The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

A whining, unhinged anti-gay rant from across the pond

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Feb 02, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EST

The homobigotry across the pond is just as entertainingly desperate as the stateside BS. The only difference is that in the U.K. LGBTs have more rights than most of us here in the U.S. That difference is bunching the panties of Peter Hitchens, who whines in his column in the Daily Mail, "We show tolerance to 'gays' and get tyranny in return."
If I never again had to read or write a word about homosexuals, I would be very happy. I really don't want to know what other people do in their bedrooms. But these days they really, really want us all to know. And, more important, they insist that we approve. No longer are we allowed to keep our thoughts to ourselves, while being polite and kind.

We are forced to say that we think homosexuality is a good thing, that homosexual couples are equal in all ways to heterosexual married couples. Most emphatically, we are compelled to agree that homosexual couples are just as good at bringing up children as the children's own grandparents. Better, in fact.

Many people who believe nothing of the kind now know that their careers in politics, the media, the Armed Services, the police or schools will be ruined if they ever let their true opinions show. I am sure that many of them regularly lie about their views, to avoid such trouble.

Oh, please. Give these folks a fainting couch. Discrimination is wrong. Heterosexism and heterosupremacy has been the norm, and a mere turn to recognizing that this isn't how things should be when it comes to civil law has turned these folks into victims.
We cringe to the new Thought Police, like the subjects of some insane, sex-obsessed Stalinist state, compelled to wave our little rainbow flags as the 'Gay Pride' parade passes by.

And that's another thing. We can't even call homosexuals 'homosexuals' any more. This neutral word is not considered enthusiastic enough. We have to say 'gay'. Which is exactly why I don't, apart from in inverted commas.

You think I exaggerate the power and fury of these forces? The totalitarian rage on this subject is quite astonishing. I have had several brushes with it, and been called rude names by its militants.

Wow. What is it with folks like Hitchens and the fundies on our shores?

Hat tip, Mustang Bobby at Shakesville and Bark Bark Woof Woof, who titled his post, "Sphincter of the Day" and noted:

This particular dyspeptic rant is based on a custody in fight in Britain.  There are numerous issues involved, but Mr. Hitchens seems to blame the whole sordid affair not on the people involved but on the fact that lesbians are a gay male couple* is involved and therefore "tolerance" must win out over everything.  If that's not a straw man of Ray Bolger proportions, I don't know what it is, and Mr. Hitchens is using it as an excuse to basically come off like a churlish boor who insists that his right to be insufferable must win out over all else.

Mr. Hitchens is the younger brother of gadfly Christopher Hitchens, who is also well-known for being outrageous just for the sake of it.  Their family reunions must be a hoot.

I knew it!
As soon as I started reading the tripe quoted from Peter H, I knew that he had to be related to Christopher H.

I wonder if Peter is as big a drunk as Christopher?

I have yet to see anyone say that gays are "better" parents than heterosexuals.  That must just be in Hitchens' addled mind.  Sad that even suggesting that sexual orientation has no bearing on one's fitness to be a parent drives him crazy.

If homophobes have to live in the closet, then so be it.  Gays and lesbians had to make a life there for millenia.  Settle down and enjoy it, Peter.

Some gays.... some heterosexuals
Some gays are better parents then some heterosexuals.

But, the fundies can't admit that, so they would have us believe that categorically a crack-addicted, child abusing, spouse=battering, heterosexual on death row for murdering his wife and children, is a better parent than any gay person could ever be.

Taking Christopher's book off
My website.  As an atheist, I liked his interview and rant against Jerry Falwell on the Anderson Cooper's 360 show, but now knowing more he is a pompous homobigot blowhard like his brother.

Same-Sex Marriage is good for the economy.

Hello Charles
I'm not a big fan of Christopher Hitchens since he became a war monger and promoted the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

However, I've always thought he was good on gay rights.

Perhaps, he has matured over the years on the issue. Take a look at my comment below, " You want to really send Peter over the edge?"

Whine to someone who cares about your outdated opinions
Per Mr. Hitchens:
We are forced to say that we think homosexuality is a good thing, that homosexual couples are equal in all ways to heterosexual married couples.

How is treating people equally a problem?

Please!
If I never again had to read or write a word about homosexuals, I would be very happy.

There would be a lot of people very happy if you didn't write this kind of B.S. anymore.

It's tradition, that makes it okay. Hip-hip hurray it's weasel stomping day!
Weird Al Yankovic - Weasel Stomping Day

Read old magazines from the 1960s
You'll find crap like this written about African Americans. Bigots used the same arguments against desegregation. They wrote that their freedom of choice was being eliminated -- ignoring the freedoms of others.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

- Abraham Lincoln.

We have a saying in Blighty...
"Don't believe everything you read in the Daily Mail". The Daily Mail (AKA the HateMail, the Daily Fail) is basically a tabloid-trying-to-be-a-broadsheet version of Wing Nut Daily, only with less emphasis on religion since the UK is largely agnostic/atheist. The paper has a particular reputation for stoking racism, homophobia and euroscepticism (hence "HateMail").

Incidentally the two children were adopted by a gay male couple, not by a lesbian couple.

Thanks for the Correction

Thanks for the catch, tavdy.  I'll correct it.

Do you like it?

Did it snow?
Did it ever! Six inches, and it still managed to almost completely shut down London and most of the South-East and East. This is despite the fact that snow was forecast almost a week ago, meaning local councils had plenty of time to get the gritting trucks ready.

It's very pretty though.

Six inches is nothing to sneeze at.

[ Parent ]
I just found out we've got another food heading our way...
and it'll hit my area tonight. My town only got about 3 inches, and my local council was one of the few sufficiently competent enough to get thr gritters out in time, but people were still unable to get to work since Bedford is a commuter town for London.

Poor Peter the Tormented
I really don't want to know what other people do in their bedrooms. But these days they really, really want us all to know.

I agree and I can honestly say I've never had a discussion with anyone about what they do in the bedroom.

Since Hitchens is intent on hoisting hetero-supremacy upon everyone, I guess he's forcing me to thing about what he does in his bedroom. That's disgusting, and I'm heterosexual!

This is why a friend keeps telling me, "It's not about the 'homo', it's about the 'sexual'."

Many people who believe nothing of the kind now know that their careers in politics, the media, the Armed Services, the police or schools will be ruined if they ever let their true opinions show. I am sure that many of them regularly lie about their views, to avoid such trouble.

I'll bet these same people hide what they think about blacks, Jews, Muslims, women, and God only knows who else because their opinions on those groups are also frowned upon in public discourse.

What's most interesting about this is how powerful he thinks gays must be to force an entire nation to drop to their knees and cowtow to gay demands.

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. -- John F. Kennedy (inspired by Dante's Inferno)

He must have been unhinged by his creepy bisexual brother
who recently kissed Patient Less Than Zero and asked for tongue.

You want to really send Peter over the edge?
Send him some of his brother's writings on gays. I wonder what Peter would say about this:
I would first have to answer the question: How do gay marriages threaten or challenge heterosexual ones? And with this comes another question: Why are the advocates of the one and only and immemorial man-woman marriage apparently so chronically insecure?

You gotta love Christopher at times. He can be so mean in the most delightful way. I quite agree with him that gays can be used to torture the bigots of the world:

When I become bored or irritated by the gay marriage battle--and I do, I sometimes do--I like to picture the writhing faces and hoarse yells of the mullahs and the fanatics. Godless hedonistic America, not content with allowing divorce and pornography, has taken from us our holy Taliban and our upright Saddam. It sends Jews and unveiled female soldiers to our lands, and soon unnatural brotherhood will be in the armed forces of the infidels. And now the godless have an election where all they discuss is the weddings of men to men and women to women! And then I relax, and smile, and ask my (gay) neighbors over, to repay the many drinks and kind gestures that I owe them.

Rude names?
How horrible!  That's certainly worse than having one's rights restricted by the government or being beaten by right-wing thugs.

Big Brother is watching...and they call him "God".
We cringe to the new Thought Police, like the subjects of some insane, sex-obsessed Stalinist state, compelled to wave our little rainbow flags as the 'Gay Pride' parade passes by.

Stalinism?  Yeah, right.  Those evangelitists (as well as Islamists) are the Stalinists of today's society.  Like what Stalin did to the Jews, Ukrainians, and anti-communist defectors, the homobigots would try to do the same thing to the GLBT community.  We have bigots like Peter LaBarbera, James Hartline, and Matt Barber trying to purge the gay community (while acting like they were being "victimized").

As usual, it's sex
I really don't want to know what other people do in their bedrooms. But these days they really, really want us all to know.

Who is talking about the bedroom?  I find it hilarious when fundies say homosexuality is just about sex.

How often to you hear gay activists talk about sex, compared to anti-gay activists?

They're more infatuated with gay sex than we are!

ya probably can't even call Hitchens a DRAMA QUEEN,,,,that ain't right

no but I did read the article on 365gay
that the Mormon Church is now admitting that they spent $190,000 in passing Prop 8...they lied...not to mention what they told their mindless parishoners to do...disgusting.

and I was thinking this morning that I actually like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Yes, even they are on my don't listen list.

Peter Hitchens - As quoted in "A whining anti gay rant from acros the pond"
I wonder, could Peter Hitchens be a repressed homosexual?  Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much!

Also, I note, the discrimination he is bleeting on about, is little compared to the discrimination gays once experienced in this green and pleasant land, and that not so very long ago.

I am straight myself.   However, I am very much an eccentric.  Consequently, I am a very big fan of the late Quentin Crips, who, to use his own words on the subject, was "One of The Stately Homos of Olde England.

Richard
