinemark HQ with a rainbow flag and nice, little note.

Tax the Christian Taliban!

Is it possible for filmmakers to withdraw from Sundance?
I would think this is a film that won't do well among folks who think like Alan Stock and, since I can't imagine any self-respecting gay person (or ally) would knowingly go to a cinemark theater now, I don't know why they're not negotiating with the distributor to get out of carrying the film.

I'd love for Redford to cancel Sundance this year or, at least, for all the stars to be no shows.

CANCEL.....good idea.

DAMN
I hoped Tinseltown was seperate from Cinemark, I think those two are all the theaters in dumb a$$ Baton Rouge. I'll check neighboring towns or New Orleans to go see MILK.

oh I got good news today, Cafe Press accidently doubled my order of two "Fight the H8" t-shirts, but the customer service rep wrote me to keep the additional 2 shirts and I won't be charged for them.

Thx Cafe Press!

picketing or leafleting inside of a shopping mall.....questions
Can those of us who are offended by the Cinemark chairman's donation pass out leaflets inside of a mall by the Cinemark theater? I'm assuming that you can either end up being asked to leave or perhaps arrested but I have no direct experience. Any activist types have any experience doing this sort of thing.

Thanks,
Grahame

picketing can't be done inside malls, or in their parking lots
You can picket on public sidewalks if you keep moving and don't block the entrance to a building.

you can only do that on private property
a) if you have permission of the owner or manager, or
b) if you are willing to wing it until they ask you to leave.  they can't do anything to you if you leave when asked.  but just to be certain, contact your closest ACLU.

ppp is correct - if you protest on city property, you're ok as long as you don't block foot or car traffic, and you dont "loiter".

I've never heard of someone allowing picketers on private property
usually they don't want any negative publicity, on public property they have no choice, you have the right.

It might depend on location...
In California at least, some forms of protest (passing out leaflets was the relevant State Supreme Court case) are legal on private property which is open to the public.  Last I checked, the state constitution gives significantly more free-speech protection to people when on open-to-the-public private property than the U.S. Constitution does -- some other states may have similar protections.

It's a dilemna
You want the christian conservatives to see the film.  It might be better to find another LDS business to boycott, such as Marriott International.  Bill Marriott is a major supporter to the LDS church.  He and his vamily own 30% of the stock and tithe 15 percent of their profit to the Mormon Church.  Follow the link to a 60 minutes interview where he said magic undearwear protected him.  Also, if you stay at a Marriott hotel, the nightstand has a Book of Mormon in it's drawer.  That is pushing Mormon religion, Err, I mean Mormon politics.  Their stock is down half of what it was a year ago.  Now is the time to get them by the balls.  It would get more press and those corporate people are shaking in their boots.  Support Paris Hilton's chain instead.

Same-Sex Marriage is good for the economy.

It's a dilemna
Marriott International has both Domistic partners benefits and Gender Identity protections in their Company's Non- Discrimination Policy so I wouldn't think we would want to be protesting them.

Has it really come to this???
You know, just because someone is LDS doesn't mean they are EVIL or was even in support of Prop 8.  I live in Utah and my partner's entired family is LDS, but didn't support Prop 8.

I am embarrassed that Marriott had to come out and publicly announce that he DID NOT contribute one dime to EITHER SIDE, nor did his company.  He stayed out of it.  And he DOES offer same sex partner benefits, and has a great equality clause.

I have a few friends that work for Marriott, and they say it is an amazing place to work, and is so clear and focused on equal protection and being a positive environment for ALL employees.

So this man has to apologize for his faith?  The LDS church had a major influence, but every article I saw showed how this call from the church was so divisive to the members, most did not agree with what the church said...

Focus boycotts and activism to where it will make a change, and not where it will cause employers to say, "My God, we worked hard to be as all inclusive and protecting of employees as we could, and look where it got us..."

"Mourn the losses, because they are many; but celebrate the victories, because they are few."

So they can vote to remove rights...
...but we aren't even allowed to choose where to spend our money?

"Boycotts Work"
The artistic director of the CMT didn't step down due to a boycott.  He resigned two days after the story broke about his donation.  Perhaps the threat of a boycott caused him to be forced to resign, but it wasn't an actual boycott.

What will deem this boycott a success?  If the CEO steps down?  I'm all for doing something but most of the calls for boycotts lately don't seem to have any sort of goal in mind.

Good thing there are no Cinemark theatres in San Diego.
We are fortunate that we do not have any Cinemark theatres here in San Diego.  Also, we didn't hear anything about AMC, UltraStar, Regal, Pacific, and Landmark giving money to the Prop. 8 campaign.  Whew.

Regal Cinemas no better
facist Philip Anschutz, owner of Regal Cinemas, is no better and certainly no friend to the gays.  Best if you can find an independent theater to see Milk (and any other movie, for that matter).
