The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

'Victimized' AFA launches anti-gay 'Silencing Christians' web site and video

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Feb 09, 2009 at 09:00:00 AM EST

(Hi folks from LiveJournal's ontd_political. I thought the graph was so funny that I had to add it.)

This is all the American Family Association has left, folks, but it's slickly produced bile. When homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing state legislator Sally Kern cited the book After the Ball as the proof of the Homosexual Agenda last week at a fundnut fest in OKC, it should have been no surprise that the AFA has been propagandizing this nonsense with its web site and hour-long video, Silencing Christians.com.

The premise is that Christians are under assault by homosexualists, enabled by state and local governments and schools, to force them to accept LGBTs as -- gasp -- human beings deserving of civil rights! They are careful to mention "former homosexuals" and those struggling with "unwanted same-sex attraction" in order to soothe and absolve the target audience of "Christians" that their motivations are rooted in compassion, not bigotry.

A Blender sent me the text of a breathless e-blast from Tim Wildmon of the AFA that promoted the video (and, of course, asked for a donation); it's slated to run in Grand Rapids, MI today. See the video, "survey" and the email below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: 'Victimized' AFA launches anti-gay 'Silencing Christians' web site and video

Dear XXX,

Local network television stations will soon begin airing a new television special produced by the American Family Association.

Most Americas get their information about the homosexual movement from the secular news media and Hollywood, which not only support but promote the gay agenda.  What people know is tainted by pro-homosexual propaganda.

AFA now presents this one-hour special to reveal the truth about the radical homosexual agenda and its impact on the family, the nation, and religious freedom. "Speechless" - the title of the television special - will air in the Grand Rapids area Monday, February 9.  You can watch it locally at 7 p.m. on WOOD, channel 8.

* The TV Special will reveal the truth about:
* The claim that homosexuals are born that way and cannot change.
* The negative impact on children resulting from schools promoting the gay lifestyle,
* Protected minority status for homosexuals.
* Same-sex marriage, and
* Legislative initiatives like Hate Crime and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

And, it will:
* Attack the major lies of militant gay activists head-on.
* Alert viewers about what's at stake for the family if they get what they want.
* Present helpful information to stop the radical homosexual political agenda.
Visit our website to learn more about the entire series of "Speechless: Silencing the Christians."

Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to help us continue?

Sincerely,
Tim Wildmon, President
American Family Association

In the video, they hail loons like anti-gay activist Michael Marcavage and Mayor Jim "robo-potty" Naugle of Ft. Lauderdale as freedom fighters by couching them as protectors of free speech and public health.

What's sickening about this crap is that you could wind the clock back and substitute "interracial marriage" or "integrating schools" as against their personal religious beliefs and hear the same sad arguments from the people interviewed in this video. The whole "what about the children" hysteria was specifically cited when two people of different races wanted to marry. Discussions of "preferential treatment" and "forced hiring" of members of the oppressed group were cited as an assault on Christian beliefs back in the day as well. Do these people not read history books?

Of course they try to blunt that fact by declaring because LGBTs didn't "sit at the back of the bus" or were subject to "blasts from firehoses" as blacks did, therefore, they don't deserve civil rights. Better yet, they cite the success and existence of "ex-homosexuals" as proof that change is possible and gays simply need to buck up and stop "the behavior."

But think about it -- these fundies will spend their last dime to air this BS around the country, and where are our counter videos exposing their hate and attempt to control Americans' wombs and private consensual behavior. Look at this balanced survey running on the "Silencing Christians" web site:

Do you believe the Bible condemns homosexuality as sin?   Yes   No   Undecided

Can homosexuals change their sexual orientation? Yes   No   Undecided
Should homosexuals be allowed to adopt children? Yes   No   Undecided

Should homosexuals be given the same special rights extended to African-Americans and other minorities? Yes   No   Undecided

Should hate crimes legislation be passed that would call for more severe penalties for crimes against homosexuals? Yes   No   Undecided

Do you believe that churches and religious organizations should be forced to hire homosexuals? Yes   No   Undecided

Would you support a boycott of a major U.S. corporation that contributes money to support homosexual activist organizations? Yes   No   Undecided

Should judges be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court who support extending special rights to homosexuals? Yes   No   Undecided

Should employers be forced to extend special consideration in the hiring of homosexuals? Yes   No   Undecided

Is the secular media demonstrating a bias in favor of the homosexual agenda? Yes   No   Undecided

Do you support amending the U.S. Constitution to limit marriage to a union between one man and one woman? Yes   No   Undecided

Should children in public schools be taught homosexuality is normal, acceptable, and equal to the traditional marriage of a man and a woman? Yes   No   Undecided

Do you agree that Christians should be arrested for speaking against homosexuality in public places? Yes   No   Undecided

Will the professional LGBT organizations leave this disinformation to be disseminated without effective counter-programmiong as pro-LGBT legislation moves forward on the Hill? The AFA and groups like it are laying the groundwork for two reasons -- solidifying their foot soldiers and to scare Christians who may be on the fence about extending civil rights to LGBTs. As they did for Prop 8, rest assured these fringe operatives of hate will execute effective calling/faxing campaigns to elected officials and members of Congress to snuff out advancement of civil rights. Will we be caught asleep at the wheel again?

what gets me...
What gets me about all these 'anti' movements, is that if you don't want to be homosexual or don't want to marry the same sexed person...then don't! NO ONE is forcing ANYONE to marry someone of the same sex. But these people want to make everything LAW. For me and mine, I don't think abortion is a good idea. But that's me. If you want/need to have an abortion that is between you and your conscience. It has no impact on me.

These people talk about what is moral. It seems to me if you do your conscience and don't do something that you believe is wrong when it is legal, in your mind that should make you a more moral person rather than NOT doing something when that something is ILLEGAL.

Countering the lies
I have engaged Don Wildon in debate over at his facebook page, where he promotes a boycott against Pepsi and shills his book and website, and online gift shop of hate and intolerance. He has made a long list of claims, most of which are outlined above. I asked him for any documentation for his claims and he refused to do so. He said I could buy his book if I wanted documentation. But I suspect that actual, real references are going to be sadly lacking in such a dishonest book and I wouldn't line his pockets to the amount of $24.95. This is a man who has a great deal of nerve to even call himself a christian.

They don't do "documentation"
...or "sourcing" -- except for the Bible, which they consistently use and abuse to promote their own fear-based foolishness, all in the name of pumping up their bank accounts or enabling their secret drug and gay sex-fueled lives.

I'm not so sure that their outright nonsense requires rebuttal, but does require a genuine outreach by people so-inclined within the "movement" (such as it is) and our communities to people of faith.  Just as there is a certain segment of irredeemably stupid people -- those dead-enders who could support G.W. Bush to the end -- there are religious wackos who will go for this stuff no matter what.  I do not believe, however, that the majority of religious people of good will cannot be reached and would not ultimately understand and agree that "the gays" are just as deserving of rights, as human beings and as Americans, as anyone else.  It's WJWD, I do believe.

They don't even properly use the Bible
The one thing that steams me about Christianists ranging from the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church to the backwoods bible-thumping preacher railing against LGBT people, is that none of them actually reads and understands Sacred Scripture.

I agree with you that we need to be mobilizing people of faith within our communities, and our allies, and that we are the ones with a Judaeo-Christian moral high ground.

The bible verses that deal with trans people are all positive.  The bible verses that allegedly deal with homosexuality are all misunderstood.  At worst, just as one example one might argue that Orthodox Judaism can count among its 613 commandments the idea that one particular kind of sex act between men is an "abomination" on the same order as wearing a cotton-polyester shirt. (This, however, is omitted from Christianity by virtue of Acts 15, though avoidance all sorts of "sexual immorality" remains the rule, the prohibition of the one particular male/male sex act was a part of the cleanliness code, not a sexual immorality) - In context, one must also recognize that the bible is fairly explcit in 1 Samuel 18 that David and King Saul's son Jonathan entered into a (marriage) covenant, and that when David later also married Kin Saul's daughter Michal, David became Saul's son in law a second time (many translations mess this up, for some reason).  Tee only conclusion I come to is that any sexual activity between the two of them did not include the particular activity.

Romans 1, the only chapter used to denounce lesbians, must be read with the understanding that it is sinful for people to act against their nature.  For instance, it was arguably sinful for me to have married my ex in 1979, knowing that I was trans (there is the mitigating factor that at the time, I was hoping that marriage would help "cure" me, making the sin a venial one).

I could go on and demolish the Christianist allegations verse by verse, but this has been done many times in other contexts.  We need to keep reminding people of faith that there is not only one Christianist way to look at the Bibkle, there is also a Christian way.

You reminded me
Rabbi Schaktman, in his testimony before the House judiciary committee here in Hawaii last week, said something interesting:

"Let's talk about the word of God. I know a little something about the word of God. I'm probably the only person here who has read the original text. And I am sick to death of so-called 'followers of God' demonizing select few of His children. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because the people there failed to honor to desert custom of treating a guest as sacred. Homosexuality had nothing to do with it and bigots need to stop pimping this as a reason to hate gays."

Just as a personal note, I think all organized religion should be done away with. It is an irredeemable institution that endorses hate and keeps people stupid, and has been so since the beginning. We have gained NOTHING good from organized religion.

The gall of these
fundies is stunningly unmitigated.

What gets me outraged is that

1) these fundies are blantantly using racial appeals to get AA support.

2) this s**t is about a lot more than the right to marry, it is about our destruction.

Precisely
The testimony I heard last week from opponents of the Civil Unions bill during the committee hearing was simple: civil unions are just gay marriage lite, and gay people don't have the right to be married because they're not real people. God hates them, God will destroy us if we let gays have any rights, and the state has no business supporting this disgusting lifestyle.

They're not even pretending it's about marriage anymore. The gloves are coming off, and they're advocating for our death, deportation, or internment. We're not even people to them, let alone citizens with Constitutional rights.

And Anti-Semitism
Wildmon's disdain for Jews is well known and has been documented by the ADL. He doesn't like Jews because they are "more accepting of homosexuals."

Meanwhile Junior runs a tour company that arranges for groups of Christians to visit Israel. Presumably, this is a rapture-ready endeavor.

--Do homosexualists believe in homosexualism?

--Do homosexualists have homosexual lists?  And what's on them?

The Christianist Right Wing's BIG LIE tactics
I'm not going to explicitly cite another right wing political movement because of Godwin's Law, but the tactic known as the "big lie" is alive and well, and being practiced by folks like Donald Wildman (intentionally misspelled), and his brethren, whose target audience is their fellow wingnuts.

They have a 1st Amendment right to share their Big Lie, and we have a 1st Amendment right to point out that they are not Christian and do not follow a Christian creed, except in form, certainly not in substance.  We have every right to expose their lies - both from a constitutional perspective and from a religious perspective.

It is we who have the moral high ground, and for whom the struggle is a just cause.  Wildman represents the same forces that struggled against freedom for African-American slaves, citing the Bible (Genesis 9:20-27), and calling the slaves "Children of Ham."  They are the same forces that argued in the 1830's and 40's that the Married Women's Property Act would "destroy the sacred institution of marriage" (which was built on complete legal control by the husband of all property of the wife, with the wife experiencing the same sort of legal "civil death" one reserves for felons convicted with a life term).

They resisted giving women the right to vote.  They championed "separate but equal" for the races, and they sucessfully beat back the ERA (with lies! as they always do).

We have to remember that these people are not really entitled to use the word "Christian" to refer to themselves.  Even that is a part of the lie.

Joann

P.S. I think we actually need people like Wildman, Fred Phelps, and James Dobson.  The fact is, they make themselves look bad.

One thing jumped out at me
In their survey, they quite clearly refer to civil rights for African Americans as "special rights."  How many back citizens would agree with that assessment?  Even more to the point, how many anti-gay black pastors would agree with it?  The Christers have tipped their hand with this one.  Not that there was ever much doubt about where they're coming from.

File this one under enough rope.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.

I also see that on the "silencing christians" web site is a link that says "Request Your FREE Copy of this Book Today!" (of course, it's their book). When you click the link, a page comes up for you to fill in name, address, and telephone. Nothing else on that page. No "what I'm signing up for", no terms and conditions, nothing. Just "give us your information, so we can do whatever we want with it".

HEEELLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!
Mid/late 1970's - these "christian" nuts were pushing for the execution of all gay USA citizens (with the blessings of Jerry Falwell).

Early 1980's - these "christian" nuts were pushing for the execution of all gay USA citizens (with the blessings of Jerry Falwell).

2008 - these "christian" nuts are screaming "HEEELLLLLLLPPP!!!  WE'RE BEING OPPRESSED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WE TRIED TO HAVE KILLED OFF, NOT ONCE IN THE PAST 30 YEARS, BUT TWICE.  WE WEREN'T SERIOUS, WE WERE JUST TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT!  HEEELLLLLLLLPPPP!!!!  OPPRESSION!!!!"

I couldn't watch very much of it.
That woman talking was sickening.  She talks like she is the smartest nut job on the planet and seems proud of her ignorance.  Someone needs to throw a jalapeno cream pie in her face.

Right. So silenced that they can make a website about it.
When will the discrimination end?

I can't believe........
That they actually counted the number of gay characters on TV. I wonder if they counted American Idol contestants with that.

No matter how thin you slice it, it's still boloney.

Lord, watch out!
Fair warning - you might not get strangled here, but American Idol fans can be as cultish and nutty as the AFA.  If there's one thing that'll make Claymates send out death threats like they're going out of style is when you accuse their favorite Idol contestant of being gay.  Even when they're already gay.

Silence = death and death of rights
I agree with Pam.  Our community should address these lies, they seem outrageous to us but unfortunately, some people will believe this propaganda and will think that it's "the truth" because no one refutes this garbage.

What worries me
If you look at the location where this is begin aired, coupled with the fact that Wood TV 8 is the only TV station in the area that would show this piece of s@!t (well most of Grand Rapids is owned by DeVos and Amway). The Kalamazoo station, WWMT 3, CBS, is too "liberal" (heck, they are showing the President's address and than going back to 2 and a half men!).

Add to the mix, Kalamazoo is about to be a battle ground as we fight for a non-discrimination ordinance. (Guess who is helping the opposition to the ordinance?? I'll give you a clue, their name has Family in it.)

This is not 100% directed at Kalamazoo and the fight here, in fact its directed at the wider LGBT rights movement and to raise funds for AFA. But it is going to make our arguements more difficult to deliver.

nothing new at this time.....

Also
if you know of any REALLY negative things said by AFA and where I can get the quotes, let me know. I need to send a polite, but firm email or letter to Wood TV 8.

Strange
Of course they try to blunt that fact by declaring because LGBTs didn't "sit at the back of the bus" or were subject to "blasts from firehoses" as blacks did, therefore, they don't deserve civil rights.

I don't recall Christians being forced to "sit at the back of the bus" or being "subject to 'blasts from firehoses'" either, but they still have civil rights.

In a similar vein...
From the existence of numerous "born-again" Christians, we obviously know that Christianity is not an inborn characteristic.  Since your religion - a characteristic, and to some degree (varying from person to person) a set of practices - is something you choose, you should not be entitled to any legal protection for it.

(Of course, sexual orientation is not a characteristic one chooses; ask ANY of us.  The point of the comparison is to use the religionistas' own assumptions - such as the "choice" B.S. - to destroy their line of argument).

Return of "The Gay Agenda"
I guess they thought the little propaganda piece from the early 90's needed a sequel.

Agenda? Really, you're gonna go there?
Agenda? You accuse others of having an agenda? Well, let's see, you cats have been rocking this whole "New Tesatament" agenda for a couple of millenia, the whole "Protestant" one for about 500 years, the whole "evangelical" one for about 125 years, about 100 for the modern "pentacostal" one, the whole "fundamentalist" agenda, the AFA agenda, etc. and so on. You people are about the most agenda ridden people in the world and your agenda is one of exclusion, discrimination and frankly, hate. So to cry about someone else's "agenda" is patently insane.

Crapatron 9000!
Most Americas get their information about the homosexual movement from the secular news media and Hollywood, which not only support but promote the gay agenda.

Yeah - because last time I turned on Eyewitness News on KSTP, the anchor leaned forward with a raving, amyl nitrite-induced glint in his eye and implored me, in the strongest possible terms, to attack nearby St. Paul with Weapons of Ass Destruction.  (You know - the ones manufactured by Sodom Hussein and his Ba'athhouse Party).

Oh, wait.  I saw nothing of the kind.  (KARE-11, not KSTP, is the one with the gay weatherman).  Apparently, all it takes to "support and promote" is a failure to join the amen chorus of condemnation.

What people know is tainted by pro-homosexual propaganda.

Predictable Rhetorical Tactic #287,506: Characterize your opponents as merchants of "propaganda".  Your positions, of course, are as unassailably true as the proposition that two and two are four - even where they involve things that are undeniably matters of belief and opinion.

the radical homosexual agenda and its impact on the family, the nation, and religious freedom.

For the sixteen trillionth time: recognizing intestate inheritance rights for my partner - rendering him eligible for a "family" health insurance plan - giving him the default rights over my health care decisions if I should become incapacitated - how do ANY of these legal incidents of marriage do a damn thing to weaken your families or relationships?  If your love, compassion, and dedication (the things that REALLY make up a family) are susceptible to destruction by events in the lives of third parties, then weren't they pretty weak to begin with?

And what would gay marriage, as such, do to your freedom of religion?  (The consumption of alcohol is legal; this hasn't resulted in the banishment of Mormonism or Islam, both of which believe strongly in temperance!)  You'd still be free to preach about what you believe to be the evils of homosexuality; indeed, you have an explicit, textual constitutional right to do just that, and the Supreme Court would be more than willing to back you up.  The only thing you'd lose would be the supposed "right" to control intimate, fundamental parts of other people's lives by way of the civil law.

* The TV Special will reveal the truth about:
* The claim that homosexuals are born that way and cannot change.

Gee.  Why don't I remember making that momentous decision?  Oh yeah.  Because I f$ck1ng DIDN'T.  But that's precisely why they have to dehumanize us, instead of merely disagreeing with us based on their religious precepts.  If they engaged us as fellow human beings, they'd have to hear our stories, which would incinerate their myths.

* The negative impact on children resulting from schools promoting the gay lifestyle,

Promoting the gay lifestyle?!?  I went to high school in the 17th-largest metropolitan area in the country, and our Health teachers couldn't even explain the simple facts of the human body without engendering a firestorm of protest from self-appointed Moral Guardians at the next school board meeting.  If teachers in a suburb of Minneapolis can't even explain what a glans or a cervix is, somehow I doubt there's sexual indoctrination going on anywhere.

* Protected minority status for homosexuals.
Hmm, let's see.  We're a discrete and insular minority, defined by an immutable characteristic relating to a fundamental aspect of human existence, and regularly suffering from discrimination that has no rational relationship to our ability to perform our jobs, enter into contracts, and otherwise fulfill the requirements of daily life.  I'd say that makes out a pretty damn good case for protected status.

Despite y'all's best efforts, a major part - if not the defining part - of the American experiment is the recognition that political freedom for governing majorities is not alone sufficient to guarantee the "good life" or the maximization of human potential.  For that, we need recognition of the dignity of the individual - recognition of certain human rights prior to, and thus not subject to, majority approval through the political process.  The legislative branch represents majorities; the judicial branch, by such mechanisms as the protected-class status central to equal protection analysis, enforces the Constitution that restrains the legislature in the name of individual rights.

* Alert viewers about what's at stake for the family if they get what they want.

Yep - instead of buying them hook, line, and sinker, other folks at the reunion will now roll their eyes at Aunt June's ramblings about how she wishes her niece would just get over that "phase" already.  OH, THE HUMANITY!!!!

Jesus H. Christ... I DON'T CARE how you guys live your lives or raise your families... I just want you to stop standing in the way of OUR lives!  Is that so much to ask?

Visit our website to learn more about the entire series of "Speechless: Silencing the Christians."

Yep... that poor, picked-on Christian kid in your local high school.  That guy who got physically attacked on the street when a gaggle of drunken atheists saw him coming out of a church.  The churches who have to fight tooth-and-nail to get city permits for their annual celebrations.  The cities of 50,000 people which feature seventeen queer social organizations but not a single church.  For that matter, those poor, silenced Christians who can afford to blow a cool million or two on a full hour of TV time in a major US city.

Forgive me, Mary - I'm going off to Betty Bushes to Vivian Vomit from this poisoned Connie Casserole.  Try to have Tallulah Tums ready for me when I get back.  ;-)

Oh Mary! Don't Ask!
*The claim that homosexuals are born that way and cannot change.

I was thinking about the whole "ex-gay" thing this weekend. I just finished a book called the Hemings of Monticello which uses the available evidence to trace the family of Sally Hemings and her children with Thomas Jefferson.

I bring this up because it is really relevant to the "homosexuals can change" argument. It is true that a small number of gays and lesbians have, apparently, found satisfying lives repressing or trying to change their sexuality. It is also true that a small number of African-Americans, like the children of Hemings and Jefferson, are light-skinned enough to "pass" as white. The existence of this extraordinary minority, however, says nothing about the large number of people who do not have that ability. Thus, the existence of so few "ex-gays" really reinforces the idea that the vast majority of us are pretty much stuck as queer - and a lot of us are perfectly okay with that.

It was a nasty poll to read through.  What vile people these AFA-ers are.  When did Christian and asshole become synonyms?  They seem to be using the wrong word on their persecution thing.  Besides, if they claim that 90% of the country is Christian and that Christians are being persecuted for being Christians, isn't that more of a sectarian thing than anything else?  Christians would have to be persecuting other Christians just going by their (pulled out of their asses) numbers.

My America includes LGBT families.

They don't miss a trick with this mess
These folks don't miss a trick. They even cite John R. Diggs as a legitimate expert. It's slick but very shoddy. No different than the earlier propaganda mess they used to put out.

Who is ready to REVOLT?
[because LGBTs didn't "sit at the back of the bus" or were subject to "blasts from firehoses" as blacks did]

Protests are nice, polite, and peaceful.
No firehoses needed.

But WHEN will our community organize a reaction to federal legal inequity that MATCHES the harm this discrimination brings to our families and children?

Will we ever get "mad enough" to inspire the use of firehoses?

Most gay leaders are terrified of appearing "too angry", "too demanding", or "too entitled".     Maybe when someone's child is taken away by relatives the day after a spouse dies [steamboater's experience; referenced on my blog], the niceties will fall away for good.

Too many in our community are NOT suffering enough to inspire any true revolt, unlike the collective experience of Women or African-Americnas during their respective struggles.

I've recently been inspired by this post:

But the aforementioned "suffering inequality" will surely drag out this process for 20-30 more years.    We will have to wait until enough people LIKE US ENOUGH.

Bleh...

Decades MORE of Psychological Abuse? - OR - Stonewall.  Nationwide.  NOW!

Oh if only we could SILENCE CHRISTIANS
what a wonderful world it would be...........

'Speechless' to air at later date
Its been postponed because the President is going to speak.

WoodTV 8 Speechless Delay

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - WOOD TV8 has pulled the paid program "Speechless: Silencing Christians" originally scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m.. This paid program will air later this week at a date to be announced.
........
The paid program just didn't feel "right" leading into the president's conference. With all due respect to the paid program, we would not usually schedule a paid program into any similar event.

Of course there have been some pissed off christians commenting.

An Excerpt from Article's comment page on Topix

I somewhat understand your reluctance in airing "Speechless" against Mr Obama's speech. The problem however is that if it airs this week, the average person will find it hard to know when it WILL air. Because many people mistrust the media to be honest and fair to the Christian faith, you will look bad anyway. This pulling of the presentation only feeds their mistrust of media. I have trusted WOOD-TV for many years. I do hope that your reasoning was correct and fairly thought through.

I can't understand why this program would be pulled.
I don't understand what President Obama being on immediately following would have to do with not putting this on. It is a scheduled hour program, not like a sports program which might not finish at the exact time that it should.

I'm the one who is Speechless at the lack of explanation regarding the pulling of this scheduled program.

I think you owe your viewers an explaination as to what doesn't "feel" "right" about this program and what leads you to believe that it is not compatible with a press conference.

Perceptions are more important than reality. And you have left us to wonder what you're real motivations might be (in light of the title of the program).

Thank you.

Well, I'm not a bit surprised. It is so like the media to come up with such a lame excuse! I wonder if they'll let people know via radio/TV of the new scheduled time? I have alerted many to watch this show; what a disappointment that is was pulled, and replaced with Hollywood junk. Is this WOOD TVs effort to also silence Christians?

I am very disappointed that WOOD-TV pulled this program tonight. It was announced in our congregation yesterday because we felt it necessary that everyone is informed with all the facts regarding the rights of Christians in America. President Obama's speech has nothing to do with this 1 hour "paid" programming of "Speechless". I thought your station would remain "bi-partisan" in all matters of media. I do hope you will be airing this program as you have said with the announcement of the date and time

Awfully talkative
for people that are supposedly being "silenced" aren't they?

I am the lizard queen!

I could only stomach part of it...

My God, that's filled with misleading information if not outright lies.  And most of the people appear to be zombie-like, brain-washed twits.

And unfortunately, many, many people will be swayed by it all.

What the heck?
So, I actually swallowed hard and decided I would try to watch the whole thing... and even with the best connection I can get, I can not stream this stupid thing.  Anyone else having the same problem?

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood... and I blogged about the trail I blazed...
