The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Raleigh, Charlotte dioceses pushing same-sex celibacy, NC marriage amendment

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Feb 15, 2009 at 11:30:00 AM EST

And the Catholic church wonders why people are leaving in droves. This article turned up in Sunday's edition of the News & Observer. The Raleigh diocese is launching a Courage ministry to "help" gay and lesbians pray away same-sex attractions. It will join leadership of the Charlotte diocese at a Feb 24 presser to back a marriage amendment in the state.
The move is part of a more aggressive push by the dioceses of Raleigh and Charlotte to march in step with the Vatican on the issue of homosexuality. On Feb. 24, the bishops of both dioceses will hold a news conference at the legislature to announce their support for an amendment to the state's constitution defining marriage as a union of a man and a woman. The effort is intended to quash the possibility of same-sex marriage, should a court find North Carolina's law prohibiting gay unions unconstitutional.

Such a bill has been introduced before, but has not drawn support from the leading Democrats who control the state House and Senate and has stalled in committee. With Democrats still in command, the bill is unlikely to gain much support this time.

This article's spin is quite disturbing, almost supportive in its overview of Courage's mission and the rest of the ex-gay movement, noting that the Vatican is also sweeping out the gay in the seminaries to "enlist the aid of psychologists in screening candidates for homosexuality and other 'psychic disturbances,'" and compares Courage to Alcoholics Anonymous.
The Catholic Church maintains that same-sex attraction is not sinful but that homosexual sex is. That has given gays and lesbians wide latitude in finding their place within the Roman Catholic Church. Nationally, there are several gay and lesbian ministries -- some that accept gays and lesbians as they are, others like Courage that view homosexuality as a problem to be overcome.

AFTERWARDS we'll talk about the queers.

The Church is blissfully "unaware" of the fact that
the American Psychiatric Association decreed back in the 60's that gayness was not a neurosis.

Exactly
Vatican is also sweeping out the gay in the seminaries to "enlist the aid of psychologists in screening candidates for homosexuality and other 'psychic disturbances,'"

Only one problem: No reputable psychologist would participate in identifying gays so that the church can discriminate against them.

Yea, but the right wing
is positively dripping with disreputable psychologists who'll be more than happy to do their dirty work for them.  It was reported last week that the Catholic Church has gone back into the business of selling indulgences.  Just imagine what they're promising to Paul Cameron and the other dopes of that stripe--and they'll eagerly fall for it.

Please, no, they're not *selling* indulgences
Yes, I know they've started a return to the practice if granting indulgences, but the idea is to spur a return to the sacrament of reconciliation (penance, confession).  Indulgences are not being sold.  Monetary contributions are not required.

If we criticize the things they actually do wrong, that should be enough.  The Church stopped selling indulgences at the time of the Council of Trent, which (too late) addressed many of the more salient criticisms of Church practices leveled at the institution by Martin Luther. The practice was further de-emphasized after Vatican II, which was an attempt to make the Church more relevant in the Modern World. (Sadly, the Church's goal since Vatican II has been to become increasingly irrelevant.)

No, but per the NY Times
a charitable contribution can get you one.

The Church has its own Psych professionals
including Paul McHugh of Johns Hopkins, who invented "false memory syndrome" and Richard Fitzgibbons of The Philadelphia Archdiocese, who is deeply into reparative therapy. They also use and cite Jeffrey Satinover.

All three are notorious homophobes and have testified before various judicial committees.

This should be no surprise
The Catholic Church maintains that same-sex attraction is not sinful but that homosexual sex is.
This is the fundie belief and should be surprise - a "kinder, gentler" way of saying, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." They further attempt to perfume their bigotry by claiming that sex outside of marriage is forbidden and it doesn't really have anything to do with whether it is opposite-gender or same-gender sex. Of course, same-gender marriage is also forbidden. According to fundamentalists (including the Catholic Church), gays are supposed to live a lonely life without a family and die with their virginity intact.

If it isn't a sin to be a homosexual, why doesn't the Catholic Church admit celibate homosexuals to the priesthood?

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. -- John F. Kennedy (inspired by Dante's Inferno)

to twist voltaire's comment on the holy roman empire
If it isn't a sin to be a homosexual, why doesn't the Catholic Church admit celibate homosexuals to the priesthood?

They are neither celibate, nor homosexual.

they are pedophiles.

Sorry if I'm kinda extreme in that. But I'm just saying what I know.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you are talking about!
What does barring gays from the priesthood have to do with pedophiles?

Courage unofficially pushes reparative therapy
Officially, Courage doesn't take a stand on reparative therapy, but that's not how a couple gay men reported how they were treated.

Courage also treats transsexualism as an extreme form of being gay.  It groups both under the heading of "sexual identity."

If you want allies, you have to be an ally.

Let's look at Sacred Scripture:
1 Corinthians 7:8-9:

8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.
9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

When the Roman Catholic hierarchy insists that "homosexual acts" are sinful for those with a "homosexual inclination," the hierarchy relies on a false understanding of Natural Law.  Homosexual acts are only sinful for those with a heterosexual inclination (they should read and understand Romans 1 with the insight that an "act in accordance with (one's) nature" is not an "act against Nature").

The Roman Catholic Church insists on celibacy as a test for a priestly vocation - to insist that all whose sexual orientation is not heterosexual must be celibate or sinful is a perversion of the message of scripture.

For that matter, the Roman Catholic Church should be urging all Catholics to be celibate - and should treat marriage as a last resort for those who can't contain themselves.  If that's the case for heterosexuals, it should be the same for gays and lesbians.

The Church should support civil marriage for non-heterosexuals if it cannot support holy matrimony as a sacrament open to gays and lesbians.

The Roman Catholic Church once again shows that its Christianist perversion of Christianity remains alive and well in these dioceses.
