The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Scam artist Benny Hinn to flock: pay for my new ministry jet

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Dec 04, 2006 at 12:23:58 PM EST

Purchasing this incredible ministry tool is monumental and historic. We have never bought any plane with this much range or capability that will crisscross the globe repeatedly so I can present the Gospel in person to unprecedented millions of precious souls who will accept and come to know our wonderful Jesus as their eternal Savior. Now is the time to move forward with Dove One. What we do for the sake of the Gospel, we must do now!
-- Bogus "faith healer" and spewer of failed prophecies Benny Hinn, on why the sheeple should shell out buxxx so he can fly high.
This man has no conscience. We all know that some of these fundie ministries are nothing more than cash cows, with endless pleas for people on fixed incomes to give all they have to support "outreach" and soul saving.

Benny Hinn, who's been exposed as a fraud time and again (famously in 2002 on Dateline NBC), continues the shameless begging for dough to support his high-falutin' lifestyle. It's all justified because the sheeple are working through, him doncha know. He needed a new Gulfstream G4SP plane, which he has named, appropriately, Dove One. From his pathetic, unbelievably transparent donation page (my emphasis).

I have enclosed a beautiful photo-filled brochure to explain more about this incredible ministry tool that will increase the scope of our abilities to preach the Gospel around the globe. Now we must pay the remainder of the down payment, and I am asking the Lord Jesus to speak to 6,000 of my precious partners to sow a seed of $1,000 in the next ninety days. And I am praying, even as I write this letter, that you will be one of them!

I know that as you obey the Lord, He will open heaven wide and cause a mighty harvest of blessings to descend upon your life and all that you do!

This next step is absolutely vital to everything we are called to do, and it is the only way I can continue to do all God is directing me to do during these prophetic days. There is simply no other possible way for me to keep up with my schedule.

Purchasing this incredible ministry tool is monumental and historic. We have never bought any plane with this much range or capability that will crisscross the globe repeatedly so I can present the Gospel in person to unprecedented millions of precious souls who will accept and come to know our wonderful Jesus as their eternal Savior.

...Your seed of $1,000 or more toward Dove One will reap a harvest for years. The G4SP is built to fly for decades. Imagine the harvest during all those years, and you will be a vital part of that long-term harvest!

All major credit cards are accepted, of course. As a thank you gift, Benny will send you a "beautiful art-quality model of Dove One for your desk or mantle as a constant reminder that you are a vital part of this last-days harvest for souls," and your name will be inscribed on Dove One -- so you can fly with Benny -- in spirit.

But back to that Dateline report, which I remember vividly. The network has reported, for example:
-- Hinn's salary is somewhere between $500K and a million dollars per year.
-- he has a $10 million seaside mansion,
-- a private jet with annual operating costs of about $1.5 million (this is what is being replaced by Dove One)
-- and a Mercedes SUV and convertible, valued at about $80,000 each.

On his evangelical "healing" trips, Hinn has had "layovers" between crusades piling up hotel bills ranging from $900 per night to royal suites that cost almost $3,000 for one night's stay in lovely places such as: Hawaii, Cancun, London, and Milan. From The Theology of Benny Hinn, by Kim Riddleberger:

Claiming to possess the power of God in his hands, Hinn maintains that his personal "anointing" feels like electricity radiating through his extremities.  Often, Hinn will call those in the audience, who claim that they have been healed, to come up onto the stage and testify about what they feel has happened to them during the emotionally charged crusade.  Hinn may blow on them or "lay hands" upon them individually, slaying them in the spirit.  If they persist in remaining on their feet--in a somewhat embarrassing situation for all parties involved--Hinn "slays" them in a rather aggressive manner, placing both of his hands upon them, then pushing them backwards into the arms of the waiting attendants who catch them.  In the words of one reviewer, Hinn's ministry "bears all the marks of manipulative, staged performances."
How about some video fun of Benny healing the faithful on terra firma:

Even outlets like AgapePress have been willing to report on Hinn. From June of last year:

Ole Anthony -- president of the Trinity Foundation -- submitted a three-inch-think report to the Internal Revenue Service in an effort to show that Hinn's ministry failes to meet the IRS's definition of a church.  Hinn started a church in Orlando in 1983, then sold it in 1999.  However, Benny Hinn Ministries (BHM) is still classified as a church.  Anthony has a problem with that.  "Claiming himself to be a church, he doesn't have any accountability," he asserts.

"He has a revolving-door board of directors -- in comes somebody who disagrees with him, he changes the board; and so he's using that ministry [and] its well over a hundred million a year [that he is taking in] as his personal piggy bank." According to Anthony, Hinn lives in a $10 million parsonage, has charged to the ministry hotel rooms costing thousands of dollars a night, and provided thousands of dollars to family members for "shopping sprees." Anthony fears that Hinn's action are "going to bring down the real churches if he keeps up these kinds of excesses."  The evangelist, he adds, has "absolutely no accountability -- he's just run amok."  It is because of Hinn's refusal to be held accountable that MinistryWatch.com has issued a "Donor Alert" [PDF] encouraging donors to prayerfully consider withholding contributions to the ministry.  BHM officials were given more than two weeks to comment on this story but did not return repeated requests for interviews.

And here's a CBC documentary on this vile character, "Do you believe in miracles?"

He has also been criticized by a number of Christian watchdog groups for not joining the Evangelical Council For Financial Accountability. The Council is the leading accreditation agency that helps Christian ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to seven standards of accountability. It has over 1,100 members, including Pat Robertson and Billy Graham. Benny Hinn refuses to join.

...Benny Hinn insists that every penny is spent on God's work. But the fifth estate obtained confidential financial records from inside the Hinn ministry. These documents were provided by individuals who say they want the public to know how Benny Hinn spends the money entrusted to him.

The fifth estate asked Roddy Allan, a forensic accountant, to review the ministry's expense and travel records. He says, "I'm a mere bean counter, but it would be hard to persuade me that you had to incur that kind of expense in order to accomplish a business objective."

Among the prophecies of Hinn that failed to come to pass --
"The Spirit tells me - Fidel Castro will die - in the 90's. Oooh my! Some will try to kill him and they will not succeed. But there will come a change in his physical health, and he will not stay in power, and Cuba will be visited of God."
--  Orlando Christian Center, Dec. 31st, 1989

"The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid 90's, about '94-'95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. [audience applauds] But He will not destroy it - with what many minds have thought Him to be, He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed."
--  Orlando Christian Center, Dec. 31st, 1989

Hinn also claimed that Jesus would appear physically in Nairobi, Kenya at one of his crusades. That didn't happen, but a sick baby brought to be healed died.

One can argue that the man is bilking the willing; that they are a bunch of desperate rubes seeking salvation and healing from a man who they mistakenly believe has a hotline to God. That doesn't negate the fact that the depraved Hinn knows exactly what he is doing to people who can ill afford to send him the meager funds they have to put food on the table or feed their children. It's sick.

His victims are terrified.
They're afraid that they're going to mold in their graves or be cast into Hell.  In their terror, they give money to a greedy, profligate man.

Note Hinn's use of the adjective, our, here: "...our wonderful Jesus...."

This is common for fundies.  They'll describe Jesus Christ as "my personal Lord and Savior," as if they own own or control the Christ.

Likewise, they'll assert that they're "saved" because they know the magic words.  They grant themselves the status of a God, deciding who ascends and who doesn't.

They pretend to be servile, but their language suggests utter arrogance.

Its a good thing that you aren't here to expose this Pam

P.S.
This is a kickass piece of journalism, Pam.  No wonder you're on CNN and winning awards.  And no wonder so many of us adore you.

Jesus in the sky
What's he gonna do, paint "Repent!" on the fusilage and fly low over high-density hethen districts?  Certainly an innovative approach to spreading the Word.

PIG
I believe that he also has some family members that work with him.  I'd love to hear some of their private conversations.  I'm glad you linked to the Rick Ross website which I have been reading for a few years.  There's lots of good info on that site.

Cheap Bastard!
Since he's not paying for it wonder why he didn't go with the G5 series?  Now that's a serious jet!

Symbiotic insanity
One can argue that the man is bilking the willing; that they are a bunch of desperate rubes seeking salvation and healing from a man who they mistakenly believe has a hotline to God. That doesn't negate the fact that the depraved Hinn knows exactly what he is doing to people who can ill afford to send him the meager funds they have to put food on the table or feed their children.

It is sick, definitely.  These cult leaders fascinate me, though.  How can they possibly do what they do?  Most of them must actually believe their own lies--i.e. believe they really are on a mission from some god or another.  Maybe they believe a different set of self-aggrandizing lies from the ones they tell their followers, but they have to have something in their heads that justifies the whole thing to themselves.  Sooooo weird.

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

to them
"believe they really are on a mission from some god or another. "

To these people, the ultimate Christian is rich, thin, hetero, and disease-free.  They make the sheeple believe that if they are "right with God" then they won't be poor, but first to become rich one must give up all, including whatever meager monies they have, to show God how much you love Him.  Usually, this is done by giving your money to someone who exemplifies the perfect Christian.

Hell, my momma was one of these types of people.  She believed that because I'm gay that I caused my dad to get cancer and die.  You don't even have to be directly ill, poor, or fat, just know someone who is, and you're doomed.

The more I know, the more I believe that fundamentalism is a mental illness.

not even necessarily hetro
one doesn't have to be hetro...only give the appearance of being hetro.

Hill believing his own lies
Possibly, Benny Hill might believe his lies. It's called counterattitudinal advocacy. The idea is that when Benny Hill says something that he does not believe it creates dissonance. Benny Hill's little mind then needs to resolve the dissonance somehow; in the case of counterattitudinal advocacy, he will resolve the dissonance by bringing his beliefs closer in line with his preachings. The caveat lies in the fact that the mind has more than one way of getting rid of the dissonance: demonstrating a solid reason (such as compensation) why you should abandon your morals (don't lie) is one of them. I think I'm pretty safe in saying that a private plane and a $1mil/year salary is a pretty solid compensation.

Benny Hill was a comedian
Benny Hinn is the homo-bigot.

oopsie
Thanks for pointing that out Daimeon. But my point still stands. And Benny Hill might well believe what he says! ;-)

but the video music
was from the Benny Hill Show.  My hunch is Benny Hill would approve of Hinn's "skit".

Disagree
I don't agree, although this might be the case with some preachers. In one of the news reports he has people working for him that select people out of the audience for the healing part of the program.  They never pick anyone that is in a wheelchair because it would become evident that he is full of shit.

[ Parent ]
As I said
As I said: a one million dollar a year salary is a pretty good compensation. My point isn't so much just about Benny Hinn as it is about the whole crowd: Dobson, Robertson, Cameron, Dear Leader etc... I have to say that I honestly think they believe their banter. But your right, Hinn is just doing it for the money.

Saw him
I saw him in Charlotte years ago.  He and his posse did a lot of collecting (free to get in, yet they requested $75/pp in donations) and very little healing.

crazy benny hinn-or however you spell it...
Your post was great....as usual-those guys are bonkers...good entertainment when you're bored.
It's sad there are sheeple that take him at face vaule.

I ran across a clip of his nonsense-with a twist....pretty funny.

-if you do see it...look at 1.38 and 1.58...at the man holding the person who's falling...what does that look like to you? I hope I'm wrong, it looks like the person's using something on the person shaking and falling down.
