The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Oklahoma pol to file bill to counter fed hate crimes law -- or else necrophilia will be protected

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Nov 17, 2009 at 12:45:00 PM EST

Here we are, back to the land of Sally Kern, where the hot bigoted wind comes sweepin' down the plain. The hot air belching from the lips of State Sen. Steve Russell (R-Oklahoma City) is a stench to behold.
State Sen. Steve Russell, R-Oklahoma City, said the newly passed Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which extends hate crimes law protections to include actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability, oversteps the bounds of the federal government and hinders free speech and religious freedom.

"The federal government should not be creating a special class of people, and that is just what they did when they passed and signed this bill," Russell said. "All crimes against another person have some level of hate in them, and people can be assured that our laws that protect people against crimes such as murder are sufficient to protect everyone."

Russell said because the government has decided to intervene on issues of morality, he is worried that religious leaders who speak out against any lifestyle could be imprisoned for their speech. "The law is very vague to begin with," Russell said. "Sexual orientation is a very vague word that could be extended to extremes like necrophilia."

...When asked about whether the state of Oklahoma should reject the $5 million in federal funds that the federal government would give to law enforcement agencies to help prosecute hate crimes, Russell said he thought about finding a way to pass his law while taking the money, but said it would be a compromise in the values of his bill.

You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!

OK's Tom Coburn" "Government Is Not The Answer" to Healthcare Reform

by: Louise

Tue Aug 25, 2009 at 13:42:43 PM EDT

Then what is, Senator?

WOMAN: "Senator Coburn, we need help (crying) my husband has traumatic brain injury, and his health insurance would not cover him to even drink, (Crying) and, what I need to know is are you gonna help him, where he could eat and drink, we left the Nursing Home and they told us we're on our own.

He left with a feeding tube, I've been working with him but I'm not a speech pathologist, a profession though that take six years for a Masters, and I try to get him to eat and drink again and this means so much to me (crying). "

COBURN: "Well I think, first of all yeah, we'll help, uh, the first thing we'll do is see what we can do individually to help you, uh, through our office.

Uhm, but the other thing that's missing in this debate is us as neighbors. Helping people that need our help, uh, you know, we tend to, (clapping) the idea that the government is the solution to our problem is an inaccurate, a very inaccurate statement, (clapping) Government, government..."

Who does the senator, himself a physician recommend others like this woman should turn to for medical help?

Their neighbors and friends.

Good luck with that...

Sally Kern on Obama's radical homo agenda (?!) and her Proclamation of Morality

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

Are they living in some alternate reality than the rest of us? Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern  (sallykern@okhouse.gov)  the homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing bigot caught The Peter's eye with this diatribe about this "proof" of the Obama admin's godless homosexualism:
The homosexual agenda is only one symptom of the real problem in America. The problem is that we have forsaken the Judeo-Christian values upon which this nation was founded. Noah Webster declared: “The principles of genuine liberty and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the  Bible.”

There are two conflicting worldviews vying for power. The secular humanist worldview versus the Judeo-Christian or Biblical worldview. Humanism sees the world as impersonal matter shaped by chance with man just another animal. There is no basis for values or laws. The Biblical worldview recognizes a Creator who established moral laws and absolute truth as revealed in the Bible. Man, made in God’s image, is priceless.

Our founding fathers established this nation upon the Biblical worldview as evidenced by John Adam’s statement, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” Or James Madison’s statement: “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government … but upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the 10 Commandments of God.”

For the first time in America’s history, we have a president who has no understanding of the Biblical worldview and who has even less understanding of the truths of the Bible. This is evident when he says that support for homosexual “marriage” [unions] can be found in the Sermon on the Mount or that certain passages in Romans are just obscure passages. Whereas George Washington expelled from his military those who practiced sodomy, President Obama honors sodomites by proclaiming an entire month as Gay Pride Month, but he won’t acknowledge one day for our National Day of Prayer.

We'll trade you one day of bleeping prayer for a few civil rights. That's a fair exchange. More below the fold, including a copy of her incredible Proclamation for Morality.

Oklahoma: Teacher asserts he was terminated for advocating for LGBT youth

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jun 08, 2009 at 07:30:00 AM EDT

From the land of  homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing state legislator Sally Kern...read and decide which side is more likely to be telling the truth in this case.

Teacher Joseph Quigley of Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, who is also gay, found  himself at a termination hearing recently. School Board Superintendent Karl Springer's recommended the termination of Quigley, who has been with the school district since 1994, because "he wasn't following plans for improvement and didn't obey administrative directives."

Quigley's attorneys say otherwise:

"The attempt to fire Mr. Quigley, a career teacher with a stellar record, appears to be driven by some administrators after he advocated for better protections for gay and lesbian students. The legal counsel for OKCPS has relied on trumped up and exaggerated charges to make the case for his dismissal. In fact, Mr. Quigley was the subject of harassment and false charges merely because of his advocacy for gay and lesbian students and/or the fact that he is gay."
MetroStar News, an Oklahoma LGBT newspaper, reports that Quigley received consistent high marks on his evaluations for a decade -- that clearly doesn't indicate someone was unhappy with his performance in the classroom.

What did Quigley "do wrong" in the eyes of the school? Perhaps this sheds some light on the matter:

He stated that the administration "singled him out, applied a double standard, micromanaged him and has instituted a relentless scorched earth policy to get rid of him." He also pointed out that it wasn't until after 2007 that his evaluations showed him to be substandard, when Ms. Walling became his evaluator. It was clarified that his evaluations suddenly went down after 2006 , after Joe advocated the inclusion of "sexual orientation" among the groups listed in the Student Handbook to be protected from harassment and bullying.
Here we go. More advocates for the beating of LGBT youth, because, of course, in Oklahoma they deserve it -- and the advocate, needs to suffer consequences as well. Quigley and his attorneys are considering taking his case to the federal court.

What's really sad is that Oklahoma is in a race to top of the wingnuttery charts. It  was the only state that had no Blue counties in this past election, and voters in that state managed to turn Oklahoma even more Republican. Its LGBT and reality-based citizens pay the price;  this should be a reality check to LGBTs out there who are in deep Blue states with a host of civil rights and the luxury to focus on marriage equality. People in deep Red states are in the bullseye of the bigots with limited support from allies, national orgs (and elected officials practically MIA).

Dallas Principle #2: We will not leave any part of our community behind.

Oklahoma to display Ten Commandments at the state Capitol

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue May 19, 2009 at 18:00:00 PM EDT

Poor Blender Denabeth. She sent me this story, saying "One more step towards Oklahoma becoming an theocracy." The home to Sally Kern  has a legislature and governor that approved the display of the Ten Commandments at the state Capitol.  (The Oklahoman):
Had Henry vetoed House Bill 1330, it was likely the GOP-run Legislature would have overridden it, something that has occurred only once in the 61/2 years Henry has been governor. The measure easily passed both chambers: 83-2 in the House and 38-8 in the Senate.

...The American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma may file a lawsuit depending on how it fares with its challenge to a Ten Commandments monument in Haskell County, said Tamya Cox, the group's legislative counsel. "We're very disappointed the governor signed House Bill 1330," she said. "It usurped the First Amendment. Thankfully, we have until Nov. 1 before the monument could be erected, so we are going to definitely take our time."

...Sen. Randy Brogdon, Senate sponsor of HB 1330, said he is "tickled pink" the governor signed the measure.

"He chose to be with the people on this one," said Brogdon, R-Owasso. "It was widely supported by people around the state. I was pleasantly surprised."

I don't think we have to ask which way Sally voted.

Oklahoma teacher shares her story of being forced to resign for teaching tolerance

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Apr 28, 2009 at 10:30:00 AM EDT

Over at RH Reality Check, Oklahoma teacher Debra Taylor comes forward to discuss how she was forced to resign for teaching about The Laramie Project -- to highlight hate crimes and intolerance to her high school Ethics class students. (I first blogged about this story in March.)  The students decided to film scenes for an in-class project -- with the permission of the principal at the time. Then a few weeks later, Superintendent Ed Turlington canceled the class, Taylor was put on paid leave, and Turlington recommended that she be terminated.
I was challenging them to examine where and how the two young men - McKinney and Henderson - learned to hate; because hate, like love, is learned behavior. I wanted them to understand where the lessons of hate and intolerance are typically learned: parents, teachers, members of the community, even in churches. I had hoped that by using The Laramie Project each student would examine their prejudices and form healthier practices of tolerance, compassion and advocacy.

The irony is that the students learned the lesson well, but not inside the walls of a Grandfield High School classroom. They had their classroom moved into the real world where they have experienced the real life lessons of intolerance; witnessed acts promoted by homophobic fears and ideology and yes, encountered hatred. Even in this small town of 1,100 people, it's not all black and white. As one local resident told Hunter Stuart, a video journalist, "We don't live in the fifties anymore." Another told him, "I know people who are gay. I don't like what they do, but I treat them with respect."

But as one thing led to another, I asked a member of the school board to get involved. I was accused of insubordination by Superintendent Turlington and felt I had no alternative but to accept the superintendent's agreement of resignation. As the editor of the local newspaper admonished in an editorial "it was wrong to question the decisions of your superiors."

I am humbled by the fact that people across the country find the story of my students and me important. The media has become our courtroom.  The more people advocate for us against the injustices we have experienced, the better I feel about losing my job.

Here's a report by LOGO's Itay Hod; the students discuss the homophobia that resulted in Taylor's resignation.

Oklahoma: lawmakers seek to condemn university for inviting evolutionary biologist Dawkins to speak

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Mar 31, 2009 at 09:00:00 AM EDT

Wow. I guess the folks passing bills out there in Sally Kern land have a different interpretation of "academic freedom" than the reality-based community. (TulsaWorld):
State lawmakers hit the University of Oklahoma with a barrage of paperwork earlier this month, crafting resolutions to condemn the school for inviting a noted evolutionary biologist and requesting reams of information about his visit.

In response, OU President David Boren said recently that colleges and universities should be a free marketplace of ideas, and it is inappropriate for legislators to attempt to restrict speech on campuses.

The resolution, which the House didn't have time to put up for a vote, chastised OU for inviting scientist and Oxford professor Richard Dawkins to speak earlier this month as part of the university's celebration of Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

And what's sad is that one of the flat-earthers is a Dem, and the one proposing the resolution is a Republican who's truly frightening.
Rep. Rebecca Hamilton, D-Oklahoma City, filed a lengthy open records request with the university, asking for any correspondence regarding Dawkins' speech, information on any costs to OU, a list of any money Dawkins received and who provided the funds, and any other "pertinent financial information."

...State Rep. Todd Thomsen, R-Ada, filed a resolution this session opposing Dawkins' invitation to speak at OU and the university's actions "to indoctrinate students in the theory of evolution."

In a phone interview Thursday, Thomsen said the university has a right to bring any speaker it chooses, but is accountable to taxpayers. On behalf of his constituents, Thomsen wanted to present the opinion that Dawkins doesn't represent Oklahoma's ideals.

"They're not in a plastic bubble that can't be touched," he said.

Hat tips to Blenders Denabeth and Anaokla.

OK: teacher fired for showing film version of 'The Laramie Project'

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Mar 17, 2009 at 08:00:00 AM EDT

More bad news coming out of the state of Sally Kern...
The episode began in January, when Debra Taylor showed students at Grandfield High School The Laramie Project, a 2002 film based on the play of the same name, about the murder of Matthew Shepard. The students soon decided to film selected scenes themselves for an in-class project.

Taylor, 50, knew the project was controversial with strong language, but got her principal's permission. A few weeks into it, the principal told her to stop production. After students protested, she held a 20-minute ceremony in a nearby park in which students wrote their thoughts and rolled them into helium balloons, then released them.

The next day, Taylor says, Superintendent Ed Turlington canceled the class. After she complained to a school board member, Turlington put her on paid leave and recommended that she be fired. The school board approved her resignation Friday.

Taylor says she was let go for complaining to the board member, but others say it was a result of the play's subject: homophobia. "They don't want something like this addressed in our community," says senior Matt Ebner, one of Taylor's former students.

OK: hunting instructor tells Obama voters to get out

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Mar 09, 2009 at 06:00:00 AM EDT

The election has been over for months now and this loser still can't get over it. From the land of Sally Kern, look what happened to 13-year-old Lane Dunkley and his dad Daniel Reddy experienced when he took a class to receive his hunting license.
But when father and son arrived at the lesson, the volunteer instructor, Kell Wolf, asked if any of the students voted for President Barack Obama.

Reddy, a transplanted Californian - and former Marine - raised his hand.

According to Reddy and others in the room, Wolf called Obama "the next thing to the Antichrist" and ordered Reddy and Dunkley from the room. When Reddy refused, Wolf said he would not teach "liberals" and would cancel the course if Reddy didn't leave.

So Reddy and Dunkley left, as did a few others.

...Contacted on Friday, Wolf had no comment on the matter. Meek said he talked briefly to Wolf on Wednesday, and that Wolf did not deny ordering Reddy from the class or offer an explanation.

At least the hunter education coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Lance Meek, stepped up and apologized -- and offered a private class. Wolf was also told he could no longer volunteer with the department.

Oklahoma House votes to release the state from federal shackles

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Feb 26, 2009 at 12:30:00 PM EST

States' Rights! Didn't we already have a war over that a while back? How'd I miss this one from the land of Sally Kern -- Oklahoma House passes sovereignty bill. Citing the Tenth Amendment in response to the President's stimulus plan, Okie elected officials say they've had enough.
Oklahoma's House of Representatives is the first legislative body to pass a state sovereignty resolution this year under the terms of the Tenth Amendment.

The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed House Joint Resolution 1003 Feb. 18 by a wide margin, 83 to 13, resolving, "That the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States."

The language of HJR 1003 further serves notice to the federal government "to cease and desist, effectively immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers."

..."Governor Henry has his hand out for the Obama stimulus money," [state Sen. Randy] Brogdon said. "But there are a lot of us in the Oklahoma legislature that do not want the federal stimulus money because we fear the strings that are certainly going to be attached to the $900 million. We might end up in subsequent years with a $900 million entitlement program hole in our budget for years to come, just because we took the Obama economic stimulus money this time around."

But here's the rub -- Oklahoma is the Reddest state in the union (it moved more to the right in 2008, with all 77 counties voting nearly 2-to-1 for Sen. John McCain). A sample of the level of wingnuttery out of control:
Also re-elected to the Oklahoma House was a Rep. Rex Duncan, R-Sand Springs.

In 2007, Duncan refused a complimentary state centennial copy of the Quran from the Governor's Ethnic American Advisory Council.

Instead of saying a simple, "No thanks," Duncan wrote fellow lawmakers that he refused a copy because, "Most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology" and because he didn't "know of another religion or ideology that employs terrorism and the threat of terrorism.''

Months before, Duncan accepted a copy of the Bible from the Baptist General Convention in Oklahoma. He said it was a nice gift.

Nope, Christianity never played a role in killing innocents throughout history. Thanks for being such a sage, Duncan. Anyway,  it's safe to say that there are quite a few other reasons people whose views are in alignment with Duncan and Sally Kern who want to see state sovreignty in its most conservative interpretation (heck, they may want to go ahead and try to secede -- good luck with that). What else might the Oklahoma legislature want to enact in the name of states' rights? Without any federal protections, Oklahoma LGBTs are sitting ducks, easy pickings for the heavy hand of state government and the fundamentalists. I truly fear for them in this incendiary climate. Please, someone from Oklahomans for Equality weigh in here and let us know what's going on.

Hat tip, JMG.

Why does God hate Sally Kern?

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Feb 10, 2009 at 19:30:00 PM EST

Tornado Confirmed Near Oklahoma City.  Unfortunately, there's no word that Glinda the Good Witch dropped a house on a certain homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing legislator.*
More than a month away from the traditional start of the state's severe weather season, a tornado touched down in Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Tornado sirens were activated, and television news video appeared to show a tornado and debris in the air in a rural area. School children were being kept in locked-down schools until the storm passed.

Damage was confirmed at a Chuck-E-Cheese pizza restaurant, Oklahoma City TV station KOCO reported. The storm also caused damage across northwestern parts of Oklahoma City, knocking down power lines and damaging structures.

I guess God also hates Chuck-E-Cheese.

Oklahoma Heartbreak

by: sterrapin

Thu Nov 27, 2008 at 18:24:02 PM EST

(Oklahoma was the only state that had no Blue counties in this past election, voters in that state manage to vote  even more Republican. Given the disaster Bush left this country in and the lack of change presented by McCain/Palin, I feel for the progressives and LGBT community there. OK City even sent Sally Kern back to the legislature. :( - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

http://oudaily.com/news/2008/nov/25/column-oklahoma-heartbreak/

This is an excellent column from the student newspaper at the University of Oklahoma. A lot of Oklahomans are feeling this way right now -- heartsick that our state is absolutely the most backwards in the union. When you've got Christians bemoaning the same kind of myopic backtracking mindset that has come over the state, then you REALLY have problems.

"Though many are questioning why Oklahoma is shifting to the right, I believe the answer is simple.

The state is becoming more conservative because it has politicized Christianity and turned liberalism into a sin."

There is WAY more.

OK: Bigot Sally Kern, challenger Marlett debate -- and the sparks fly

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Oct 11, 2008 at 09:00:00 AM EDT

Oklahoma homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing legislator Sally Kern sticks to her story -- gays are more dangerous than terrorism. She reiterated this insanity during a debate on Thursday with opponent Ron Marlett and it turned ugly. KOCO-TV has video. Some of Kern's statements during the debate:
"It's a moral decay that's going to destroy our nation from within."

"While terrorism has killed more than 3,000 people, in the continental United States in the last 15 years, homosexual behavior has killed more than 100,000," she said. "It's a danger to life. It is a danger to health."

"Our county is united pretty much against terrorism, but homosexuality is being promoted in schools and by the government."

While Marlett does not support marriage equality (this is Oklahoma, folks), he has strongly spoken out about fomenting bigotry and denial of civil rights.
"To compare certain members of our community to a cancer that might need to be removed is chilling to me...We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal."
BTW, things got so heated that one member of the gallery was removed by police when the person tried to call out Kern for bringing guns into the state Capitol. The KOCO video is hilarious and sad at the same time. Kern is an educator that doesn't understand the need to separate church and state. Please, Oklahoma voters, dump this woman, she  should not hold public office.

You can see video of Marlett campaigning here. In another video, Ron rocks to raise money --

The RNC Sally Kern Interview

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Sep 09, 2008 at 14:45:00 PM EDT

Mike Signorile interviewed Oklahomobigot, illegal pistol-packing legislator Sally Kern while he was at the RNC. She clearly doesn't know who he is, even after he introduced himself (see my earlier post). Here is part 1 of the interview. The other is at Mike's pad.

it was a nice treat to go through the camcorder over the weekend and find the Sally Kern interview (which we've played on the show) pretty much intact on video as well. The sound quality goes out for a brief moment or two, and it doesn't include the very end, where she mentions that "Siganorelli" guy. For that you'll have to check out the audio clip I posted. But otherwise, it's a gem.

Like a bad penny...Sally Kern turns up again

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 07:45:00 AM EDT

"I am not saying everyone has to be Christian; this is not a homogenous nation. What you have to be is someone who believes in a Judeo-Christian ethic, in other words, in knowing there's a right and wrong. Not all lifestyles are equal; not all religions are equal...My Lord made it very clear to me that I'm a cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values."
-- Oklahoma homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing legislator Sally Kern
Wow. Read that quote again and just pause to think about the stupidity and bigotry it represents.

Sally Kern, who's running for a third term to represent Oklahoma City, is a schoolteacher and sits on the Education Committee in the Oklahoma legislature(!). She has just made it clear that if you're an atheist, Muslim, Wiccan, Buddhist or anything outside her religious world view, you're less than, immoral, and apparently unworthy of representation by an elected official in her country.

Welcome to homoworld, peeps, where we are "the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism" and are "destroying this nation."

Kern, who has been defended by the likes of The Peter, also has professional "Christian" Bam Bam Barber on her side:

People with traditional values who value God's design for human sexuality will not be intimidated and bullied into silence.  Political correctness can never trump truth.  Sally Kern stood for truth, and she was hated for it.  She was persecuted for Christ, but the Body of Christ was there to lift her up.
Haven't we had enough of this crap? I have. Sally Kern had the opportunity to let this all die down, but it's clear she loves the limelight so she can spew her bigotry to court like-minded Oklahomans. One can only hope that there are many more sensible voters in that state who are ready to have sane lawmakers in the legislature -- Kern's just admitted that she is incapable of representing all of the people.

Steve Ralls at PFLAG National Blog:

[I]s it ethical, as a public servant sworn to uphold the law, to create an entire second-class of citizenship based on religion or sexual orientation? Did Sally forget that her real job is supposed to be advancing the cause of liberty and justice for all? And what will Oklahoma City voters have to say about it all come November?

As On Top Magazine reminds us, "Kern is running for a third term against Democrat Ron Marlett, 59. Marlett has said he wants to represent everyone in the district 'equally with no discrimination as to race, religion, gender or sexual preference.'"

Here's video on the news of Marlett's intention to run.

He has said "When I heard those statements, I told my family then and there my decision to run" because Kern's bile made him "realize the strength, and the damage involved in extreme statements like that," especially from someone in Kern's position."

P.Z. Myers at Pharyngula has more. Here's the link to the  Oklahomans for Equality web site.

Oklahoma: death penalty sought in murder of gay man

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Aug 04, 2008 at 09:00:00 AM EDT

Darrell Lynn Madden is accused of kidnapping and brutally slaying Steven Domer, 62, and faces the death penalty if convicted of the crime. He already faces life for killing another man who may have been involved in the murder of Domer. (365gay):
Friends said that Domer sometimes picked up other men for sex. Witnesses said that Domer was seen talking to two men the night he disappeared.

Investigators then began probing whether anyone known to be gay lived in the area where Domer's body was found.

That led them to Darrell Lynn Madden, 37. Madden at the time was facing a murder charge in connection with the slaying of his friend Bradley Qualls. Qualls was murdered about 10 days after Domer disappeared.

Madden and Qualls have been described as skinhead and white supremacists.
Police say that both Madden and Qualls were involved in the Domer murder. They allege that both Madden and Qualls were connected to the United Aryan Brotherhood, a violent white supremacist group.  But investigators also claim that Madden is bisexual.
In an affidavit by Madden's roommate, the murder of Domer was intended to be some kind of initiation for Qualls -- that finding a victim who "wouldn't fight back" was going to be sought out for the act.

Oklahoma doesn't have a hate crimes law that covers sexual orientation.

OK: 'Outdoors girl' Sally Kern is packing...

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 07:45:00 AM EDT

"It has nothing to do with the homosexual situation and I'm just sorry that I forgot to take it out"
-- Oklahoma homo-hating legislator Sally Kern who was packing heat when entering Oklahoma's capitol building
The obvious question to ask is WWJD? By the way, this is the second time Kern has been stopped with a gun in her purse as she tried to enter the building. (NewsOK):
State Rep. Sally Kern says she's an "outdoors girl" who's done some shooting but didn't intend to bring her pistol into the state Capitol on Wednesday.

Kern, who made national headlines earlier this year when she said the homosexual agenda is the biggest threat facing this country, said she was in a hurry and didn't realize she had her pistol in her purse.

...Kern, an Oklahoma City Republican, said she is "out of the habit of being at the Capitol" since the Legislature adjourned in May.

Let's do a rewind, and post tidbits from Sally's little recorded screed in March. They are after the jump.

This Oklahoma judge needs Sally Kern on speed dial

by: Pam Spaulding

Oklahoma County's Judge Bill Graves is hoppin' homo mad at a proposed anti-discrimination amendment to the state's judicial conduct code (adding sexual orientation), based on the American Bar Association's model code of conduct.
In the letter, Graves stated the current code of conduct already prohibits discrimination on that basis, but the new proposal could forbid judges from refusing to award children in custody and adoption cases because a person is homosexual. [GASP!]

...Graves contends the proposal also would prevent judges from being members of groups that discriminate based on "race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, ethnicity or sexual orientation."

He also objected to the addition of "gender" and "ethnicity," but his biggest complaint was "sexual orientation."

"Sexual orientation" would protect pedophiles, polygamists and homosexuals who practice anal sodomy, defined in state law as "the detestable and abominable crime against nature," the judge wrote. "Since homosexual groups cannot succeed in persuading the Legislature to provide such protection, they are making an end run around the constitutional lawmaking processes," Graves wrote.

I haven't seen commentary this unhinged since Miss Sally made a star of herself on YouTube.

What would Sally Kern think of this?

Oh my -- Sally's head may explode; she better start praying because the Homosexual Menace is planting roots in her state, according to The Advocate: Tulsa named emerging city for same-sex couples.
According to the magazine, Gary Gates, a senior research fellow at the Williams Institute at University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, "used the 2006 U.S. Census estimates of the country's 100 largest cities" and "ranked those cities by the portion of same-sex couples (again, determined by Census data) among all couples and compared that to the figures from 2000."

Tulsa, which had 7.74 same-sex couples per 1,000 households in 2006, went from a rank of 77 in 2000 to 46 in 2006.

...The Advocate piece includes 30-year-old Tulsan Justice Desiree Waidner, who is executive director of Oklahomans for Equality, which seeks equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and their families.

"I think that it's a recognition that's really well-deserved," Waidner said of The Advocate story. "I've been really proud of Tulsa and our community for the way that we have really worked to create a visible and vibrant lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."

The Rev. Nancy Eggen of the United Campus Ministry at the University of Tulsa said of The Advocate's data, "I hope this trend continues because if it doesn't, then it means people aren't feeling welcome here, and that's not the Tulsa I want to project to people."

Oklahoma: Sheriff charged with rape, forcible sodomy of inmates

by: Pam Spaulding

State Rep. Sally Kern -- how about this fine upstanding citizen of your state? Is he more or less of a threat to society than your average aggressive radical homosexual or everyday homosexual?

Michael Burgess, sheriff in Custer County, OK is a pious family man, he even offers a Sheriff's prayer on his website. Unfortunately he needs a few prayers right now, as he is charged with abusing his authority by offering leniency to inmates in exchange for getting blown and laid.

Michael Burgess, sheriff in Custer County, Okla., since 1994, surrendered to state law enforcement agents Wednesday and appeared in district court to face 35 felony charges, including multiple counts of rape, forcible oral sodomy, bribery by a public official and perjury.
More details below the fold, including a snippet of Jesus' General's letter to Sally about the goings-on in her little slice of pious heaven.
