The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Hilarious discredited 'reorientation therapist' Cohen slams 'Prayers for Bobby'

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jan 26, 2009 at 16:00:00 PM EST

I really thought this sad sack had gotten the message when he and his therapize-away-the-gay practices provided rich material for Comedy Central and CNN. Do you remember Richard Cohen? A sample of his "therapy" from a report on CNN is looped below; see the hilarious segment here.

Anyway, the zero-credibility, expelled-from-the-American Counseling Association Cohen has resurfaced to object to the recent TV movie Prayers for Bobby. From his outfit, the International Healing Foundation:

Lifetime aired the heart-wrenching made-for-TV movie "Prayers for Bobby" this weekend. It tells the true story of a son driven to suicide by his mother's refusal to accept his homosexuality.

After Bobby's death, his mother, Mary Griffith, concludes that gays are born that way and the church was wrong in their judgment of those who experience same-sex attraction (SSA). We too believe that many people of faith are misinformed about this issue.

At the International Healing Foundation, we are fervent in our mission to promote the facts about SSA with compassion and love. We believe that people are not born with SSA and that changing from gay to straight is possible. We also believe that families and people of faith must learn how to love those who experience SSA. Over the past twenty years we have developed groundbreaking, successful solutions to these highly volatile issues through Coming Out Straight  for individuals, and Gay Children, Straight Parents for families.

Each book presents the meaning and causes of SSA and the process of transformation. Gay Children, Straight Parents is a plan for family healing, teaching everyone how to love "gays" the right way. If Mary Griffith, and others like her knew this information, their children would find the love they desperately need.

"People can and do change their sexual orientation. I've done it, and I've helped others do the same," declares sexual reorientation special Richard Cohen, M.A.

Cohen further states, "There is no conclusive evidence that anyone's sexual orientation is determined from birth; no one chooses to have SSA; and change is possible." We grieve for Bobby's passing. We grieve for his family's loss. We know that these tragedies can and must be prevented. We have solutions and there is much hope.

About this therapy, Cohen has said "You've got to feel it to heal it." Wayne Besen of Truth Wins Out weighed in on this nonsense:

Like a cheap infomercial, Cohen goes on to promote his silly products and continues to use his family - including his Moonie wife - in photos, as if they are mere props. Talk about moral turpitude and disrespect for the family!

...But, somehow the health of GLBT youths and modern science is irrelevant if it conflicts with Cohen’s religious dogma and bizarre, fringe psychological theories. Indeed, Cohen’s answer is having Bobby, if he were alive, pay him good money to bang a tennis racket against a pillow. Um, yeah, that would have saved him.   In my view, Cohen is a greedy, opportunistic shyster who will capitalize on any tragedy to make a quick buck. Has this man no shame?

The PO Box is in Maryland
Is this really where this guy is?

I love (NOT) on his website how he uses SSA initials as if "same sex attraction" is some sort of disease.

No question Cohen and people like this are dangerous...just ask Mrs Griffith and her Bobby.

Chasing The Devil
Just saw this new documentary about the ex-gay movement which prominently features Cohen and his dangerous 'ministry'.  Truly scary stuff.  This man,his 'movement' and others like him are a danger to society.

I didn't realize he himself was "ex-gay"
Hmmm, seems like he's got a pretty good gig there.  All these fresh-faced clean cut young men come to him for "cuddle time."

This guy is scum
I couldn't believe they had him on CNN. But something tells me that when people saw him with the tennis racket, they got the idea.

an ex-gay....
is like a bald man wearing a wig & claiming he is not bald. Or me claiming to be a vegetarian because I eat veggies with my steak.

...... Next time someone gives you a hard time for being LGBT... just ask them if they are unenlightened...or closeted

pathetic
Prayers for Bobby will reach MILLIONS and this dork won't reach 10.
Buh hahahaha

This video reminds me
that I need to work on my overhead smash!

Possible?
"We believe that people are not born with SSA and that changing from gay to straight is possible."

Possible is highly skeptical.  The real question is why should they (we) change and why is it seen as so beneficial other than to make everyone else (family, friends, co-workers, the Religious Reich) feel better?

SSAD
Didn't you see the Boston Legal episode? They call it, ssad (that's "sad" with a lisp at the beginning).

SSAD is to psychology what intelligent design is to biology, and partial-birth abortion is to medicine -- Focus-group tested terminology intended to sound scientific while swaying opinion.

Personally I prefer "PAG" - "pray away the gay" - because it sounds as stupid as the whole idea really is.

The scary part about this is that they always have a comeback, "Well, it would have worked if you prayed hard enough and took your treatment seriously."

Donny McClurkin
AND, DON'T FORGET ex-gay Donny McClurkin, who denounced gays and claimed to have been "cured" at Obama campaign rallies in South Carolina.

These people do not deserve any more of our time....
I can care less anymore what these people think of me anymore! People are coming around and understanding what it truly means to be gay and that scares these people because others are going to realize what frauds they are. I'm not gonna lie, I watched this movie and cried for about an hour and a half.  Mrs. Weavers portryal was some what akin to what a friends family did to him. Thankfully he did not kill himself. But he, like many GLBT, have thought that this was the solution. I hope (yet doubt) this movie would fall into the hands of those whose families are struggling with their god and their child. The movie for me was absolutely touching!! If you ever notice, these fundies only roar when they know that people are going to see something like this and come to a better understanding of being gay, and that God does love all his children!!
"Before you echo Amen in your home or place of worship, think and remember, A child is lisetning."-Mary Griffith
Beautiful movie but then again I'm gay and could be a little biased....

Finished watching this movie last night
And I balled like a baby.

My partner turned to me and said, "Maybe you should buy a copy and send it to your mom."

I said, "Yeah, I could but she wouldn't watch it."

I wish she would because she has done everything that Mary Griffith did...right down to the sticky notes on my bathroom mirror.  If I hadn't walked away and never looked back, I would have been Bobby Griffith.

These people have destroyed families and the love that should be unconditional between parents and children.  I have a 17 month old and I can't imagine ANYTHING that would make me turn my back on my child or listen to a bunch of strangers before listening to her.

These people make me sick.

Prayers for Bobby touched me
I was glad I taped the second time I saw it, the first time I missed the first hour.
The saddest part was Bobby almost made it through his self actualization, he had a cousin who supported him, he visited MCC, he had met a gay man who had parents who accepted their son.
It was so close, but not enough.

Cohen's words...enough to make ya' gak...
And..."You've got to feel it to heal it."

Feel this.  If we could pray shit away...lots of the h8ers would no longer be around.

Turn on some dance music and watch this guy
Amazingly, he actually has rhythm.

"Over the past twenty years we have developed groundbreaking, successful solutions to these highly volatile issues through Coming Out Straight  for individuals, and Gay Children, Straight Parents for families."

Once again, "ex-gays" can't speak without advertising their personal "change" story, and trying to sell some book of theirs.

What whores.

It's a business, after all. How many "ex-gays" are out there who aren't trying
to make a profit off of it?

Seems that if I was one of those who believed God/dess was  asuper powerful being who could make/fix anything and I was trying to recruit more folks to the cause - being "cured" of gay would be a pretty strong testimony (recruitment tool) that I'd be out there evangelizing to everyone.

The church I was raised in (and plenty of others I've attended) regularly had folks up there to talk about how God/dess had saved them from alcoholism, gambling, drug addiction, health issues....

But you never hear from any of these "cured ex gays" except when they are trying to get money for something.  And if it's ever questioned where the "multitudes" are - well, they're just protecting their privacy.

Degree after name is a dead giveaway
Almost any time someone feels the need to list their degree (as in "Richard Cohen, M.A.") you know they're at least insecure, and quite possibly a phony.

Most people I know don't even bother putting their degree on their business card.  I think people simply assume that a lawyer has his/her JD, a doctor his/her MD and a college professor his/her PhD.  There's no need to call attention to it.  Likewise few of my colleagues have their PhDs framed and on their office walls--some, just not very many.

A child is listening
In the book, "Prayers for Bobby" and at the end of the movie, Mary Griffith says to the gay-haters, "There are children like Bobby sitting in our congregations. Unknown to you, they will be listening to your 'Amens' as they silently cry out to God in their hearts. Their cries will go unnoticed for they cannot be heard above your 'Amens'. Your fear and ignorance of the word gay will soon silence their cries. Before you echo 'Amen' in your home or place of worship, think and remember...a child is listening."

AND THAT IS WHY I CANNOT FORGIVE BARACK OBAMA for sending Donny McClurkin to denounce gays at Obama rallies in South Carolina.

That is why my family went to DC to protest Obama's choice of Warren to give the invocation at the inauguration.

AND THAT IS WHY I won't believe a word Obama says in support of gay rights until he apologizes for his disgusting, hateful, and anti-American attacks on gays and uses some of his political capital to enact equal civil rights for gay Americans. He has a huge amount of atonement to do.

Sorry, to be in such a mood, but I watched Prayers for Bobby tonight and I do not find it powerful or uplifting. I've known too many gay people who died at their own hands or the hands of God-inspired bigots. The only thing that would have made me feel any better is if Mary Griffith had admitted she murdered her son, and then put a gun in her mouth and pulled the trigger.
