It's only Tuesday and we've got another post-racial America story...a Chicago bar's entry policy was busted when students did their own racism sting after six black fellow students were refused admission to Original Mother's Chicago bar (as Blender kevinchi noted in the comments, this is a straight bar on Rush Street).
Six black students in a group of 200 seniors that traveled to Chicago two weekends ago were told they could not come into Mother's because their pants were too baggy, even though white students similarly dressed were admitted. The students said that they offered to change their clothes but were still told that they could not come in.
Lodge Management, which owns Original Mother's, said in a statement that they do not discriminate and are looking into the incident.
"We strive to create an environment in which all people, regardless of race or ethnicity, can have an enjoyable time at our establishment," the management said in the statement. "Consequently, we are conducting a detailed investigation of the events this past Saturday evening to determine what happened and why."
Except if you arrive in numbers with an abundance of melanin. Hey, at least in this incident they cut right to the chase with unmistakeable code about the "policy's aim."
A former Lodge Management employee, who worked the door at Bootleggers across the street, told the Huffington Post that when he was being trained he was told not to admit groups of black men or anyone who "looked thug." "It was definite policy to not admit people who looked like trouble," the former employee said. "They never said 'black,' but they said 'ghetto,' and everyone knew what that meant."
Again, the issue here is Lodge's assertion that all black men in groups with saggy pants must be gangbangers or thieves. As the story affirmed, a white guy in the same outfit doesn't receive the same scrutiny or merit the door refusal. I understand where the "looking thug" and "ghetto" code is coming from, but it's only when it's used in a broad brush stroke to assume all young black men are threats and so it's OK to perpetuate discrimination against non-gangbangers because it's a "risk assessment" issue. Well, sorry, Lodge Management, that doesn't fly if you single out racial groups on that basis.

I get sick watching this, hearing the excuses for the discrimination. And I've had this happen to me more than once (only in NYC, mind you, not here in NC), and hailing a cab while black (again, in NYC). If you had a front row seat to this kind of racism, would you take action? Nothing -- that's what one patron does. It's not her problem, and she probably sides with the salesperson anyway, looking at the expression on her face.
ABC News' "What Would You Do?" set up the largest hidden camera operation in the show's history in New York City's Soho neighborhood at the chic clothing boutique Unpomela. It was practically the only store the show could find willing to experiment with something so controversial.
The show hired actors to play a racist store clerk and security guard, both armed with words that would make even the most apathetic shopper flinch. An actor was hired to pose as the black shopper, the target of the abuse.
In a 2007 Gallup survey, 47 percent of black people surveyed said they are not treated equally by retailers. More than one-quarter of those surveyed felt they were targeted because of their race while shopping in the last 30 days.
As I said, this has not happened to me here in NC, so regional stereotyping clearly doesn't explain this BS.
As you all know, Keith Bardwell is still smarting for being called a racist for refusing to marry an interracial couple. He strenuously denied that he was racist, saying the fact he lets negroes use the bathroom in his house is proof positive of his open heart. And so he also refuses to step down, even after being called to do so by Governor Bobby Jindal and Sen. Mary Landrieu. Notably, Republican Senator David Vitter apparently didn't release a statement to USA Today.

Moving right along to another case of denial, this time anti-Semitism, we feature famed Irish tenor Ronan Tynan, who is well-known for singing at Yankee games. He seems to have a very narrow view about what kind of "Jew humor" isn't offensive.
Tynan, famous for belting out "God Bless America" at Yankee games, ran into a friend of his, a real estate broker, while he was showing apartments in his building to a pediatrician named Gabrielle Gold-von Simson.
"Don't worry, they are not Red Sox fans," the broker reportedly said. "I don't care about that, as long as they are not Jewish," Tynan replied.
That line might - might - have been funny if delivered as schtick by the likes of Jackie Mason, Mel Brooks or Larry David. But Dr. Gold-von Simson, distinctly unamused, complained to her broker and reported the exchange to WNBC-TV.
The Yankees cancelled Tynan's scheduled Friday appearance at the American League playoffs.
"I'm not anti-Semitic and I have never been in my life," Tynan protested, calling the incident "something misfortunate, I was too stupid with my mouth."
Hmm. You mean the signals from his brain got scrambled on the way to his KKK tongue and mouth? How come that doesn't happen when he goes to sing "God Bless America"? He apologized, btw, and it was accepted by Dr. Gold-von Simson.
OMFG. When I read the AP version of the story of the justice of the peace Keith Bardwell in Hammond, Louisiana's Tangipahoa Parish's 8th Ward -- the man who refused to marry an interracial couple out of "concern for the children," I thought that was bad enough.
But the CNN, USA TODAY and AP reports oddly left out the real money quote Bardwell offered up. You may have read this:
"I'm not a racist," Bardwell told the newspaper. "I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house. My main concern is for the children."
Well look at what The Guardian and several others published -- also from the AP -- that you might not have seen:

Many students take the ability to use the bathroom for granted, but for some it is a daily battle.
The University of Minnesota Transgender Commission is attempting to raise awareness about restroom access on campus, not only for members of the transgender community, but for the disabled, chronically ill and anyone who is made uncomfortable by gender-specific public restrooms.
"There are so many reasons someone might just want to have a private space to use the restroom, and I don't think that's limited to trans-identified folks or gender-nonconforming folks, but really is a right that is for all of us," said Remy Corso, University of Minnesota Transgender Commission co-coordinator and transgender student.
The group has consulted disabled people who work with opposite sex caregivers, the chronically ill and diabetics who need to inject insulin that would prefer single-stall, gender-neutral restrooms.

Forgive our tactless pun, but it's time to think outside the box. Check one, male or female. While easy for some, it's painful for others - when the choice between one extreme and the other doesn't fit a person's personal identity, or their body.
Some folks are born with the dilemma of indistinctness. Intersexuality is a medical reference applied to people who cannot be narrowly, biologically classified as male or female because they contain atypical combinations of physical features that relate to both male and female traits. Classifications of intersexuality include analysis of chromosomal differences, gonadal anomalies, genital ambiguity and more. These characteristics are congenital.
The most recent publicized case of defining an individual as more male or female when both traits are present is with the young South African championship runner, Caster Semenya. She may be a hermaphrodite, despite being raised as a woman and competing as a woman. Her case may cause the International Association of Athletics Federations to devise a definition of what determines male or female for the sake of classifying whether an athlete competes as male or female.
Classifications are no easy feat, within the United States, even our local and federal governments cannot agree. To date, there is no uniform, legal definition of what makes a person female or male, or more one than the other...
Some doctors tell their patients not to eat cheese when they're pregnant, and women want to know why. It's because of the danger of contracting listeriosis, that's found in some cheeses.
Listeriosis is caused by a bacteria called "listeria monocytogenes." Most people don't even know they've contracted diarrhea from something they ate, but can't recall what it might be. That's why in the 1960s, most women arriving in a hospital to give birth not yet in labor were given enemas not only to clean them out before they get on the delivery table, but to induce labor contractions. So you don't want to contract listeria.
When you're pregnant, you're 20 times more likely to catch a bacteria or virus infection...

The naked racist and homophobic rant of Geneva (IL) High School's consumer education teacher David Burk is breathtaking. During a class on taxes funding the National Endowment for the Arts he said to students:
"How would you feel about your tax dollars going to pay some black fag in New York to take pictures of other black fags?" Burk allegedly asked, according to student Jordan Hunter.
Needless to say, some students were taken aback by this bold level of bigotry, and have called for him to be fired, including Hunter, who is gay.
"If he wants to talk about a poor place to put our tax dollars, I think his salary is a poor place to put our tax dollars"...Hunter said several other students have contacted him, saying Burk repeated the same phrase in all his classes. "He's free to feel any way he wants, but [with him] being in a position of influence like that over children, I don't think he should be using that position to make statements like that," said Hunter, 17, of Geneva.
In what has become standard operating procedure for racists and homophobes alike, Burk, who did a two-in-one bigot eruption, through his attorney, said that, well he's sorry if anyone might have been offended...
"Mr. Burk is cooperating fully with both the principal, the dean of students and the school board," [attorney, D.J.] Tegeler said. "Mr. Burk's biggest problem is he does not want to intentionally offend anybody and if he did, he apologizes."

Connick gave the group a zero rating for their performance and was booed by the audience, later, he gives everyone a good talking to about why blackface is so wrong. Believe it or not the group says it was meant to be a tribute to Michael Jackson! It reeks with racism from start to finish. On air, Connick says, "If I knew that was going to be a part of the show, I definitely wouldn't have done it." This incident has created controversy in Australia, especially on talk radio, where listeners feel that Connick was over-reacting!

Troy Dale West Jr., 47, was indicted Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, first degree cruelty to children, two counts of battery and two counts of disorderly conduct, Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson said.
Clayton County Superior Court Judge Geronda V. Carter issued a warrant for West Wednesday morning and then denied him bond.
West is charged with beating and kicking Tashawnea Hill as she walked out of the Morrow restaurant on Sept. 9. Hill's 7-year-old daughter watched as West assaulted her mother while yelling racial slurs, police said.
According to the indictment, West used his "shoe-clad foot and hands" to cause serious bodily injury to Hill.
West also maliciously caused "cruel and excessive mental pain" to the child by assaulting and battering her mother in front of her while "using profane and vulgar language," the indictment reads.
What West said was "You're an f*cking black n*gger b*tch." That's beyond vulgar. BTW, the "reviews" keep coming in to Troy's Auto Salvage business.

The latest on Troy Dale West of Poulan, GA who beat up Tasha Hill in front of her daughter at a Cracker Barrel. People are outraged that he is walking out free on the streets. The NAACP calls for West to be locked up.
"The concern is that this gentleman allegedly is back on the street in less than 24 hours after this incident happened," said Derrick Boazman, a community activist.
The NAACP showed its support for what it calls a hate crime. Troy Dale West is facing misdemeanor charges of battery, disorderly conduct and a felony charge of cruelty to children.
"There were no misdemeanors committed here. All of them were felonies. We are Concerned, in fact, we're mad as hell," said Boazman.
Community activists are outraged at the charges and the fact that west is free on $10,000 bond. They say after what witnesses and police say he did to 36-year-old Tashawnea Hill and her seven-year-old daughter Shiyenn, he should be locked up.
"He had no good reason, unprovoked, and that's why we think he's dangerous. He's a genocidal racist that needs to be picked up off the streets," said Boazman.
They also want the surveillance video of the beating at the Morrow Cracker Barrel released.
Meanwhile, you'll recall I posted the URL where people could leave feedback about West at his Troy's Paint & Body & Auto Salvage listing. Lots of people surfed over, but it wasn't long before some of West's white supremacist supporters weighed in too.
I know the feeling of confronting one of these moose lipped, uppity acting, sow niggers. I wanted to update you on the horrible story of the black woman who was beaten down at a Georgia Cracker Barrel by mullet-sporting trash Troy Dale West. The incident was caught on the restaurant's surveillance video, and it has been turned over to the FBI. Tasha Hill's seven-year-old daughter witnessed this man pummel her mother and now blames herself for what happened to her mother because she's the one who wanted to go to Cracker Barrel. Local news video is up.
A police report of the incident said Hill's daughter was "crying uncontrollably and her body [was] shaking/trembling" from witnessing the attack.
According to Hill's report, and confirmed by many witnesses, West screamed out racial slurs before punching her in the face. "He said, 'You're an fucking black nigger bitch,' is what he said," said Hill.
Oh guess what - look at the charges West faces:
A judge dropped a felony child cruelty charge against Troy D. West Jr. He was released from the Clayton County jail Friday -- two days after being arrested for striking Tashawnea Hill in front of her 7-year-old daughter.
District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson said she may file felony charges against West. We're reviewing the police reports and talking to witnesses to determine whether felony charges should be presented to the grand jury," Lawson said Wednesday.
West, 47, is charged with battery, disorderly conduct and cruelty to children -- all misdemeanors.
Clayton Solicitor General Tasha Mosley, who prosecutes misdemeanor charges, said she sent the case to the district attorney because West should face aggravated assault charges.
"A hand or a foot can be used as a deadly weapon," Mosley said. "You can kill somebody or cause bodily injury with a hand."
West is now claiming that Hill spit on him; witnesses said she did no such thing. Hey big man, you want to pound on a negro -- man up and say you're proud to do it and that you'd do it again. Such bullsh*t. Oh, and of course the media checked in with West's mom who said her son just couldn't be capable of violence:
West's mother, Johnnie West, said her son was not available, but that he would never harm anyone -- especially in front of a child.
"That doesn't sound like something my son would do," she said Wednesday when reached at her Poulan home. "He has children and is a good father."

Police are investigating a possible hate crime as a white man, Troy Dale West of Poulan, GA, put the beatdown on a black woman, Tasha Hill. He did so in front of her daughter when Hill told West to watch out for her child as the mullet-sporting West swung open a door to leave a Morrow, GA Cracker Barrel.
As West was leaving, the exit door came close to striking the 7-year-old daughter of the victim, police said. Hill, by all witness accounts, politely asked West to be careful , officials said.
"The man slung open the door pretty hard and fast and I had to push my daughter out of the way. I turned to the man and I just said, 'Excuse me sir, you need to watch yourself you almost hit my daughter in the face.' And from there it just went downhill ," said Hill.
At that point, West became enraged and began to beat the victim in front of her 7-year-old daughter , according to police. Hill said she told West she was an Army servicemember and she did not want any trouble.
West threw her to the ground and hit her in the head with his fists and feet, police said. During the exchange, witnesses said West could be heard screaming racial slurs at the victim .

Carter's observations may seem obvious to those of us in the coffeehouse. We've seen this racist, code-laden garbage surface during the 2008 campaign only to revive with a bigoted bang right after the inauguration. But it's significant that the former President, a man of the South (as is Joe "You Lie!" Wilson) during a time when there was enormous social race-based upheaval calls it out so bluntly. He knows most of this crap is simply dancing around calling the current President of the United States a n*gger -- and you know Wilson knows it too.

Continued Carter: "And that racism inclination still exists... It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."
UPDATE: I just want to note that the the talking heads on the left as well as the right are trying to minimize the amount of racism being tossed out there; as if it's only a handful of people doing this. James Carville was on CNN just this AM trying to downplay the bigotry. I think not. Take a look at my long list -- a sampling -- of what has transpired not just in the South but all over the country. It's not just teabaggers, it's DC insiders and pols spewing racist garbage on the air as fact.

Tea Party leader Mark Williams called President Obama an "Indonesian Muslim turned Welfare thug," last night on Anderson Cooper 360 in a segment where he was trying to deny any racist motivations behind the Tea Party protest.
Williams denounced those carrying blatantly racist signs against President Obama during the tea parties as "no more part of the mainstream of America than the hippies who wear nipple clips and feather boas in San Francisco streets during so-called peace demonstrations."
"What you're saying makes sense to me here when I'm hearing what you say but then I read on your blog, you say, you call the President an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief," Anderson Cooper said. "Yeah, that's the way he's behaving," Williams said. "He's certainly acting like it. Until he embraces the whole country what else can I conclude."
You see, Williams can say what he did without a bit of guilt that he's crossed some sort of line in defense of racism. Why? Because the people in question didn't burn a cross on a lawn or drag a black man tied to the back of a pickup truck down a road until his limbs fell off. THOSE PEOPLE are the racists, right?

I read how Edwards was going to end his then daily show, because it was affecting his marriage, and he had his father’s health issues to deal with.
Edwards and his friends are clearly well known in the hate community and should be on the radar of more organizations and blogs. (Note from Pam: The man has been on CNN multiple times, including one segment where he appeared with self-loathing black tool of the right, Jesse Lee Peterson.)
While delving into the Matrix of Bone Chilling Hate, I was surprised the more I learned about them, the less fear I had of these mostly older (than dirt) cranks, who are “so” ANAL RETENTIVE, and extremely chatty about who the loathe. And finally, as promised, a Special Comment about the shout of "You Lie" during the presidential address to the joint session of Congress last night on the matter of health care reform.
The 43rd president of the United States lied the nation into the war, lied 4,343 of his fellow citizens to death in that war, lied about upholding the constitution, and lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction.
He lied about how he reacted to Al-Qaeda before 9/11 and he lied about how he reacted to Al-Qaeda after 9/11.
He lied about getting Bin Laden, and he lied about not getting Bin Laden.
He lied about nation-building in Iraq, lied about the appearance of new buildings **in** the nation **of** Iraq, and lied about embassy buildings in nations like Iraq.
He lied about trailers with mobile weapons labs in them, and he lied about trailers with Cuban prostitutes in them.
He and his administration lied -- by the counting of one non-profit group -- 532 times about links between Al-Qaeda and Iraq. Only 28 of those were by that President, but he made up for that by lying 231 times about W-M-D.
And yet not once did an elected Democratic official shout out during one of George W. Bush's speeches and call him a "liar."
Oh, ho, ho, ho...yeah, baby. It appears this man has a history of getting caught up in his eruptions emotions ("let my emotions get the best of me") and his lips flapping away in the uncouth breeze too easily. Last night most of Americans got a taste of his inability to "control himself" when he screamed at the President, but look at this -- he was offended that there were stories that racist bigot Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-SC) had an illegitimate daughter, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, with a black woman (a Thurmond family maid).
After all, stories that Strom's white rod got anywhere near the nasty woo-woo of a negress would sully the steriling reputation of that upstanding white man, right? (TPM):
Rep. Wilson, a former page of Thurmond's, immediately told The State newspaper that he didn't believe Williams. He deemed the revelation "unseemly." And he added that even if she was telling the truth, she should have kept the inconvenient facts to herself:
"It's a smear on the image that [Thurmond] has as a person of high integrity who has been so loyal to the people of South Carolina," Wilson said.
Of course, Williams' story was entirely true -- and never really in doubt. Thurmond was 22 and Williams' mother, a black maid working in his family home, was 16 when Williams was born in 1925. Thurmond supported Williams financially for decades.
"Sometimes these things just go on," Wilson said. "These are heroes of mine. I really hope these would be heroes to future generations of Americans. (The stories) are ... a way to diminish their contributions to our country's existence."'
Wow. Wilson must favor a return to anti-miscegenation laws. Clearly race mixing leads to...ooops...our country being led by a biracial man. That explains a lot about the mindset of the ignorant, anger-management-challenged Congressman from the Palmetto State.
