The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Mike Jones on new Haggard scandal: 'I knew there were others'

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jan 26, 2009 at 09:00:00 AM EST

Last night I received an email from Mike Jones (he's a regular reader of the Blend, btw) about the video he shot in the wake of new revelations that his former client, the disgraced ex-megachurch pastor Ted Haggard, was engaged in other man-on-man sex while head of New Life Church. The latest mess involves a church volunteer who had an ongoing sexual relationship with the self-proclaimed "heterosexual with issues" Haggard. The young man has come forward to say New Life paid the volunteer hush money to keep the sex with Ted under wraps.

Jones said he knew about others (obviously more than the volunteer at this point, given the confirmation by current New Life pastor Brady Boyd on the church's web site), but couldn't reveal them at the time. Here's Mike Jones's video. I did a partial transcript:

"I knew there were others; others that I could not publicly out. They had to do it themselves, but they were scared. Some of their parents knew about what was going on at the church. And some of the parents just wanted to turn a blind eye to it. I also realized that it was going to be a problem to me out there alone, facing the press, facing the criticism. Now when Brady Boyd took over as pastor of New Life Church, I contacted him. I wanted to talk to him about these other young men who were coming to me with their stories. This was serious. And Pastor Boyd refused to meet with me.

With all the recent news that is coming out now, I hope people understand why I had to say something; because if I hadn't said something, this will still be going on at the church, and it would probably be even worse. I've always been a bit disappointed in the gay community, and some gay groups, I have been ostracized by the gay community. I contacted groups like the Human Rights Campaign when my world was coming apart for help and they refused to even return my phone call. In Denver I have been spit on, I've been yelled at, I've been called just...a whore.  And I would be lying if I said that did not hurt...I risked everything and I paid for it. I lost my privacy, I suffered financially, I lost my home, I lost friends, I lost family over this...I wanted to expose the injustice and the hypocrisy...I didn't do it for fame and fortune.

But I will tell you right now that most of my anger is at New Life Church. For over two years I have suffered being alone out there, taking all the heat for all this going on, when all this time they knew there were others and they paid hush money to this man to be quiet when they could have admitted that there were others right at that moment and that could have helped me out so much. Instead they put me out there to face it all on my own.

And you'll recall that New Life stated at the time of the debacle that Jones was the "only one." So much for bearing false witness. Mike Jones also says that the MSM, specifically referencing the L.A. Times, that said he did drugs with Haggard are completely false.  "I never did drugs with Ted Haggard. NEVER."

With the HBO documentary chronicling Haggard's rise and fall about to air this week, the former pastor was preparing for a sympathetic PR bonanza. He's slated to go on Larry King this Thursday and now he's going to have to face the music about his initial stories to the press that his fall off of the heterosexual wagon with Jones was some sort of isolated incident.

and the circus begins
It's a good thing that few of us can intimately comprehend what Mike Jones must be experiencing now and has endured in the months since outing Haggard.  Coming forward to speak truth in the face of injustice only to have the frailties of one's life laid bare for all the world to learn isn't easy.  Not being able to go out in public without the sense that one's every move is being watched and that one is being judged in the present for choices made in a past, unstable time.  Worrying about the impact of infamy on employment, housing, friendships, and family.

I may have bristled at the latest revelations about Haggard, but I would never doubt the sincereity of his accusers, having been in that place myself.  While I've kept a good front for the last several days, inside it's been back to "poster bear for PTSD," on the verge of tears and fuming at a society that creates these train wrecks of sex, abuse of power, and secrecy.  The last thing I want to read about or hear is more blaming the victims.

His book
Sort of wish he didn't put the camera on his book.  Looks like a sales pitch. Did he sound authentic or acting ?  I am not a drama critic but he seemed a bit stiff and rehearsed.  We all know Haggard is a sick puppy, no big news there.  Not sure a male prostitute is a good person to stand up for young guys in Haggard's mega church.  The only common denominator is gay sex.  Jones got paid for his services.  He wasn't taken advantage of.

Correction
I had never seen this version of his tape.  I assumed it was the shorter version on the other blog.  He does sound convincing and angry towards the second half.  Apologies.  I didn't know he had been so abused by the LGBT community.  That isn't right.

Same-Sex Marriage is good for the economy.

Who are you to criticise?
You lived a lie your whole life, you are soon to go on trial for tax evasion, and you've smeared and defamed people on this website and elsewhere.

What sort of example are you setting?

If it weren't for Proposition 8, you'd be a bitchy old racist coward.

NG
I can't be offended by your remarks as I don't know who NG is or the source of your demeaning words.  Others in the world appreciate what I am doing, famous people who have me speak on their radio and TV programs.  Come out and use your real name and take reponsibility for your words.  I am not evading taxes but protesting tax discrimination in the tax code against same sex marriage.  I am standing up for constitutional rights and first amendment separation of church and state.  I have the courage to give my real name and not hide behind initials. When one is open and honest he has to expect criticism.  It's fair game if we are both annoymous but when the attacking party is annonymous it is a different story and your words are not credible.  Did I not give you a donation when you asked, or steal your boyfriend/girlfriend's attention or something I am not aware of?  What's your problem ?

Same-Sex Marriage is good for the economy.

We're all "whores" in their eyes
LGBT people need to keep in mind that the religious right doesn't see much difference between a male "escort" and a totally monogamous gay couple raising kids in the suburbs.

The apex of this entire issue is that these churches condemn homosexuality. If that were not the case, gay ministers could be open about who they are and live an honest life.

The world will always have sex workers, people who cheat on their spouses, gossip and sex scandals.

Mike Jones (I hope you do read this) needs a new focus. Rather than be angry at the New Life Church, he needs to stand up for who and what he is. Being spit on and treated as a pariah is par for the course when you're a sex worker. Those who break the "unwritten code" and expose their clients aren't going to be treated with respect or even common decency. To think otherwise is an unrealistic expectation.

One positive thing that can come out of Mike Jones' experience is to put a human face on a very real segment of our community. He's come out of a shadowy world that many of us would like to pretend doesn't exist.

It is time for Jones to set this scandal aside and be a positive image for the men and women who provide the kind of services Haggard and tens of thousands of men use on a regular basis.

If he wants a website to serve as a platform, I'll build him one tomorrow. It won't cost him a dime.

As for the HRC not returning his phone calls...welcome to the club, big guy!

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

The fact that he got no help from the HRC is no surpise
We need new LBGT orgs and we need them NOW!

For a host of reasons.

These Beltway cocktail party divas are the enemy.

white picked fence versions of LGBTdom
The lack of support from HRC and other orgs for Jones and others in recent years should not come as a surprise, as our revelations are often cconnected to commercial sex work, survival sex, sexual inexclusivity, and erotic variations from which tightly wound Queer "leaders" wish to distance themselves and their communities under the rubric of gaining acceptance from our fellow citizens and corporate America.  I am often surprised that as a polyamorous Leatherman with a history of sex work I don't spontaneously combust when I enter the How Righteously Closeted "Equality" Center for non-HRC events!

Ewwww.... may be pressing my luck as I have such an event this evening.  What timing!

Why does everyone expect HRC to be all things to all people?
It just boggles the mind.  Ouch, I just stubbed my gay toe, and HRC didn't rush over with a bandaid.  Damn you, HRC!

MANY do not Lurleen...more all the time.
But there are people who could help and care. Come up with a suggestion I have done mine. Remember if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

No one expects it to be All Things To All People
Something to Someone would do just fine. As it is it's of no use to anyone.

SENT Video link....and quote...to LARRY KING Show.

Now we'll see if they pick up on it. Anyone send it to Rachel M yet. Its a hot potato I know, and might take more investigation before reporting. But then again, he is definitely in a position to know.  And a very uncomfortable one at that.

That is what he gets for thinking HRC is anything but a gentrified self help club. I think he could still get help from PFLAG. ...HMMM. OK sending this to Jody.

If any of you know Rachel M...e.g. Pam?? Please at least let her know.

THANK YOU Mike Jones
You are heroic, in coming forward, to end the BULLSH*T of Haggard and his preying on queer youths. You deserved a better reception from our community, and it doesn't matter a damn what your line of work is to me. Those who truely believe what you do with YOUR body that doesn't hurt anyone else...need to walk the walk.

Mike Jones, Thank You for Outing Ted Haggard
It's a shame that not everyone supports you on what's been brought to the public's attention. Religious leaders proclaiming intolerance, when behind the veiled curtain they have their own sexual adventures with whomever despite being married.

Mike Jones, add my THANKS
I took your book along on a camping trip, and couldn't put it down. It was a courageous thing you did; but how soon they forget the reasoning. If I may, to paraphrase as a reminder to all... It was 2006, an election was coming up. On the ballot in Colorado was a measure to ban gay marriage. And then, there on tv, you saw one of your clients, informing the voters why God doesn't want the gays to have rights. Yes, there was Ted Haggard, being pious to the flock. As if three years of visits to you never occurred. What a decision process you had to go through -- not to get your name known, but to do what was right. I have no question but that you did the right thing. And I thank you.

just watched an awkward interview with Pelosi (director of haggard flick) and Anderson Cooper
Being ashamed of being gay or completely incapable of admitting being gay, yeah Anderson tell us all about TED'S PROBLEM.....*just shakes my head*

Control of and stifling sexuality, eroticism, and spontaneous joyful love
gets fundamentalists out of bed every morning.  That and the fact that there are few people who can meet the life-sucking normality they believe is holy.

What God would say we have to sacrifice the beauty that is everywhere and within our reach?

Mike;

No one but you and Ted Haggard will ever know the truth.  It doesn't matter.  We have an obligation to remind each other of our dreams and hopes every day.  Don't spend your time crying foul at New Life Church.  Keep telling everyone that love and joy should not be decided by a church, government, or even your family.  Love and joy is everyone's right to pursue, in their own way.

I just watched Haggard's latest accuser
Grant Haas on queerty. He is totally believable.

What amazes me is that while I understand the logic of running into a homophobic institution like the church, the church actually seems like one of the easiest places to cruise. This is as true (if not more so) in the AA church community as it is in other churches, I suspect.

What I find sad is that Jones has put up with as much crap from the gay community as well as New Life.
