There are always (at least) two ways to interpret natural disasters

Why is California burning?  Who knows...but we're protesting everywhere and ONLY California is burning...only the state that voted to write discrimination into the Constitution!  

Frankly, I think CA is burning because it is a very dry state that is prone to wild fires every year....but I could be wrong!

Egads. It's like you were using brains or something...

Perhaps too we're seeing so many homes are being burned to the ground because developers built too many of these homes too close together and too close to known fire areas -- and California local governments let them build these homes too close together and too close to known fire areas because of political donations to local politicitions, or for that the local politicians wanted to see a larger base for property tax revenues.

My point on XM Saturday

On my XM show Saturday (podcasts free at radicalruss.com) I made this point during the "Week in 90 Seconds":

Today, millions across the country will protest California's Prop 8 that stole the civil right of marriage for gay people [Prop 8 Protestor clip]

Meanwhile, wildfires threaten the counties in Southern California that voted for the gay marriage ban.  Hey, maybe God didn't like Prop 8! [clip of Pat Robertson - "I hope I heard wrong" quote from when he heard God say Obama would win]

Another cool thing about the podcast?  No commercials.  And, at 79:40, it burns perfectly onto one audio CD for convenient road trip listening.  I'm just sayin'...

The location of the fires leads me to believe...

Aren't these fires happening mostly in the counties in which the majority voted yes on 8?

That makes sense, if you understand Sodom

A lot of Christians think Sodom was destroyed because the town was full of homosexuals who tried to have sex with a couple of angels. But a reading of Genesis shows that the destruction was already decided before the alleged rape attempt.

Abraham manages to bargain with God to spare the city if ten righteous men can be found:

20-21 God continued, "The cries of the victims in Sodom and Gomorrah are deafening; the sin of those cities is immense. I'm going down to see for myself, see if what they're doing is as bad as it sounds. Then I'll know."

22 The men set out for Sodom, but Abraham stood in God's path, blocking his way.

23-25 Abraham confronted him, "Are you serious? Are you planning on getting rid of the good people right along with the bad? What if there are fifty decent people left in the city; will you lump the good with the bad and get rid of the lot? Wouldn't you spare the city for the sake of those fifty innocents? I can't believe you'd do that, kill off the good and the bad alike as if there were no difference between them. Doesn't the Judge of all the Earth judge with justice?"

26 God said, "If I find fifty decent people in the city of Sodom, I'll spare the place just for them."

27-28 Abraham came back, "Do I, a mere mortal made from a handful of dirt, dare open my mouth again to my Master? What if the fifty fall short by five-would you destroy the city because of those missing five?"

  He said, "I won't destroy it if there are forty-five."

29 Abraham spoke up again, "What if you only find forty?"

  "Neither will I destroy it if for forty."

30 He said, "Master, don't be irritated with me, but what if only thirty are found?"

  "No, I won't do it if I find thirty."

31 He pushed on, "I know I'm trying your patience, Master, but how about for twenty?"

  "I won't destroy it for twenty."

32 He wouldn't quit, "Don't get angry, Master-this is the last time. What if you only come up with ten?"

  "For the sake of only ten, I won't destroy the city."

33 When God finished talking with Abraham, he left. And Abraham went home.

Incidentally, the men of Sodom wanting to "know" the "Men of God" or angels is interesting because the same word is translated as know in the following verses:

For I know [Abraham], that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

and

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

At any rate, there seems to be some prophetic clarification here that the latter-day prophet James may have missed:

'The sin of your sister Sodom was this: She lived with her daughters in the lap of luxury-proud, gluttonous, and lazy. They ignored the oppressed and the poor. They put on airs and lived obscene lives. And you know what happened: I did away with them.'

 - Ezekiel 16:49-50 (MSG)

It was about a culture of "I got mine" and of oppression. And God destroyed them in fire and brimstone.

So yes, it may well be a hostile and inhospitable people with whom God takes issue, if someone were to attribute the wildfires to God.

1. Literally, California isn't burning.  Only a parcel of forest near Santa Barbera.

2. I thought the cause of the wildfires is the passing of Prop 8.  God [according to Buddy Cole (Scott Thompson), appears to be a big black lesbian] has her wrath on the Prop 8 supporter.

3. Wildfires are more common than earthquakes.

If I have been hearing correctly,

  The businesses we are targeting for our boycotts, they claim inocent people are getting hurt.  The employees of say the El Coyote for example.  I am sure there are people whose homes have been burt didn't vote or voted yes on 8, you would think the all knowing god would have spared those homes, right?  

 So when we boycott a business or a state such as Utah or Florida and innocent people get hurt, we are following god's way of payback.

 Twisted logic for the twisted thought that the fires are Teh Gay's fault.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Yes, I know he's disgusting, but I'm sure if we can find a really good looking 20-ish guy who's willing to do it for the greater good, we should be able to catch him in the act and expose him. :D

Why do we let this fool run on and on and on....It is said in the last days that "false prophets" shall rise up and lo and behold this one even looks like a SNAKE. Ya know he hit every ugly branch on the way down from HIS fall from grace. He says gays are going after the mormons because we think they're weak and will not defend themselves ! Let me remind you it's the Gays that are being picked on because we are known to be passive. Who in thier right minds would pick on gay people ? The same in Philly -

rain stopped before the protest,and downpoured afterwards into the night.

But it was a whoppy 70 degrees and gorgeous for the 5 hours of the set-up and rally.

As a person of faith, I was thinking, "God stopped by. She says 'Hi, wassup?'"

And in NYC

The only time it didn't rain last Saturday was when the fags and the dykes were rallying against prop 8.  The  forecast was for rain all day.  Actually it was a little eerie.  The rain literally stopped within half an hour before the rally, and started up again about half an hour after it was over.

If God speaks through natural phenomena like fire and rain, then God was certainly smiling on the Queer folk in NYC.

Same thing happened in Indianapolis. It rained all morning and stopped when people began gahering for the rally.. The windeven died down a bit, making it much less uncomfortabl than it's been all morninng.

Still, neither here nor there: this' guy's just a crazy man who twists ANYTHING he can think of to fit his cracked view of the what he believes. He's pitiful.

The safest states from natural disasters in Connecticut, followed by Massachussets.  Hmmm.  One could conclude that marriage equality is a protective factor, but that would be just as dumb as concluding that Oklahoma has lots of tornadoes because of a anti-gay laws.  Sometimes weather and geography are really all that matters.

I mean the wrath of God came quickly to CA even though they past Prop H8 ... but they got smited just because people are protesting

Here in Massachusetts we've had gay marriage for how many years?  We are no longer in a drought, we've had a few little tornadoes (but nothing like they have in the the Bible Belt), we haven't had any hurricanes (unlike the Bible Belt), no tidal waves, no raging fires

So either:
1. we are so far gone that God doesn't even care
2. He's busy and will get to us (but we are off his radar for the time being) .. CA is FAR MORE important
3. Or all the empirical evidence (hurricanes and massive tornadoes in the Bible Belt) and a massive fire after prop H8 was passed .... it seems God is pissed off with h8ting "Christians" - and He's trying to get a message to THEM (but they aren't listening)

Poor Canada should have broken off of North America and disappeared into the icy ocean by now. We've had same sex marriage and equal rights for LGBT's for several years now. And you know what? We are doing just fine up here. Even our economy is not suffering as badly as the U.S. though we are beginning to feel the pinch. I think the U.S. should follow the lead of Canada and give LGBT's same sex marriage and equal rights. Then all of these calamaties would definitely end. I'm sure Hartline would agree with me. (snark)

mental health issues

this poor man needs some serious mental health care.  over the weekend i was chatting with a friend who works on childhood trauma & abuse issues about different disfunctional ways that victims of child abuse attempt to take back their power as adults.    this particular malfunction didn't come up but i think i'll point her towards his page.

i read more of his rantings than i wanted - the sad thing is he seems to really believe the delusions he spews.  i haven't had the time to go listen to this: You can watch my life and death speech to preserve the Mt. Soledad Cross by going to the city council video archives for March 8, 2005.  really?  life and death speech?  about a statue?

at least the people of san diego didn't want to be represented by a paranoid man with a martyr / messiah complex , even if he does have a direct line to "GOD".  wonder what punishment will be inflicted upon the populace for that sin.

Every late Summer, Fall, there are wildfires in Cali. For the past few hundred years.

Quite a "prophecy." Almost as good as the prediction there will be Atlantic hurricanes and Catbbean hurricanes due to god's dislie of pina coladas or some such thing every year sometimes between June and December.

These people are simply morons.
