The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Mormon church reeling from PR nightmare of its own making

by: Pam Spaulding

Too bad, so sad. There's a great article in the Salt Lake Tribune about the fallout from the insidious involvement of the LDS church in passing California's Prop 8. On one level, ambassadors of the faith are having to field criticism at a level not seen in ages.
Although they live a continent away from California, LDS Church members Gregory and JaLynn Prince, of Washington, D.C., still have felt the backlash from their church's involvement in the traditional marriage initiative known as Proposition 8.

Their daughter, Lauren, a Boston University student, has lost friends over the issue, while their son, an LDS missionary in San Bernardino, Calif., has had a disproportionate number of potential converts cancel appointments.

About two weeks ago, during a first-ever class on Mormonism at Wesley Theological Seminary, where the Princes have built bridges for years, students pointedly asked them: "What was your church thinking?"

"We are not taking sides on the issue, but the way this was done has hurt our people and the church's image," JaLynn Prince said. "It reminds me of the naive public relations strategy we had regarding the Equal Rights Amendment."

On the other hand, some the politicized and powerful reps in the LDS are welcoming the attention and the acknowledgment that the church's money machine and ability to marshal foot soldiers in the new culture wars is potent.
Gary Lawrence added his own optimistic view.

"These protests will help us. It puts a spotlight on us," said Lawrence, a leader in the Proposition 8 campaign and author of How Americans View Mormonism: Seven Steps to Improve Our Image.

"Which is worse -- antagonism or apathy? I believe apathy is our bigger enemy."

You'll recall that in Chino Blanco's diary on Lawrence, this is a man who revels in his power at stripping a group of people of civil rights -- a group that his son Matthew belongs to.
Matthew Lawrence, in an e-mail interview with this diarist, said that although he is "extremely upset and frustrated" with his family and that he has "cut off communication with them," that "at the end of the day, I do love them."  The elder Lawrence was also the Mormon Church's point man for the Prop 22 campaign in 2000.  Matt says, "I love my family so much, but it's hard to not take this personally.  We had a brief falling-out over Prop. 22, but that got mended.  But two anti-gay initiatives in eight years, it's impossible not to feel attacked."

GARY LAWRENCE!
He's the whackaloon who said that if you were against Proposition 8, it was as if you'd sided with Satan in the pre-existence. If you're a Mormon, or former Mormon, that's a HUGE insult.

http://www.meridianmagazine.co...

This guy should not be quoted for anything, since he's an obvious nutcase fruitloops whackaloon. I've seen him quoted as an expert and he should be absolutely discredited like Paul Cameron--because he's CRAZY.

You want to hear the really ironic thing?
Per Mormon doctrine:
Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. After God created everything, he asked them both to present plans for the salvation of humanity. Lucifer brought in a plan that required everyone to follow the "proper" path, and everyone would be saved. Jesus brought in a plan that allowed free will, and only some would be saved. God picked Jesus' plan, Satan rebelled and started the war in heaven and got kicked out.

Free will is an essential part of god's plan, and it's huge in Mormon theology. But the Mormon church took away free will when they passed Prop 8. According to their own doctrine, they're following the path of Lucifer.

Mormons? Srsly... SEriously?
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most people equate Mormonism with, like, Scientology - a crackpot bastardized religion? And that Mormons are being associated (even as an opponent) with gays is gross. On the Facebook No On 8 group Mormons from BYU cycle in to tweak gays and gay allies on the wall and I think to myself, why even talk to these Mormons because even before all this did we all forget that most Americans think Mormons are seriously nut cases?

No, I don't think so
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most people equate Mormonism with, like, Scientology - a crackpot bastardized religion?

While not too many people know much about the Mormon religion and some do still think of them as crazy polygamists, I really think the average American just thought that Mormons were a small evangelical Christian denomination.  The Osmonds were good ambassadors for the religion portraying Mormons as wholesome missionaries who have lots of children.

It's actually the fundamentalist Christians who go hog wild portraying LDS as a crackpot religion.

Haul Out the Crystal Ball
Maybe it's time for the First President (or whatever they call their pope) to have a vision. You know, like the one he had in the late seventies when God (or Moroni) told him that black people were, well, people. With souls and everything.
Yeah, that's the ticket. Problem fixed.

OK, I didn't know there are more GLBTQs in the United States than Mormons....
Now, the last census puts the number of "declared" and/or "out" GLBTQ citizens of the United States between 12-18+ million. (Of course this doesn't count GLBTQ teens who don't fill out the census forms or those still in the closet who won't be honest.) Most experts feel that 4-6% of the world's population is GLBTQ
In this story today a spokesperson for the LDS said:
"All in all, 2008 has been a particularly good year for the church," LDS spokesman Scott Trotter said. "The church dedicated four temples and announced eight more. Membership topped 13 million worldwide with over 52,000 missionaries in the field."

13 million = +/- 1/16% of the total world population.

Oligarchist Dominionism anyone?

"They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." - Andy Warhol

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction" - Blaise Pascal

A bit more maths...
The world population is currently roughly 6.7 billion, 5% of which is 0.335 billion. Queers outnumber Mormons by more than 25-to-1.

If you count only Western queers there's still a big difference - 5% of 1.6 billion (Europe, N. & S. America, Antipodes) is 80 million; the Mormons are outnumbered 6-to-1.

Bigger man than I
Matthew Lawrence is a bigger man than I would be. If any of my family fought to eliminate my rights, then said my outrage was good publicity for them, that would be the last that family member ever heard from me.

BULLSHIT
"We are not taking sides on the issue..." JaLynn Prince said.

Orly? Because those letters from the Trifecta in SLC sure had me fooled.

Overheard in a California Mormon meeting house ...
I overheard a close associate of [David] Parker and [Gary] Lawrence talking excitedly about how the databases compiled by Mormon canvassers would and could be used in future campaigns.

It's all money in the bank for Gary & Co.

Rank-and-file members of the LDS church are being played for chumps while Mormon PR flacks and political operators antagonize for fun and profit.

Rank-and-file members of EVERY church
are being played for chumps.  Pick you religion--Mormon, Catholic, Protestant, Scientology, you name it.  The suckers line up and the church leaders rake in the cash.  The beauty of it, from a bottom line viewpoint, is that they are selling a nonexistent product, so there is no overhead, just pure profit.  And they are never held accountable.  Not by anyone.  Not by the "faithful" (read: gullible), not by the legal authorities, who prosecute every other variety of fraud but give religion a total pass, and not by our president-elect, who intends to continue Bush's cash giveaways to churches.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
