The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

God endorses marriage equality

by: Lurleen

Tue Nov 10, 2009 at 15:01:37 PM EST

With God's help and your support, this battle can be won.
-- Gary Randall, February 23, 2009

With few votes left to count and Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed reporting an ever-increasing approval percentage for Referendum 71 (currently 53.1% to 46.9%), it is clear that the Washington electorate has APPROVED Referendum 71.  Washington is the first state in the nation to approve full domestic partnerships at the ballot box.  Starting December 3, 2009, when the law challenged by the referendum goes into effect, Washington will have domestic partnerships fully parallel to civil marriage in state law.  Over 6,300 pairs of Washington State Registered Domestic Partners can begin to enjoy virtually all of the state-level rights, responsibilities and obligations that married couples do.

From the beginning, the radical-right evangelicals behind Washington state's Referendum 71, have had the shared delusion that God takes sides, and favors them.  Oregonian Gary Randall said on July 1, 2009: (emphasis mine)

With your hard work and God's blessing, I believe we will succeed.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2009 as Randall and Stickney embarked on their campaign to hobble families:
Please join in prayer today that God will bless the effort and give us the needed signatures to put this issue on the ballot.
Upon subsequently obtaining a sufficient number of raw signatures to submit the Referendum 71 petitions to the Secretary of State, Randall jumped to this arrogant conclusion on Tuesday, July 28, 2009:
We are grateful to all of you who worked so hard and to God for His help.
On September 4, 2009 he said
I have an abiding sense that God is leading in all things.
In recruiting people to circulate campaign fliers he said, on September 11, 2009:
I am certain God is in control
And finally, on October 21, 2009 just before the election, Randall said:
...this effort has been blessed...
And finally, on November 6, 2009 when it was clear that R-71 would be approved, Randall deployed God in the pursuit of his new anti-gay project:
I believe God has called me to this and I believe He will guide us and provide the necessary funding.  Please consider a tax deductible donation to Faith and Freedom Foundation.  Thank you and God bless you.
Randall was joined by Mr. "God will get all the glory!" Ken Hutcherson, who undeservedly (and painfully prematurely) wrapped himself in the cloak of God's favor, saying on Monday, July 27, 2009:
Thank you for praying for Washington state!  Enough signatures have been gathered to try and repeal SB5688 (Everything but Marriage).

God proved He doesn't need certain shepherds from certain churches to get His will done!

Larry Stickney, Gary Randall's Washington operative, apparently also believes that God was a deciding factor in the referendum effort:

"We're believers. We're gonna pray this one in."
And indeed, Stickney literally exhorted his followers to "pray in a victory" after early returns showed that R-71 was heading towards approval.
As you may know, we have seen amazing things happen at every critical juncture of this campaign. Please join me today in getting down on our knees to lift up this effort to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Let's pray the REJECT R-71 effort across the finish line! Every family and church in Washington now and for years to come will benefit from our efforts if we win! Pray that we are in the lead by the end of today's counting!

As I said at the time, for God to influence the election after ballots have been cast would require God to change people's votes.  Thus, Stickney wanted God to tamper with ballots.  Apparently God isn't into felonious activities, since He did not deliver unto Stickney such ill-gotten gains.  I wonder why Stickney has deleted that post from the Protect Marriage Washington website.

If God really does take sides, and given that Randall & Stickney (not to mention Rep. Matt Shea & Sen. Valera Stevens) lied that the referendum was about civil marriage and not about domestic partnerships, the take-away message from the Referendum 71 experience is this:
God endorses marriage equality, and has spurned those who would twist His word into an instrument of judgment and vindictive hate.  Perhaps Pastor Joe Fuiten was on to something when he said:

God is not coercive...The idea that people ought to be free to live their life and live the way they want to - I don't object to that.
Too bad Fuiten ultimately turned his back on Him a few weeks before the election by endorsing the referendum Rejects.  If you ask me, Fuiten is a lost and conflicted soul to be pitied.

Now that God has eschewed hate and endorsed civil equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples, Gary Randall and his colleagues have a choice.  They can either accept God's endorsement of marriage equality, or turn their back on their Creator and continue to scorn his beloved children.

Ken Hutcherson's 'Minority Thought Pattern' as he defends Rush, slavery

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Nov 03, 2009 at 08:00:00 AM EST

Honest to god, it's hard to take Washingon State-based homobigot Rev. Ken Hutcherson seriously. This is a man who stood up and said he was going to take down Microsoft by buying shares and dumping them, "putting the fear of god" into the Redmond, WA software company for not hating on the gays.

The former NFL linebacker and full-time anti-gay activist has penned a column in -- irony alert here -- American Thinker -- that has to be read to be believed. He's tired of people picking on his pal, Oxy procurer and all-around fetid radio gasbag Rush Limbaugh for his Obama the Magic Negro and "Child" moniker for the President pro-American values.

I have watched the news, I have seen television, and I have heard different commentators talk about my friend, all the while knowing the things they say are lies. I am proud to be an American and proud of the United States of America, and again this makes it personal to me. I not only see Rush Limbaugh and the conservative movement in this action being attacked, but the entire foundation of what made America great.

Freedom is under attack, and we as Americans need to wake up and stop this madness in the greatest nation ever formed.

Let's talk about what seems to have happened to Rush Limbaugh. Here is a man who loves professional football almost as much as he loves America's traditions, values, and heritage of liberty. Rush has dedicated his life to the study of both football and America. He understands America and superbly communicates his understanding with millions every weekday. He understands the game of football, and has influenced it positively by being its biggest fan. Yet Rush has suffered attempts to destroy him with lies, misunderstandings and a direct effort to eliminate his influence in America...over the pretext of what? A game?

Hutch goes on to make an insane, but passionate case for honoring slavery and the masterful white men who arrived on this continent's shores and how their whips and subjugation of red, yellow, brown and black people in various ways hard work built this country. So damn unappreciated, says the reverend.

I truly believe that this is brought on by what I call the Minority Thought Pattern. Let's not mince words: the Minority Thought Pattern is the total disdain and hatred of what God has accomplished through the white male throughout history. Coming from an African-American, I know this will shock you.

I am not minimizing the accomplishments of women, African-Americans, immigrants, the religious, or anyone else who is part of America. But the white male was here on Plymouth Rock for God to use, and the Pilgrims had a great belief in that God. The nation built out of their efforts, reflecting their values (most especially their religious values), has become the light of liberty for the world and an obstacle to those power-hungry individuals who hate it.

WT ever-loving F? I'm not minimizing the accomplishments of these minorities, but I'll just go ahead now and do it. I think what we are seeing here is the Minority Lawn Jockey Thought Pattern, suffered from too much exposure to white evangelicals who prey on misguided, God-fearing black pastors from Washington State who sees them as his masters.

This is extremely personal to me. It's about a friend. When I look at Rush, I don't see a white man; I see a friend. I don't see a talk show host (a very famous talk show host); I see a friend, and friendship overrides color and political stances. I don't see a controversial figure, but a man whose heart and thoughts I know, and a man who is not a racist.

Screech....What? Barack The Magic Negro wasn't racist? How about this:

LIMBAUGH: As the economy performs worse than expected, the deficit for the 2010 budget year beginning in October will worsen by $87 billion to $1.3 trillion. The deterioration reflects lower tax revenues and higher costs for bank failures, unemployment benefits and food stamps. But in the Oval Office of the White House none of this is a problem. This is the objective. The objective is unemployment. The objective is more food stamp benefits. The objective is more unemployment benefits. The objective is an expanding welfare state. And the objective is to take the nation's wealth and return to it to the nation's quote, "rightful owners." Think reparations. Think forced reparations here if you want to understand what actually is going on.

What about his call to resegregate school buses? Or this one:

On the January 24 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh referred to Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and actress Halle Berry as "Halfrican American[s]," stating that "Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican American actress Halle Berry." Limbaugh then said: " 'As a Halfrican American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry's support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans,' Obama said." Limbaugh then conceded that Obama "didn't say it."

One more for the road:

When the reality show Survivor split competing groups by race/ethnicity, Limbaugh commented that the contest was "not going to be fair if there's a lot of water events" and suggested that "blacks can't swim."

I guess the good Rev. only watches Faux News and doesn't read up outside his boundaries. Psst, Hutch -- Rush is a race baiter. Hope you sleep soundly at night and dream about your BFF's open arms to the negroes.

Everyone has their price. The question is, was Rev. Hutch obtained during a find-an-anti-gay-black pastor fire sale?

by: Lurleen

Fri Sep 25, 2009 at 20:30:00 PM EDT

Miss Coco Peru to perform at Bellevue College Sept. 30

BELLEVUE, WASH. -- Bellevue College's Gay-Straight Alliance and LGBTQ student groups will present nationally-known screen, stage and television drag performer Miss Coco Peru in a one-person stage show at Bellevue College (BC) Sept. 30.

The event begins at 1 p.m. in BC's Carlson Theatre, on the south courtyard of the college's main campus.

The public is welcome to attend.

Miss Peru will perform the one-person show, "Ugly Coco," a work of wry humor and song based on her life and observations.

Following the performance, Miss Peru will attend the 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the college's new LGBTQ Resource Center, room 225 in BC's student union (Building C, adjacent to the campus' central fountain.)....

Bellevue College's main campus is located at 3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue, at the intersection of S.E. 28th St. and 148th Ave. S.E.).

Word is that Ken Hutcherson's Antioch Bible Church may lend their voices to the celebration.  Via bullhorn, no doubt.  But as of yesterday they hadn't filed for the necessary permit, so we'll see.

Radical-Right Catfight, Round 2: Ken Hutcherson v. "certain shepherds"

by: Lurleen

Mon Jul 27, 2009 at 18:00:00 PM EDT

After sitting out the Referendum 71 signature drive due to ill health, Ken Hutcherson is back with claws bared...for his brother Christians.
Prayer Warrior
Monday, 27 July 2009

Thank you for praying for Washington state!  Enough signatures have been gathered to try and repeal SB5688 (Everything but Marriage).

God proved He doesn't need certain shepherds from certain churches to get His will done!

mmmROW!  What a piece of work!  Ken's definition of the Christian way is apparently to take a public swipe at your brother Christian when he disagrees with you about the wisdom of certain political involvements.  (But he doesn't really disagree with you Ken, because you yourself showed doubt about the referendum early on.)

The root of this litter box dust-up is the very public refusal by Pastor Joe Fuiten and other conservative Christians to involve themselves with the referendum.  Ken is so blinded by ambition and competition that he can't see clear to agree to disagree with people who should be colleagues, and who he really didn't disagree with early on anyway.  Sad.

And are we surprised that Ken doesn't seem to notice that he was among the shepherds God did without?

Round 1 of The Radical-Right Catfight happened last week when Pastor Gary Randall put on his best passive-aggressive and said in response to Fuiten's comments on the sad state of the radical-right

I don't think people understand why he's trying to undermine the whole effort. Some people have said it's because he's not leading the charge. I wouldn't say that, but that has been said.

A final note.  We won't know if The bigot's projection of his own ego "God's will" was done until the Secretary of State completes the signature validation process.  Ken's swagger is not only unearned, it's premature.

Ken Hutcherson: Obama has no 'black experience'

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Jul 04, 2009 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

Hutcherson photo art via Mike Tidmus.

Oh man, the homo-hating pastor of Antioch Bible Church in Washington state, Ken Hutcherson, has decided to weigh in on the perceived homosexualist statements of President Obama during that White House reception last week. While the LGBT community didn't see any forward momentum in that speech, Pastor Hutch says Obama's "problem" is that he's simply not black enough, or rather, the President lacks what Hutch feels is the "correct" black background (a charge levied against candidate Obama early on by some blacks during the campaign) to claim membership in the African American community.

As usual, Hutch, who joked once about ripping off the arm of an effeminate man, goes off the rails:

"But I guess we...have to ask, 'Even though he is black because his father was, what is his "black experience"?' He doesn't have any. He was raised by a white mother and a white grandmother, so this man has about as much black experience as my Doberman Pinscher -- and I guarantee [that] my Doberman Pinscher doesn't have any," he points out. "There is nothing, nothing that compares between what the Afro-Americans went through and what homosexuals are going through now."

"A person can be as black as a piece of coal, [but] if he goes against God's biblical views, I would not support him, I would not endorse him, I would not even give a smile in his direction so people could even think that I endorse him," he states, "because God is my God, the Bible is my playbook, and I run it the way it is written."

What can you say behind that?

WA Senate Floor Debate on the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009

by: Lurleen

Mon Mar 23, 2009 at 23:49:40 PM EDT

I finally got a chance to watch the Washington Senate's March 10th debate on SB 5688, the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill.  My transcript is below the fold.  Some interesting words spoken on all sides of the debate.  I especially liked what Senator Franklin and Senator Brandland had to say.  Sometimes support comes from unexpected places.

Click here to see the video. (anyone know how to embed this sort of media??)  Fast forward to time stamp 2 hours, 5 minutes and 50 seconds into the video to find the debate on SSB 5688.

Washington's ANTI-Equality Lobby Day - with pictures!

by: Lurleen

Thu Mar 19, 2009 at 23:04:08 PM EDT

Dominic Holden over at The Stranger's SLOG has it right.  He's calling today's anti-equality rally in Olympia a Last Gasp.  The rally was organized specifically to show opposition to the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009.  The bill has already passed in the Senate, and has enough co-sponsors in the House to all but assure passage.  And the governor is eager to sign.

Holden quotes Senator Ed Murray, co-author of the bill

I think the rally is probably more of an attempt by certain organizations to find a reason for being, to fill their own coffers and keep their own organization going.  They are down in polls and down in the legislature. It is not a happy time for them.

Josh Friedes, Advocacy Director for Equal Rights Washington, adds a more sobering note.

"What they are trying to say is if you vote for this bill we will try to get you in November and look how strong we are," says Friedes. "I don't think they have that kind of strength to affect candidate election outcomes." But, he notes, anti-gay-marriage sentiment may be strong enough to pass an initiative or referendum banning gay marriage.
UPDATE:  Josh, who I've known for many years back from his days at the Freedom to Marry Coalition of Massachusetts and MassEquality, e-mailed me to elaborate on his statements, saying:
The public is not yet fully comfortable with the idea of marriage equality but the conversation around the domestic partnership bill has helped voters and legislators understand why anything less than marriage is less than equal. The good news is that public polls done by the University of Washington show that there is very strong public support for the contents of the domestic partnership bill and growing support for marriage equality. So we need time to build public support for marriage equality in Washington state. We will move a marriage equality bill when we can win a referendum. While we do this important work, LGBT families in Washington will have the  protections afforded by the the domestic partnership law.

Some personal observations of the day after the flip.  But first, please, DONATE a few bucks to Equal Rights Washington.  They are the organization standing between us and The Washington Hate Coalition.  Like most non-profits, they have had to lay off an employee due to major budget cuts.  We need them.  Please give.

Ken Hutcherson & Sidekick Give Limp Performance on KING5's "Up Front"

by: Lurleen

Sun Mar 15, 2009 at 21:38:46 PM EDT

UPDATE at bottom of post.

Last week, Washington's favorite homobigot Ken Hutcherson, pastor of Antioch Bible Church, sent out an e-mail stating

News Flash Wednesday, 11 March 2009
The Domestic Partnership (everything but marriage) bills will probably pass the House this week.  Please be praying that the sanctity of marriage will be upheld in this state.  I will be on the KING 5 TV program "Up Front" addressing this issue on Sunday, March 15.
Up Front's host, Allen Schauffler, did a great job laying out the DP/marriage issue and its history in Washington state in the show "Up Front: Gay Marriage", which can be seen here (embed code not provided, unfortunately).  Huterchson & sidekick, Joseph Backholm of the Family Policy Institute of Washington, show up at about 11:45 minutes into the story.  There is an additional, web-only segment of Schauffler interviewing them here (highly recommended for those who enjoy hearing lies and distortions flow like water from Hutcherson's lips!).

After reading Hutcherson's email Alert, I was thinking he had something big to announce, like a referendum drive.  I was disappointed.  He and Backholm seemed utterly defeated and reflected a disorganized opposition with nothing to offer its adherents.  Of course, it could be that they're just holding their cards close to the vest until the bill actually passes.  But I don't think so, because this performance must have been terribly discouraging to their supporters.  And others from their team, such as Gary Randall of the Faith & Freedom Network have been decidedly un-inspirational for some time.  Randall's latest "pep talk" went like this

Plan to attend the "Stand Up For Marriage Rally" next Thursday, March 19, on the Capitol steps in Olympia....I have heard of three churches that are bringing a bus load of people. I'm sure there will be more. Perhaps you could organize a group from your church this Sunday.
Is he defeated, or just playing coy?  Check out the transcript of the Hutcherson & Sidekick portion of the Up Front piece below, and let me know what you think.

Rivalry Among the Washington State Haters?

by: Lurleen

Tue Mar 10, 2009 at 16:49:41 PM EDT

I just received the most curious email from Ken Hutcherson.  Until now, Hutcherson has remained silent and invisible in the debate over the DP Expansion Bill of 2009.
Antioch Bible Church: Prayer Warrior

Tuesday, 10 March 2009

The domestic partnership (everything but marriage) bills could potentially pass in the legislature this week.  Please pray that the sanctity of marriage will be preserved in this state.

Please stay tuned because if they do pass, I will let you know what the next step will be.
I've been taking a wait and see policy to see who else would stand up for righteousness and no one has.

Pastor Hutcherson

"Please pray"?  That's all?  Don't you think it strange that he's not asking his sheeple to call their legislators?

And can anyone miss the thinly-veiled snipe in the last sentence at Gary Randall of the Faith and Freedom Network & Larry Stickney of the Washington Values Alliance?  It's been Randall and Stickney who, during Hutch's silence, have been testifying and marshalling the herd and dutifully producing Lie-o-rama t.v. ads.

My guess is that Hutcherson figures that there is no stopping the passage of the bill, so he's going to sit back and let his rivals fail so he can swoop in with a referendum plan and play savior.  It's a two-fer for him: he gets to piss on gays, and he gets to be king of the christofascist hill.  Until, that is, he tumbles down the mountain.  Because every grand scheme Hutch launches (bringing Microsoft to its knees, anyone?) fails miserably.

Ken Hutcherson has Prostate Cancer.

by: Lurleen

Fri Feb 06, 2009 at 14:45:19 PM EST

Homobigot Ken Hurcherson, scam artist and CEO of a megachurch that meets in a high school gym, has prostrate cancer.
"I haven't felt good for seven years, but I try not to let that effect how I treat others and how I live," Hutcherson said...

"I can either look at it as oh woes me, or I can say thank God that I am worthy to go through this to be molded to be more like Jesus Christ and to know that he's kept me here for a reason."

The reason, Hutcherson believes, is to continue preaching against gay marriage. I'ts a fight that has gained him many enemies.

"I think there's a lot of people hoping I die," he said. "That may be one of the reasons God's keeping me around."...

Still Hutcherson says, "I've enjoyed my cancer....because it's molding me. That's the thing God is using to keep my mind on him."

Hutcherson Gets Little Microsoft Support for Anti-Gay Proposal

by: Lurleen

Fri Nov 21, 2008 at 14:01:12 PM EST

Microsoft had their annual shareholders meeting the other day.  As anticipated, His Royal Homobigot, The Reverend Ken Hutcherson was there to "put the fear of god" into Microsoft for not hating on the gays.  His proposal got 4.59% of the vote, and was not approved.

The language of the wacky proposal and the official transcript of Hutcherson's defense of it before the shareholders are below the fold.  You can listen to his presentation by clicking on "Webcast" under the heading Recent Events, Microsoft Annual Meeting of Shareholders found here.  Hutcherson is introduced 16:00 minutes in.  Funny, but I don't hear anything remotely "fear of god" in there.  More like, I hear in his voice a guy who knows he's going to fail mightily.  But that's our Ken.

Also, check out the bio of the guy who actually penned the proposal for Hutcherson.  It's at the very bottom of the diary.

A Fascinating View of Ken Hutcherson's Origins

by: Lurleen

Thu Nov 13, 2008 at 19:44:53 PM EST

( - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

I like to keep tabs on the public doings of Ken Hutcherson, unrepentant homobigot.  So today's Google search turned up this fascinating video.  Apparently Hutcherson was just inducted into the Calhoun County (Alabama) Sports Hall of Fame.  And by all accounts he well deserves it.  But what struck me as I watched the video was how inspiring his story probably is to those who don't know what a dedicated bigot he became, and how he feels god is using him to do great things.

Please have a look and tell me what you think.  What I think is that he was so severely damaged by the racism and family violence he faced as a kid, he has never been able to recover.  Rather, he has learned to survive by pushing others down lower than he was pushed down.  It is a tragedy, and although I loathe what the guy does, I do feel for that hurt kid that is still living in rage in this big man's body.

I also think Hutcherson should be an object lesson to anyone not willing to reign in their own acts of bigotry.  If you are practicing bigot, don't be surprised if your bigotry comes back to bite you in the form of more Ken Hutchersons.  To the extent you do permanent psychological damage to others, don't expect them to be able to rise above and love you unconditionally later on.

Ken Hutcherson: Seattle government official is racist

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 16:00:00 PM EDT

Oh please. From the "news" organ of Don Wildmon's American Family Association, a propaganda piece to shore up the tattered rep of Seattle-area homobigot Ken Hutcherson, who is a card-carrying member of the professional "Christian victim" set. You'll recall that Hutcherson spoke at Mount Si High School's MLK, Jr. Day assembly in January. He was booed by one teacher and asked about his anti-gay views by another teacher.
Pastor Ken Hutcherson is still pursuing action against the teacher at Mt. Si High School in Snoqualmie, Washington, who interrupted his Martin Luther King Day speech to voice his opposition to Hutcherson's Christian views on marriage and sexuality. Teacher George Potratz later compared Hutcherson's support for the biblical condemnation of homosexual behavior with advocacy for slavery.

Hutcherson perceived Potratz's comment, in the context of the Martin Luther King Day appearance, as racist and complained to the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs. But after two telephone conversations with the commission's executive director Rosalund Jenkins, Hutcherson is now accusing the gubernatorial appointee of making racist comments as well.

"She said to me, 'Well, if you were the pastor of a black church, that would have much more impact than being the black pastor over there with a white church, and you're the one that has chosen,' basically, 'to live over there with those people,'" Hutcherson details.

If you want to click over and read the whole article, it all comes back to the Homosexual Agenda's alleged influence on the Commission on African American Affairs via its executive director Rosalund Jenkins and her colleagues.
While Hutcherson is critical of Jenkins, he realizes that she is just parroting the pro-homosexual leanings of her boss, Gov. Christine Gregoire. "We have a governor who is showing favoritism like never before. And it's time for us to do something out here as Christians and as African Americans and people who want right done," Hutcherson notes.
After the jump, a flashback of Hutch's wife complaining that she and her family have been on the receiving end of grief because of Ken's preaching of anti-gay bigotry.

Video break: homobigot Ken Hutcherson

by: Pam Spaulding

Whackjob. Prevaricating whackjob.

Seattle's The Stranger interviewed batsh*t crazy homophobe Rev. Kenneth Hutcherson, which is featured on the Watchmen on The Walls web site. Hutch attempts to explain away that the Latvian Watchmen group only "stands up for biblical truth", and doesn't incite thugs to anti-LGBT violence. I beg to differ. Surf some of the links below.

Pastor Hutch's personal crusade againt the Day of Silence

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 15:30:00 PM EDT

Ken Hutcherson is insane.
As over 7,300 K-12 schools observe GLSEN's 12th annual Day of Silence today, battle lines are drawn between a vocal anti-gay pastor, his "prayer warriors," and the gay-straight alliance at one high school in the Pacific Northwest.

Mount Si High School, in Snoqualmie, Washington, is undergoing what is being called retaliation for an incident during a Martin Luther King Day speech given by Rev. Ken Hutcherson of Antioch Bible Church in nearby Redmond.

Antioch, having placed a newspaper ad encouraging parents to show up at the school to picket this morning, was countered by another ad by Tolt UCC Congregational Church, voicing its support.

"We send our kids there to get an education, not an indoctrination," Hutcherson told KING 5. "It's personal," Mount Si principal Randy Taylor told the Seattle Times Thursday. "We embarrassed him at the Martin Luther King assembly. It's payback."

"Of course it's personal," Hutcherson concurred. "They embarrassed me and they embarrassed my daughter."

Hutcherson, during his January 19 appearance, was booed by one teacher and asked by another how he could promote racial equality, while at the same time speak out against equality for sexual minorities.

Steve Ralls has a report from Mount Si High School by Barb Clark-Elliott, president of PFLAG's Seattle chapter on the P-Flag National blog:
I would estimate that the group was about 100 people strong for most of the time.  Many cars drove past - some waving, some waving and honking, a police car, and a few drivers obviously not acknowledging our waving presence.  I was told that one car drove by many, many times and seemed unfriendly.  One student car drove by with The Village People's "Macho Macho Man" playing loudly..... honking and waving.

...Hutcherson and his entourage were to arrive at 10am, so we were gone, as planned, so as not to have any confrontation.  I know we were being watched by not-so-friendly persons across the street who had no interaction with us.

I talked to several parents who seemed happy to know about PFLAG and that we are very willing to come out for a meeting and to be called upon as a resource.

Ken Hutcherson Tries to Intimidate School Librarian

Ken "we will discipline you and kick you out" Hutcherson is back in the news today.  This time, for threatening to get a high school librarian fired.
Mount Si [High School] librarian Elaine Harger said she had received an e-mail from Rev. Ken Hutcherson that referred to Mount Si's Gay-Straight Alliance as a "sex club" and asked if Harger wanted to be added to the list of Mount Si teachers he was pushing to have fired.

"What had I done to justify that he would try to get me fired from my job? This is intimidation, pure and simple," said Harger.

Thursday, March 6th, homobigot Ken Hutcherson was on TBN's Praise the Lord.  It was quite interesting for so many reasons.  Watch here.  He's the 1st 20 minutes of the 2nd hour.  My thoroughly unbiased, random and rambling analysis after the flip.

Pastor Hutch jokes about ripping off the arm of a polite effeminate man

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 17:00:00 PM EST

Look at the kind of uplifting message that Ken Hutcherson, pastor of Antioch Bible Church delivers to his flock (Seattle Pi Op-Ed):
Hutcherson has gotten headlines for his efforts to pressure Microsoft on gay issues. He has a right to his views -- views he supports with texts from Scripture. Reasonable people can disagree over whether gay marriage is a good idea.

But Hutcherson goes beyond reasonable, at least to judge by the report of Seattle psychologist Valerie Tarico. Tarico, a former staffer at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, was raised in a fundamentalist church. In recent months, she has made it her business to attend services at many of the large, conservative churches in the Seattle area, including Hutcherson's, to see what's going on.

On a Sunday when Tarico was present, Hutcherson was preaching on gender roles. During his sermon, Hutcherson stated, "God hates soft men" and "God hates effeminate men." Hutcherson went on to say, "If I was in a drugstore and some guy opened the door for me, I'd rip his arm off and beat him with the wet end."

"That was a joke," Hutcherson said Friday, when I asked him about the comment. But it's not really funny, is it?

What it sounds like are the kinds of words that have paved the way for atrocities in such places as Serbia, Kosovo and Rwanda. You have to dehumanize somebody before you beat them up. Labeling some men as "soft" and "effeminate" and saying "God hates them" does that.

Hutcherson's wife: we're being harassed because of Ken's views

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 10:00:00 AM EST

I'd say bring out the tiny violin in most cases of a homophobe being publicly called out, but the family, particularly the children, of an anti-gay media-seeking blowhard like Ken Hutcherson of Antioch Bible Church (near Seattle) do not deserve to be ostracized or called names.

Rev. Hutch's wife Pat went to a school board meeting to express her dismay at the public reaction to her husband's reputation after his appearance on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Mount Si High School.  Video and much more are below the fold
