The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Rush Limbaugh

CDC: 76 Children Dead From H1N1

by: Louise

Fri Oct 09, 2009 at 17:00:00 PM EDT

Yet Rush Limbaugh stomps his feet and yells, "Screw You!" at Kathleen's Sebelius' recommendation that people get the H1N1 flu vaccination.

From CNN:

Insanity. Sheer insanity.

Health officials said Friday that 76 children have died of swine flu, including 16 new reports in the past week -- more evidence the new virus is unusually dangerous in kids.

The regular flu kills between 46 and 88 children a year, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.

With swine flu cases increasing throughout most of the country, more deaths are likely, Dr. Anne Schuchat said at a press conference Friday.

She noted that 37 states now are reporting widespread swine flu cases, up from 27 a week ago. A week ago, reports suggested that cases might be leveling off and even decreasing in some areas of the country, but that did not turn out to be an enduring national trend.

"We are seeing more illness, more hospitalizations, and more deaths," said Schuchat, who heads the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

I'd love to dismiss Limbaugh's nuttiness to "oh well, at least it will be Repugs and teabaggers who die!", but the thing is is won't be- it will be the KIDS of Rush's followers.

And when the deaths start to occur, you watch him find some other way to spin it to be the White House's fault...

Rush calls for racial segregation on school buses

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Sep 18, 2009 at 11:36:39 AM EDT

This man is a complete piece of shite. This man is a flat out racist and shouldn't earn a dime from sponsors. When you call for racial segregation as an answer to any problem, you've lost any credibility in a discussion and only incite an a...lready intolerant base. Would he call for this if it were an Asian-White conflict, or boys vs. girls? Someone sew Rush a Klan hood and let's just get it over with.

In a remark extraordinary even by the standards of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, the right-wing radio heavyweight declared on his program Wednesday that the United States needed to return to racially segregated buses.

Referring to an incident in which a white student was beaten by black students on a bus, Limbaugh said: “I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama’s America.”

Media Matters shows just how far off the rails this irresponsible voice of the GOP has run, knowing the attack was not caused by racial conflict after all -- segregation is still on his mind as the answer:

Then Rush took a caller who said the local police investigating the bus assault said today the attack was not racially motivated. Rush responded to these developments put out by the local law enforcement:

LIMBAUGH: I think the guy's wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that's the lesson we're being taught here today. Kid shouldn't have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses -- it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama's America.

On Countdown, Howard Dean discussed the corrosive effect on society of bottom-feeders like Limbaugh and Beck.

Powell: the GOP still has a race problem

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jul 06, 2009 at 15:00:00 PM EDT

And he's putting the blame on bigots like Rush Limbaugh, who fanned the flames all during the campaign.

KING: You wrote in your book some time ago about this issue, about serving in administrations. You wrote: "Never in the two years I worked with Ronald Reagan and George Bush did I detect the slightest trace of racial prejudice in their behavior. They led a party, however, whose principal message to black Americans seemed to be, lift yourself up by your bootstraps. Some did not have boots. I wish that Reagan and Bush had shown more sensitivity on this point."

Let's fast forward to where we are today. Does the Republican Party have that sensitivity now? You just mentioned the divergence of opinion when this nomination first came up. Are you confident those in, let's say, elected leadership positions have that sensitivity now?

POWELL: Well, if you look at the results of the election last fall and make a judgment on the basis of how the party did with respect to the Hispanic vote and the African-American vote, realizing that President Obama -- candidate Obama had a significant advantage with those constituencies, we haven't done well enough.

And when you have non-elected officials such as we have in our party who immediately shout racism or somebody who is quite prominent in the media says that the only basis upon which I could possibly have supported Obama was because he was black and I was black, even though I laid out my judgment on the candidates, then we still have a problem.

Here's a bonus clip of Rush on the hate crimes bill: Everybody but "blacks and homosexuals" "can get to the back of the bus":

Rush: Sanford's AWOL and 'concubine' problem is Obama's fault

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Jun 25, 2009 at 18:00:00 PM EDT

The last thing Mr. Hillbilly Heroin head of the GOP needs to be doing is making asshat excuses for the Palmetto State Governor, but the creativity of blaming the President and his stimulus plan for Mark Sanford thinking with his "little brain" and going AWOL to be with, as Rush calls her in this clip, "his concubine," is amazing. Media Matters via TPM:

"This is almost like, 'I don't give a damn, the country's going to Hell in a handbasket, I just want out of here,'" said Limbaugh. "He [Sanford] had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn't want any part of it. He lost the battle. He said, 'What the Hell. I mean, I'm -- the federal government's taking over -- what the Hell, I want to enjoy life.'"

"The point is," he added, "there are a lot of people whose spirit is just -- they're fed up, saying to Hell with it, I don't even want to fight this anymore, I just want to get away from it."

And he added this incredible tidbit:
Next, Rush had "one more thing" to say about the Sanford affair. He explained that people were telling him that the Republican Party needs to get rid of social issues because it is seen as hypocrisy in situations like this. But Rush rejected this idea. Instead, Rush argued that "society needs hypocrisy." This actually went on for a few minutes, with Rush essentially making the case that hypocrisy helps preserve morality more effectively that "moral equivalency" does, which is what liberals try to impose on society.

Race-baiting Rush needs to get his Klan garb out of the cleaners

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu May 14, 2009 at 06:00:00 AM EDT

He needs it straight away for popping off this offensive sh*t.
LIMBAUGH: As the economy performs worse than expected, the deficit for the 2010 budget year beginning in October will worsen by $87 billion to $1.3 trillion. The deterioration reflects lower tax revenues and higher costs for bank failures, unemployment benefits and food stamps. But in the Oval Office of the White House none of this is a problem. This is the objective. The objective is unemployment. The objective is more food stamp benefits. The objective is more unemployment benefits. The objective is an expanding welfare state. And the objective is to take the nation's wealth and return to it to the nation's quote, "rightful owners." Think reparations. Think forced reparations here if you want to understand what actually is going on.
This has been the undercurrent of the message coming from the McCain/Palin mobs during the campaign -- "the fear of a black planet" meme, where all black folks are thugs, deadbeat dads, and hyper-procreating women.

Remember this?

or this:

We covered all that and more last year -- these are the folks catered to by the head of the GOP, Rush Limbaugh.

Cheryl Contee, a.k.a. Jill Tubman had this to say:

So let's get this straight, HNIC Barack Obama, despite all of his stimulus and job growth activities and the fact that the stock market has stabilized, is really intent on transforming America into a one big ghetto filled with chicken joints, liquor stores and welfare check cashing storefronts. Apparently, you should just quit yo job right now and wait for the big checks that Brother Obama is about to pay all black people. In the immortal words of Dave Chappelle, "I'm Rich Biatch!" Honk Honk! Congratulations, Niggaz, you done just won the Obama Reparations Lottery!

Is that what white supremacists really think that black people actually want? No, we want good educations and good jobs and nice houses just like everyone else in America. We want the same American dream as everyone else.

H/t, Think Progress.

Laugh of the day - Rush: Joe the Plumber 'can articulate conservatism'

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue May 05, 2009 at 16:30:00 PM EDT

From our friends at Media Matters, a real knee-slapper:

LIMBAUGH: Why are they still kneecapping Sarah Palin? Hmm? I mean, I know I'm fair game. I'm out there. But why are they still kneecapping Sarah Palin? They're out there kneecapping Bobby Jindal. They're still kneecapping -- the drive-bys, the Democrats -- Rick Santorum. They're still jumping on Joe the Plumber -- a private citizen, for heaven's sake. All he did was ask Obama a question. Why are they continuing to try to destroy virtually anyone and everyone who can articulate conservatism? It's 'cause they are afraid of us.

Rush: Obama praise will give Gordon Brown 'anal poisoning'

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Apr 04, 2009 at 18:00:00 PM EDT

How'd I miss this disgusting screed by true leader of the GOP the other day? I think the guy must be back on the Hillbilly Heroin.

CNN's Rick Sanchez couldn't hold back his contempt as Rush Limbaugh mewls that England's Prime Minister Gordon Brown's positive comments about President Obama will lead to Brown's "anal poisoning."

Sanchez: "Then you have Rush Limbaugh who doesn't like the fact that Gordon Brown was impressed with the U.S. President. Didn't like the compliment...in fact, Limbaugh was so upset about it, he made what may be one of the most disgusting comments anybody could possibly make. I mean, this is the type that would make me wash out my kid's mouth, the type that even for Rush Limbaugh seems beyond the pale. Some of you no doubt will find Limbaugh's comments offensive."

Rush: "So here is a full-fledged, committed global socialist praising the president of the United States for all of his achievements in the first 70 days -- a global socialist happy with the changes Obama has made, and 'you have changed America's relationship with the world,' which is why all of the losers that make up the protesters are breaking bank windows, but the slobbering, the slobbering - this guy, folks I'm telling you - if he keeps this up throughout the G20, Gordon Brown will come down with anal poisoning and may die from it."

John Amato at C&L says it all.
We all got the crude sex joke, Rushie. He is a disgusting homophobe. Why else would he make such frequent references to people having to "bend over and grab their ankles"?
The fixation of conservatives like Rush on sex acts is really troubling, I mean worthy of the couch. There is something seriously wrong with them. I mean considering how many closet cases and deviants are in the GOP's ranks, it's a motherlode for shrinks. It makes you wonder what is in the cache of El Rushbo's browser.

Limpbaugh homophobia: conniption over using the word 'dike' in descriptions of Fargo floods

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Mar 30, 2009 at 13:30:00 PM EDT

The real leader of the GOP is such an uptight asshat; the thing that makes him so repulsive is just revels in wearing his hate on his sleeve as entertainment. This latest BS is so predictable. (via Towleroad):

"I heard some top of the hour news and it made me feel uncomfortable. It's about the flooding in Fargo, North Dakota brought on by the melting snowpack and the icepack. (reading from news item) "As the Red River threatens to overflow, they're filling in the dikes." Isn't there a more appropriate word? Do we have to say, I mean, we don't have any dikes here. The 'dykes' are over there...They're filling in the dikes. Couldn't we change that to 'they're filling in the contingencies' or something?...We really need to change that word."

It's Not Just Rush

by: TerranceDC

Fri Mar 20, 2009 at 15:04:03 PM EDT

(Previously posted at the Republic of T.)

It's almost enough to make you feel sorry for Republicans. Trounced in November's election, faced a popular president, and a voting public that seems to have rejected their conservative politics, now they're stuck with Rush Limbaugh as the de facto head of their party.

No matter how much they deny it, the parade of conservative politicians kissing up to Rush after daring to criticize his rantings makes it pretty clear who's in charge.

The thing is, it's not just Rush.

Beyond vile: Rush proclaims Ted Kennedy will be dead by the time health care bill passes

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Mar 07, 2009 at 00:00:00 AM EST

Wow. This is the head of the GOP in all his glory; his leadership, class and tact as an "entertainer" may be aces to the faithful, but by any measure, he fails as a human being.

Huff Post:

Kennedy was at the Senate Thursday for President Obama's health care summit, where he made an impassioned plea for universal coverage. Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Executive Director Brian Wolff released a statement in response:
"Rush Limbaugh's reprehensible remark that, ' before it's all over, it'll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care bill' is truly outrageous.

"Leader Limbaugh minimizes the struggle of hardworking Americans without access to affordable health care and demonizes a patriotic Senator who has spent his life fighting so that every person has the opportunity to live the American dream.

"Leader Limbaugh crossed the line. National Republicans must stand up to their leader, Rush Limbaugh, and tell him that enough is enough."

This boil on society needs to be lanced; instead he's coddled, groveled to and lionized by a party in such disarray; the GOP is so desperate to protect wealthy white male privilege that nothing this bastard says matters. It's all good to these folks -- they are too scared of entering 21st century America to challenge this gasbag. You might say "ignore him," but the issue is that elected officials in his party aren't, they won't even deign to piss this pissmaster off. Look at Michael Steele's shuffling act. Pathetic.

Media Matters is tracking Rush's filthy leadership of the Republican party here at Limbaughwire.

North Carolina RNC member calls for Steele's head - plus a hip-hop humiliation video

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Mar 06, 2009 at 00:00:00 AM EST

(12:35 AM - UPDATES, including video, are below the fold.)

How about this? What a vote of confidence for The Playa, and it comes from North Carolina's Dr. Ada Fisher.

In an e-mail to fellow RNC members obtained by The Hill, Dr. Ada Fisher, North Carolina's national committeewoman, said Steele is "eroding confidence" in the GOP and that members of his transition team should encourage him to step aside. Fisher added Steele's personal e-mail address to the e-mail.

"I don't want to hear anymore [sic] language trying to be cool about the bling in the stimulus package or appealing to D.L. Hughley and blacks in a way that isn't going to win us any votes and makes us frankly appear to many blacks as quite foolish," Fisher wrote.

Fisher, who is one of three black members of the national committee, backed South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson, whom Steele edged out in the final round of voting to win the chairmanship in late January. She has voiced repeated opposition to Steele, sending dozens of e-mails to committee members even after Steele won election slamming him for any number of chips that have fallen awry.

...Calling the Limbaugh-Steele clash a "Republican Horror Show," Fisher expressed what some other GOP strategists have until now only said privately: "I have never seen such ineptness in our GOP leadership," Fisher wrote. "And I though we handled the 2008 elections very poorly."

Screeeeeeech! She supported Dawson, who until last year was a member of a whites-only country club?! Good lord, this party is messed up.

And Blender Lev Raphael found this keyboard-protection-worthy video parody of Michael Steele and his street cred - Republicans Go Urban by Landline. The rap by "Governor Mark Sanford" brought tears to my eyes.

Who's the Republican Party's REAL Leader?

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Mar 05, 2009 at 06:00:00 AM EST

Take a guess (and it isn't Brother Steele). From Americans United for Change.
The ad comes on the heels of a highly publicized apology to Limbaugh from RNC Chairman Michael Steele after daring to suggest that the radio show host's often sexist, racist and generally offensive style of "entertain[ment]" was "incendiary" and "ugly."   Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who delivered the Republican response to the President's recent address to the joint session of Congress and who is considered a top GOP presidential hopeful in 2012, was quick to take sides in the Republican party power struggle: "I'm glad [Steele] apologized...As I said before, I think Rush is a leader for many conservatives and says things that people are concerned about."

Brad Woodhouse, President of Americans United for Change: "If there was any doubt that Rush Limbaugh is the undisputed leader of the Republican Party, look no further than the groveling apology from the Chairman of the RNC just hours after daring to call the shock jock radio host's brand of entertainment exactly what it is: "incendiary" and "ugly."  Despite Limbaugh's long, sordid history of hateful rhetoric, it's really incredible to see top Republican presidential hopefuls like Bobby Jindal genuflect to Limbaugh as the guiding voice of his party.  It's an unfortunate sign that the Republican Party will continue to follow Limbaugh into the political abyss as they did by "just saying 'no'" to President Obama's plan to put millions of Americans back to work.  It's a sign that they will continue to follow Limbaugh and root for the President's bold efforts to turn the economy around to "fail" for political gain, no matter the incredible cost to the nation."

GOP strategist: know your place, Steele

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Mar 04, 2009 at 22:00:00 PM EST

I missed this latest humiliation for RNC chair Michael Steele. Hired to try to expand the party base beyond the aging, angry, white bible beaters, apparently his feeble attempts at hipness, paired with his huge faux pas of offending the Great One Rush, has people already talking about serving up a pink slip for Steele. You be da man....NOT.
"What is amazing is that Steele was elected because of his communications skills, and it is those skills that are damaging the Republican Party. Before people begin to completely judge him as worthless, Steele needs to focus and knuckle down on building a strong foundation at RNC so we can begin rebuilding our majority," says a top GOP strategist who has worked for House and Senate Republican leaders. "If his implosion continues, RNC members are likely to call a special session to dump him for an effective chairman. There is not much patience for failure."

Others want Steele to re-evaluate his role in the party. Of concern: For no reason, he is dividing the GOP between conservatives who like Limbaugh and moderates who don't and jeopardizing future fundraising efforts, his key responsibility. "The general sentiment of the conference is that Steele needs to step back and get a handle on his role in the party," says an influential congressional aide.

Oh my. He needs to know his place get a handle on his role. Holy crap. They can't even accept Steele pretending to be the negro overlord for two seconds. Maybe the GOP would have been better off electing a more compatible leader, you know, like runner-up Katon Dawson, a Southerner who was a member of an all-white country club until last year.

Brother Steele learns the error of his ways and apologizes to Rush

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Mar 02, 2009 at 19:00:00 PM EST

Jeebus H. Christ. That happened so fast I can't believe it --  a 24-hour turnaround. Who's da man, now, Steele?

After calling Rush's remarks about wanting Obama to fail "incendiary" and "ugly" (see today's earlier post), Steele was roasted over the coals by Limbaugh today:

"So I am an entertainer and I have 20 million listeners because of my great song and dance routine," Limbaugh said. "Michael Steele, you are head of the Republican National Committee. You are not head of the Republican party. Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the Republican National Committee...and when you call them asking for money, they hang up on you.
And what do you know -- the field hand knows his place in the GOP. Look at this backpedaling and shuffling (Think Progress):
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says he has reached out to Rush Limbaugh to tell him he meant no offense when he referred to the popular conservative radio host as an "entertainer" whose show can be "incendiary."

"My intent was not to go after Rush - I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh," Steele said in a telephone interview. "I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. ... There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership."

..."He brings a very important message to the American people to wake up and pay attention to what the administration is doing," Steele said. "Number two, there are those out there who want to look at what he's saying as incendiary and divisive and ugly. That's what I was trying to say. It didn't come out that way. ... He does what he does best, which is provoke: He provokes thought, he provokes the left. And they're clearly the ones who are most excited about him."

Sorry, dude, you were caught on tape taking Rush to the woodshed.
STEELE: So let's put it into context here. Let's put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary. Yes, it's ugly.
Apparently there is no head negro in charge at the RNC after all. Man, someone needs to pop the popcorn because this is one hell of a show watching this party fall apart so publicly.

UPDATE: This is a riot - DNC's Tim Kaine rubs it in.

Kaine Statement: Steele Apology to Rush Limbaugh Proves the Point: Limbaugh is Leading Force behind Republican Party

Washington, DC - On the same day GOP Chairman Michael Steele apologized to conservative talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh for courageously challenging Limbaugh's role as leader of the Republican Party calling his show "incendiary" and "ugly," Governor Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, issued the following statement calling on Republicans in Washington to stop following Rush Limbaugh's lead:

"I was briefly encouraged by the courageous comments made my counterpart in the Republican Party over the weekend challenging Rush Limbaugh as the leader of the Republican Party and referring to his show as 'incendiary' and 'ugly.' However, Chairman Steele's reversal this evening and his apology to Limbaugh proves the unfortunate point that Limbaugh is the leading force behind the Republican Party, its politics and its obstruction of President Obama's agenda in Washington. Just this weekend, Rush Limbaugh repeated his claim that he is rooting for the President to fail. The last time Rush Limbaugh said he wanted the President to fail, virtually every single Republican in Congress followed his lead and voted against the President's plan to create or save 3.5 million jobs.

"As Congress works to pass the President's budget, Republicans need to stop following divisive figures like Rush Limbaugh, stop apologizing to him and put aside the failed politics of the past so we can put our economy back on track, reform our health care system, break our dependence on foreign oil, improve our schools, and lay the foundation for long-term growth in the 21st Century."

Brother Steele bucks party leader Rush

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Mar 02, 2009 at 16:00:00 PM EST

"Playa" Michael Steele better not hate on Rushbo too much, or he's going to find himself bounced right out of that RNC chair pronto. Think Progress has Steele's indignant exchange with D.L. Hughley, who challenges him about the status of the drug-addled radio show blowhard's influence among the Republican movers and shakers.

HUGHLEY: You know what we do, we talk like we're talking now. You have your view. I have mine. We don't need incendiary rhetoric.
STEELE: Exactly.
HUGHLEY: Like Rush Limbaugh, who is the de facto leader of the Republican Party.
STEELE: No, he's not.
HUGHLEY: I will tell you what ...
STEELE: I'm the de facto leader of the Republican Party.
HUGHLEY: You know what? I can appreciate that. But no one will actually decry down some of the things he says. Like when he comes out and says he wants the president to fail. I understand he wants liberalism to fail. Like, I get it's not about the man. But it is still about the idea that he would rather have an idea fail so his idea can move to the forefront. And that would succeed. And that to me is destructive.
STEELE: How is that any different than what was said about George Bush during his presidency?
HUGHLEY: You're absolutely - let me say something. You're absolutely right.
STEELE: So let's put it into context here. Let's put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary. Yes, it's ugly.
CHUCK D: You do get a sense that he would say anything.
HUGHLEY: He influences the party. And I tell you what, you're the first Republican I have talked to, and I have talked to a lot, to say he's not the leader of his party. I have never heard anybody say that on any show.

So long will it be before the RNC chair has to bow down and beg for forgiveness from Rush?

***

Speaking of Steele, how is he going to reel in those good-old-boy bigots in his party, as he attempts to bring more flava into the GOP? They just can't help themselves. Take Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall, who compares the stimulus package to, of all things, slavery, saying it is "as much a chain as the ankle bracelets were to African Americans in the 1860s in this state". Watch it below the fold.

Little Ricky parrots Limbaugh -- wants Obama to fail

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Feb 28, 2009 at 23:30:00 PM EST

Man-on-Dog has his marching orders from Rush, like a good little puppy. Think Progress interviewed the former senator from Pennsylvania.

TP: What do you think about what Rush said about, I mean, do you hope, should we hope that President Obama fails?

   LEVIN: Yes.

   TP: Yes?

SANTORUM: If...absolutely we hope that his policies fail.

Speaking of the leader of the GOP, Rush received a hero's welcome at CPAC, received an award, and was -- get this -- compared to Ben Franklin.
After his speech, CPAC presented Rush with a "Defender of the Constitution" award, which included a document signed by Benjamin Franklin. The presenter then compared Rush to Franklin:
The king of England sat with his advisers, and they read the writings of Ben Franklin. They said, "The colonists will never be successful if they read what he writes." Just as the king's successor, who is in the White House, said the other day, that conservatives will never be successful if they listen to Rush Limbaugh. The only way we will be successful is if we listen to Rush Limbaugh!
The crowd again erupted into cheers.
Again, this is a party in complete disarray -- the delusional folks at CPAC didn't hear the booming message sent last Nov. 4.  Oh, btw, Faux News covered his speech live -- there's no doubt that he, not Michael Steele is seen as the leader of the party.

Rush: The 'Hell We Don't' Want Obama To Fail!'

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Feb 26, 2009 at 16:00:00 PM EST

Wow -- why does Rush Limbaugh hate Americans who are suffering because of the Bush Economy? The self-proclaimed head of the GOP has made it crystal clear that he wants President Obama's economic plan to fail so his Republican goons can get another crack at the pillage-and-destroy plan they executed so expertly the last time around. (Think Progress):
LIMBAUGH: I am told South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford called me an idiot, not by name. But he said, "Anyone who wants Obama to fail is an idiot." I don't anybody else who said it. So, I guess he's talking about- ... Politicians have different audiences than I do and they've got to say things in different ways. So, after he said, "Anyone who wants Obama to fail is an idiot," then went on in his own way to say, "Gosh, I hope this doesn't work." ... He just had to say, "We don't want the president to fail."

Hell we don't! We want something to blow up here politically. We want something to not go right. ... We're talking about freedom that is under assault!

And what do you know -- when Sanford was cornered and asked about Rush's reaction, the tool shuffled back into line and had his flunkie put out this flaccid statement.
Asked to comment on Limbaugh's statement, Joel Sawyer, Sanford's Communications Director, said that "the governor was not referring to anyone" in particular when he said that anyone hoping for Obama to fail is an "idiot." Rather, Sawyer said, Sanford was speaking "generically" and did not know that Limbaugh had previously said he hopes that Obama will fail.
If you think that was bad, click over to see: Limbaugh To Convene A 'Female Summit' To Figure Out Why Women Hate Him. He was dead serious. And then he went on to some serious, horrifying trans-bashing:
One thing about the Female Summit: sorry, no transsexuals. We're not going to have anybody who's had an addadictomy, and we're not going to have anybody who's had a chopadickoffamy. We're going to have women from birth.

TN church shooter: 'Know This If Nothing Else: This Was A Hate Crime'

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Feb 13, 2009 at 13:00:00 PM EST

Back in July of last year, Jim Adkisson, 58, opened fire with a shotgun during an event at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, where more than 200 people were attending a performance of "Annie"). It was also later learned that the Knoxville congregation had also recently put up a sign to publicly welcome LGBTs to worship.

When law enforcement officials searched Adkisson's home, they found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly.

Fast forward to Feb. 8, 2009 -- Adkisson has been sentenced to life behind bars for the deaths of Greg McKendry and Linda Kraeger. As many speculated at the time, the influence of the right-wing bile surely had to influence Adkisson. His four-page manifesto not only made clear that he wanted to kill liberals -- it called for the right-wing to rise up and commit violence. Sara Robinson at Orcinus:

But yesterday, Adkisson told us himself -- in his own words -- just how central right-wing eliminationism was in driving him to his shooting spree. Shortly after he was sentenced yesterday, he released a four-page handwritten "manifesto" -- which he'd intended to be his suicide note -- to the Knoxville News (the full .pdf can be downloaded here). In it, he unleashes the full measure of his hatred for liberals -- and encourages other would-be right-wing warriors to take up arms and follow him into battle.

Some choice excerpts:

"Know this if nothing else: This was a hate crime. I hate the damn left-wing liberals. There is a vast left-wing conspiracy in this country & these liberals are working together to attack every decent & honorable institution in the nation, trying to turn this country into a communist state. Shame on them....

"This was a symbolic killing. Who I wanted to kill was every Democrat in the Senate & House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg's book. I'd like to kill everyone in the mainstream media. But I know those people were inaccessible to me. I couldn't get to the generals & high ranking officers of the Marxist movement so I went after the foot soldiers, the chickenshit liberals that vote in these traitorous people. Someone had to get the ball rolling. I volunteered. I hope others do the same. It's the only way we can rid America of this cancerous pestilence."

"I thought I'd do something good for this Country Kill Democrats til the cops kill me....Liberals are a pest like termites. Millions of them Each little bite contributes to the downfall of this great nation. The only way we can rid ourselves of this evil is to kill them in the streets. Kill them where they gather. I'd like to encourage other like minded people to do what I've done. If life aint worth living anymore don't just kill yourself. do something for your Country before you go. Go Kill Liberals.

Wow. I wonder how Bernie Goldberg feels about being immortalized by a member of the right-wing Base. As Sara noted later in her post, Adkisson has years to spread his raging hate from a prison cell to his brothers-in-arms.
No doubt this manifesto is being blogged, mailed, twittered, and otherwise littered across the far-right infosphere today, and Adkisson will likely emerge from this as a new hero of the extreme right wing. (He's obviously articulate and literate, which means we may expect more of these bilious rants coming out of his cell in the years ahead.) It also seems likely that, probably sooner rather than later, other victims of our curdled economy will accept his charge, pick up their guns, and attempt to follow him into battle.

Nicely done, Messrs. Hannity, Goldberg, Limbaugh, Savage and O'Reilly -- and all your lesser brethren who keep the hate speech spewing 24/7/365 across every field and into every shop in the country.

Jon Swift on the hope Rush Limbaugh gives the GOP

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Jan 31, 2009 at 06:00:00 AM EST

I love the wit of Jon Swift; what a nail on the head about the flailing Republicans kneeling before hillbilly heroin blowhard Rush Limbaugh. Surf and read "Rush Limbaugh Gives Republicans Hope Again." A snippet from the list of hopes and dreams of the GOP:
While Obama seems like a nice young man, kind of like a young Sidney Poitier, is handsome and polite, seems well educated and articulate, and even brought Republicans candy and flowers, Limbaugh was not fooled for a minute. If Obama succeeds, who knows what kind of man America's daughters will bring home to dinner next? Since Obama is trying to seduce Americans by giving them hope, Limbaugh knows that we Republicans must have our own message of optimism and hope. So here are some of the things that we are hoping for:

...We hope Obama fails to get people to stop hating gays.
Despite all of Hollywood's best efforts, there are still a lot of people who hate gays and we need to encourage that as much as possible as it is our best wedge issue. One of the reasons we succeeded in ruining Clinton's first term was because of his attempt to allow gays to serve in the military. Although we suffered a few major setbacks in our efforts to marginalize gays when Clay Aitken and Lance Bass came out, we have to remain vigilant. We must encourage a huge outcry if Obama tries to allow gays to serve openly in the military or supports gay civil unions, which will just lead to gay marriage and people marrying their pets and livestock. And we can encourage homophobia among African-Americans, which shouldn't be too hard since we have a lot of preachers and rappers on our side. It may be our best chance to win blacks over to our side again.

...We hope Obama fails to prevent a big natural disaster from devastating an American city.
Unfortunately, a lot of Americans got the impression from Hurricane Katrina that there is something government can do to help people when there is a natural disaster. Republicans, of course, know that it is blasphemous to try to fight acts of God. So far our efforts to convince people that there was nothing we could do to save New Orleans, or at least to blame local officials, have not been very successful. So it looks like the only thing that will convince people that they are on their own is if an American city is destroyed despite all of Obama's best efforts. Since God is on the Republicans' side I'm sure He already has something in the works, but it wouldn't hurt to pray a little.

Surf over for the rest of the "hopes."

President Obama's first weekly address to the nation

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Jan 24, 2009 at 10:41:05 AM EST

While the right wing blogs are pathetically blathering about the dressing down Obama gave GOPers on the Hill yesterday for following their idol, (the whiny baby, increasingly irrelevant, Hillbilly Heroin-procuring Sultan of Slop) Rush Limbaugh....
President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.

...The President has moved on to address the nation about the economic crisis and his recovery plan.
WEEKLY ADDRESS: President Barack Obama Discusses New White House Report on an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan

Report gives by-the-numbers look at impact plan will have on the economy; lays out key priorities

We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action.  Just this week, we saw more people file for unemployment than at any time in the last twenty-six years, and experts agree that if nothing is done, the unemployment rate could reach double digits.  Our economy could fall $1 trillion short of its full capacity, which translates into more than $12,000 in lost income for a family of four.  And we could lose a generation of potential, as more young Americans are forced to forgo college dreams or the chance to train for the jobs of the future.

In short, if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse.

That is why I have proposed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan to immediately jumpstart job creation as well as long-term economic growth.  I am pleased to say that both parties in Congress are already hard at work on this plan, and I hope to sign it into law in less than a month.

The speech continues below the fold.
