Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

McDonalds denies workers comp for hero employee who took a bullet to save patron

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Feb 23, 2009 at 11:00:00 AM EST

Jesus, this is outrageous. A 21-year-old minimum wage employee at a Little Rock Arkansas golden arches was a hero -- he was shot inside the McDonalds while trying to protect a patron who was being beaten. He was denied a workers compensation claim:
A representative of the administrator for McDonald's workers compensation plan explained that "we have denied this claim in its entirety as it is our opinion that Mr. Haskett's injuries did not arise out of or within the course and scope of his employment."
WTF? Now this is the dumbest corporate move I've seen in a long time. How much time and money is McDonald going spend trying to address all of the bad press it's going to get for this BS? I'm sure a lot more than it would be to pay out Mr. Haskett's claim. After all, this was no bullet grazing.
Haskett has since undergone three abdominal surgeries and has incurred over $300,000 in medical bills.

..."McDonald's position now is that during thirty-minute orientation Mr. Haskett and the other individuals going through the orientation were supposedly told that in the event of a robbery or anything like a robbery . . . not to be a hero and simply call 911. Mr. Haskett denies that anything like that was even mentioned during orientation or at any time during his employment with McDonald's."

Did I mention that when the report of this came out and surveillance video was released of the incident, McDonald's actually charged copyright infringement and had it pulled from YouTube.  Are these people nuts?  It's like the company wants to throw gas on the bad PR fire.

Just the excuse I was looking for
to stop eating there (I know - youre asking, 'The negative health aspects of the food weren't enough?')

And corporations wonder why people hate them.

>^..^<

When you feel the urge to go to McDonalds
donate the money instead to a fund for this employee.

Good idea.

...but I wonder if the young fella has a fund set up yet.

Just another reason to not go to McDonald's
The food is bad, the service is poor, the entire restaurant is geared toward turning children into fast food junkies. The business practices of the corporation remind me of the sweatshops of the 18th century. The last time I ate at McDonald's was onboard NAS Miramar in 1989 and I wouldn't have eaten there then if I hadn't been working for the previous 23 hours without any food. I know that it is too much to hope for but I would love to see them end and never return.

Not true!!!
The employees are trained to ask them if they want a cookie or danish to go with their Happy Meal!

As Customer Is Being Beaten...
You stand behind the counter and say, "Sorry not my job."

I wonder if they will allow an employee to call 911.

Allegedly
the employee is ONLY supposed to call 911. Heaven forbid someone decides to be a decent human being and step in to stop someone from kicking the crap out of someone else.

Is He On Break?
Then, no.

That's what happened in a NYC Subway station
as a woman was being raped. The guy just stayed in the token booth and called the police. Now there's a lawsuit.

1-800-244-6227.
This is the phone number to call to leave a comment with an operator in regards to this issue.  I suggest if it bothers you as much as it does me, that you call this number and give it to everyone you know and post it on every blog that mentions this story.

The trollish sounding blogger formerly known as BURNSEY

followed through
I called and worked my way through the prompts to a representative.  I got the privately owned franchise, insurance pending, cannot elaborate on pending litigation issues, etc.  But I made my feelings known and the representative said she would "let corporate authorities know".
Thanks for the number.  Together we can make a difference.

There is no excuse for this
I say we call for a boycott until they comp this worker and take responsibility for their negligence.

Never forget that disability insurance is there to
first and foremost make the insurance company a profit.  It is also used as bait by employers to attract employees.  I learned all this the hard way - via personal experience dealing with LTD claims.  Most LTD insurance companies have a policy of outright denying claims.  This forces the injured employee to (usually) hire a lawyer and go through an internal appeals process and perhaps mediation or court.  It is a looong row to hoe and HIGHLY stressful for the injured person who often doesn't have the money or health to press on.  The insurance company counts on this, and they make TONS of money when the injured employee throws up their hands and walks away.  Social Security disability, at least under the Bush administration, played a similar game.

oops.
somehow i missed "workers comp" initially.  wc law is different in every state, unfortunately.  somehow i'm skeptical that Arkansas's laws are pro-employee.  but in any case, wc is still required commercial insurance, and the insurance company, like mcd, is out to make money, not make life good for employees.  mcd is balking probably because the franchise's premiums will shoot up if there is a payout.  aaah, the smell of deep-fried justice.

Modern living.
We're living in a time where not taking responsiblity or doing the right thing is epidemic, is the expected behavior.

Hope this works out for the former employee.

Hey, give them some credit
At least they didn't have the poor guy made into McNuggets.

McDonald's should be ashamed
On the other hand, if we had a national healthcare system, Mr. Haskett would've had his medical expenses paid.

So, we should be at least a little bit ashamed as well.
